We regularly come back to this hotel and always find it a charming and romantic place in the middle of a beautiful city at the sea! The food is excellent.
The whole hotel was charming and comfortable.
The atmosphere, the interieurs, the autencity, the people. no
Friendly Staff, Great location, Good Breakfast. Noise level from neighbors, street, and rest of hotel is very high. Rooms are a bit worse for wear and are in need of renovation. WiFi connectivity is limited to specific areas of the hotel and cannot be accessed from your room. overpriced.
Extraordinarily pretty location and the hotel itself is so serene. Service is slow in general. The rooms are clean but the bathrooms need more attention in general.
Great location and ambience. Very relaxed but with great service and breakfast. Delightful interior decor. Rooftop disco from the bar next door was very obtrusive but luckily stopped late in the evening.
It is certainly in need of an update, especially the bathrooms and the roof terrace. The hotel has a reputation of being very stylish and although the rooms are nicely decorated there is quite a lot of wear and tear.
Great style, beautiful view, fabulous location, lovely vibe. The bathrooms needed a reworking and the room mildly smelled of mould.
Good room, good facilities, good location, friendly staff - and a very good bed, I slept so good. None. :-)
The sea view was magnificent. No alcohol exists in the hotel. If you want some wine with your dinner you have to bring your own. We
Excellent staff, very helpful and courteous. Stayed in a sea view suite overlooking the Atlantic. Felt like sleeping on the beach.Magnificent hotel.
A wonderful place on earth. We enjoyed every minute in our room - with the view, wind and waves - and also the interior of the whole hotel - and the roof terrasse - and the friendly staff.
The view from our room was the most breathtaking seaside view I have ever seen. It was like being at sea. The staff was incredibly nice, helpful, and solicitous.
We had a room with a double aspect sea view which was fantastic. The restaurant is on the roof so there are spectacular sea views for you to admire while you are having breakfast. The location is perfect. The outside roof terrace was very mucky. I can see that the seagulls are a big problem but if the area was cleaned up it would be great to sit out there as the views are great.
The hotel is in an extraordinary position by the sea, and the room we had was like being in a ship on the high seas. We were surrounded by rocks and crashing waves. The wind and sea were quite noisy although it didn't disturb our sleep. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfasts were ok but we had better breakfasts in other places in Morocco
Great location and fantastic views. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good. The receptionist enquired about activities we might be interested in, we mentioned horse riding and she was very insistent about booking it for us. I'd say she is on commission. Anyway it turns out the ranch they use is Diabat, which we read some bad reviews about and the reviews are true...the horses are skittish and jumpy and I wouldn't recommend doing horse riding through the hotel.
Located absolutely in incredible place- directly on the ocean coast...Very romantic, nice staff, friendly and helpful... Yes coz the cleaning women was stolen my money when I was out from the room. She was stollen 40 euro from my pocket but probably it's my fault - to leave money in the room.
Outstanding terrace on the roof top, very nice breakfast and lovely colonial patio at the entrance.
location was excellent and roof terrace had great views Place felt dated, dark, unloved and creepy. The staff were helpful but not friendly. Breakfast was basic but good.
delightful staff--good value
This was a beautiful and comfortable riad. It was just a few streets off the main action so nice and quiet. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and quiet. The terrace on the roof is beautiful and has good views. Breakfast can be served on the terrace and was very good. The riad style of the hotel makes it noisy at times. There were children staying in other rooms and were quite loud in the mornings. They only left us one towel for two people but provided a second on request. The desk staff was highly variable in english understanding so knowing a bit of french was very helpful.
the riad was beautiful with a fabulous roof terrace. The room was lovely and the staff could not have been more helpful. We were looking for a relaxing break in stylish surroundings and we couldn't have been happier. Les Terrasses d'Essaouira was an oasis of charm in the midst of the bustle of the medina. Location was superb as it is located close to the sea wall and surrounded by many eateries within short walking distance. We had not had the riad experience before and I couldn't fault this one. Nothing to moan about.
