The building was a comercial building refurbished. The rooms are very small.Dont have privte parking. The access to the hotel is very difficult by car.Dont have a parking in front of the reception to leave the luggages.
Rooms were smallish but immaculate and the trains were not intrusive for us., and the views good -- we could see the Bay! Location excellent for shopping, rugby at the Millenium Stadium and cultural events at the Millenium Hall and loads of cafes and restaurants within easy walk. Breakfast buffet good value and several Hen parties didnt cause any problems /noise. A great weekend, and Wales won!!!!
Friendly and helpful staff
Excellent check in allowed us to have linked for the family. Good breakfast but a bit pricey for a familyAcces Finding the hotel entrance by car is rather complicated
Excellent location, excellent service, excellent hotel
Helpful and pleasant staff, good parking facilities, great outdoor area for al fresco dining and a Pims or three! No mini bar - and the mini bar/fridge was actually switched off so we couldn't even chill what room service provided.
very friendly and help full staff, great location will stay there again.
Location, cleanliness and very helpful staff. None.
Staff, ambience, quality and value. Ideally located for city-centre attractions Didn't find any, except a room-mate who snored heavily!
some confsion ober resevation as booked via booking.com, but staff were pleasant, confident and very efficient went out for breakfast as £15 seemed expensive.
Well appointed room with all of the amenities we needed. None noted.
prompt polite service, nicely decorated room Lights in the bar were too low and made you want to sleep!
Great staff, location and the room has everything we wanted. Good leisure facilities. Had a lovely evening drink on the decking area in the sun. Drinks in the bar were very expensive but to be expected from a hotel. We didn't have breakfast included but crossed the road and had a great breakfast at Bills.
the location, the breakfast and the chap showing guests in for breakfast I didn't like the room it was very dark with the smallest window I have ever seen (which wouldn't open) also didnt like how long it took for reception to deal with a problem that we had with our bathroom after 1/2 an hr of waiting I had to go down to reception myself
Air conditioning vent (ceiling) was leaking water on to the floor. This was a highly dangerous situation. A slipon this could have proved very serious. It did mean having to turn it off and open the windows, which of course led to a great deal of noise from outside.
Good friendly service
Nice to pampered and having a short break Going home
Very average hotel and certainly not value for money Located bewtween two busy pubs, no cooked breakfast served after 09.30hrs, rooms small
The location was perfect, in the heart of the city, easy access to all places of interest, and only a few minutes walk from the train/bus station.
I liked the room it was comfy although it took a while to work out how to work the heating so woke up very cold the first morning. The heating confused me and I couldn't find instructions
Despite the contemporary design the rooms are very comfortable. I had one of the best nights sleep I've had in a hotel room for a long time, which was a pleasant surprise considering I spend a couple of nights a week in hotels on business. The hotel seems to be in the middle of refurburbishment at the moment (November 2010) so access to the hotel is confusing and doesn't initially inspire confidence in the forthcoming stay.
Nothing Poor customer service overall
The location was ideal. Right in the middle of the city centre Incredibly overinflated prices due to the Wales international. For the size of the rooms they shouldn't be priced over £50
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The location was brilliant as it was only a very short walk from the train station. The room itself was lovely and the breakfast was great value and very nice.
This hotel is bright, clean, ideally located for public transport and every member of staff we had any reason to speak to was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. None
The Welcome from the staff was the best, the rooms are compact but clean and comfortable, check out the cute bathroom pods.. The water from the shower did not drain away till the morning and so you had to step in water if you used the bathroom afterwards
Great location, central train and bus stations at the door, many other sites in close walking distance. Clean, efficient room. Breakfast was delicious and a good value. Perfect for a solo traveler to use as a base to see Cardiff and the surrounding area. Bathroom might not work out as well if the room is being used by more than one person, due to the wet floor post shower.
The hotel was very conveniently situated with all the attractions close at hand.
The location although it was very difficult to find by road. The hotel name was difficult to spot. Excellent breakfast Size of room too small. No draws to put clothes away. Only really enough room for a one night stay. Glass toilet door.
Perfect location for just about everything in Cardiff, brilliant, Bunk beds in room, with tv fixed to wall at end of beds, so person in bottom bunk could not see the tv, poorly thought out placing of the tv.
Modern design, clean room, great central location especially for Railway Station, Stadium and city centre. None, perhaps the price was a little high due to being a busy weekend for sporting events, but would definitely stay here again.
Staff were friendly Computer systems went down on the Friday and because of a water leak all water was turned off so couldn't take a shower.
Friendly helpful staff. Great location for Rugby stadium, castle and the city centre and other tourist points. Comfortable room with a view of the case One lift was out of order which was a bit inconvenient
Central for everything, lovely hotel
Staff were friendly and helpful. The Angel is a great location for visiting Cardiff within walking distance of most things and an inexpensive cab ride from the Bay. The Angel is a happily eccentric building, but becoming a bit shabby at the price. Breakfast was bland in flavour, but efficiently served by friendly waiting staff.
Breakfast being charged at £13.50 a head is an out & out joke, for this reason alone we would never go back, but also to be charged £5 a day car parking as well
We ordered room service, from a choice of 4 main courses we were told 3 were not available, we ordered what was available it was practically inedible and expensive.
The room charge was low so value for money in that respect The room needed to painted and brightened up as did the bathroom. It had the air of being a bit 'tired'
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was perfect for shopping in the city and near bus routes around the city to see the sights. Would definately book again. Parking not bookable and limited but staff made every effort to help. Double glazing in the rooms would cut down traffic noise which is unavoidable in a city location.
