Rooms and location is great, underground parking just in front of the hotel and metro is just down the road. Good views from quiet rooms and one full non-smoking floor. Breakfast in the basement disapointing. The room is great for other uses, but starting the day in a dark vault after being woken by the sun is a turnoff. Better to grab breakfast close by or across the street.
Excellent service, beautiful decoration interior and exterior, great location
In the heart of the city, and walking distance to many shoppings. Capable staff who can really be help in English. Not really.
Excellent stay - very helpful staff. It is a shame that their bar, dining room and breakfast charges are so high when compared to comparable non-hotel establishments (e.g. glass of wine is 11 Euros at the hotel vs 2 Euro's) that we really didn't use the bar facilities. We would have (and can afford to) but at the end of the day, we felt it to be a rip-off and did not do so. A real shame - we would have been happy to pay a premium but one that was so totally out of keeping with the rest of the city.
Excellent location, and facilites. Very close to metro station (<5mins walk). Breakfast somewhat expensive. Very small gourmet restaurant which was excellent, but imited menu. Room rather small, with only one armchair.
building and inerior and location
The hotel's design is exciting; it is a historical piece of art. The location is perfect. We liked everything
Great breakfast , for the 25 euro you get a really great food. Very good location, beautiful interior design. The rooftop with pool and bar was closed for the night.
View and balcony right on Gracia. Amazing!
The Staff was excellent- polite, attentive and knowledgable. The Hotel is well located and very well maintained. We were very pleased with our choice and everything about the Hotel. Although the rooms are very prety to look at, they are not as functional as they should be, particularly at that price... there are no shelves or drawers to unpack and place clothing ( except the very narrow hangging closet next to each side of the bed). Also, there is no shelf or rack in the shower to place any toiletries- a large soap dish at the least would be suffice. It is a classic example where Form does NOT follow Function...but, it looks good!!
very close to public transport and main areas of barcelona. nice coffee shops and supermarket close by the bathroom smelt a little, but since we were not there very often, not much of a problem.
The rooms were very clean and the staff were okay. The location was okay the taxi drivers found it easily. the staff on duty was not so familiar with with the tours. she could not help us book the city tours though the hotel had brochures.
I booked this hotel by accident when I was looking for an airport hotel the night before we departed. We ended up mostly happy with it. It's located in a fun neighborhood that wasn't overrun with tourists. Lots of restaurant choices, shops and night life. The hotel itself was quiet, convenient and clean. The staff was helpful and courteous. While the hotel was well-maintained, the elevator seemed a bit rickety though we didn't have any mishaps. The pillows were pretty awful, dense and thick for our taste. Also, in the morning, when my husband went to get out of bed, he struck and cut his forehead on a metal-edged corner right by the bed. A rough way to wake up!
Exelent location and both the room and staff were super given that they had huge difficulties with a national strike during our stay there Breakfast staff and food could be a whole better
The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel location is very convenient for the main sites of interest, and much cleaner and less noisy than the Ramblas. The back rooms look out on a building site, which is ugly and not scenic, however it is quieter at night, the front rooms are noisy with the windows open, the rooms are heated & hot (in March). However I would stay there again.
A very good value for money - a nice and clean hotel, just minutes away from the center, and yet quiet.Very helpful staff.
Excellent hotel location and staff
Great location. Air conditioner would not keep room cool.
it was clean and conveniently located. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was overpriced. Why can't breakfast be included in the room charge..?
This hotel was great. reallly good value for money and the location was great close to Gracia which had lots of nice restaurants and bars and also walking distance to the centre (probably about 20 mins to placa catalunya) metro stop also right at the corner of the street. I would definately stay here again if i was returning to barcelona the only negative thing was that the air conditioning was a bit loud
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We were also impressed with the attention to detail paid by the housekeeping staff in cleaning our room
Lovely room and good breakfasts Beds were rather hard but that is just personal preference
IT was near the train station. Liked having the kitchenette. The staff were lovely. Room was comfortable. didn't like the cold floor but that's normal in a warm country!
