excelent cental location there is no effective air condition in the room and the room is hot
Too many people for the elevators to handle. I had to wait 10 minutes before an elevator stopped at my floor. And no roomservice.
Breakfast: fresh and nice variety. Internet: fast Very few bathroom items provided by hotel, no space for your own bathroom items, no space for your luggage (no luggage holder), no safe, no shelfes for clothes only hangers, no bathrobe, no slippers, no complimentary mineral water. My hotel room didn't look the same as on the web page, instead of specially requested king bed, I've got 2 beds near each other.
Friendly staff-extensive reception and dining area - very good Buffet breakfast. A/C was not working in my room and it was too warm for the first two of my five night stay. I complained and the only solution apparently was to turn off the heating in my room altogether. This was done but I also had to open a window (21st floor) for the remaining 3 nights.
The walls were a bit thin, and we could hear the people next door talk.
The bed was very comfortable (and this is my most important review criterion). The breakfast was excellent and abundant -- would appeal to many different tastes. Wish I had time to use the spa.
Close to center and to business location It is too warm in the winter. Should be possible with air condition when windows can't be opened.
clean, efficient, comfortable. Reasonable cost if you look for discounted from the hotel's standard room rates. Good Internet access except for capacity to send attachments. television had very poor sound quality. could have offered more channels at optional purchase?
I was "unvolontary" upgraded to a super room at 28th floor - I liked that! All OK.
good location, cofee/tea making facilities in the room, varied breakfast, toiletries am a non-smoker and had a smoking room
location was brilliant, hotel was very accommdating, it let us check in early and on leaving they allowed us to store our luggage. also lots of resturants located near it, and plus city sightseeing tour bus pulls up outside hotel. walls are a little thin, can hear other guest use bathroom facilities.. can be alittle annoying late at nite, otherwise fine hotel for price
We liked the art work in the room and the TV prompter for information The staff was really rude when we were checking out. There was a problem with an overcharged credit card and they made it to seem like it was our fault and took forever to fix it. Also the location was close to a bad neighborhood and it was really far from the city center
My room was spacious and they offer a good buffet breakfast with a wide range of choices. The free wi-fi in all rooms also came in handy. The hotel is close to the metro and bus- and tram stops. They are currently undergoing a big revamp and as such parts of the hotel are under construction. I experienced a bit of construction noise, but there were no problems regarding dust etc.
Friendly staff, nice room Extremely slow wireless, odd selection of TV channels
I liked the fact that the rooms are of good size, as well as the cleaness of the hotel in general I found few employees quite rude. There is one called MC that is very rude. I also didn't like the fact we didn't have water in the room fridge and we need to ask for water downstairs in the reception.
The rooms are spectacular for a 3 stars hotel and the staff is very kind and helpful.
Great breakfast simple fresh room decor Hotel will not loan adapter most basic thing in most hotel bug charged almost 10€ for one. Stayed with other hotels in area none does this
excellent reception at the front desk from the arrival until departure
The room is big for the price we paid. The bar downstairs was nice and the bartenders were friendly and even made us specialty drinks that weren't on the menu We got to the room late in the evening, the receptionist gave us our room key. When we got to our room, our key didn't work. This happens sometimes so we weren't too upset. I came back downstairs and told another guy at the desk that we had just arrived and that our key didn't work. He fixed it and apologized, we headed to our room. When we opened the door, a woman shot up out of bed and asked "who's there". I felt terrible. Tried to apologize quickly as I spun out the door. I went back down to the desk and the people working had figured out what happened because the lady I walked in on called the front before we got down. They gave a voucher for 1 free glass of wine or beer and gave us the new key and apologized once more. When I turned to walk away, I realized that the same room that we just interrupted that woman in was still written on the key holder card. I turned and told him "this the same room we just came from". He said "oh, oh, I'm sorry." And gave me the right number. But he almost sent us back to the wrong room a third time. All kinds of other things went wrong while we were there. Loud construction RIGHT outside our window at 6am every morning. We were told we would get a five dollar voucher for the bar for every morning we didn't get our room cleaned and we never got it. 4 days in a row, we didn't want our room cleaned. We didn't care about the voucher, but when we went to the desk to ask for an extra bottle of water for our room (which comes with a free bottle of still water and sparkling every morning if you get it cleaned) the desk attendant said we couldn't have free water if our room hadn't been serviced. But when I mentioned that we never received our vouchers, there was some reason we couldn't get that either. I was so frustrated from no sleep from the construction and all the other issues (many of them too small of importance but also too many to list) that I stopped listening to their reasoning. I had decided that I'll never stay at this hotel again. Which is unfortunate because I had stayed there one night last time I was in Belgium. I didn't have much interaction with the staff as it was another late night. I just needed a bed for the evening. My only complaint was the location was kind of inconvenient but after this experience, i realized the problems are far worse than the location
The staff were very friendly and helpful. You were able to choose your room based on the decoration. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet. Also, the hotel is very close to a tram station and about a ten minute walk to the train station. My room was very clean and seemed new. Also, why go for a hotel breakfast when you can buy a delicious waffle in the Grote Markt? The deadbolt on the back of our door wasn't working properly, but the room still locked.