The location was superb. Parking onsite at a reasonable cost. Thought that the rooms were a bit dated. The windows were very 'shaky'a and due to the location there was quite a lot of noise at night.
The waiter was extremely helpful, he couldn't do enough for us The prices in the bar and restarant, too over priced
Central location Air con unit stuated right outside bedroom window to therefore very noisy during the night--also wedding function taking place so was loud music till 1-00am on the sat/sun.
It was central and close to all the places we wanted to visit and was easily found from the motorway. No biscuits on the tea and coffee tray.
The breakfast was very good and the staff extremely friendly.
The Location, only a minute away from the city centre & right by the Castle & Bute Park. Also every easy to get to.
The only thing I liked about the hotel was the locataion The fact that we were woken on Sunday morning by workers erecting scaffolding on the outside of the hotel. The noise from the bar next door to the hotel, even though we were on the second floor we could still here it at midnight.
Staff was very friendly helpful Located at the back of the Hotel was the football stadium which was quite noisey in the early morning.
Location was perfect as we were going to the Milenium Stadium. Easy to find and ideal having parking on site. Close to all the shops and Castle.
city centre location easy to find
The front desk staff was responsive. The location of the hotel is a plus. The flush wasn't working properly; one has to flush 2-3 times before it worked. There was music from bar downstairs, which I could hear till ~12:00. This affected my sleep on the first night. To be fair, I'dn't complained to staff about these two, but I think, they couldn't have done much about the music-from-the-bar-part. Otherwise, the room was quiet, cosy, and comfortable, although small (have stayed in Cardiff at other hotel with bigger rooms for less price). The per night room price was expensive (but could have been because of the Rugby game on Saturday), that's why poor value for money.
I like the service, breakfast, free drink (as priority club member), promotions spilled out rather than hidden, fleibility to cancel and rebook my room with pleasure (It was a big problem for Novotail London by Accor group & they charged me 130 pounds for nothing) These people are good and I will go again. They gave us the park view (Best view). Small room (hotel was fully booked so no chance to upgrade) The bed was just enough for one person as booked. I don't mind small rooms when service level and respect are high.
Location was good and the price wasn't too high. Very damp and musty. The whole room abd the bed smelled like mould. Cleanliness was a problem. The shower was upstairs so far from the room. The breakfast was expensive and not worth the money. The staff were not very helpful. The room had a door to outside that was left open by the cleaning staff while we were out for the day. Very unimpressed.
The staff made you feel welcome, breakfast was very good due to selection, speedy service and unlimited food. the hotel overall was like a bad fawlty towers. Decor, everything was shabby and outdated, has great potential as the buidling has got character, the location is brilliant. suprised that the rooms had brand new flat screen TVs and wifi installed. due to the staff being exceptionally warm and informative far outweighed everything else.
This is a good hotel the location is good and the music is great. WiFi is free and excellent. Everything works and is as expected. Nice people too. The decor could do with a big refresh.
Good staff Rooms a little tatty Stairs
Very good staff all round Beds in rooms
Location brilliant!! They would only let me book for a 2 night stay as the rugby was on but I only wanted 1 night so it worked out really expensive for a less then adequate stay
Friendly courteous staff The bed was very cramped and uncomfortable.the room was only big enough for a single
friendliness of staff and the breakfast the decor
Warm and welcoming staff, very helpful, decor of hotel and room worn, but clean. Good breakfast.
The location. Uncomfortable beds; lots of stairs but all good exercise.
I liked the convenience of the hostel, and the room was spacious, light and well designed.
Great staff, friendly and young environment, great location just in front of the Millenium stadium, clean room. An excellent pub on the ground floor. Free access to internet via three shared laptops. ----
Location, cleanliness, friendly staff Disappointing choice of evening meal - small portions and no desserts available.
nice atmosphere, tv in the room really helped stairs and rooms were a bit bare
The staff was mazing and made a really big difference in my stay!!! None, everything was fantastic!!!
New facilities, really good price for such accommodation offer. The facilities even better than a budget hotel. Staff are pretty nice. High security system which made me feel safe in stay. Continential breakfast included and also provide free internet service in reception area. Loads of travel information in the common room and kitchen. However, it definitely need to be improve for your fire alarm system and the professionalism of the cleaner! Because when I was stayed there, I was having an accident because of these two issues and caused me fall slipped on 4-step on the stairs and my lower back still very hurt and need to do further medical treatment. And it's totally ruin out my holidays in Cardiff. 1. How come a fault fire alarm could be as long as 10 minutes? 2. Why there was no caution sign for slippery floor after the cleaner swipe the floor? Or why not dry up afterward?? I really hope the hostel would improve those two issues!
Very neat and clean, good staff No coffee facilities, no soap in bathroom
Staff were polite, courteous, and helpful. The general laid back layout was quite attractive. My "twin" room had a total of five beds, but no cupboard or wardrobe space whatsoever. No toiletries. Breakfast was awful - stale coffee, cereals and parties were all that was on offer.
Staff very friendly and helpful.Close to city centre and Millenium Centre and very good value for money. Not enough channels on TV-had a double room and felt for the price could have been more channels on tv.
The reviews on Trip Advisor are hilarious! The location is great, and I can imagine it'a good value for money most of the time but because everything was so full up the weekend we stayed we paid quite a lot of money for the experience. It's terrible: falling apart, pretty dirty and needs a lot of work done to it.
