Loved the restaurant and the staff. When my son booked the room the info stated there was a free breakfast but there wasn't.
location It seemed like they they partially renovated but did not really want to spend the money to do the job right. So the lobby looks nice and modern but the rooms were just ok, and certain features (for example the bathrooms) were not renovated and appeared sort of dingy.
Decent place to stay and staff is very nice, but being more expensive than the other hotels in the area, I thought it'd have more to offer. Very tiny bathroom, pretty run down looking
Staff was great Room was a bit run down. Shower drain stopped up. Gave us a room next to one they were doing major construction on, so very loud.
The pool view. The noise and the staff's attitude.
Great pool and very friendly staff. Definitely a very quirky hotel but a nice place to stay. I paid for a room that did NOT overlook the pool, however the staff "upgraded" us to a pool-side room. This would have been great but there was a 40th birthday party going on all day and well into the evening. The adults at the party were very clean and courteous but their kids, who played in the pool for 10 straight hours, were extremely loud. It made it impossible to nap during the day, and the next morning I was awoken by the sound of the kids playing in the pool again at 8am.
Pricing was appealing limited breakfast staff was not very attentive- rude abrupt at check in
It was perfect for me...from size of room to amenities to location, including price...very clean...staff very friendly & helpful. There were no problems/issues. My reservation was made on line and check-in/check-out was quick & smooth. I'd recommend this place to everyone.
Inexpensive and clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Free breakfast. Reasonably quiet despite being full. We did have to wait for the breakfast area to clear before we could get anywhere near it. Two separate sports teams (a volleyball and a swim team) had all their groups eating at 8am.
The room was clean, the amenities were up to hotel standards. The walls are very thin and the noise from the multiple highways surrounding the area make it difficult to get a good nights sleep. Of course around 3-4am you get a break in the cacophony. Bring good ear plugs and you should be fine.
Ample, clean rooms, friendly staff, perfect location to University of Michigan North Campus. Fair continental breakfast and competitive price. Nothing.
It was clean and staff was nice Our room was given to someone else. We were tired and it was frustrating to have a delay in getting a room. The desk clerk was very nice and apologetic for the situation. The Inn was very clean and nicely decorated, but the traffic noise was such that it interrupted our sleep
The proximity, cleanliness, price and service were excellent. Nothing.
Location proximity to UofM Hospital is good in spite of road construction which is out of their control. Breakfast was good. Price was very good for the area but overpriced in regards to the overall facility. I would also highly recommend Zingerman's Roadhouse a few blocks from the hotel for dining. DO NOT eat at hotel except "free" breakfast. Poor parking layout. First set of key cards didn't work so I had to go back down to front desk and then when I came back from the hospital for my second nights stay the second set they gave me the first night didn't work so I had to walk back down to front desk. Only functional ice machine was 4th floor. The bar was unable to make a basic Manhattan. The patty melt I got the 1st night was so greasy I barely ate a third of it. (didn't eat there again during my 3 day stay. Business center never had internet connection while I was there. Limited TV channels with no guide. Guide in info book in room was totally wrong. Dirty glasses left in room, ice bucket not cleaned or bag replaced.
Provimity to UMich Everything, especially the rip-off rates charged due to the home game
closeness to UMich overall comfort was not there. The A/c in the room was extremely noisy. The whole room had stale smell. No relaxing chair in the room, one has to mostly sit on the bed. The outside light was too bright from the gaps at the end of the curtains, makes it hard to sleep.
I lked that the pool and hot tub was right by my room. The breakfast was great. The rooms are very comfortable. I got the best room. But the heater didn't work. I called the front desk 4 times all day. At 10pm I went up to the desk the guys that was there had left. The young girl that was working the desk was great and got me a new room but its not what I asked for. I had to settle just so I had somewhere to sleep. I was not happy at all.
Very nice set up; friendly and helpful staff
good location The pool maintenance man was rude. The guests were a bunch of yahoos that camped out at the breakfast buffet table devouring everything.
We got a good night's sleep They need to. Vacuum the rooms better.