Near Metro Station, Big clean rooms Arrangement of the breckfast room, to many different places
The room was very spacious and the hotel is bright, modern, and clean. Good price but mainly made up of business travelers (we were on our honeymoon). Didn't try the restaurant/bar (Smoods) on the first floor because the priced seemed absurdly high. Would be great for a longer term business stay because of the separate desk area in the room. Not much negative to say. The location is a bit of a hike from the tourist hotspots like the Grand Place. It's close to the Botanique metro station which was convenient but it would have been nicer to have a quicker walk to the city center instead. If you do walk to the city center from the hotel, make sure to walk through the gardens and then down Rue Neuve - it's much nicer than walking between all of the business buildings.
Very modern, well designed hotel. Helpful staff. Nice size, comfortable room. Our room weren't cleaned properly on our arrival, the trash was still there and there were strings of hair in the bath tub.
The free wifi internet access is a boon. It works well and is easy to use. The hotel switched off it's heating rather early in the season and I could not use the heating part of my room's temperature control. I was uncomfortably cold and had to ask for a heater to be provided.
The freebies that were given(this works products) and the breakfast buffet The bar was closed on saturday, only one chocolate on the pillow
comfort and cleanliness
Excellent location, just in front of City2 mall and near Gare du Nord.
The hotel room was well equiped, very spacious with walk in shower and a bath! The staff friendly and their was a nice ambience to the hotel. Located across from one of the main shopping malls a plus. The prices for the room mini bar were exspensive. If the hotel were to price this as value for money they would find they would get used much more by patrons.
Luxureous hotel, in room massage on request (E70/hr), fitness centre, good bar (free newspapers incl Dutch), great location on inner ring next to City2 shopping mall and beginning of shopping street Nieuwstraat, public parking & metrostation next door, 500m from Gare du Nord. Breakfast is expensive (E25 p.p.) and is automatically added to the bill, you have to ask to take it off (if you didn't have it).
Very clean and quiet. Good exercise room I used on 3 occassions. Based on my experience at other hotels in Brussels, i.e Sheraton, the breakfast was OK but nothing special. For example, no staff to prepare a freshly cooked omlet such as at the Sheraton and the Marriott.
the room comfort and view. no
I liked the art nouveau design , the location and the discount price. The airconditioning system did not worked properly or at all.
Location. Cold room and noice from the street.
It is a clean hotel, close to North Station and to the main shopping area. Room was big and comfortable. The strong sweet perfume in the corridors.
No day-use tariff. No WiFi in the rooms. Problematic access in the lobby (encryption enabled).
it was clean and comfortable
For a business hotel note to have wifi access in their rooms is a negative
friendly staff, very comfortable bed i was missing the kettle in the room
new, clean, quiet rooms; option to have NO breakfast price ("congress price")
Comfortable room with extensive minibar and Nespresso. Breakfast buffet was modest and service (in particular to get a cup of coffee) was slow.
