decent room power outlet in bedside light (super!) Nice cleaning staff Easy access to downtown Super expensive internet Room is sort of depressing in design, decor. Somewhere someone would meet a dark fate in a Twilight zone episode.
Location, Location Location and the price was better then other hotels in the area. Room was outdated, bathroom was smaller than an airplane restroom.
Location The hallways had hole in walls, tears and tons of stains in carpeting. Needs major upkeep. Only thing good is the location. Paid 15$ for fasted speed internet which was supposed to be 8mbps it closed in less Then 3mbps
The location is perfect. Near all the tourist attractions. It doesn't have breakfast.
Pleasant staff. Great location. Stained and fraying carpet in hallways. Tiny bathrooms. No amenities such as in room fridge or continental breakfast. Loud air conditioner unit.
The location was great, comfortable. Not a lot of facilities but in city and I didn't need them. Great value. Comfortable bed. Carpet completely worn in hallway. Paint peeling in bathroom. Bath floor a little sticky.
hotel should provide breakfast.
The location is the one you want. It's close to whatever you wanna visit at Chicago. Staff is really courteous, the room size is OK, the roof terrace is really nice. Again, this is mostly about the location which is the best in town. Nothing I actually disliked, but the hotel is in serious need of money to go through a much needed renovation. Once they do this, the price won't be the same tho.
The bed was very old and not comfortable, not hotel standard my own bed at home much better. The rooms need to be remodeled. Matres
It was a fantastic hotel! While the room wasn't large, it was up to date and clean. Services were fantastic and the staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will absolutely stay here again.
Beds were comfortable Staff prompt and friendly It was dirty---floors dirty, wrappers on the floor, cereal on the floor, carpet torn in areas, pack n play had crusted food on it.
Great location! Lobby looked cute but once you stepped onto the other floors it was below average (dirty carpets, mediocre rooms, small bathrooms). Not what was expected from view on website, lobby, and location.
no frills, very comfortable, very close to train for airport. no dislikes
Very helpful staff, clean rooms, chilled water was a nice touch along with other guest facilities.
Excellent locatiion and service
Nice clean rooms Parking was terrible
Convenient location, good value, well equipped room, excellent service. Nothing
It had a good location in relation to the things we wanted to do.
the location of the hotel and front office help. the poor services in the hotel.
cozy the small bathroom
location was perfect for Art Institute student visit. great location near theatre. room was small but clean and confortable fold out bed was lumpy and uncomfortable.
Free wi fi, the pub beside the hotel, ubication, facilities, free water, lobby View from the window,
Wide variety of food room service was very convenient. nevetheless the hotel own restaurant was also reliable. It would be appreciated to have an iron in the room.
This hotel is very centrally located to many Chicago sites and attractions. A cool building, staff and accommodations are all excellent. I recommend this hotel. We will be back. The age of the building means that while rich in character, the quirks of the room layout and small size could bother some people.
The location, cleanliness, reception service, coffee service, breakfast service, bar service with food, valet service, room service, housekeeping service and reservation service! The room size & configuration, room price did not include internet access and breakfast service! Hence, the value for money was missing in my opinion!
Nothing. Room was really small. Room was run down. Dirty. Overpriced. Staff was not helpful when they gave us the wrong room (one even yelled at us).
Raoul and the other breakfast servers were excellent The carpet in my room1504 seemed old and dirty
The hotel is conveniently located in the city The cost of the room was very high. I was willing to pay the price but, my expectations were set high for such a small non-view room.
Convenient location We were downgraded rooms and charged the same amount.
Bed was comfortable, room was very clean and nicely furnished. Missing some basic things like luggage rack. Hotel lobby desperately needs basic amenities like a chilled water dispenser (coffee is nice but it's hot outside!!!)
Lovely hotel for great price on Michigan Ave. It's close to everything cool in Chicago. Staff was friendly, and was helpful. When I forgot my toothbrush they were able to find one for us. The rooms were clean and well put together.
Location on Michigan Ave is perfect, price is good Really late check in (5pm), slow elevators, noisy hallways, outdated rooms, no free wifi
It was very loud; lots of LED lights that you had to creatively cover; and staff gives conflicting information about the no housekeeping $10 credit.
