Superb location, so central. The staff member at reception on checking in was really friendly and helpful. Lovely room, very spacious as was the bathroom where the shower cubicle was separate from the bath which I love The price - it is very expensive though you do get what you pay for
Very good breakfast. Cleanliness. Good bed Everything OK
Staff were competent, helpful and genuinely friendly.
As always: I like the location and the nice atmosphere of this hotel. It is very clean and the staff is realy nice and helpfull. Great breakfast. So I will look forward to my next stay .
Able to utilise my HHonours so free upgrade to Executive Suite and Lounge
A friendly environment in the heart of Antwerp with all comfort.
privacy, quiet, central location shower broken. Towels had holes in them.
Beautiful stay at the hotel. Perfect location and the room was nice very nice and comfortable. For sure I will come back again. Breakfast was too expensive, so I didn't try.
Big rooms, comfortable beds, 2 chairs, big bathroom, good shower, great location just a block or so from the cathedral Staff kept asking for a voucher. I sent them the confirmation email and eventually that satisfied them.
They didnt respect your reservation and tell us they dont have rooms even we get confirmation from kayak
We liked the central location, near shops, restaurants and touristic sights and the size, comfort and cleanliness of the rooms
location ambiance and room furnishings
Quiet location in the centre of Antwerpen, breakfast is ok, clean hotel. a bit expensive but that might be logical for such a room on such a location.
Excellent situation in the heart of the historic centre. Also a very individual hotel totally unlike the usual business chains / brands
I appriciated the serviceminded and kind staff. The room was clean, which is very important for me. Good breakfast. No free access to internet.
The room was light and cheerful and the included breakfast was excellent. Good location. Staff spoke perfect English and was always helpful. Nothing that Ican think of.
Smiling faces. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. We had an upgraded room as the hotel was not full. Welcome glass of sherry or port
Big rooms, excellent location Parking was full. We were adviced to go to park along the river, which turned out to be very expensive (38 E for 24 hours). We only found out after picking up the car.
It was very nice to have a private garden. My wife smokes and we had a non smoking room. It was very nice to have a garden where it was allowed to smoke.
The breakfast was very good, the room was big and clean. Yes, For such a expensive hotel wireless should be for free! A pit poor that you have to buy this at reception.
Good location in central antwerp, but quiet. Good parking nearby. Had stayed at the hotel for some business trips in the past with postive experience. Decided to stay on family weekend, however would not reccomend this hotel for family! Was made to feel quite unwelcome by the staff, the room is far too small for a cot, (we are unable to move) and the terms for costs relating to the hotel providing a cot were not at all clear and the hotel was completely un flexible around this. Also we paid extra for a top floor room. Website gave impression that this was giving some advatange, but there was absolutely none - Do not book this option. Overall dissapointed.
The Banks was an excellent little hotel, perfect location, very funky rooms which were even an ok size, nice helpful staff, very nice breakfast included and great value for money. Its new and seems not quite finished yet, but no major construction going on just small things. Very highly recommended, if you want a nice cheap Design Hotel in Antwerp.
The breakfast was nice and the complimentary evening drinks were a nice touch Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. The room felt a bit like staying in a multi storey carpark. There was no ambience
The Location, the free dinks buffet during happy hour. Small room and transparent (glass) wall between toilet and sleeping part of the room.
The staff was helpful and eager to please. The room was clean with a good view of the city. The hotel rooms has no television or internet access. It was a little too modern for my tastes. The price of a 'suite' seemed too much considering the room.
they could have done more with the rooms. Concrete floors and ceilings are not very appealing to me. Also you should not save money on beds. They could have been better quality so as the sheets; We paid 135 euro a night so you would expect better quality.
I really like this hotel and would love to give it a rave review. The rooms are very nice, but sterile. A simple fresh flower would help. The hotel lacks the perfect balance between what it wants to be and what it actually is. They have a night entrance and no evening personnel. I felt a bit uneasy with this. The air conditioning unit started leaking water in the middle of the night. Sadly, it is a very impersonal experience. I feel it is priced a bit too high considering the lack of amenities and services.