The staff really went out of their way to help in every way. Nothing
The renovated rooms were excellent. The staff were excellent - always friendly and ready to help. The location was fantastic - near great shopping, restaurants and local sights - not touristy. The beds were a little hard and the pillows were not standard shape and too soft, they could have been more comfortable. Also as a couple staying we would have like the two single beds made up as a double... There was also a bit of noise through the bathroom from the neighbouring room, it didn't disrupt us - we just noticed it a few times.
the nice hotel staff , the access to the internet
It was centrally located and the room had been recently renovated. It had good catering facilities within the room. The room was too small to be comfortable, especially the bathroom which was minute.
The location was close to the main tourist attractions, yet in a quiet area. It was very good value for money, very clean, and staff were most helpful. The bathroom and bed were a little on the small side for us. The kitchenette was very basic.
Basic and clean hotel. In a safe location. The view from the room was not very pleasant.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room we had was basic but very comfortable and clean. A great hotel to explore barcelona.
The reception staff were friendly. The room our floor was on was non-smoking. The proximity to the metro station, very convenient. Kitchen-cupboard was great, as you could store food in the fridge. The walls seemed to be a bit on the thin side, and you could hear furniture being moved around upstairs. The breakfast was expensive, since we have a light breakfast.
Very handy location and extremely helpful staff
jacuzzi inside the room Location. The neighborhood isn't the problem (there are no place to park the car and the hotel charges 22euro/day) but the easiness to get the hotel isnt good.
The hotel located pretty close to the back of the Park Güel and even to the underground station. The public transport connection is perfect.
close to metro and parc grüel. breakfast good. oldfashioned PC
The view from the room. It is being refurbish all over and work starts during early morning. It was really bad, could not sleep well. Corridor extremelly dirty during the day and night.
The Hotel Staffs
It worked for me. But if you are coming to Barcelona for the tourist activities you may want to find something closer to the Gothic Quarter. Easy access to Parc Guell and Gracia and near the tram stop Vallcarcas whick is good as most areas of the city will be by metro. Buy the T-10. Clean and freindly. It has a lift with is a plus in my book. This is a far quieter hotel than you will find in the tourist areas. Not much around the hotel but Cafe Rincon on Ave Republic of Argentina is walking distance and has good bar food. It was priced right for BCN WIFI dropped often. I had to reconnect all the time. Not much around the hotel but that made for a quieter stay.
It was close to park Guel and a metro station. Good value for money, because we didn`t book breakfast. 13 eur per breakfast per person is too much. You can have a good breakfast for a lower price.
The view from the rooftop pool is amazing. Housekeeping staff very nice. Room in desperate need of repairs. For instance wallpaper bubbling out from wall and border along wall/floor coming off. Overall dingy feel. Room ac did not cool well. Set to a low temp at nite and would never feel cool. Never watched tv put it was placed at a strange location facing the opposite wall from the head of the bed so u could not watch it from bed. Went to bar and had two drinks each (4 total) and was charged 42 €. Never ate there after bar incident cause I didn't want to get overpriced mediocre food with so many great restaurants around. Pool looks large in pics but in reality it's very small. Some of the front desk staff were very nice and others unfriendly and cold.
Was not too bad,but needs improvement. The wi-fi was not working at all during our 2 days stay. Hotel was very busy with american tourists that were very loud and kept us awake all night. The hotel staff couldn't do much about it.
Breakfast, staff and housekeeping was excellent. Breakfast was only 7,5 euro! Noise travels through the sink and wall.
The location is quite good, very close to the Guell park, and the bus 22 takes you directly to Catalunya. The subway is close as well, throgh the viaduct around 5-8 minutes. The price was good, and the stuff was helpful. The corridors are very narrow, and the doors are very close to each other. You cannot close the doors without shutting them. we had all the time children groups on the same floor running around shouting and shutting the doors, these started around 8am and stopped around 11pm. So if you are not there at that time it is fine...:)
This charming facility is a gem in Barcelona. We like the atmosphere which is cosy and comfortable. The design of the hotel is stylish and outstanding. And the person in charge Adom is both receptive and informative. He was always helpful and willing to go an extra mile The overall experience was fabulous. I would definitely refer anyone to come here. Good job Casa Dover. Nothing. The only thing I can think of is the noise form the street in the morning. But hey Barcelona is a big city. and this is not unusual for a big city. i can totally take that.
Very nice staff, modern and elegant rooms, convenient location, agreeable atmosphere. Friendly Bed and Breakfast-like concept with very competitive pricing. Room II receives quite some noise from both the street, the nearby bar, and the common space in the hotel. Although this is a common issue in (Spanish) cities, this room is not recommended for light sleepers.