Location and staff ... Staff was really nice No in room coffee maker, small room, virtually no room to put your bathroom toiletries and just two tiny drawers for clothes. No vending machine anywhere. View of brick wall. A lot to give up for location. Would stay off Mag mile next time. Parking was crazy expensive. For the money we paid I expected more
Nothing except its location 1- Staff aren't friendly. 2- The furniture and the bed sheets are so dirty.
so many fruit flies in the bathroom! the showerhead was so clogged that the shower sprayed over the curtain and all over the bathroom mirror, leaving about 3 streams of lightly pressured water to shower with.
Way past it's prime...
Great location and rich history - opened up the windows for cool air at night.
All the major sites are walking distance from this hotel. LOCATION Our room smelled like cigarette smoke. It was so bad it penetrated our clothes. Also, they had water issues during our stay. There was no water coming out and after they "fixed" the issue there was brown water coming out. The hotel has beautiful designs, but it looks run down. All of their furniture looks beat up. The drapes in our room had holes. The front desk had mediocre service. The bellman were very friendly though. This place has lots of potential because of it's design and location. They just may need new management.
Location was good. Bathroom was not good at all.
The location was perfect The ice machines did not work, went to 11 and 12th floors.... Neither worked. WIFI did not work on the 10th floor the entire stay. In fact it only worked in the lobby for us.
For the condition of the the hotel, was MUCH cleaner than I expected. Staff were also very cordial. All I can say is that this was like the Happiness Hotel of Muppet fame. Not one dime has been spent on any hotel upgrades since 1976. Because of the baroque splendor it once had, this hotel is popular for weddings (maybe guests are blindfolded until they arrive in the ballrooms??) All was shabby, falling apart, and rundown with tons of springbreak-like behaving young adults. Walls paper-thin.
Beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly. Onsite parking is cheaper than others in downtown Chicago. Wifi could be better. The rooms are older in style and decor, but that is to be expected in a 100+ year old hotel.
only suggestion for improvements I would have would be the doors to get into the different wings look like service entrances- out of character with the rest of the décor- could use an upgrade.
Great location and in hotel amenities Luxury hotel once upon a time, but lack of appropriate upkeep drops it down a couple notches. Not a bad hotel, just not luxury anymore.
Margarit at the front desk was phenomenal, and Diaz in security was very helpful.. We came out to catch a couple of Cubs games and sight see. We did not spend much time in our room, which was good because overall comfort was about a 3 out of 10. Old, old old. Reminded me of that 1960's home with the pocket doors, and diamond like door knobs, but has NEVER been updated. A place to lay your head and store your luggage and no more. Although I must admit the pancakes in the rear restaurant from the front desk were GREAT!!!! Cold, I mean COLD water in the bathroom. Peeling wall paper. Hotel really needs to be gutted and updated like yesterday. For $200.00 per night the overall appearance of the hotel was about $40.00 per night. Yes we had a good view of Buckingham Fountain over Michigan Ave. And that is the only thing that gave us some, just some of our money's worth.
While the exterior of The Congress represents the bygone days of a once glorious hotel, the interior is, sadly, the result of age, poor maintenance, and general neglect. The very first impression I got was the malodorousness that permeated the entire facility. Upon entering my room, the odor was insulting as, clearly, this hotel once permitted smoking (but apparently made no effort to eliminate the persistent smell. The furniture must've been obtained from the local Goodwill as it was well-worn and mismatched. Cracked tile on the bathroom floor made the entire experience unpleasant. Hey Congress owner, it's time for a remodel!
Great Location and staff. Booked direct with Hilton for same price with a better cancellation policy and free WIFI for HHonors guests. Plenty of parking around hotel (spothero.com)
Large lift lobby, never needed to wait for lifts Exorbitant price for outdated facilities. Extra charge for gym use, for 2-hour checkout extension, poor Wi-Fi coverage, HHonors login doesn't match room reservation detail. Do your wallet a favour and stay elsewhere.
A Very Walkable City with wonderful waterfront area and Great Food at Lou Malnati's and Gene & Georgetti. Museums, Aquarium, Planetarium, Soldier Field, Jazz Clubs and Great Restaurants...Everything is centrally located in and around Grant Park which is right across the street from the HILTON CHICAGO. The bed pillows were AWFUL! mushy and no support. A minor point, that would NOT prevent me from staying there again. My biggest CON was the cost of parking $56/day (self park) or $70/day (valet), for the cost of the room it should be included. Also in-room WiFi is an additional charge, should also be included.
need upgrade. Wall paper in bathroom peered off. Mattress was uneven and too soft. Too dark in the room even in the daytime.
