central position for visiting amsterdam Impersonal feeling with pseudo design furniture
good location, great comfortable beds and nice gym and sauna area
hotel staff and clean the Spa
Location and staff Internet services not included in package
Great geographic location Fee parking for the car Fitting out of the hotel entry not indicated on website. Worse soundproofing of the room windows.
soft and comfirtable bed You have to pay for everything such as internet, phone calls, TV, etc. Service was poor. Prices are relatively much higher than other similar hotels.
very comfortable bed and soft sheets front door was not working so had to use side door
Nothing !!! Center of Amsterdam
location There internet.
The hotel was pretty fine, clean and with good style. Very close to the center. The room was big enought for all family. We didn't got any breakfast at hotel, but during the boat cruise, the stop is very close to the hotel. Miss the boiler for have some tea in the room. The remote control of TV almost died.
Beautiful hotel, Room cleaning is handled all day long, not as usual only in the morning. This is not optimal if you have children who need to sleep in the afternoon
Staff were brilliant, Location, Value for money
great location, nice staff, nice rooms, great atmosphere. I'll be happy to come again. no aircondition in the room which is a problem when the weather is hot. when opening the window you sometimes suffer noise from the street.
Location Too hot
Total confusion on check in and taken to sister hotel, (Roumer) Very little explanation. The room though was very nice and on a quiet street so maybe in the end it all worked out. Just the check in experience, staff also seemed vague about the wherebaouts of another hotel that I had to attend the next day and would have sent me to a completely different place, if I hadn't double checked myself.
The hotel is superbly situated just off the Leidesplein and easy walking to the main shopping streets and bars The room was a little style over function and the double bed was 2 singles pushed together. It was also a little noisey, not to bad but depends on your neighbours as the rooms are connected by a joining door and the walls are not thick.
Staff were very helpful and easygoing. Breakfast was very nice. noise from adjacent rooms, having to carry my bags up and down very narrow and steep staircases. The lifts were so small, I could not fit in with my luggage, and had to be in the lift to push the button.
location is great, very central, easy to access everywhere the room we stay is super small, and the stairs were super thin. in d room we can see dust! can hardly move anywhere. too small for 2 persons. it looks boutique from the outside, but the is not. not value for money at all comparing to other hotels around that area.
The friendlyness of the staff was second to none, and it was absolutly beautiful room
Fabulous location. I walked everywhere. Easy to catch the Conexxion shuttle bus to and from airport-5 Euros! Staff helpful. Room is soooooo tiny. Compact-like the size of a king sized bed-only that the entire room. I managed and I was alone. if I had booked for 2 people it would have been interesting.
not a nice welcome. changed room three times before we got an acceptable room
Nice room, bedding, etc., convenient location, and helpful staff. Room 101 (below street level) would not connect to the wifi and was below the reception/lobby area, so you heard steps/luggage overhead.
Very friendly staff, nice big and clean bathrooms, good breakfast. Also the room was really nice and dark with the curtains closed so you can seep really well. Our room was on the lower ground floor and we got a lot of noise from people in other rooms and above us.
The staff was friendly and helpful. They spoke excellent English and Dutch. The location was excellent and close to P.C Hooft Straat, which I think should be emphasized in the hotel manual/guide. The hotel was also right next to the Vondel park. It was close enough to the leidseplein for a short walk but far enough to away from the rowdiness. The complimentary liquor in the room was highly appreciated. The toiletries should be replenished every day, especially shampoo and body soap. The proximity of my room (room 18) to the service area meant that early in the morning I could hear the breakfast serviced being prepared quite clearly. The door and insulation for rooms close to the kitchen should be thicker. The curtains on the windows were blackout curtains which were nice, but I would have also preferred there to be curtains through which light can pass through to help adjust to the new timezone. It was either completely dark or completely exposed with these curtains - and being right next to the hotel courtyard meant that the windows were at eye level for anyone there.
Location and very attentive staff. Paying for internet access in room.
Location was brilliant - quiet but just around the corner to lively square. Hotel clean, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast great, rooms fantastic!
friendly staff and clean throughout. rooms slightly tight
Guests are given unlimited free drinks (of any sort) and snacks are always available. The hotel is advertised as having a restaurant. There is room service (very good) and hot breakfasts to order, but a restaurant for dinner is in a sister hotel down the block.