Front desk staff was helpful in recommending resturants No working ice machine. Was given "handycapped room which I did not need or request. Toilet "chair" legs had rusted all over bathroom floor
It was a good distance from downtown Ann Arbor without being right in downtown. The room smelled weird, the bathroom wasn't all the way cleaned, the wifi didn't work at all - it was just a ridiculous experience being there, but it was for two nights and it did the job so whatever.
friendly staff facilities are older and worn
I liked absolutely nothing about this place The staff was rude. The cleanliness of the entire place was horrible, The beds were old the pillows were old and stained The bathroom was so bad I refused to use it Paint and plaster was falling off the walls overall this place was disgusting.
I like nothing about it. I did noy stay. It was nothing like the picture that they show. I do not reccomend that place to anyone.
How dirty and broken curtain were. The second lock on the door was broken off.
Room was clean & staff punctual. Ideal location and close to major highway Excessive price for dated facility. Free breakfast was so so...not much to choose from
facility in poor shape. Price way too high
At least we had a place to stay on a busy football Saturday. This facility is in major need of overhaul. It is dated, dirty, and has several areas in need of repair.
Good Location Staff seemed indifferent , cold hallways , poor management,
It has a great location. I went to mich U and was perfectly located. The place looks ok, room was nice. Morning breakfast was ok also Classic cheap hotel smell.
Location, rate, & staff Rooms a little 'run down' needs an upgrade.
Adequate parking Paint chipping off walls, slight musty smell in hotel, housekeeper knocked on door at 10am and told us to check out (check out is at 11am)
The location was convenient and it was relatively inexpensive, but still overpriced for what it is Filthy, dirty. Very uncomfortable beds. Dripping shower. Fire and smoke alarms beeped because there were no batteries in them. Desk person told me that I should climb up and change it myself. I tossed it out into the filthy hallway with the non-locking outside door. Overall, very ghetto
Building was in poor shape. The ceilings were leaking in the hallways. When additional towels were requested, we were provided on small towel. During high time breakfast rush, breakfast area was disorganized and chaotic. Many of the items were not available.
My reservation got messed but because of a third party website but they took care of everything for me very quickly and professionally. The room and beds were awesome as well. I would definitely stay at this hotel again
Clean and quiet Charges $3 for coffee in the lobby. What hotel does that nowadays? I went out to Tim hortons and bought one cheaper.
Clean Friendly helpful staff Nice rooms Hotel Bar One of the best hotel breakfasts Shuttle service Pricey Breakfast is not free
Clean, helpful staff, housekeeping replenished everything we needed, TV worked and had cable channels wifi was spotty, the deadbolt on our door did not work and part of the surround around the deadbolt was ripped from the wall, inability to manually control the a/c
The staff were very friendly. While the whole place is non-smoking, the first room they gave me stank of smoke. They changed my room straight away, but even the new room (which was right next door) had the faint smell of smoke too. Also the heating unit in the room was really loud, kept waking me up during the night but I couldn't turn it off because the room was quite drafty and cold.
This property is convenient to the Michigan campus, and close to area highways, so it makes it easy to get where you need to go anywhere in the area. Not very fancy, but clean and comfy. The structure is an old fashioned motel, so room doors face the parking lot. That was no problem for me, but might be for others.
A market at the next door the staff were very helpful close to the bus stop
The shower was always hot and the room was clean. The beds are very hard and it was odd that the housekeepers had their child with them while cleaning.
It is a budget hotel with a good location close to downtown with a short bus ride. Some of the guests liked to drink beer in front of their rooms that was also in front of our room and in the morning, we came across many empty beer bottles or some guys drinking at 9am
It was located right near the Hospital, and it was a quiet area. Rooms are a little old and need updating
We have stayed there before(2 yrs ago ) and really enjoyed the location and service, Believe it or not,the first hand towel I used had a drizzle of dried blood on it! I actually checked to see if my hand was bleeding, but it wasn't..when I looked closer, I realized it was dried...not so good, but I understand laundry can be difficult...
Close to everything we wanted to be within. Price was low. Needs renovation. Pretty dated.
Beds are comfortable, clean rooms, nice pool and great breakfast. We just like it and will stay when we come again in March. Not bad, but when you flushed the toilet, it sounded like a plane was landing. Not annoying, it was funny but really strange. Never heard anything like it.
Convenient to North Campus and freeways, quiet, clean, safe.