Beautiful view and rooms Rooms got hot at night and had to shower to feel better about it
I loved the location of the hotel. It was close to all that o came to town for. Plus the view from my room was spectacular! It was very easy to get a taxi, as the doorman did it for me. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Definitely will be returning on my next trip to Chicago! The only real complaint I can make about the hotel is the Herb n Kitchen on the main lobby floor. They claim to serve Starbucks which they do, but it tastes nothing like the real thing. The ingredients in my frap started to separate-- pretty sure te syrup was expired. But other than that, the rest of the hotel was amazing. I look forward to future stays there.
The location is good: close to subway, next to park, easy to get food to eat. I thought this is a 4-star hotel. When I saw the entrance of this hotel, it looks like 4-star. But when I got into the room, I thought I was in a 2-star Inn. The coffee maker is dirty, full of dust. The computer is not working and not able to off screen. The decoration of the room doesn't look like 4-star. Also, when the guest at next room used the bathroom, the loud "boom" sound would shock you. The WiFi is only free at lobby. The speed is really slow. When I refused to pay $30 for upgrade room with WiFi, the staff looked not happy. My teen girl was very disappointed for her trip to Chicago. She always wants to stay in hotel but this time she didn't want to stay longer.
Great location for walking to a concert at soldier field Waited line for 30 minutes to check in and that was for the Hilton Honors pre-checks. Regular check in line was likely 45 minutes+. Keys to our room didn't work. Had to wait in line another 30 minutes for new keys. When we returned at midnight from TS concert and tried new keys they did not work either. Waited 45 minutes for security to open door with 3 small exhausted children. After calling 4 times for security and no luck I finally spoke to a manger and he came and let us in. Was supposed to put new keys under door overnight that was not done. Never received a working key the entire stay. Needless to stay they comped my room. I still had to pay the ridiculous $69 for parking. We will not being staying here again.
Loved the Luxurious Amenities this hotel offers. Our room was comfortable, cold, and dark. All we needed was a fan to soothe me to sleep and upon calling the front desk, they delivered a fan to our room. Only negative I have is that our room had poor lighting. I'm a makeup artist so lighting is key for anyone to put on makeup, let alone a professional makeup artist like myself. Upgrade the lighting please!!
My hotel was right acros from the park..a short walk from the museum and aquarium, as well as a ferry to the pier! The room was clean and large, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby was beautiful! Hotel also has a large pool..was over all very impressed, would stay again on a return visit! That I had to leave!
Glasses which were used and kept aside for replacement were again kept in the same position for usage. they were not replaced just like any other utilities. overall very nice place
The amenities were great. I was given a larger room than expected with a nice (but not lake) view. The location was great and all staff were friendly and helpful. My room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. My room was also very clean and the tv had a lot of channels. Also, the building and common areas are absolutely gorgeous. I loved the gym facility and going for a swim after a stressful day. My only complaint is that there was a lot of loosely supervised young kids at the pool at 9pm. Would be nice if they had some hours for adults only.
We had a great time.It was really comfortable and had the best ubication! We will recomend it! Front desk personel at night must improve!!
The front desk was so nice and helpful! I would definitely recommmend this hotel to friends and stay here again!
The location is fantastic. It is great for sightseeing and shopping. The room was comfortable and modern. The beds were comfortable. The staff on check-in were not very friendly. The room was not equipped with a coffeemaker and should have been. The elevators are small and no one offered to help us with taking our luggage to our room. We had asked for a baby crib to be placed in the room on our reservation special requests and when we checked in, we were told there was no crib in the hotel. However, the staff ensured that a crib was delivered to the room immediately.
should have free wi-fi
Every thing is good
The location for us worked but the bathrooms need more space for storing cosmetics, toothbrushes, The showers sprayed water all over the floor and is a bad design. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would return if the price stays lower as others in the area. same above
Convenience of location, quietness of location, beds, comforters and pillows quite comfortable, staff quick to respond Bathroom: design flaw allows shower water to immediately drain onto floor, which has no drain; sink counter won't hold soap; inadequate # towel racks.
The very comfortable bed. There was no counter top or shelf in the bathroom for storing personal items such as toothbrushes and travel bag of toiletries.
the size, cleanliness of rooms was a great value for price. did not like the fact that housekeeping knocks on your door at 8am if you did not put do not disturb sign up.
The hotel is historic, but apart from the lobby, which is impressive, the historic details are not well preserved, so overall it feels less like a grand old hotel and more like just an old and run-down hotel. The room was small; carpet was worn out; drapes hideous; no fan in the bathroom; a tray of junk food was set out on display front of the bed, which could not be moved without incurring a charge, so it was like we were sleeping in a convenience store.
