Cons: They didn't answer our call for pickup! We never got the car! When we called that night-after paying $150 more for taxis, they apologized and said--CRUISE SHIPS NEVER ARRIVE ON THAT DAY (even though we'd reserved a car and told them we were coming on the ship).

Pros: The car was acceptably clean, it ran well and I didn't have any problems during the rental.
Cons: The young woman that handled the rental details and contract was very abrupt, didn't speak clear English (heavy accent) and spoke very fast, glossing over the rental terms and conditions. She acted like I was bothering her when I asked questions or didn't understand something. The experience left me frustrated and wishing I had gone somewhere else.

Terrible customer service
Cons: Had mechanical issues beyond my control and was told it would cost me $50 to have someone assist us. We were stranded in the hotel and had to make other accommodations to make our reservation on our last night in Maui. Car proceeded to act up and not want to start, ended up limpinge car in and when dropped it off the car didn't start for the attendant. Told him the story and needless to say I'm finished with alamo car rental services.

Nissan Versa Thanksgiving day
Pros: 5 mins with the man behind the desk and 1 minute in the parking lot and we were out of Alamo. The fastest, easiest process and on a holiday. 4 days for under $100. Need to download an app to connect your phone to the car which was very faulty but that was all Nissan. Alamo was great.

Pros: It was one of the less expensive options available.
Cons: Despite having a reservation, we still had to wait over 30 minutes for the minivan to be ready- with 3 kids (12, 2, and 3mos) who had all been travelling all day. The facility is small and not nice so we opted to wait outside in the wind. The minivan itself was awful, obviously the base model and very worn. We also rented a car seat that was old, coming apart and basically just a plastic chair. All in all, an absolutely horrible experience.

Vehicle that doesn't work
Pros: Got a Jeep Wrangler for which the all wheel drive dos not work and had steering control issues. It wasn't less expensive either.

Terrible pick up system and dirty car.
Pros: We arrived at the rental office and it was just 3 groups. But all 3 parties ended up waiting more than 40 minutes. We all recieved our cars washed but it was still very dirty, outside and inside.
Cons: i dont know how , but i paid 65$ a day when your ad says that i need to pay 25$ a day

Better than I expected
Pros: Incredibly low rate and reasonable fees if you have your own insurance. The employees were incredibly helpful. We got a Chevy sonic which was perfect for 2 people with 2 suitcases. Also a great compact car for the Road to Hana
Cons: Only downfall was it seemed like no one at OGG knew about Payless or that it was at the Budget office. That might be something to add into the reservation email.

Payless but not painless
Pros: Nothing to commend Payless.
Cons: First, Payless was very hard to find, turns out it was inside the Budget Care rental place. I feel somewhat cheated. Car was reserved for a total of $168, but charge at counter came to $200. I did not select any extra options. Also the compact was supposed to be a Nissan Versa Sedan or equal, but was the smaller Nissan Versa Note model, with no trunk, which is not equal but lesser. The agent handling the customer next to me was really giving the couple a very high pressure (uncomfortable to say the least) sales pitch to buy the upgrade and buy the extra insurance...he was quite intimidating..HATE these low-cost rental car companies.. Also my car had a tire that went needed an air fill. Will NOT rent from Payless again.

First time using Payless
Pros: The only thing I could think of saying that was a positive was that Payless was inside the airport property.
Cons: First off I didn't like being pressured to upgrade my vehicle. I wanted what I ordered and in the end I didn't upgrade but didn't receive what I rented. I also didn't appreciate how horrible of shape the rental car I got was in. When I ordered online for my two day stay it was $96, but after everything was said and done it came to over $250. I received a notification that our flight was delayed and was tiring to contact the Payless office where I rented the car from to see if I could delay my drop off. After trying to call for over an hour I gave up because no one picked up the phone and it was during regular business hours. I called a 1800 number I found online and they couldn't give me a straight answer or do anything for me because they couldn't find my rental in their computer. This was an extremely frustrating process that really shouldn't have been especially at the end of my vacation this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. I will never again rent a car from Payless or Budget.