Friendly staff Rooms too small
The staff was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and updated with nice carpeting, and the bed was very comfortable. Had a little trouble staying connected to wifi and frequently lost cell phone connection while in our room. We were very surprised to hear dogs whining and barking in the rooms surrounding ours. When we asked the manager about this, we were told we had been placed on the "pet friendly" floor...which we did not request, nor even know was an option at this hotel. The manager told us if we were disturbed by the barking they would speak to the pet owner...but the barking continued. The barking wasn't loud, but it was continuous until the pet owner returned. Probably not an issue for other guests with dogs, but for us it was a bit annoying...since we didn't have pets and did not request a pet-friendly room. Not a deal breaker for us, but it would have been nice to have been informed of other room options, or, if none other were available, been made aware of the situation BEFORE we booked.
A very cosy hotel with very helpful staff. spacious room, good breakfast, good shuttle service, good laundry facilities, free Wi-fi. A huge value for money! Love to come back and stay in Hampton Inn (North)!
We checked in late, checked out early. For the price it was a good value. No frills, just a place to spend the night, which is what we needed.
Very friendly staff Smelled like potpourri
As we expect from Hampton, the staff was courteous and helpful Room size anything but generous. Was surprised by the small size of our studio king and how cramped the breakfast area is.
The hotel was clean and the front desk was very accommodating. I booked through Kayak and they had a hard time consolidating the reservation and did not reserve the room I requested. I got a king bed instead of double which could have been a problem but I was traveling with family so we managed.
One of the friendliest staffs I've ever seen (and I travel quite a bit).
Convenient location, clean Outdated; breakfast area is very small and overcrowded
Staff all very helpful & friendly.
We were there to take our child to her appointment at U of M Children's Hospital. It was a relaxing experience with a wonderful staff. The best part was they offered a shuttle to the hospital. That alone took a lot of stress off of us. Thank you again and we will be back.
Wonderful staff, quality breakfast options, and a very nice, comfortable room.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Excellent location for visiting the university with easy access to restraunts. Complimentary valet parking and breakfast was very nice.
Location. Pleasant staff. Noisy doesn't adequately describe the symphony of garbage can pickup at 6:00a.m. That the hotel knew was a problem when I paid up for this corner suite made it worse. Mood not helped by terrible wi-fi, shortage of outlets a malfunctioning toilet.
Location. There isnt a better location in A2. Right in the heart of the campus. Old and tired looking. It is like visiting your old beloved Grandmother. The place is tired, needs desperate upgrade and investment in the infrastructure (i.e. wallpatper, carpet, paint, etc). Just really tired looking. It was sad to see
Location, location, location! We were visiting our freshman at UM, and loved being able to walk throughout the campus as well as the charming town of Ann Arbor - we will definitely return! Free valet parking was a plus - and desk staff was great!! Bathroom is small, but adequate. Not wild about the step up into the bathroom or the extremely small sink but manageable. Complimentary continental breakfast was standard and coffee was weak - go to Comet Coffee instead!
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Only 1 car included in free parking. Expensive for size of suite.
It was close to downtown the workers were very nice and friendly. The hotel was clean and continental breakfast was nice. Hotel room was small and outdated.
We were visiting our son for parents weekend. He's in college in Ann Arbor. The hotel was very nice and so was the staff The price was ridiculous for a Hampton inn, over $300 per night. Fine for a high end luxury hotel, not a Hampton inn
The room had some nice decor. I appreciated the "green" touches. Where do I begin? I wanted to relax in a bath, but the water would only fill 1/3 of the way. Oh, how relaxing lying in three inches of water! The big issue: I was over-charged an additional $150. When I called to figure out what was going on, I was told it was the booking site's fault. Repeatedly. I offered to send my reservation confirmation. Then, and only then, was I told they'd find a way to refund my money. And, was again told it wasn't their fault. The money will take 3-4 days to be refunded. With no response to a follow-up email asking why they had charged my account a second time, I called the hotel, was accidentally hung up on and then called back. The same manager from before told me repeatedly how busy she'd been all day. I felt like I was a nuisance. She was kind enough to say she'd look into the root of the problem. And kind enough to suggest I always double-check my room rates when checking in. Even if it's confirmed. First, that's not my job. Second, their mistake is not mine or any other guest's fault. They like to blame anyone else. Even you. Even if they say it sweetly, it's still not right. Traveler beware. Double check your room rate and your bank account if you stay here.
Convenience to location. Very friendly staff. Comfortable and fairly good value for money. There were left overs from previous guests in the room fridge.