The check in was smooth and easy. Our attendant answered all of our questions and made great suggestions for food and activities. I will say, i had the BEST caramel macchiato at the Starbucks that is in this hotel. I told the barista then, and i'm saying it again now, it was hands down the best! The bed seemed really firm which is unusual for hotels, usually they are plush.
Walk into the grand lobby and you feel like you're part of Chicago history. The rooms are a little small.
Location was great. Near millennium park and downtown attractions Never experienced worse hotel staff than this. From the bell man to reception to guest services
Efficient and clean
Location Beds were lopsided, couldn't sleep on it.
Gorgeous lobby with polite staff. The bed was incredibly comfy and the room fairly clean. We had a room that shared a door with another room. It was EXTREMELY loud despite the gentlemen next door speaking in normal volume levels. They had their tv quite low, yet we could hear every word. It made us very uncomfortable. We chose not to make a fuss out of it since we had a terrible drive in and we were only staying one night. The bathroom was TINY.
Incredibly beautiful hotel. The lobby is a masterpiece. I felt like I was transported in time...with modern amenities close by. Wish there was a refrig in the room but other than that, this trip was perfect. I plan to visit The Palmer many more times.
The main lobby and bar were beautiful and relaxing areas and the hotel is well maintained and clean. Rooms and bathroom were very small and the building is definitely an older building. That being said, the interiors were clean and well taken care of, and the common areas were very well kept and beautiful.
We had a lovely room, very well decorated. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was quiet and the staff was extremely personable whenever we came across them. The lobby itself is worth a visit. It's like stepping into a guided yesteryear. The paint on the back of the bathroom door was flaking. The tv is too small and it was hard to get the remote to work with it from the beds.
In the middle of everywhere I needed to be! Near read line, near great restaurants and near the bean. Bed was a bit too uncomfortable and no water pressure in shower.
Décor in the lobby was fantastic, staff in the restaurant were wonderfully attentive. Excessive noise due to an event with 200 high school and young adults. They were allowed to run up and down the stair wells until 4am even after complaining to the front desk. I expected the Palmer House to be luxury accommodations, but found in reality they do not care about their guests. Host at the Honors desk was very short and abrupt.
Superior service and accommodations, personal at hotel far superior to any staff at any hotel!
The staff was extremely helpful with everything from directions to meal preferences. The quality of atmosphere was also very good. The decor and views from the hotel were better than anywhere I've ever stayed. The pool area was not on par with the essence or ambiance of the rest of the hotel, with the lack of hot tub areas and the extreme plainness of the pool area compared to the rest of the hotel.
Extremely helpful staff and the facilities were first class from room amenities to the gym. Location is great - easy walking access to shopping, tourist destinations etc
Service staff never made me feel like I was a bother. I loved the spacious and newly remodeled room we stayed in. Beautiful bump out bay window with breathtaking views of the river and Lake Michigan. Bathroom had very high end finishes, and also included a television in the mirror! The maintenance guy who tried to fix a broken bathroom light was using very profane language as he failed at repairing the light. However, this staff member's behavior scored us a free upgrade from city view - to river lake view - so it all worked out.
This is a great hotel the atmosphere that employees everyone was great there
great accomodations and service
Location of the hotel was close to downtown and many activities I would like wireless internet in guest rooms (for free)
Was ok Thanks Dirty cutlery/plates left by the cleaning staff left in the passage for more than 24 hours.
Spacious room Had to wait for my room Heating went into cooling so too sensitive and could not control to heat only. Bath tub did not drain well.
Additional price for fittness facilities ($12 per/person per day);Long-distance rates (over $10 per minute !!!), spring water provided in rooms - almost $6 per 1,89L bottle
Nothing!!!! Because my credit card was charged twice for $1068.72!!!! And it absolutely ruined my trip!!!! My credit card was charged twice for $1068.72!!!! And it absolutely ruined my trip!!!! Also... When making my reservation through Booking.com, the Sheraton Chicago didn't have my reservation in their system!!! Booking.com had to fax over my reservation twice, hence the double charge on my credit card!!!!
I enjoyed the view of the Chicago River, watching the excursion boats, view of the Trump hotel.
Comfort and the attention of the reception employees. The location is also excellent. The room was not clean. I found a dirty glass under the bed. Besides, dirty plates remained for long hours in front of the doors of some rooms. I really hope it was an exception: that´s why I keep on recommending the hotel.