Pros: At time of booking, Payless was the least expensive. Drop off was quick and efficient. Several shuttles taking you to and from rental facility so you didn't have to wait very long.
Cons: Upon arriving at the rental facility we waited an hour an a half to rent the car. They manage both Budget and Payless customers and the line was long. People were getting agitated waiting so long to get the car. Once we got the rental contract, we still waited another hour to get our car. We had planned to go to an attraction that closed at 2 pm, but the two and a half hours spent on renting a car eliminated that. Then we tried calling them for two days using the phone number on the envelope, calling corporate office, and a number listed on their website. We were never able to speak to someone. We want to extend our rental. Also tried contacting them via email and no luck. I can only wonder what a customer in an emergency can hope to get.

MUST TAKE A SHUTTLE, NOT PICKUP AT TERMINAL AS FAL
Cons: When I booked the rental it clearly said I could get the car at the terminal and NOT HAVE TO RIDE THE SHUTTLE BUS. When I got there I was taken by shuttle bus, then waited a long time. This is false advertisement by Kayak.
Also, I was not able to drive to all the places I had planned because the Ford I was given had a bad tyransmission. When I returned the car I was told that all of that Ford model had a bad transmission, yet they offered no refund and got it ready for the next victim.

nothing out of the ordinary
Pros: We got a reliable car at a decent price without too much waiting. We weren't pushed to get insurance etc.
Cons: There is an upfront assumption that you will buy their gas, but if you fill up yourself the charge is removed.
There are a lot of added fees, some voted by the local municipality. It would be nice if they just told that to us up front as well.
Cons: waited about 30 minuts for the bus at airport with quite a few other people, then as we got to the rental car place, it was extremely disorganized. They didn't have cars available, putting people in any car they could find, not what any of us had asked for. mine was an upgrade so that was okay, but the pick up process took about 90 minutes! not good!!

Overall it was a good rental for what we paid.
Pros: Very nice van. Clean, modern, ran good for the most part. Pick up, drop off, & shuttle was fairly easy & quick. One of the best priced car rentals on Maui.
Cons: The van started to overheat & the A/C stopped working. We had to add water to the radiator. After adding water it didn't overheat anymore and the A/C worked again. However, fluids should have been checked & topped off before we took possession.

Cons: Got to the Kahului airport and could not find the car rental counter. Called the toll free number, lots if options, tried multiple but noone to talk to - only recorded messages. Had to taje a $80 cab to the hotel and have the hotel call next day to get my car.
Awful experience. Will never rent with this company.

Fox is new on Maui.
Pros: Great people, friendly service.
Cons: I was not told in advance after booking where the shuttle pick-up would be or what the local number was. The 800# did not allow me to reach the local shop on Maui. Fortunately, the airport personal directed me to the island out front and to just wait for the driver to come around again. Once picked up, it was all easy. Car was older, clean, functional but muffler noisy.

Pros: The price was competitive
Staff was mostly friendly
Cons: First car we received had low tire pressure and was in need of its maintenance (warning light on dash).
No counter at the airport meant a call to the Fox office to find out where they're located and where to get the shuttle.

NEVER RENT WITH FOX RENTAL CAR AKA ALLSAVE CAR REN
Cons: EVERYTHING!. First of all they are not called Fox car rental probably because they are trying to trick, fool and hide from the real company they are. They are now called Allsave car rental. They must have changed the name because of all the bad reviews. I reserved a van because I was with my kids and another family. I arrive in maui in scorching hot weather and their pick up location has no shade and we are told the van comes every 15 minutes. 25 minutes later and almost in heat stroke I called 3 phone numbers to finally get someone on the other end with attitude saying they were busy taking other customers back to the rental office. (They only have 1 shuttle so dont expect anything to happen fast). I am traveling alone with 2 children and all our luggage and car seat. Before I left airport I called to confirm my reservation for a van and I was confirmed that I had a minivan with 7 seats.
I finally arrive at the office with all my luggage and my 2 kids (4 and 7yrs old) only to be told that they did not have a van and that they could give me a Toyota instead for a cheaper price. WTF. I could have rented a toyota from anywhere else for even cheaper then they were offering . Then they compromised to give me a 7 seater (which was my critical need) SUV. I said fine. Oh but wait 60 second later they said " Oh sorry that gentleman across the office got the last SUV".
Then they told me " we can take you back to the airport or any other car rental place you would like". Seriously?? I have 2 young kids who are hot, hungry and whining and a lot of luggages. You want to schlep us back to the airport to start all over???
Next offer was to give me a 15 passeger van - like I was a bus driver???
Then the compromise was to give me a Toyota car for the cost of the Toyota car ( no discount) and I can drive back to the rental car 45-60 minutes each way the next day when I was on my only vacation this year to pick up the minivan if I wanted.
Then when I returned the car , all their phones and internet was down and i had to write down my email address for them to send me the receipt. I am still waiting for my receipt.
I wanted to shoot myself. Needless to say I will post on all social media never to rent from Allsave or Fox or whatever they want to call themselves or use Kayak to rent a car. Safest is to rent from the actual company even if it is $10-15 more.

