Back Bay neighborhood townhouses converted to hotel . . . didn't "stay" in Boston for a night --- I lived in Boston for a night . . . love this place . . . will be my 1st choice for Boston in future
The price for being two blocks away from Prudential center was great as the event I was attending was being held there. Clean sheets, floors, and otherwise. Friendly and helpful staff! The walls were thin enough where I could clearly hear any noises including coughs, grumbles and otherwise of next door patrons.
location 2 flights of stairs
Love the location, very close to everything we wanted. Fenway was just a quick walk away as well as a few nice bars. However there were two different tram lines just a few blocks away to get anywhere not within walking distance. Room was small but clean with all the amenities required. Didn't care for the coffee, however there was a 711 two blocks down that had green mountain coffee so all was well there. Also didn't care for having to park a few blocks away, but for $15 a day parking, it was better than getting a ticket.
The responsiveness of the staff was good when there were problems. The room had not been checked properly prior to being let to us. We had to change rooms as the first one had blinds that did not fit the window so our privacy was compromised. The second room in which we stayed was not clean including plates in the cupboards. We had to wash them before use. The tv did not work due to a broken cable. We had no way of controlling the heating when it was chilly and had to call for it to be switche in on more than one occasion. There were no cooking utensils or cutlery in the room and the gas cooker would not ignite automatically with no provision of a manual lighter. The carpet was filthy around the edges, the whole place needed a good clean, thick dust lay along the edge of the carpet.
Great location, well-furnished apartments Not handicap accessible and no mention of that on the website or in any of the information provided. My room was on the 3rd floor in a building with no elevator. The only interaction I had with staff prior to check out was because I emailed to ask them about a late arrival; did not talk to or hear from anyone else other than that.
The location and full kitchen facilities. It was within walking distance of all activities we were involved with. Excellent location for subway. Shower heads were extremely noisy. Adjacent room shower woke us.
My new wife and I honeymooned there for one night. It was an old building, but clean and well-furnished. Each little apartment has everything you need, plus ours had a nice view. The bed was fantastically comfortable and we enjoyed being able to eat food we made ourselves at at little table. Staff was kind and pleasant to deal with. This place is not new or renovated or fancy by any standards, but well maintained and cozy, and a great value. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking to stay at a decent place in Boston for a good price! The cheap shampoo and soap provided smelled a little weird, and there was a funny little device on the wall that may have been meant for a lamp or some device that had exposed wires. We parked at Alewife station for $7 and took the T in because the parking at Copley House is $20 and the cheapest around (and we hate driving in Boston traffic). Still, the good outweighed these minor inconveniences!
feel very easy to stay The window can not open, so the room lacks of fresh air.
My room had been recently refurbished. decor very nice - and good size. would be good for longer term stay as it had kitchenette. Stairwell was narrow - no elevator which was not an issue for me, but might be. also the office staff was not always present: "on break, back shortly, sorry for inconvenience"
We lived in Back Bay in the past so the old sounds and smells of an authentic row house were familiar and expected when we reserved the room. It was clean, albeit old and aging, the kitchenette useful and well supplied, the chairs and table at the bay windows and view very nice. There are stores nearby for food as well as nice takeouts. It is not for everyone - but we loved it! To be in the center of Boston for that price was fantastic. We were able to air out the smell of febreze or the like. It was not needed and if it had not aired out, it would have been a problem.
Lots of space, kitchen facilities, nice street, friendly staff, close to shops, including Prudential Centre and Shaws supermarket, great value - $140 inc tax for a one bed studio. Shower took a long time to heat up, we guess this was because we were in the basement apartment and the boiler was at the top of the building. Think the place is being slowly overhauled as some of kitchen/bathroom units look a little bit bashed, but another suite we looked into as it was being cleaned was really well furnished. Our flat was mostly lovely though. The carpet leading to our room, down the stairs needs replacing and the room next door is the linen room and a big basket of dirty linen was sat in the corridor at one point, but overall this didn't affect our stay. The aircon filter was not clean though so we didn't use it, it does need cleaning. Check in area was cluttered.
Location, staff. Just needs some sprucing up! Just needs sprucing up!
Close to shopping, entertainment, transportation, restaurants.