The Progress Hotel is well located to Gare du Nord, Metro and shopping. It's quiet, and ideal for short work stays.
Location of hotel, staff and value
The room was comfortable and had all required facilities. The bed was very comfortable. I liked the facility to play MP3 player through the radio (except it didn`t work in my case!)
A small room in the business section of town. I would stay at the Hilton on Avenue Louise as I have in the past..would not retunr
internet access in the room
Location was convenient for traveling around Air conditioning was temperamental and with the window open the traffic was noisy. Extremely expensive breakfast meant that we ate at Cafés.
As I only stayed for one night checking in at around 21hrs and checking out the next day at around 09.00 in the morning, I cannot say much, except that the breakfast was super, though rather on the high side as regards to price! One small thing - the shower did not have any small shelf where to put the shampoo, soap etc, whilst taking the shower. This proved to be rather inconvenient!
Location and gymn facilities. Staff trying to overcome the personal complains about the lack of quality of this room. As member of the Hilton Honours I was hosted on a floor for general guests.
nothing except location room, breakfast
very professional staff
Its location Room size
The price was acceptable, but the hotel is currently under renovation, so it was a bit confusing to find it if you're new to Brussels. For a short business stay, it was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast is a bit overpriced for what is offered, and the rooms could use some attention to repairs. In my room, the two bedside wall lamps were both beginning to come away from the wall, which seems a bit dangerous.
Free Internet access (WiFi) worked fine. Traffic noise made it difficult to rest. Price, 140 EUR a night was much too expensive.
Location Grey like Brussels. Hotel has no charm.
Breakfast was bad - very few things at the table
Breakfast until 10 am. The showercabin hasn't been realy clean.
Good localisation, a few minutes from train station and metro. Noise from the street, spoiled furniture in the rooms - but still ok
The way the hotel staff dealt with all our questions and requests was impressive. The heating system
Comfy bed. Friendly night staffer. Mini candies at desk. Poor parking situation. Maintenance issue with water leak into lower floor unit, inconvenient disruption to morning, no apparent cause tor issue. Delaying one hour more and we would have vacated room. Lack of disabled accessibility makes it challenging. No air conditioning, loud street noise, poor lighting.
The rooms were nice and clean and the breakfast buffet was good. The service was extremely poor. I am a college student and stayed at the hotel with some friends. We were not particularly loud or disrespectful, but the front desk was very rude to us. At one point, the receptionist accused my friend of something and told her he would no longer even speak to her. If you are looking for a quality service hotel, I do not recommend this place.
Clean rooms, near to the metro, the neighbourhood is not good. breakfast is cold only no hot item., prices of room were three times during the conference period.
The breakfast provided was great and the staff very approachable
Good location, close to the center, about 10 minutes walk to Cathedral. Clean rooms with excellent Internet. Very-very good breakfast. Nice interior. Safebox in the room was broken and it was unable to change room. But the polite guy form reception offered the coffee in order to apologize for this.
The staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the location was central with easy access to the city centre There was a lack of internet access facilities (only one computer for the whole hotel with a European style keyboard (difficult to use for people used to a qwerty style keyboard). WiFi access was intermittent. Bar facilities at night were limited. Breakfast supplies (almost) ran out before 10 am one morning.
It was a little loud in the room as the street in front is busy, besides of that very good
Nice comfortable stay with little fuss and a nice breakfast included in the price. Clean, tidy and the staff were very efficient. I should have mentioned it at the time but my room bathroom shower did not have a shower curtain or anywhere to hang the shower head so I had to hold it myself and the floor got very wet. otherwise it was a big bathroom and was spotless.
Staff very friendly and professional. Room is very clean and it is a very safe hotel to stay in.
Ideal situation in middle of dourdan
For such a fairly large hotel which is close to a major traffic junction and railway it was surprisingly quiet. Although somewhat worn, it still had the looks of (former) grandeur. Excellent location, few minutes walk to Gare Nord, very convenient if you come from the airport, few steps from metro, very close to one of Brussels main shopping areas, and of course Grand Place, cafes, restaurants, etc. It could use some refurbishment, although personally I rather like "old and used" things, not some sort of sterile stuff.