Lovely boutique hotel that lived up to the description on website. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. A very minor point but would have expected more luxurious bathroom products to live up to the luxurious standard of bedroom and bathroom!
good location - near museums and public transporation cost of breakfast
The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. While remaining professional they were warm and welcoming. My son would often join me for a drink after work and we enjoyed sitting in the living room of the lobby. At breakfast one member of the staff (Sau (?) always remembered what I liked and greeted me with smile and a cup of coffee. All and all, I could not have been more pleased in terms of the facility, location, and personel. My rooms were attractive, but in both, 21 and ? the closet was practically inaccessible. One must sit on the bed to open the doors.
Very central position - comfortable hotel. Didnt think necessary for towels to be taken away everyday especially as they were then never replaced!
Front office staff were very helpful, within their capacity to solve problems - for instance, how best to get somewhere. Some, such as an internet system that was constantly breaking down, were not within their capacity. Cramped bedroom - no proper hanging space. Internet access very poor. Safe did not lock. Only one tiny piece of soap was offered. Lighting was very poor in rooms - difficult to read. No ironing board. Air-conditioning unreliable - public spaces overheated. Much more concerned with appearance than functionality.
Great location. Easy access to tram and canal boats. Room was very clean and nice. Also bed was very comfortable. Staff and bell captain were very helpful and nice upon arrival. Made us feel very welcome and safe. Nothing.
The staff are very nice and helpful. Location is close to the main tram line which will take you to any major attractions. I love their breakfast which has a very wide and generous selection of food, and ham. I'll absolutely stay in this same hotel again. Thank you NH!
I would like to have breakfest already at 6:30 AM
Staff was very helpful. Decent size rooms. Great breakfast Small bar
The location of NH Amsterdam is excellent. The staff was not friendly and they have passed much inaccurate information to me during my stay. The rooms are very small
location, breakfast price too high, some stuff very cool and distanced, water in the shower hardly warm (for 4 star hotel this is disgrace), hotel is not at all luxurious, very boring and no atmosthere, no price list for mini bar; hotel cosmetics very poor quality; the only good thing about this hotel is location;
The location is very convenient to go to all touristic places.
We liked the location of the hotel and the staff which was very helpfull and nice. When we came to the hotel, we got the room which was not cleaned yet but then, after informing the reception thereof, we were upgraded to a better room, so we couldn´t complain at all.
I cannot recommend this hotel I pre-paid this hotel via booking.com (14-Sep-10). However on check-out after a two night stay (11-11-10 / 13-11-10), I discovered that NH Amsterdam Centre had charged my card for the full amount (561.70 euro) a second time! As of 18/11/10 I have not received a refund. Will never stay in an NH Hotel again! I advise if you stay in this hotel, check your credit card statements when you get home!
Hotel is located in the center of the town 5 min walking distance to Rijksmuseum. Basic amenities are there, all relatively new. Rooms are on the smaller side but can't expect more given the location. Very clean and well maintained. When asked the staff were I can park the car they have sent me to a parking that costed 68 Euro for the night without even mentioning the price (paid at the exit in the morning). Extremely slow internet almost unusable.
Comfortable rooms and attentive staff. The front desk was very helpful upon our arrival in helping to orient ourselves as well as providing restaurant suggestions.
Great and comfortable hotel. Conveniently located near restaurants, bars, shops!
Clean and friendly staff. Good location. Lots of shops and supermarkets within 5 minutes walk. Check in was at 1500 which is a nuisance. Bathroom drain was not working properly and water pooled under your feet and flow in the toilet area even with a light shower.
The night desk guy went over and above to help us out. Very accommodating to first time tourists with lots of questions.
Staff was excellent this was a great stop on our tour of Europe location was great.
The suite we stayed in was beautiful, with a great terrace and view. The bed was huge and the room was clean. Complimentary wifi. An awesome looking place! There is no parking in front of the building (no parking spaces either) so I had to park in the middle of the street and leave my flashers on while I went in to check in.
The hotel is in a very good location for the main museum and entertainment districts of Amsterdam. The rooms are simple yet comfortable and the facilities of the hotel are reasonable. The breakfast continental was acceptable for the price. For the price I'd normally expect tea and coffee facilities in the room.
I think the hotel staff was very nice and helpful, and the hotel in general was excellent compared to the cheap prices. The location was very good, near the pub area and near a tram station, but still the street was quiet and no trouble to get to sleep. I would wish that the bathroom was a bit warmer.
The staff has been very helpful Our room had only a small window facing a wall (about 40 cm from the window)
it has an excellent location. i find that it is typical of most hotels in amsterdam rooms small, smoking of dope in hotel even though not permitted. there was noise on some nights from other rooms.
