In-room frig, comfortable beds with 3 pillows for each double bed, roomy, close to downtown and airport with a car, large fan in the room. It had a neat appearance with bedspreads tucked in at the corners. Looks a little better in person than the photo. It had all clean surfaces except for some dirt on bathroom floor in the corners. But all else looked neat & clean. I still felt comfortable staying here.
No heat in the room despite Alaska tempuratures
The staff was wonderful and while the facility is dated, it was clean and smelled clean. Compared to other area hotels, the price was good and location was quiet.
owner was nice bed not properly made so lumpy & at 2am when we finally got there we just crashed after long train ride, car rental, finding location (sign hidden-thak God I had a Garmin. It says Inn & SUites, but far from it-looks like a Motel 6 (-2). Owner says new beds and some fixing but looks like OLD interior-pink paint etc. old Sorry :(
Good beds, hot showers, nice vibe. Quirky in a nice way. The place goes for soul and hits the mark.
Cheap price that provides you what you need. Friendly staff and travelers from all over. Decent location with food options nearby and a shared kitchen for you to use. Shared bathroom has a toilet and shower with soap/shampoo provided. Sleeping pods were stuffy - no ventilation. Cot was pretty hard and uncomfortable, could use a thin mattress.
My girlfriend and i knew we would be arriving around 2am from the airport (flight arrival, 1:21am). We called ahead a couple times that night to see if this would be a problem. at around 9pm we were told sometime around 2am would be fine. upon flight arrival we called, before 2am, and were told the door would be open and/or the key would be left out- it was unclear, a red flag. we arrived just after 2am. Doors locked, no one in sight. we got into an open door in the hallway that accessed our room but couldn't find any key to the locked room. we knocked "politely" on the trailer door as a note said to do if one was locked out after hours. No one answered. we knocked louder. returning a couple times to do so. We called the same number that no longer picked up. We left around 3am to walk to find another hotel. Although many reviews warned "save your money" we figured we'd be fine with Qupqugiaq because we'd stayed at dirt cheap places in India, Belize, Nicaragua, Mexico, etc. We figured our standards were low enough. Now i'd say the same, "save your money" to anyone arriving anytime near 2am. We'd have preferred they told us our late arrival would have been a problem.
Nothing, meth heads every where..
The hotel is very neat, eclectic place, located in midtown with easy access to most of anchorage. Many amenities are within walking distance. The staff was by far the kindest and friendliest that I have ever encountered (I am a traveling builder and have stayed at hundreds of hotels across North America). There is a nice common area, that is quiet and great for working, but also provides the opportunity to interact with with the hotels other guests, especially during breakfast. If you are looking to make memories, and maybe a friend too, look no further. The stairs to the upper level rooms were outdoors, which didn't really bother me, but may not appeal to some. In my opinion it's a small issue for some, that will be easily forgotten with the Inn's world class customer service.
The cost was good and the staff was friendly. I was expecting nothing based on the reviews, but it was actually a fine place to stay.
The place had a unique "feel"... Basic, and very "Alaskan". I liked it... my wife, not so much
The room we stayed in had a parking spot and we were not in a connected hallway. Lots of privacy. it was great for what we needed which was just to crash for the night, shower, and leave early the next day to see more of alaska.
The staff was very polite and helpful Sharing a bathroom for the price.
Anchorage is full of mediocre but overpriced hotels. This place is less expensive but definitely no frills.
Cool place Better pillows
Nothing we never got to stay their. They put us up in a Manor a half a block a way. It way dirty and trashy. Their was a apartment building in between us and the Puffin Inn. This was a terrible booking, we did not even get to stay at the Puffin Inn. We stayed at the Manor a half a block away. It was filthy dirty, stained and very run down. I would never recommend this to any one traveling.
Great staff Everyone works with what they've got Cheap and easy Close to airport 24 hour shuttle I got a late check out as I arrived after midnight. Stored luggage for me after I moved out. Price is right for travelers on a budget That old, familiar motel smell in the room .
good location to airport
NOTHING OLD AND DINGY ROOM BED SLANTED TO THE HEAD WATER IN SHOWER GOES FROM FREEZING TO SCALDING HOT IN .001 SEC's WAIT AT AIRPORT FOR SHUTTLE WAS NEARLY 1 HR W MOTEL ABOUT 5 MIN AWAY. RM WAS 89 DOLLARS FOR A 20 DOLLAR A NIGHT DIVE, AND I WOULDN'T PAY 20.. I HONESTLY WILL SLEEP ON AN AIRPORT BENCH BEFORE I BOOK THERE AGAIN!
Clean quiet Crack queen
Close to airport. Management tries to make most of what it has Starting to show its age. Rooms are small, at least the out buildings. These rooms need to be renovated.
The room was clean and the bed was semi comfortable. The bathroom was very clean. I wish they had a coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. Also, the TV was outdated and too high. I had to lay on the bed to watch it or my neck would hurt. Also, VERY thin walls. You can hear the neighbors and their activities.
Clean room. Comfortable bed. Atmosphere was edgier than I'm used to.