Bed linens and beds were comfy. Motelish
The location was perfect! We were able to shop, enjoy the nightlife, and take in the Chicago Marathon. Everything was close by. The price was pretty high, but we stayed over Columbus Day/Chicago Marathon weekend so I guess that rooms were at a premium.
I liked the central location of the hotel. I think the charge for internet-acces is ridiculous, the room-service sometimes took very long (1,5 hour) and they tried to charge me more than what I had originally booked for.
Friendly, professional staff. Great accommodations. Perfect location. Especially liked the on-site dining options.
It was a great location and the staff was very friendly. I spent a lot of time looking for a room that would comfortably fit 3 adults. I was traveling with my 19 year old daughter and my 67 year old mother. I specifically booked and paid for a "triple room". When we got to the room there were 2 small double beds. Not at all what I expected for 3 adults or for $400 per night. Be very aware of what you are actually getting for your money. This was not at all comfortable for 3 regular sized adults. I will say everything else was fine but I felt very ripped off for what we paid vs. what we got. I could have booked a regular room anywhere for much less.
Conveniently located. Charm and romantic setting!
This was a beautiful hotel. Location was great...very safe neighborhood! The bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to get out of it. I would stay here again for sure.
location - rooms - Having to pay for wifi
Excellent location - a great place to stay for exploring the city of Chicago! Quick taxi ride in from O'Hare airport (approx $40), close to tour bus stops & many sights.
The room was great, very clean and comfartable. The bathroom was especially great. Very nice However it was crazy to charge people $10 per night for slow internet access. I once stayed at a cheap motel that had internet access for all its guests. It is for that reason alone I would not return. Its almost insulting not to have free wifi in a four star hotel
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. From Sean at the front desk, to Tom the bellman, Andre and Stephen in the restaurant and Tom at the front door. The beds were beyond comfortable. I wanted to take my bed home with me. Good Location - 1 block off of Michigan Avenue and 1 block from the Lakeshore. My only complaint is the lighting in the bathroom. Putting make up on was difficult due to the lighting in the bathroom and the depth of the vanity. A lighted makeup mirror attached to the wall just in side the door would help with that.
Everything in the hotel was perfect! The location was excellent, the staff was very very friendly ( especially Birsen in the reception and Tom in the luggage), the cleaning ladies were doing a wonderful job. We enjoyed every singel minute in the hotel. The room was large and comfortable; very relaxing bed and no noise from outside or other rooms.
We loved the newly remodeled room. It felt very clean. The bedding was soft and inviting. We did not like the overhead shower, however, it was not necessary that we use it because there was a hand-held shower head as well. But honestly, just a nice wall mounted shower head is best.
Rate and location. Nice bathroom fixtures and room furnishings Common areas are worn and tattered.. Looks tired and dirty Although I requested a non smoking room, my room smelled ,like smoke and needed to be deodorized
Checkin and checkout were extremely easy. The restaurant served a wonderful breakfast, and the waitstaff were friendly and helpful.
Very good location Hotel wasn't nearly as nice as other embassy suites I have stayed at.
Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Enjoyed happy hour each night.
Located close to shopping and conference centers Amenities are average
Staff was very helpful and we were able to get a later checkout upon our departure, which was nice and allowed to kids to swim for a bit before we left. Check in and out was easy, and parking was easily accessible. The price on the all inclusive Disney kids on Demand TV package I order did not reflect what was charged to my bill. It was only a difference of $2.99 and ultimately not a big deal, but still, I feel as though you should be paying what you are quoted. Also, being that it was a holiday weekend, it would have been nice if breakfast was open until 10 as it is on the weekends, but I get the weekend vs. weekend schedule. The lines were a bit long by the end of breakfast and early breakfast is always hard to do with my kids. But again, not a huge deal in the whole scheme of things. We will definitely be back.
Stayed here Dec 12-14, 2014, this was our 2nd time staying here due to close proximity to Navy Pier's Winter Wonderland. Last year the Manager's reception offered better appetizers, seemed to be a bit cheaper this year. Staff is wonderful and room was really clean. We had an issue with the thermostat, it was almost 80 degrees the whole stay. The kids love it here, it's really family oriented. They seemed to like swimming in the pool better than Winter Wonderland, they made several little friends during our short stay. Will probably be back next year, we love it here.
Great location and comfortable rooms; breakfast was an awesome surprise in variety and quality Room service was slow, rooms not super clean and could definitely do without the lobby dance music during the day when kids were napping
Not convient. Poor service
Nice hotel, casual and comfortable. Great breakfast. Very convenient to Navy Pier. Would definitely reccomend to friends and would stay here again.