The Banks Hotel is well-situated in the city center, particularly for those in town for a fashion industry related trip. Also, there is a coffee/tea machine in the lobby that is self-serve for guests, and a complimentary happy hour + tapas from 16h30-20h30. The hotel lobby closes at 20h30 and from that point forward, guests have to enter through a side door by swiping a badge-- it works fine, but is not the most hospitable move for a hotel of its stature. The rooms have an industrial aesthetic which is appealing, though the lack of color makes it feel a bit 'cold.'
The hotel is need and very modern--clean, comfortable bed. Flowing coffee. Close to the center of Antwerp. No telephone service in room! I did got my receipt when I left early on Sunday, Sept 14 because no one was manning reception early. But I already paid my bill upon check-in.
Good breakfast helpful staff. Improvement for the room stated above
I like the refinement - both in the decor and the attitude of the staff. Nothing.
Ambiance, location, friendly staff Room was a bit noisy
breakfast, hotel design price too high for the service, room to be decorated on the wall
The hotel was clean and comfortable and very near the city centre Our room overlooked the front and a tram goes past constantly
Location was great, but it was not a boutique hotel and the staff welcome was average. No atmosphere, poor value for money.
it was personalised. It was attractive and the rooms appeared to be very individula the breakfast was poor. No pot of coffee merely a machine with small cups. Noone to help with luggage. Shower in bathroom was cramped and bath was small
Our Junior Suite was spacious, with a huge and comfortable double bed, 2-seat sofa plus armchair. The room also had an Internet corner, safe, minibar, trouser-press, small TV with dvd player, and a good bathroom with plenty of towels, bathrobes, and soaps/gels etc. The breakfast was excellent, with a coffee machine available 24 hours. The hotel is quietly situated on the corner of 2 small streets, yet just a 5-minute stroll to the Grote Markt, shops and dozens of restaurants. It would be difficult to imagine a better place to stay for a city break to Antwerp.
It is in the centre of one of the best towns in Belgium. Dinner, shopping, museum and river Scheldt are all in walking distance with excellent parking facilities. Hotel was nicely decorated and breathed ambiance.
The reception staff were very very helpful, it was quiet but central location, nice design of classic building, would stay there again. Breakfast, the scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage was cold, but the breakfast lady said that it was warm. not good.
Second time at this hotel in Antwerp. It's an independent hotel that caters for guests who want something different. Lovely building and the decor plays on a classical style. Most importantly very clean room with little noise as its set off from the main road. Relaxed crowd typical of Antwerp, which is a positive.
The excellent location in the centre of the city The room was fairly small and crowded with furniture.
Location and a very quiet room 24 hour tea and coffee in reception; reception staff helpful although they did mislead us over the Brussels railway stations for Eurostar (It is midi/Zuid not Central!) Room was not that great and walls quite dirty; bathroom also old and not feeling clean. Breakfast was poor at 9 am after the other guests had taken most of it; on quieter day it was excellent. Also not easy to get taxis there - didn't bother us as we could walk.
The location was very convenient. The room was very old and the window was a bit difficult to close
Good location and friendly staff
Location. Restaurants are open late. Room too small. No bath, shower only. Safe did not work. Water kettle turned coffee/tea salty. Too many little annoyances. Poor breakfast. (good scrambled eggs though) . Internet cable too short. Bring your own.
The hotel was in a good location, right near the main square. Hotel is clean and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Also, they have complimentary tea/coffee/soft drinks in the lobby. It was hard to find. The road that it's located on isn't on many maps because of how small it is.
Relaxed, friendly, very attentive sevice. Excellent help booking and recommending special restaurants. Lovely to unwind by the intimate open fire with complimentary glass of beer or wine after a long day sightseeing and shopping. Simple but chic accommodation. Great showers. The sophisticated sound system in the room was erratic and the plug in the bathroom basin did not work, but these were small inconveniences.