Saved a little, but never again
Cons: Flight arrived in evening however they close in the afternoon every day. Had to get another car until the following day when they reopened. Waited for at least an hour while they brought a car from their remote lot to the shopping center where they are located.
Car batter died 3 days into the trip. Had AAA come to jumpstart and diagnose. He said battery wasn't properly charged and that Fox or Allsave doesn't properly maintain their fleet. He said that he has to service their cars at least 2 times a week.
When I returned the car to swap after the battery, they still insisted that I top off the gas tank and said that if it died at the gas station, they would come and jump it. How considerate...
Pros: Reasonable price, clean, nice car. The check in process was fast with the automation/video phone check in.
Cons: Waiting in line in the check in counter before deciding to go with the video phone check in.

Pros: It took an hour to get to the Hertz place on a shuttle, which as it turns out is right next to the airport...would've been faster to walk. We got in on a Friday, so I think there was a rush (huge line). My sister rented from the same place the day before and there was no line.
Despite that little hiccup, they were very friendly and helpful and didn't try to hustle me too much about addons.
Once I got my contract we had to wait another half hour for the car.
When I brought it back on my return, they were very helpful! I had prepaid for a full tank of gas, but had filled it the day before (doh!), but I asked the agent to remove the fee, and she did with a warning and a wink.
The car worked great, and the price was unbeatable for a minivan for 8 days...$345!!
Cons: Waiting for the shuttle and then the car itself....took awhile for it to be cleaned from the previous renter. But it was a busy time for them, so this wasn't really a service issue in my opinion. The price was way worth the inconveniences.

Pros: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Cons: We arrived at the Hertz airport office only for them to tell us that this was an off-airport location. They also said that we were the 6th that day with the same type of reservation. NOT ONLY that, but the off airport location closes at 2:00 and we didn't get to the Hertz location until 2:30! So, even if we went off airport we would have been stranded.
YOU NEED TO FIX YOUR WEBSITE to plainly notify that this is an off airport location.

Not what I asked and pay for
Pros: Good has mileage
Cons: They tried so hard to get me to upgrade so I did fir an extra 18.50 per day, then they didn't even have the car after waiting for 1 1/2hrs. They wanted to give me a free upgrade to an suv. I didn't want that, just give me what I paid for. Then the lady says they have an economy car (the original car I reserved before I paid for the upgrade) I could take. NOW why would you talk me into an upgrade on a car you dint have and then offer me the exact car I originally paid for at an upgraded price? I was so frustrated after the long wait that I just took the economy car and left. NEVER pay for an upgrade. If they don't have what you reserved then they should upgrade you for free.....period. NEVER going with dollar again.
Pros: I made a mistakes with my rental. I thought I was renting from the airport but it was the one in town that I made the reservation. They let me know the issue and then gave me a free shuttle to their other location. The staff was great and I have no complaints! Thank you Enterprise!

Pros: I liked the friendly service and clean vehicle. Also the reassurance you seem to receive from them.
Cons: The wait. I waited in the heat for over 20 minutes AFTER being told to wait outside for an escort to take me to my vehicle. It was ridiculous. On top of that, I had to pay more than I reserved since this was at the airport and I wasn't informed prior to that it was another location down the street (less than half a mile away).

Great car, fast service
Pros: The service was quick. They had a shuttle ready at the airport and the check in to get our car was quick and the staff were so kind. The car was clean. Most areas we went to needed compact parking so it was nice to have a car that worked for that. The return process was also very simple and I felt the price was reasonable with no hidden charges.