Great facilities for an extended stay. Breakfast couild be taken in the lounge or taken to your apartment. Good level of equipment an the rooms were well appointed. Free wifi.
The stuffs are ok. The hotel description on the internet and actual hotel completely contradicting. Out of the 5 nights I was staying, I couldn't not able to sleep for a single nights. The banging of the door, people chatting on the corridor late nights, room smell, bed squeaking...etc. contributing for my miserable nights which I never been experiencing before. Judging from all these services and the sanitation of the rooms, washrooms and the corridors, I havent touch the breakfast which was included in the price. This is maybe the biggest mistake I ever made regrading vacationing.
Next to the train and subway station, and not far from downtown and seaport area. Good internet access in the rooms. Very good breakfasts, during the weekend. The room was not very comfortable: no air conditioning, no tap, broken blind. Only two showers for a lot of rooms on the floor.
Close to everything, staff was always friendly, great for the money, hearty free breakfast. n/a
Nothing? Coming from Italy I had not quite clear what a ywca is, I thought it would look like a youth hostel. No ac anywhere, Boston is humid, hot and sticky in summertime. It was deadly hot in the room. Also very expensive for being less that a hostel.
Convenient location Could have told me it's a ywca
Well de breakfast was pretty good and the bathroom, although it was shared, was clean. Also you have a / eleven near and many restaurants close. Nice if you are a Backpacker If you travel by car, the haven´t parking, so nearest was 24$ a day. The room seems old.
the breakfast is very English very big fat, the sockets in the room are all two holes...I could not charge my laptop. the room is also noisy near street, and the heating did work, and the blanket was just better than nothing and I felt very cold in the room.
staff, location private room is without washroom
Reasonable price, great food, breakfast included, Close to downtown
It is cheap, well heated, not far away from downtown Two showers per floor is not enough
Clean, Right price and big rooms There was remodeling going on.
Convenient location & best price in area Friendly service Attractive updated decor Comfortable bed Thin walls... noise in the hall and a little from the busy street interrupted sleep. Shower head is too low for moderately tall man. Loud A/C (which was a bit of a plus because it muffled hall noise, but still...) Was hard to get curtains to close out all the street light (and it's a bright street)
Close to NE university. No restaurant for breakfast but good inexpensive breakfast place just down the street within easy walking.
It was a convenient location. For the price, the hotel was very shabby. It clearly hasn't been rennovated in a long time and was just kind of depressing. For how much they were charging, the hotel should have been much nice. I was disappointed.
The beds were super comfy Rooms were very cold and for the quality of the room that had outdated appliances and not even a mini fridge, the price the price was a little high and the fact that guests have to pay for overnight parking is slightly ridiculous.
I know it's Boston but still overpriced. Had a lot of luggage that I by had to climb stairs with because there was no elevator. Small bathroom. No electrical outlets.
Location AC off during my stay it was 45 degree outside I have to open the only window.
The staff were very nice. Location OK to resturants The size of the beds were small. Had 2 double beds and they were short. Charged for car to be parked. No continental breakfast or even coffee except room coffee Bathroom was small Needs updated
Location is terrific Staff was great Property is clean Older property showing some of its age
The staff was wonderful, let us use their microwave and managed to get us paper plates and utensils on short notice. The location is marvelous. We will be back. There was simply nothing to complain about. Oh, it was a little tricky to get a consistent temperature in the room.
The staff and the location were an are OUTSTANDING!!! No refrigerator in the room. Water pressure was to low for a good shower
Hotel is clean. Swimming pool spotless. It is far from the attractions. You will have to take a taxi or Uber (approx. $10) Very close to Fenway, walking distance.
The room wasn't large but more than large enough for our needs. The shower was great, the room was newly decorated and furnished (great to have an updated hotel), we weren't disturbed by any outside noise and the location was perfect. Hotels aren't cheap in Boston but I thought this was a fair price for a nice hotel and I would stay there again. We stayed only one night.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. There's free coffee and tea in the lobby. (You can't make coffee or tea in the room, though.) The overall atmosphere of the hotel is: young, dynamic, new. Stylish furniture. The neighborhood feels safe.