The welcoming was very good. The staff very kind. Quiet and easy for access to downtown A bit dark, especially the entrance hall.
Internet is available only in the lobby, a huge hall, which is poorly illuminated and too noisy due to a constantly banging heavy door and the remote opening buzzer. It won't take much effort or cost to rectify this major irritation. Also, providing wireless internet signal inside rooms will be very useful.
The breakfast, the position and the overall aspect and atmosphere of the room The non smoking room smelled very bad, like a smoking one. The bathroom needed serious refurbishing. The WiFi was available only in the hall and only luckly since I was in the very first floor the WiFi was available even in the room.
Very nice staff, nice and cosy hotel, good breakfast and this time I have got the best room ever in this hotel so I enjoyed this stay even more (in this room in the bathroom was only one tap and not two - one for hot and one for cold water - like I experienced before)
Breakfest room, free internet acess in the loby bathroom,
Breakfast was very Good.
The hotel is confortable and the rooms are good enough for the price. I didn't try the bar or the restaurant because the prices were high! The staff (not everyone but the only recepcionist we saw during our stay) was rude, we wait a least for a Good Night/Good Morning when we say this and he was never able to answer to this simple greeting. Rude and unpolite, looking like he was doing a favour to the guests. It's close to the subway but it's a 10 min walking and, at night, the neighbourhood is not the best!
Close to the city and the underground. Nice environment. No.
The Staff Small rooms
Very big and nice room, comfy bed, very clean, great shower Ok location- metro to old town or train
Proximity to the Botanical Gardens (in daylight -- the area changes dramatically once light fades). Not your fault, but all other hotels were booked and this hotel was lousy for doing business in the EU institutions area. It is hardly a safe area at night either since it is in the red light district.
Location of the hotel is very nice and convenient. It is so close to Nord Station and Rogier metro station.Hotel is very clean.Breakfast is not so large but enough. Thanks for all good services and smiling face staff.
Breakfast Room was a bit noisy due to it being near the lift.
Verry nice and clean room, nice staff, close to centre of the city and to the metro. There was no minibar in my room.
Convenience to rail station Price of breakfast was extremely high
The staff is truly multilingual and the hotel is close to the train station North, which is convenient for the airport (and for prostitutes, if that is your thing) The hotel is in a red-light district, you get charged for every single thing (such as getting reasonable tv channels, internet, breakfast). Uncomfortable beds. Would definitely not stay here again.
The room, breakfast That there was no bread (salted) at 8 o'clock in th emorning and no fruit.
It was nice and helpful to have free breakfast and free wifi access in my room. The heater was not working some nights.
The person at the reception was very welcoming, the room was spacious, free wi-fi is available in all rooms with decent speed, Breakfast not one of the best but for one night stay it should do. Not exactly in the centre (but is few mins walk from a metro station)
All the areas of the hotel were very clean and staff really helpful. City center and the EU Institutions are easy accessible even by walking (I needed 30 minutes to the EU Commission).Room was pleasant and warm.If traveling again to Brussels I will look for a free room in this hotel.
Reasonable price, clean efficient, 10 minutes walk to sncb Noord. Room very cramped. Would have liked an electrical power socket at the desk. Noise from the bar tended to travel upstairs to my room.
Nice and clean WiFi can only be located at reception and in hotel's first building. My room was in second, so I had to go to reception to use internet.
Helpful and accomodating staff. Free Wi-Fi for guests. N/A
In general it was good, but quality is lower than similar 4 stars hotels.
Location - right next to Gare du Nord and near Place Rogier
Well-working heating system I was placed in the room in the cellar - ok for 1 night but with a clumsy-designed bathroom and almost no light from outside, and with street noise if one opens the windows...
We were wery happy about welcoming staff, our room was really comfortable, it was perfect for our family. And breakfast was delicious and cheap.