Awesome room at agreat price! NO
For sure Location!! Just was what we looking for. Good ratio price/hotel!! If an other trip in Amsterdam will book in this hotel. Was a bit noisy for people who would like to stay longer in a bed. Also cannot closed the window and the room was street side even if it's a quiet street.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet street in the center of Amsterdam. Clean room. Small room (1 person), but this is not really a problem if you just need a place to sleep.
Room was at floor level and too noisy.
The location was excellent. Walking distance to all the major attractions, friendly staff. Hotel was clean, room adequate. The ceiling in the room and bathroom was too low. My husband is 6'4" and kept hitting his head= could not stand up straight in the shower. Also, the doors could use closers...you could hear doors slamming late at night from neighbors coming in late.
It is a small, nice and homelike hotel
The staff was very nice, and there was a good atmosphere We couldn't eat the breakfast due to dietary restrictions - although we told it to them in advance, they still made us pay for breakfast.
The staff was the best, very friendly & helpful! My 7 year old daughter loved the sitting area of the lobby too. The location is great!
The staff are very friendly It's ideally situated for my work Other noisy, ignorant guests - nothing that the hotel can do about that!
the staff was very friendly and helpful
Very friendly staff, lovely welcome and room was ready at 11.30am which after an early morning flight was great. Couldnt have wished for better - very clean, room excellent, lovely breakfast selection, fantastic location for sightseeing.
The hotel was simple and basic and priced very fair. My single room was tiny and had a little single bed, but it was what I expected for a low price. Since I was traveling alone and spent very little time in my room all I cared about was that the room seemed safe and clean; it was definitely both of those. The employees were all very friendly and polite as well!
Location. Parking. Hotel advertises that they have "parking permits"; but they don't. You park on the street for 36 Euros/day.
Great location on a quiet street. We will go back another time.
Perfect location, excellent staff, good value for money. room was close to elevator so a bit noisy in the morning if you want to sleep longer.
Very convenient to museums. Also close to Leidseplein for entertainment, dining and transportation. Althought the breakfast and lounge areas were nicely appointed the decor in hallways and rooms is rather stale (though in good condition).
Breakfast! Comfy bed Ideal location Outdated decor
Convenient location, staff and facilities available for wide range of hours. Staff friendly and helpful.
It is a modern hotel, comfortable, close to the centre and not too close so one does not get a night's sleep. Perfect. I would certainly stay there again! Nothing.
the comfortable bed. and the veranda small bedroom, no fridge, expensive
This hotel was fantastic. Rooms were exactly like the pictures. It was very clean and the room was a really good size. Free wifi was an added bonus. Food a little bit expensive - breakfast not a very good deal. It's a little bit further from the centre of Amsterdam however please don't let that put you off as the No. 1 tram stops right outside and takes 10 minutes to the Dam and other destinations
The first three nights I stayed the internet did not function in my room, only in the lobby. I inquired many times but to no avail. I decided to give the hotel one more chance as i had to extend my stay and I was given a wonderful room with a great view, and working internet! Not sure it was an upgrade price wise, but it was indeed comfortable and made me very happy to know my best interest as a customer was being regarded. The bathrooms in both rooms I had were really great, and the staff is very friendly. Lastly next door is a big gym with a pool, for 20 euro a day you can do your workout there. It was supposed to be a deal, but actually the price is 20 euro regardless of whether or not u are a guest in the hotel. I think this hotel just has a few growing pains, it is new. The location is about 10 minutes by tram from leidseplein, so not really walking distance when it is cold. I was annoyed at first the internet problem in my room was not rectified quickly enough, however such is life, and Amsterdam is a great city with many hotels so it is luck of the draw I suppose.
the room was very pretty and clean, very fancy design, but functional all over. loved the little eco messages from the towels and the soap bottle the price was a bit high, but the part taht I did not like at all was that the city tax was not included in the price listed - it wasn't much, but still
nice atmosphere, stylish rooms friendly staff relatively expensive added cost for parking
It was in front of the tram line 1, which takes you to the centre in 5-10 minutes. The room was clean. Parking seems for the service and cleaning staff and it has no direct access to tower B (you will see why this is important) but to the reception through a strange door which does not even say this. If your room is in tower B you have to pick up 2 elevators and walk through strange doors which are uncomfortable and useless. Forgetting something at the room or just getting to it more than once in a day it is uncomfortable and painful. Only the distance to the centre is nice, but many unfinished renovation work (e.g. Parking, visible tubes, etc), getting to tower B, small rooms and unfair quality-price forces me to not recommend you this hotel.
its location, nice and attentive staff, cleanliness, and price. the front doors open to all, (should have customers use cards to gain entry), killed two small roaches coming down from the ceiling in the restroom, no batteries in remote control for the t.v., and the tea machine was not working.