Friendly staff and clean facility No complaints
Check in was busy but efficient Because it was our 10th wedding anniversary I called to have a bottle of proseco waiting for us in the room. I was told they didn't have proseco but it was listed in the menu. The walls are paper thin. So much so not only could I hear the guy next door but I could also hear the person he was talking to on the phone. came downstairs to get my car from the valet and was told it would take 20 minutes. No one said anything when I checked in and there were no instructions that allowed you to call ahead from your room. Bathroom floor was sticky. Overall, the worse hotel visit.
Very clean comfortable room with a great view. Close to many areas we wanted to visit. Would definitely choose this hotel again.
Centrally located and accessible to tourist attractions. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Value priced.
From check in to check out, our stay at the Hyatt Regency was a superb experience. The staff was genuinely hospitable, and the entire facility was luxurious. The premium view is worth the extra $$$, as we had a breathtaking view of the river and lakefront. Definitely recommend. It was pricey, but definitely worth it. I really can't say anything else that was undesirable, as our stay was basically perfect.
Location was great. Staff was nice. Workout facility adequate. The BIG bar and the common spaces were really neat. no convienent way to have towels replaced. You had to call housekeeping. Also the sink was small, no place to leave personal items on sink. Couldn't use the refrigerator because it was rigged to charge you for minibar items.
Bed was to soft pillows
Overall good stay here, the lobby is great with friendly front desk staff and the Big Bar is pretty cool to grab a couple drinks. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The bell hop that helped us with our bags was extremely rude and not helpful. Also the bartender we had was not very pleasant.
Easy walk to many restaurant, sites and public transportation.
almost everything $65 for parking at their hotel. too much for guest
Massive hotel. too big. very unpersonal. conference hotel and for group travel.
I enjoyed my stay. No recommendations for improvement T this time
One of the better exercise areas I've seen in a hotel. A shop downstairs for incidentals (especially water) would be nice, instead of having to walk to the nearby Seven Eleven.
It was nice and in a great location They gave me a single king room with no view but I payed for a double queen with a view and even paid extra for a view room and then just gave us a free meal that sucked
Wedding with loud DJ two floors above us kept us up one night. We called the desk and they seemed like they couldnt have cared less about our concern
Great last minute room rate. Odors in lobby and hallway. Exhaust problems from kitchen.
staff super professional and freindly location is great rooms are great price to valet parking "free" WIFI in rooms, weak
I stayed here for business and also leisure. I chose this hotel based off of location and it was perfectly placed near all of the great tourism spots in the city. I walked everywhere all weekend, which is a great way to burn off all the delicious food Chicago has to offer. The view from the room of the city and the Chicago river is spectacular. The hotel staff was extremely nice, accommodating and the rooms were very clean. The parking fee to keep your car there during your stay is astronomical. We received a note card saying we get a "free gift" for staying there in our room the first morning we were there. When we turned it in, it was a free vacation only if you were over 28 and married and your spouse was staying with you, which I didn't qualify for as my spouse was at home. Because of that, I received one drink with an appetizer purchase (so not a free gift if you have to buy something ) at the hotel resturant. I think gimmicks like this are insulting and a waste of the guests time.
I loved that we had a mini sofa in our room. I would have liked a mirror outside of the bathroom - 4 people had to share one mirror for hair, makeup etc.
Everything... not the room i asked for... was lied too. telling me things would be the same and werent... not even close. will not use again.
We loved the location, the room and the view- just didn't like being next to the elevator. Other than that- it was great!!
Great people! Helpful and personal service. We requested a river view room (def worth the extra $$!) and were surprised with an amazing corner room with the greatest views! This location is better than staying up in the Mag Mile area if you plan on seeing the sights. Short walk to Millenium Park, Art Institute, and the L. And you are right at the base of the Mag Mile. Loved being on the river more than I can say! The room was clean and comfy, not a five star hotel but a very acceptable four star. The restaurant/bar is not wonderful, but we don't go to Chicago to eat in the hotel. The shower had one of those fancy yet totally impractical giant shower heads that comes down from the center of the ceiling. A trend that needs to go away.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful room! At least 2 ice machines were not operational.
Loved the view from our room. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Some of the bellhop men could be more friendly but besides that it was a very amazing stay for our family!
The bed and shower were amazing!
Body hair on the bathroom sink. stains on toilet. Kind of gross for the price.