The location of the hotel was good for me, in spite that the streets do not look safe at that part of Brussels. But this is Brussels, the same feeling everywhere. Very expensive WiFi! There is no elevator, very narrow stairs. You will have problems if you have big bags!
Personell was very friendly. Room was clean, had enough facilities, nothing overdone. Shower hook was broken, so I needed to hand shower.
The quiet room the buffet breakfast No
The location of the Albergo is convenient because it is near the north station and the Rogier plats. I often hear the noise of something vibrating.
The Staff, Location , very near to the north station and metro Station, rooms are clean good value for your money The corridors are a bit small
The good bed, tranquility at the back of the hotel, friendliness of the hosts not particularly, it is noticable however, that some improvements / repairs should be made regarding furniture in the bathroom
The economy room was decent value for money. It's a basement room with a good shower. I didn't see the better rooms. The continental breakfast was well worth the 5 euro and came with the best cup of coffee I had all week. The hotel is a short walk from the Gare Nord. I would stay here again.
Room was clean, located fairly well no sink in bathroom or room had to use shower to wash hands, access to kitchen was locked up like everything else, the B&B seemed like a halfway house and didnt feel particularly secure while there
The hotel staff
nice staff, good location
Leaving!! Decor , no en-suite, bare electrical cables, no tea/coffee making facilities, noise, wobbly furniture
Good location. Placed on 6th floor where wifi extremely poor, no lifts, had to carry luggage to top floor, reception staff utterly clueless when asked about anything and sets a very bad first impression. Bathroom not so great after 6 people had been through it.
room and bathroom were newly refurbished/back yard
They were helpful and friendly. The hotel was convenient to get around Brussels, and it was in a safe location. We took our kids and the room was spacious. There was no air conditioning and no breeze. It was quite hot. We did try opening the window, but then you have to contend with the city noise.
nothing the hotel was closed when arrived, lots of problems gaining access, unhelpful staff
the service and the room, and the bathroom is clean. there is also a fridge in the room.
The bathroom had a very good shower. Also the location of the hotel is very good, with supermarkt around and the metro station too. The bedroom had a strange smell of "vinager", but it was clean.
The hotel is central and well located. The staff are efficient and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Other hotels in the same area offer the same or better accomodation for less money. Private bathroom had bath, shower but no curtain. For the sake of a few Euros they could have put in a curtain and rail and I could have showered much easier.
Location No shampoo
The location is very central and we could see most of the city by walk The room given to us was too small to qualify as a double room and the bed in my opinion was also not big enough to be called a double bed. i had definitely expected a bigger room
The bed was good.
Staff was friendly.
Excellent location near Metro and restaurants Lack of kettle and supply of coffee, tea, milk sugar and sweeteners
Proximity to meeting venue. It was not clean, there was a bad smell in the room generally, particularly in the bathroom, lack of towels, no tea/coffee facilities, no shaver facility, occupants noisy throughout the night, very high traffic noise.
close to centrum first floor is noisy
The price, the breakfast and the localization The elevator wasn't so nice!
The breakfast - it was really good!! That the shower had only cold water and it wasn't very clean - also was two floors above us.
Careful decoration and nice ambiance. Very kind and friendly.
Our stay at this hotel was very pleasant, it felt much more like home than a hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is small, situated in a centre of Brussels but in a quiet residential area. Less than 5 min walk from metro and public transport offering a 10 min journey to main tourist attractions, making it ideal for both: City Break-leisure or for business accomodation.
Quiet area, nice building and very friendly staff. Also, the douche with the radio inside was quite funny
The landlady, the location in the down-to-earth Madou district of Brussels, the breakfast room and lounge The ad-hoc nature of the room, the lack of proper curtains, the fact that the TV was not repaired despite promises, the fact that there was no shampoo or toilet seat cover and no rugs on the floor. It was a strange room with a glass wall. It was good value considered that it was the famous Seafood Fair when it is impossible to find any decent accommodation in Brussels, but I personally would not chose it at any other time. Also, you have to pay for the whole stay in cash in advance which is a bit difficult if your accommodation cost will only be reimbursed later.