The Hotel was very central but far enough away from the bars to be quiet at night The fact cash was requested to pay for room, did not know until we checked in this would be requested
Excellent breakfast, good multilingual staff. Good sheets and towels LAck of fire escape
Chilled staff, price underneath the radiatior needed hoovered but otherwise clean
Far enough out of the main city drag not to be too noisey... Good position to explore some of the lesser known areas of Amsterdam... although having a friend who lived nearby, made it for me really. Bed springs had gone slightly and the smallest loo ever!
The location was good and the 24 hour porter .The building was quirky. The rooms were clean. I was very disappointed with the lack of any effort by the manager to meet with me. Hotel Crystal manager knew from 14th August that I had paid twice for one double room and had failed to discuss this with me or reimburse my money. The communal toilets were very cramped and not hygeinic
the hotel staff are very friendly .the hotel is in a quiet location yet not too far to explore the city .stayed here on numerous occasions and will return later this year being a typical dutch residence the stairs are steep and may cause problems for the less mobile
The staff was great! Everything else. The beds were terrible! The room was freezing - there was a hole in the window the size of a water snake & the heating was then counter-acted by the draft. And you can hear everything from every other room. The rooms could use updating. The prices were way too high, even for Amsterdam.
friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast steep stairs
it was very close to the city center. only this was good. staff was not helpful.furniture was poor and old.
My room was on the top floor, it was very hot in May. I was given an air conditioning unit which helped me to sleep as it cooled the room giving a lovely breeze. Everywhere was clean and the lift great for the top floor! The staff were courteous and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
Easy access from Schipol via 179 bus. Tram stop nearby. Great restaurants nearby 10 minute walk to Museumplein 5 minute walk to Vondelpark Outside of tourist area but still easy to get to Streetfood Restaurant downstairs was very good Room was clean and new looking TV had lots of channels Bed was comfortable Budget priced for Amsterdam Couldn't open drapes as window was on courtyard Can't charge electronics overnight as all outlets are switched so when you turn out the lights the outlets turn off too. Signage is difficult to see. I had to ask directions from neighboring business. They said they get that a lot. None of this would stop me from staying here again. I liked the place.
Culture factor. The philosphy theme. Location in town. Breakfast. Lower room standard than I expected for the price (cosy room).
The hotel is in the centre; it is quiet; the rooms are nicely decorated; the windows are big and can be opened; the hotel is interesting. The rooms are small for 2 persons; the rooms were not carefully cleaned during our 3 nights stay (mainly the floor - carpet); a cloth hanger in the bathroom would be nice; more convenient storage room for "long" coats and dresses.
I loved the different themes in the rooms. It made the stay interesting and enjoyable, not like I was staying in any old hotel. No parking, but not the hotel's fault.
Generally was very friendly atmosphere Small beds; liking taps
nice hotel with individual rooms, great topics (philosophy!), place is good, near tram, quite quiet rooms a bit shabby, toilet/shower very small, breakfast too expensive (but you need not to take and pay it); beware of "double" beds!
I felt that the front desk staff was VERY helpful, the rooms were clean and well accommodated, the ambiance of the hotel was well appointed, it was quiet, and the location was also very nice! The breakfast was not worth the money. There is a really neat restaurant cafe attached to the hotel, called Friday Next. Spend less money and get a better breakfast there. The beds were also VERY soft, a little too soft for me.
Close to walk to museums and food market. Breakfast very good. Take bus 197 straight from airport to one block from hotel. Or take airport shuttle straight to door. the room does need more lamps for light. The stairs are very steep and this is problem for some.
Breakfast was good, the garden is beautiful, the location is great, the staff polite and helpful The room was quite small, and a little worn out. For the hot water you had to wait 10 minutes to come, but then it was fine. The TV in the room was very small.
good location and garden view at the back my room had a hot water pipe running through it, so it was noisy and stuffy. The walls are thin so I could hear people in the next room.