People are friendly Restaurant is very good Design is current Beds are comfortable air conditioning unit in room was loud
comfy bed, great location, nice lobby. Front desk lady was not very helpful. Toilet smelled like sewage. They called me from front desk to tell me someone was at my door from hotel personnel when I had privacy sign on...that woke me up...What kind of "privacy on" is this?
We had a great weekend staying at The Thompson! The location, staff and room were outstanding! We will definitely be staying here again!
The beautiful view of lake Michigan. Close proximity to great restaurants and shopping. Nico Osteria restaurant within the hotel was excellent. The room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed, reading light ( unexpected), and huge bathroom and shower. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One of the late afternoons we needed to call for extra towels, since our room had not been cleaned, and we had been out all day. I do realize that this weekend was a home Bears foorball game and was very busy.
We go downtown every Christmas and this was the first time we stayed here. We loved it. Friendly staff, wonderful accommodation, and great location. We will certainly be back.
Nice Interior Design. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. This is a much better location than other hotels I have stayed at further south. We took a very nice walk north to Lincoln Park. It is a beautiful neighborhood and does not even feel like you are in the city. Too pricey for me to use other than business. I did not need or use "facilities" so that is the only reason I did not give that an "excellent" score. We were not impressed with the breakfast food. We were very pleased with our lunch at Gibson's across the street.
We chose the Thompson Hotel for its location and value on Kayak. If I was traveling alone on business it would have been a better choice. They are super accomaditing allowing us to check in at 11:00 am without any problems. They also have a great online precheck in service. There is a Starbucks next door and good restaurants all around it. The precheck in service is a great idea however, it is as if you actually request something like an extra blanket or extra towels which were questions on the precheck in system they do not fulfill them. The elevator system requires you to use your room key to get up to your floor however, there is only one reader per elevator and it was virtually impossible to get to it when using the elevator. So many people were talking about riding the elevator up and down trying to get to their floors. The showers were never hot just warm regardless of the time of day. The A/C was all over the the place, hot / cold. The room refresh was seriously below average and actually just a really bad bed make up with fresh towels. They basically missed at the attempt to be a chic boutique hotel. There is no real identity to this property.
The Thompson Hotel Staff were amazing, very friendly and accommodating. We were upgraded to a corner king suite as it was our wedding night so that was a pleasant surprise as well. Overall wonderful experience. Would definitely go back. Nothing!
Fantastic location, outstanding room. Would go back in a minute.
We loved everything about it. From the very beginning (checkin) till the very last second before we left the hotel. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The Concierge made arrangements for a boat trip on the Chicago River. Housekeeping kept our room in perfect shape. We had a room on the 21st floor which had the perfect view towards the chicago skyline. It was awesome. I gladly recommend to visit the Thompson Chicago and will for sure also book on other occasions other Thompson hotels. Thank you for this very wonderful and perfect vacation, Thompson. nothing!
Whinin walking distance to downtown shopping and attractions and great restaurants, walked to Chicsgo Art Institute to take in Van Gough exhibit. Parking too expensive
The Drake is a Chicago classic. A bit old, but very luxuries and very, very beautiful. The excellent location and nice staff delivering outstanding service make the Drake the place to be. A bit dated, and almost impossible to roll your own luggage. Unlike most hotels with marble floors, The Drake has the thickest carpet imaginable. Also, the rooms are small for the US (and the money) and you will pay a lot for a view. However, this is the oldest and most desirable location that The Drake sets the standards for all of the other Chicago luxury hotels.
location 65.00 a day to park car didn't know where to go for breakfast?? not alot of water pressure for shower
Staff were tremendous Hotel needs updating. It is old, worn and dirty
Location and old world elegance Several elevators broken, tea room not kept up-my chair had a big hole in it. Chairs looked dilapidated, carpet worn, menu insert pages barely legible (bad photo copies). Most pages had faded writing in 3 of the four menus. Also-3 menus did not include alcoholic beverages
not much Room was 'nasty' for a 4 star hotel. -broken soap dish on the floor -faucet handle was not fastened and fell. -really dirty carpet -old building. poorly renovated. bad paint job in the hallways.
Great location and afternoon tea was amazing.
Room was clean. No recreational stuff no pool no sauna nothing it was boring.
We loved the location and the welcoming and helpful staff. The atmosphere is elegant. For a small extra cost, we opted for the Executive Room with access throughout the day for a light breakfast, snacks during the day, and hors doerves during cocktail hour. It's view is spectacular and all but the tables which are too small, we enjoyed immensely and visited often during our stay. WiFi in your room is an extra cost and not included in the price of your room.