Beautiful hotel, the rooms are very spacious, clean and calm. The tagine we had was amazing, the best we had during our trip, made especially for us, taken in the library, was a real treat! Nice roof terrace. Very helpful staff, always there for you. Really good address, to be recommended. The room we had didn't have a window in the bathroom, which was a shame.
Very cosy hotel with great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Beautiful roof terrace. Good to know that not all room have exterior window but a window facing the patio. And no tv. Not at all a problem to us.
location, staff and the excellent atmosphere of the riad.
The staff, particularly the managers were very helpful and quite friendly. Children of other guests were allowed to run around making loud noises early in the morning. The shower was less than satisfactory.
friendly, helpful, multilingual staff at front desk, spacious room, location so close to main shopping areas, and the fact that the hotel is on a pedestarins only street helps cut off the vehicle noise and pollution. bring in more natural light specially to the room at the rear, toilet in the room and the lobby could be fixed up to make them more user friendly and comfortable.Breakfast has to improve, towels are very worn out and not white any more, new towels will certainly help. Shower curtain wil help to keep the floor dry. The restaurent could function like a proper restaurent with a menu that can take care of vegans and vegetarians, fresh juice, herbal as well as caffine free tea, coffee etc.
Staff were very good and the Riads location was very close to everthing we needed to see The room we had was on the top floor and so they need to put in either airconconditiong or at least provide a fan to move the air abput
The staff is excellent, the location extraordinary and the breakfast very nice. The house and the decoration is very good, a typical maroccan house. I strongly recommend it. For me was everything nice, but someone can't like the wc
A charming and delghtful Riad. Very good value for money. Staff were very nice and helpful, could not ask for a better ambience. Excellent location, beautiful courtyard and decor, quiet rooms, comfortable, spotless, thouroughly reccomended.
Everything was so nice. There are also nice spot for taking pictures even in this Riad. The hotel staff are very kind, and trying to make the guests feel at home and confortable. We would like to come back and stay this Riad again!! None.
The location was great. 2 minutes from the port and beach, in the medina. It's also easy to find unlike many others. The owner happily helped make arrangements for my onward journey, and it was the first place I had stayed in where english was spoken (as well as french). Helpful for the non-french speakers.
The highlight of our stay at Riad Mason Du Sud was the town of Essaouira. The Riad was in an excellent central location. It was very easy to get there from the bus station with the help of the porters that await you. We were right in the center of the Medina with shops and restaurants all around. The common rooms and the roof top terrace were very nice. Also it is one of the few Riads that offers in room safes and locking doors. Credit cards were excepted and the front desk was helpful with maps, restaurant recommendations, and directions. The Riad was a bit musty and damp. Our room lacked a window to outside and since the courtyard had been roofed over there was no air circulation. The roof top terrace was lovely but there were yoga classes being held there that forced guests to remain in a small portion as all of the furniture was moved to accommodate yoga. It was a bit of a challenge to get a table for four for breakfast and we thought the breakfast to be mediocre. This Riad was written up in Frommer's and was reported to have bikes as well as a bar neither which was on site.
We had a suit booked which was spacious and very good, the hotel was lovely and the staff very helpful. Good breakfast. Our suit was on the top floor overlooking the street which seemed to be a gathering point for local youths who caused quite a lot of noise until late at night- I'm not sure if this is usual or just for the 2 nights we stayed. Rooms at the back would be much quieter but watching the street below was enjoyable.
The location was excellent, the rooms were clean. Compared with most places, its a little expensive; however this seem to be the trend in morocco as a whole.
we had a chambre vue medina but there was no vue at all. a huge concrete wall was put up in front of us, a new hotel probably. yet they advertised this room as a room vue medina. i think that is 'inadmissible' we had a chambre vue medina but there was no vue at all. a huge concrete wall was put up in front of us, a new hotel probably. yet they advertised this room as a room vue medina. i think that is 'inadmissible'as we paid for a room with a vue. in addiiton there were work people constantly in front of us and my daugher and I could never ever sit on the balcony. really horrible
The local Moroccan restaurant The haughtiness and unfriendliness of the check in desk staff, manager included
Good hotel. Location very good; service very good and friendly. Special attention for our anniversary without asking. Try to have a rrom with an ocean view. It is worth the price.