Checking in was very quick, Staff was friendly and bag breakfast was convenient
Snacks and water waiting for me in my room upon arrival. I received a recommendation and a coupon for a free appetizer at an excellent local restraunt which I used. The eggs at the breakfast were dry and the shower pressure was not very good.
The breakfast was terrific. The spa was also relaxant.
comfy pillows, good breakfast, quiet, pool, work out area, fridge and microwave in room could use a little more cleaning, doors slam, would be nice to have a larger lobby to lounge
Very convenient for visiting the University of Michigan's North Campus. Having a large granite counter with a sink and mirror outside the bathroom really helps more than one person get ready, There was room on the floor of our "Superior King Room" (next to the desk) for us to put a twin air bed that allowed our child to visit us overnight vs. staying in the dorm. The heater was difficult to accurately control. It took awhile to find a setting that wasn't over the top hot or freezing. When we did, it was comfortable although a bit loud.
Convenient location No coffee making equipment in room
The extra desk space made working on the road easier.
The room was clean and well set-up. The outlets embedded in the nightstand are a nice touch.
Price It's a motel, door exits to the outside (snow and wind)
The breakfast deal with Big Boy I can't believe it was that expensive and there were no hair dryers, the key didnt work, no aaa discount, etc. way over priced. Will never stay there again.
The hotel was very clean and conveniently located for Parents Weekend for University of Michigan. The price was ridiculous for the rooms.
Convenient location The room had odors. Housekeeping didn't do a great job and one day didn't come at all. The free breakfast was little more than toast and coffee. And a "no smoking" room apparently means it's ok for everyone to stand in front of the rooms and smoke. I'll stay elsewhere next time.
It was convenient. bed was a little small
close to highway beds very uncomfortable, didn't even have bed skirts on them! you would think even for $60 it would have been a little nicer. in room movies ere $15.99 which is ridiculous.
Very predictable. Close to where we needed to be for a wedding and to the amenities of Ann Arbor. Beds were lumpy and uncomfortable.
Location awesome.. located within walking distance of the mall. Staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was horrible. No variety and the waffle maker kept sticking. When I bought it to the attention of one the staff she told me 'Oh I will figure something out, but never did...
Clean, easily accessible, with a shopping mall next door and easy interstate access. This was a perfect choice for us.
The indoor pool, the lounge area both inside and out, and the bistro's food choices. In the morning, it offers Starbuck's coffee and in the evening, it is a full bar. The fitness room didn't have much in the way of equipment and weights.
Dining off of the lobby was cool. TV's in the booths, very handy, breakfast was good and made fresh and quickly. Also liked the technology in the main lobby. Computers available , a big TV with seating for viewing, a special computer set up to quickly print boarding passed (very convenient), lots of seating for small gatherings. Also, all done with a nice modern décor. Hallway carpet to rooms seemed old in style, though room was nicely styled.
We liked the service, room , opportunities to shop, and the décor. We my wife and I came down for some appointments at the V.A. Hospital and as luck would have it we chose The Red Roof . We were pleased enough that the next time we come to Ann Arbor it will be a much longer stay there. We already are aware of the many things to see and do in Ann Arbor . We will take some time to further explore . I can't say we could find anything we didn't like about the room or the area it was in.
Room had a musty smell. Either had a smoker recently or had not been cleaned thoroughly in some time.
Near freeway Old facility, needs remodel, bath tub old repaired chipped. Poor choice of food at breakfast bar. Not within walking distance of anything, but I knew that when I booked.
There were enough towels for everyone. People were screaming all night, so we weren't able to get any sleep. The heater for the room was left on all day and the room was still cold when we got back. The bathroom floor was really dusty. The staff was kind of rude (literally no one smiled at us, not once).
The room was clean and comfortable . The service in the front desk was fast and professional .
Frig wasn't clean, that was my only complaint
We did not spend all our time in the room, only mornings and nights, but the time we spent everything was to our liking and everything was great value for money. It's not an extravagant hotel, but we did not choose it for that. It can be slightly noisy at night, but i still managed to get adequate sleep. All in all, it was a great time I wish HDMI cable for the TV worked with the external output. Wanted to connect my laptop to watch some movies, but didn't work
Very quiet, great location and very good breakfast offerings. Nothing.