The manager is pretty helpful and I like the opportunity to meet and talk with other guests while having breakfast. Availability if wi fi was super cool (although connection is a little on and off). Nicely decorated. The facility is a little poor. No hair dryer, no basic soap and shampoos (although luckily we brought our own), and probably just a small TV will be nice. This is the only place we stayed during all our travellings that does not hv the basics, and we stayed already in hotels, B&B, rental apartment, etc.. The price we paid here is about the same as the price to 3 star boutique hotel in the same area. So if casa dover could add a little more attention to these little details I am sure they will be lovely!
flexibility, interior design, cleaness noise on the street - hard to have a good night sleep
Lovely clean and friendly hotel. Central position but not too close to the crowds. In fact the walk from the hotel to the central attractions took you through all the main streets you would want to walk down anyway. Loved everything, the only small point was that the Hotel wasn't well signed so was a little difficult to find.
The manager (Christian)was excellent and went the extra mile to ensure the stay was great - suggesting places to eat, giving advice and taking good care of guests. None
What is the nicest in the Casa Dover is the hostel atmosphere, service and location. This is a pair of flats located in a nice old building in the first half of the twentieth century. The hotel staff was very nice:) Everything was OK
full use of well stocked kitchen 24 hours. really difficult to find and access
It's location and home comfort are the best ways of Casa Dover
Fantastic location, very close to la Sagrada Familia cathedral. We stayed in a the double room with private bathroom and shared terrace. The room was very cosy and beautifully presented, shower was powerful and hot.The staff were incredibly friendly and could not do enough to help us during our stay. We loved the communal areas where we could eat breakfast or watch the TV on the comfy sofas after a long day sightseeing. Would definitely stay again. Would have preferred to have breakfast a little earlier. It was served at 9am each day which meant we couldn't start our day as early as we would have liked.
Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. The location is close to the shopping and tourist areas but also to non-tourist areas as well. There was a smell of blocked drains in the bathroom - my room was on th 9th floor.
helpfull staff, clean & nice rooms, good location, breakfast was a little expensive
There is no separation between bathroom and toliet, the toliet was wet after having a bath
Centrale near the Metro train Lot of noice from the road.
Friendly staff The vierw out of some wndows was not nice (dirty and smelly)
good position, clean, new poor tv channel selection, bad design of the shower that leads to arose a big part of the bathroom
Good value for money. Located in a quiet, yet central neighborhood.
Water leaking from shower door, no soap holder in the shower and next to the sink
Great rates and good location. A short hop to town but you're out of the jam packed area.
The hotel has a very good location, 5 minutes from the metro. The area is secure, you have a lot of shops nearby. The wireless connection is excellent. The room was very clean and the breakfast was good. I would come back again here and I strongly recommend it. The staff was superficial, they gave me wrong information regarding some buses I wanted to take to get away from Barcelona. Communication is far from desirable.
the location was good. Close to the underground station and only 3 stops from placa Catalunya. The interior looks new and is very pleasant. There is air con which is a neccesity in the summer months. The only drawback is the lack of the fridge ( mini bar) in the room. After all day of sightseeing you dream about laying down and drinking something cool, not in there I mean it is cool if it straight from the shop.
Good location close to Parc Guell. I booked the duplex room cause I was travelling with a friendly couple, so we thought to save some money and share the same room which was on two floors with and internal ladder. big mistake! The couple that slept on the room on the first floor had no complains. I had to sleep on the single bed on ground floor. The matress was too thick like sleeping on a bench, I was next to the parking lot from one side of the room and next to the road from the other side. No heating on ground floor, too noisy, not even one hanger for my clothes, plus the wall was full of moisture, jacuzzi was also not working but this is the less. I freezed during the night, woke up with a runny nose. I filed a complaint form asking for refund of my money.
Excellent price and very good value for money. Hotel and interior is new, beds are comfortable. Very convinent subway connection to city center.