The restaurant is awesome. Great decor. But the price is too high, especially when there is no parking available. We had to pay 72$ more for parking for the weekend. The lack of parking.
Very good location, I felt like bay back station was even shorter than 5 min away, bus is very close to Boston convention center, friendly staff. The room key deactivated twice during my stay, I wasn't told why so not sure if glitch in the system or if I did something to it but the staff fixed it every time. Also like everybody says about this place small room vey small bathroom but worth it for the price and location.
Stayed overnight and although the room was "European chic" the bed was was a bit to hard, walls were thin could hear our neighbors all night, and the bathroom was nice but very small reminded me of a cruise boat bathroom. Staff was nice and friendly co actual parking but if you were lucky you could find parking out on the street if befor 6pm it's 2 hrs and after it's free until 8am Overall it's okay
Charmig hosts, great interior design, good selection of free coffee at reception
Friendly front desk staff, simple and functional room design, great location, nice service.
A comfortable hotel in a good central city location - close to road links, local transport and restaurants
Location is very good. Cozy. The only flaw is sound insulation.
The location was safe and convenient, and it was almost well priced for the area. The front desk staff was accommodating and helpful. The shower itself was excellent. I knew the room would be tiny, they did a good job alerting customers to this fact, and it was surprisingly well arranged. They used space well, with a couple of tweaks it would be superb for that size room. A refrigerator and safe in the room would be appreciated, also the console should have drawers in it as storage is at a premium. For daily storage requirements I removed the blankets from the only two drawers in the room and stored them on top of the hanger rack. This made the room liveable for a full week. Housekeeping slacked off after I left a tip in the middle of the week for requested bedding change. Very disappointing, resulting in no more tips, and I always tip good housekeepers well. 2" bug in the room. Extremely soft mattresses, way too soft. The window was not in it's track when I arrived. It took two days for me to figure out why my room was so loud. I finally fixed that issue, but new windows would block loud street noise and go very far in making this hotel more comfortable to sleep in.
Unfortunately only there for one night on advice of fellow traveler, location and cleanliness, most important for me, were great. If I'm ever back in Boston will check the Chandler out first. Nil negs from my brief experience.
Good location for going to Boston Commons and Freedom Trail. Nicely renovated, modern rooms. Comfortable beds. Clean bathroom. Very friendly staff. Good access to small bathroom. Neighborhood may not be appropriate for small children.
We had a great experience at The Christopher! The room was clean, well furnished, and quiet. Absolutely zero 'hotel noise'; only the garbage truck Friday morning was heard. As advertised, it's close to the Pru and Copley Centers, and to all of downtown for that matter. The South Corridor Park walking trail, half a block away, gets you from Back Bay Station and Copley Square all the way to the Symphony on a quiet, paved urban trail with no traffic! Giaccomo's Restaurant is true Boston Italian and only steps away. The only things preventing a five-star rating were lack of heat controls in room (it was hot on the top floor) and a leaky sink in unit #8. We'll be staying here again to visit our son at Northeastern University.
The location of this hotel was fantastic. Only ten minutes short walking distance to Back Bay and all of the restaurants, shops etc. The room was dirty. Carpet was not vacuumed, there were animal hairs on the carpet and bedspread. Stairs in the corridor, dirty. Free WIFI advertised -was not available in our room. Free breakfast was just a few cereals but no milk with it - not consumed.
It's a cross between an airbnb and a hotel. We were in a charming neighborhood with a cool, recently renovated, very functional suite. It was safe, convenient (close to the T Station)and attractive. WiFi was iffy. The directory on neighborhood restaurants, etc was missing. Neither was a big problem for us.
This is a small apartment building with several units. There is no hotel staff on premises. I had a decent studio apartment in a neighborhood just a few blocks south of the Hynes convention center. When I got there, I could not get in. I needed to have a keypad entry code for both the front door and my room. I called the property management people, but there was no answer. I left a message, but nobody called back. After about 20 minutes of standing outside, another call did go through. The person I spoke with said that I should have gotten an e-mail with the codes and my room number. He did give me this information, and I did get in. I thought the room was overpriced for what I got, but it was comfortable, and still less expensive than the convention center hotels.