Super location in the middle of the old city. Excellent breakfast served at a neighboring wine restaurant. You are within minutes from all the great sights and excellent in Antwerp. I happened to get the noisy room. My room was close to the reception where everyone passes. But the assured told me that the all other rooms are quiet and next time I should ask for a quiet room.
Very nice rooms, very good location
Good accommondation, Good service
The location, perfect for the historic centre of Antwerp and the design district. One problem, common to all city centre hotels, is the noise from the street.
The staff were really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Always smiling. With it being a smaller hotel it felt much more personal, and when we arrived the person who checked us in made us feel really wecome. Check in was quick, we were in our room in minutes - which was great after a long journey to get there. Overall our stay in this hotel was a comfortable experience. We had read reviews saying the rooms were too small, however we found ours to be absolutely fine, we had no problems - and we had a fair bit of luggage with us. The ceiling was not as sound proof as we would have liked, we could clearly hear the people above moving around above us. Had they been doing this very late at night or often it would have disturbed our sleep. However the double glazing shut out any noise from the street - which made the room quiet otherwise.
the warmth and welcome of the owner, relaxed comfortable and homely atmosphere, very central.
The location was fantastic, the surroundings charming and the host and hostess went out of their way to make our stay memorable.Nothing was too much trouble for them and we had a marvellous time in Antwerp.
Location. Comfort. Historic building. No
accomodation, friendlyness, close to shopping and historical centre of Antwerp NA
A historic house, quiet location yet right in the centre of town, large room, large modernised bathroom with all facilities. Not everything was quite ready in the room when I arrived, but it was soon sorted out.
The room is so romantic and quiet; you dont hear any noise of the city, while it is situated in the middle of antwerp /
Friendly staff, clean and very nice rooms. Directly located in the centre, everything in walking distance.
The design of the room: modern, complete (with everything fitted in a small space). The bed. The owners: discreet but friendly. The breakfast (even if we didn't have the small cakes shown on the B&B site!). We stay on the second floor room where the door is a glazed one: a curtain or something against the light would be necessary for a good night sleep. The noise was terrible until 4 am as the B&B is located on a place with bars. It seems that it is not the case all the time: but anyway better avoid the hotel in Summer when the terraces are all opened! As consequence we didn't sleep well (but the owners had the same problems & the man was very sorry in the morning!).
Very welcoming owners. Rooms very well fitted out. Small kitchen area a big plus. And the fresh breakfast basket left outside your door in the morning is just a great idea. Fantastic fresh bread, ham, cheese, and orange juice freshly squeezed to die for. Why anyone would want to give this accomodation a bad review is beyone me - its fab!!
very friendly host, breakfast sublime internet didn't work
The room is very nice and extremely clean, it is truly a pleasure to stay there. Also, the breakfast is really good, in quality and quantity, and very nicely presented. The only thing we did not like, which is not the B&B problem but around, is that the building beside it is under construction, so the work noises start at 9am and sound quite close.
Lovely room, friendly staff, superb breakfast, We only stayed one night as we were travelling to another destination, but almost wanted to cancel the rest of our trip to stay longer at the hotel.
Large room, high ceilings room ventilation
location was in heart of the city room was in different location than stated on reservation
Proximity to main tourist areas
The location is very good and nearby are many nice restaurants. The price I was quoted was not the price I was charged.
I was robbed in this hotel at 4:00am on my 2nd morning there. A man woke me knocking at the door with a lie that got him inside my room. He grabbed my wallet, we struggled, he fled. Next day the woman in charge was extremely unsympathetic, & though it's true that I shouldn't have allowed him in my room, you'd like a bit of sympathy under those circumstances. Also, how did he get inside the hotel? And was it pure luck that let him knock on the door of a guest who was old and travelling alone? The circumstances were fishy, though I have no proof of anything dishonest. It's really unattractive. I.e., it's furnished & decorated in bad taste. But the location is good & everything worked that was supposed to. And breakfast was good.
The staff were extremely helpful, pleasant and upbeat. The breakfast was excellent and once we deciphered the tourist map we were within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to visit. Consistant hot water for a decent shower was not possible, but for the price and location one can live with the minor inconvenience for a short term stay.