The style of the room, the bathroom, the silent and the bus and metro are nearby only the beds are a little bit hard
The room was lovely as in addition to the basic bed and the bathroom it had a spiral staircase that descended into a living room, quite unusual There was no information that you needed to rent out a remote for TV and the blinds- so it took few seconds to realise that on your own. The hotel was close to Gaudi Museum but somewhat far (on foot) from everything else. There are some works being done on the main station once you get off at Lesseps metro station so it was not easy to see where the Av. Argentina was- and therefore to locate the hotel. Still the Spanish were fantastic and even if they were not able to communicate in English, were incredibly helpful.
solo la disponibilità delle receptionist-I appreciated only availability of staff at the reception. I disliked the dust everywhere, they used to do cleaning very late, one day we came in the room it was 5:00 PM still they hadn't cleaned, I had to complain. When we arrived room wasn't ready and they were 14:00 PM when we booked there was written check in starting from 13:00 PM. They gave us a very worth room, bidet was obstruct and Hairdryer broken. For having bidet repaired I had to tell them three times and only last time somebody came in front of me to repair it. I don't think it is a three stars hotel, this is only a two stars.
The welcoming professional staff when we arrived. The dark & durty room. One lampe was not change. The noise of the staff at the cafeteria at 12pm & at 6am. The staff of the cafeteria is not welcoming and always in a hurry for us to leave. Once, a member wanted to clean our table whereas we had not finish !!! And they reduce the space of the cafeteria too, the place was crowded but it was easier for them to clean it !!! We had not enough towels once and not enough brush glasses throughout our stay. The mastresses are too old. I had a backache for 2 days !!!
Staff was very helpful and spoke excellent English Location was far from most of the sights. Beds were not comfortable.
None The service was appauling. The drainage wasn't working well and A/C wasn't good.
large and clean rooms, in front of hotel is a construction area distance to the metro station is 500m no frige
stylish decoration!i loved the terrace in the mornings it was full of sun, staff was recommanding cool cultural things to do,live music, modern museoms.all and all wonderful experience in barcelona. nothing
great place!!feel like you can stay forever:)..the staff were amazing, they know all about barcelona, where to eat,or going out,art..certainly a value hostel@@@thanx
convenient location with easy access to metro n bus no computer/internet stations. Lockers in dorms did not come with lock. No individual light for each bunk bed.
I stay in Casa Gracia whenever I visit Barcelona and have always been impressed but it has come on leaps and bounds in the last year. It's always very clean, the staff helpful and the rooms simple but pleasant. The ground floor bar is a great addition and executed as tastefully as the rest of the hostel. I'm yet to find a negative.
Thanks alot guys!!!! really helped me with activities and things to see in Barcelona. Very friendly staff who took care of us. Great location!! Fantastic atmosphere! I will come back!!!I Thanks!!
The receptionists were so nice and they let us keep our luggage there before checking in and after checking out. They have the best maps of the city and were very helpful pointing out attractions and how to get places. Everything was very clean and they had free laptops for us to use the internet. Amazing location, right on Passeig de Gracia, 5 minute walk to Placa Catalunya
Localisation, rooms, price/relation ratio. Room 103, which doesnt have a proper window. It is probably regularly offered to all the guests, in hope that someone will be shy and will not make a scene. In comparison to other, very nice rooms, this one is a total misunderstanding.
very clean rooms, friendly staff, towels were changed every day, central location, only a few steps from metro station and sights very noisy, hardly any sleep because of street noise
The hotel was extremely clean and very well located. Although the room was small, it was just enough for getting good rest. The facilities were really good as well. Hotel personnel was attentive and friendly.
It was wonderful being so close to the Gracia part of town, away from too many tourists. You may need earplugs if you get a room towards the street.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, I've got big clean quiet room with very comfortable bed, bathroom is well equipped. The only minus is internet connection, it's not always ok in the room, but quite enough to check e-mail and use ICQ. If I go to Barcelona second time I hope they will have a room for me =)
Good value, clean, good position. Courtains were not very thick, leave light enter in the room.
As usual the location is perfect near the underground right on the paseo de gracia Noisy as usual and not enough dark in the room the curtains are very light
Answered door very quickly. Clean towels each day Shower leaked - suggest basin goes all the way across back wall Could there be a kettle in each room?
Welcome and situation are great. It seems that the sofa bed mattress has been improved compared to the website guests comments. The street where the hotel is located is very noisy specially on saturdays until 6 AM. May be Hostal Hmb could invest in doubled glass window specially for streetside bedrooms. Better to bring earplugs.
Good location, near the town center and close to public transportation. Clean and newly renovated rooms. Very small and dark rooms.
Friendly staff, clean room, central position, good price/quality ratio -