Location was the best for this hotel The hotel was looking tired in places and the walls were extremely thin. Metal doors was not good as they bang so much louder.
friendly staff.good location in nice area with easy transport into centre as far as I remember
location was close to the city centre the rooms are incredibly small, the bathroom was a joke it was no more than a cupboard with a toilet and shower, and the smell from the drain was disgusting. The room was still dirty from the last occupants. The breakfast area is nowhere big enough for the ammount of guests staying, it was chaos with people standing to eat
Location great, breakfast also quite good, staff friendly bed was too soft - not that comfortable
Price. Service. Clean. Location can not be beat. Quite. Small room, but fine for one. Breakfast was OK nor more.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at all times of the day and the breakfast This isnt a complaint but the breakfast area was a bit tight at times.
The hotel staff was really very friendly, rich breakfast, nice bar to have a drink in the evening, perfect location of the hotel in very quite area but so close to Leidsesquare! We just loved this hotel! We will book again!
Hotel staff is very friendly, always willing to help, breakfast is very good and enough, beds comfortables and clean rooms. It is in a calm street, is perfect for rest after a long day walking trought Amsterdam. all ok
helpful staff and English language TV Some of our parties rooms were very small
Very friendly and helpful staff - feel like home when staying there especially if travel alone. A sheer variety of sumptous breakfast. Impressive flower beds and cute garden everywhere. Comfortable and cute room decoration although a bit small. Strike the right balance between convenience and peace, only 5 minutes walk from Leidsplien. Quiet room. Definitely worth the pay in a place like Amsterdam where cost of living is usually very high. Steep and narrow staircase.
Very helpful stuff. Location was very good.
The room was cleaned and the towels were changed regularly. The location is very quiet and the room (a triple) was quite comfortable, though the bathroom was rather small. The breakfast was mediocre. The staff (except for the room-cleaner) were very poor. The hotel manager and his wife who run the hotel reminded me of Soviet-era-unsmiling hotel people. When I asked the manager to put a stamp on the receipt he became very annoyed and told me that I consider Netherlands very small and unable to do business. I also failed to get a cup of tea 20 mins after the breakfast finished
Hotel staff were frendly .Location of hotel was nice and quiet but close to public transport and not a bad price. The bed was a bit unconfortable the TV did not work very well and there was and odd smell from the bathroom.
Hotel refurbished to high standard; bright and cheerful decor. No soap/shampoo in shower cubicle! Probably newly refurbished.
We had read in reviews that the staff would be unpleasant. Quite the contrary. They were absolutely great and so very helpful. thank YOU!Our room was clean and cheery and everything one can expect from a two-star hotel. Bonus: enjoy the flowers and particularly the blue orchids...
Location, stuff, breakfast, room etc. Everthing is perfect.
The location was perfect. The room was cleaned everyday. Though the room was rather nice, neither the hotel website nor booking.com had the pictures of the room we stayed at. We expected to have a bigger room as was offered by the websites. Plus, all guests had breakfast at the same time around 9 and it was difficult to find a place to sit down. And if you did manage to sit down, you were forced to eat fast 'cause a lot of people were standing behind you waiting for a table.
Staff was very cooperative. Breakfast was good. Location is good. Carpet out side room is very good to be maintained same also in the room. No soap provided in bathroom. No tissue available in room. Curtain in bathroom to be replaced on regular basis as it is common bathroom.
quiet location, good breakfast noisy when elevator is used
Good location and good breakfast. !
The hotel was in a good location, it was easy to get into the centre. The man on reception was very friendly and very helpful. The heating was very good. The beds were very soft and also the wind made the window rattle at night. We solved this by stuffing our booking confirmation in the gap!
Clean, cosy and a bit small small room. Good breakfasts.
Warm welcome, excellent location, clean and value for money.
This was my 3rd stay at this hotel and is conveniently situated for my favourite place the Leidersplein". It is close enough to plan a walking route but far away enough not to be disturbed by city noise. A traditional English breakfast isn't served but there is suficient selection to start the day with a good meal. I will be back again for Queens day which is my favourite time of year in Amsterdam as it is my birthday aswell and I always have a great time. I'ts a "big party" and everyone should come over for the experience. I only stayed for 3 nights this time and I had to change rooms on the 3rd night which isn't a problem and wouldn't put me off going back, but it was just a bit inconvenient.
Breakfast and close to tourist attractions n/a
Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel in a very central city location, within walking distance of most places to visit in Amsterdam. Room quite small. Instead of a double bed, was two single beds.
A clean, spacious room at a good price and with a good, central location easily accessed from Leidseplein. Room was good, a little shabby, but very clean and equipped with a large TV, big windows, and everything u need. Nothing reallly, it's a decent hotel.
The location is good but very old fashioned This is really a guest house with 4 star hotel
really nice rooms, good located near to the leidesplein