Location, staff, clean and with the exception of very little water on the 25 th floor, very nice. The hotel lacked water for bathing. We stayed on the 25th floor and were told that was the reason. Interesting
Location could not be better. The suit was really very comfortable with washing maschine, kitchen and 2 TV not
Comfortable, great location, clean and spacious - exactly what we needed for a short trip to Chicago.
We liked the over-sized room that was clean and close to everything that we wanted to do. The staff was friendly & helpful. The parking issues others note really was not that big of a deal. The hotel is quiet and in our opinion, a fantastic value.
It's a great place to stay
Excellent value for money. Huge room/suite. No shower pressure
Loved this hotel!!! Staff was really friendly and helpfull, the room was a great size and the view just amazing. The location is excellent - close to the attractions, shopping malls and the public transport.
We were on the 23rd floor and the view of the City was increadable. The room was wonderful, very clean, and every detail was taken care of. I would highly recomend the Comfort Suites Michigan Avenue to all my friends. Every day we had to go to the lobby to get our key cards re-magnatised.
The suite was spacious, with separate bedroom and sitting areas, a kitchen, two televisions, a large desk, breakfast bar and lots of windows. The bathroom was recently renovated and extremely clean, as was the rest of the room. It was very quiet. I wished that the wireless internet service was available in room, rather than just in the lobby. The free breakfast was unremarkable. The location was within fairly easy walking distance of many attractions, but there were very few restaurants to choose from in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
The comfort of the hotel That the hotel don't have a free parking for the guests, that is the worst.
The staff was nice, and hotel was pretty much what I expected except as noted: Elevators were a little weird and didn't work as expected Room was deceptively *tiny*
I did not like anything about this hotel. It's in downtown Chicago and it has carpet like a motel. Does not make you feel comfortable at all. The tv sucks the picture even worse. The worst hotel I've been too! Too expensive for a motel like setting. First and last time ever at this hotel. -10
Quick check in process. Cute as can be room.
Great location, friendly staff, reasonable price Room smelled like smoke
Very small rooms.
Small Room not clean
Great value...clean....excellent location for shopping Michigan avenue...staff helpful...no complaints!
I came to stay at Hotel Felix for NYE in Chicago. The location was excellent and I never had to walk more than 15 minutes to get to anything. Just a few blocks from Michigan Ave and tons of restaurants. But, the rooms were dirty and our floor smelled horrible. I'm certain our sheets were never washed due to all of the mystery hairs I found in the sheets. We also had a mix up when we checked in. Instead of putting us in a queen room, like we reserved 4 months prior, we were placed in room with 2 full beds. When we asked to be moved to our appropriate room so were placed in a tiny room. If you don't mind sacrificing space and cleanliness for location this hotel is fine. But if you are expecting a luxurious night in the city don't waste your time.
Almost everything was absolutely wonderful except... Cleaning staff did not fully replace my used towels and cups. Also, the location made it difficult to easily hail a taxi.
The hotel is quirky, clean and comfortable. Compact rooms for people looking for a comfortable place to sleep but don't need all the bells and whistles. Everything was clean. The girl at the front desk checking in was mumbly and hard to hear. Waited 5+ minutes for a valet attendant to show up (we were the only people there at the moment). Then we were taken up to an uncleaned room. Storing our bags in luggage after we checked out was a similar struggle finding an attendant that was supposed to be there. Fortunately there was one of the staff members who continually helped resolve the issues all weekend long. He was very professional and willing to do any job with patience and a smile. Please hire more staff like him!
The hotel is very modern and attractive. And it is in a good location. The bell staff is very friendly Extremely small rooms. Small bathroom with shower only whichhas a curtain not glass Detracts from look. There are no bedside lamps ! Too bad for readers.bartender is sweet, not really does not know how to make a drink-not all that familiar with different types of drinks, bar not set up didn't have cherries, fruit.
It looks very chic walking in. The staff was all young and super friendly. The air smelled like it was diffused with something. There was a small bar and restaurant attached, which was convenient. Room was small but clean and nice. Staff suggested a boat tour and also booked it for us AND printed off directions, which was really helpful. The room was very small.. I kept hitting my shins on the edge of the bed. My friend and I stayed there together so it made for a pretty tight space but we didn't spend a ton of time in there so it was fine. Also, no breakfast, just free coffee. We ordered towels at one point and no one ever showed up.