Location is excellent and staff friendly. Service limited but in keeping with the price.
The excellent staff. The very friendly lady at the reception gave us all kinds of shopping and restaurant tips and marked them all on a map. Also, the location is great and easy to reach by car.
The location is in down town The service is poor: late breakfeast (unconvenient for business travellers), bad isolation between rooms, impolite staff. Don't forget your soap&shampoo because the staff might forget to provide you some everyday. Too expensive for what it is!
The hotel is the same as former hotel Postiljon and has just been rebranded. Rooms and central facilities are well redecorated. Breakfast room and seatings around the nice fire place are stylish. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Warm and cosy atmosphere, because it's not one of those big (chain) hotels. Because the hotel is right opposite the cathedral, we found the loud ringing of the clocks disturbing. Also, the bar(s) just around the corner played loud music during the night. The bedroom and bathroom are only separated by a wall that is not closed till the ceiling (also no door). Might be disturbing to people that want/need privacy while in the bathroom.
hotel ok, location very good, no door in bathroom
The staff were exceedingly helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect for a city break to Antwerp. The 'open plan' nature of the bathroom and toilet.
The new owners have made some positive changes, for example giving the rooms some fresh paint, installing a fridge downstairs (it is pleasant to have the possibility to buy drinks downstairs, even get them sent up to your room, for reasonable prices). Breakfast was nice too; good coffee. Overall some nice developments in the Scheldezicht. Still a few things to do, I guess.
Good position The room was scruffy, there was a street light just outside the window and the curtains were thin. The room was ugly.
Simple clean budget hotel. No
free WiFi and free breakfast (small but good) you can hear the neighbors when they cross your door or want to go upstairs
The location of the hotel was great as it was close to interesting museums and lovely cafes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very cold as there did not seem to be any heating. There was no toilet in the room. The pillows were far too soft and flimsy which made for an uncomfortable night's sleep.
Excellent location. Rooms were very clean and comfortable; breakfast included a plus. Wi-fi too. Could certainly use a lift, especially if your room is on the fourth floor (fifth floor US).
very close to the city and the river; nice location in the heart of the city During our stay we were literally eaten alive by mosquitos - some proper 'killing-tools' might have been usefull (we used a towel which turned into a grave for dozens of them, and looked like it...), or even better: some anti-mosquito spray.
Friendly staff at Reception The rooms need some TLC My room was on the street and people could see into the room, no privacy. The passages smelled as if there was a blocked drain somewhere.
Friendly service and excellent value for the money, including good lighting, heat, and no-frills shower; cleanliness (including shared toilet) lumpy mattress
big room, clean shower beds not too comfortable
The location was very good. Very conveniently located, close to restaurants and shops. On sunday morning there is a cute little anitque market in front of the hotel! We had a room for 2 persons which was on the 4th floor, many stairs to go and it was at the attic which made the room way smaller than all the other rooms. The beds where like camping beds, which weren't comfortable at all. Do not go here for any luxury, but it was clean - therefor a good price - quality balance.
central location noisy
The staff was friendly and very accomodating.
the central location, near the cathedral before us,the room was used by smokers
Excellent location; very clean.
It was very cebtral abd close to historic sites and restaurants etc. The fact that the rooms did not have a toilet -it is better not to have to share a toilet with other guests
The location was absolutely incredible. Open the window, and you're looking directly at the grand Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal, the cathedral on all the Antwerp postcards. The room was nice, nothing spectacular, but for the price and location, the place was excellent. Not a problem for me and my partner, but the glass shower enclosure was right there in the room. "Double Room with Washbasin - Toilet in Hall" is probably not a good idea for business/family travelers.
Excellent situation, even with the cathedral bells! No fire exit - not obvious anyway Very steep narow stairs, could be dangerous
The location was excellent - right next to the cathedral! The view from the window was fantastic - you need to book a room with a shower to get the view. I booked a double room but got twin beds. The room itself was very basic.