Spacious room. Good aircon. Large comfortable bed. Excellent location. Good pool. Polite and helpful staff. We had a very comfortable stay.. Appearance of bathroom a litle tired and shower not quite hot enough.
The Swimming pool was amazing and the room had a lovely balcony facing onto the pool. The cleaning staff were also very helpful and friendly The breakfast costing 18 euro was very expensive. Also when we arrived we were never told about any of the facilities or restaurants which we had to find out for ourselves
Central swimming pool and location to the beach
Definitely not suitable for a muslim family.
I appreciated the welcome and service in the room. The private beach is well cared for and the pool is functional. Hotels on to expectations.
we liked the location, the facility of the private beach We did think the breakfast was value for money, poor choice of cheese, the orange juice was not fresh. The decor of the bedroom a bit old fashion, the spa has not atmosphere compared to other similar hotel
nice views waiting staff, and breakfast not very good
Nice room and reception area. Too big and impersonal
The hotel was very clean and modern. It was very comfortable especially after staying at various other places in morocco.
Could walk to everything, but it was out of the craziness of the medina.
Accomodation was truly 5 star, and the access to the beach excellent Catering! Breakfast was mediocre. The Moroccan restaurant lacked choice. The buffet restaurant served food which was barely warm. The Beach restaurant, was OK, but not as good as the one at the Sofitel. In general food in the Atlas was disappointing, and not in keeping with the quality of the rest of the hotel
The friendly helpful staff, the pool the, in fact the whole experience. No Tea/Coffee facilities in the room..as with most 5* hotels.
Lovely, comfort hotel, not as good as 5 star European standard but close enough, missing some extra touches to make it really 5 star also reception staff not really welcoming or friendly in general, should try at least to smile. Location good for beach but 15 mins plus walk to centre. Lovely pool, lobby and room but need to pay extra for sea view etc. Breakfast was not included and at 200 mad too expensive! Staff at reception not friendly, toilets at pool could be a lot cleaner
It was very comfortable
Location, staff kindness and value for money
The rooms were amazing, the pool is a bonus too although its not too sheltered from the wind. Very comfortable, breakfast is great The staff were not overly helpful on reception and english was not good
the room and staff
We were greeted by a member of staff who told us everything we needed to know about Essaouira, including a tip for the best restaurant in town - Elizir. We stayed in 2 different rooms - Berber & Hayate. Both were very clean and nicely decorated, Hayate has the biggest bath you've ever seen, almost a swimming pool. Breakfast was fantastic, even included cake!
Great food, beautiful rooms and very friendly and nice staff. Everyday freshly made cake and bread fpr breakfast. The bathroom is only separated by a curtain from the rest of the room.
An amazing hotel - beautiful rooms beyond expectations, great staff, good breakfasts. the highlight of our trip to Morroco.
Hotel and staff were so friendly. Really chiiled enviroment. Our room was fabulous with and amazing bath sprinkled with rose petals and candles! Totally would recomend and go back.
it's a lovely, bright and cheerful riad ; a calm and comfortable plkace to relax in the midst of the medina. The breakfasts were excellent and all staff and proprietors were friendly and helpful. the bed wasn't very comfortable...the mattress was not firm.
Very good staff: we received very detailed information on the city's main attraction. The riad is very nice and comfortable and they assigned us a bigger room than the one we booked. We would definitely recommend.
Very nice room. Bigger than my expectations. Nice breakfast. It should have better towels.
We got a free upgrade to a suite, the bathroom was spacious and the shower had great pressure and was always hot. Breakfast was simple but very nicely done.
The hotel is extremally charming and the staff very welcoming and helpful.
The ideal location
I would rate it a 3+ star hotel location is fine good to discover Essaouira's Medina the dirty narrow short alley leading to the hotel from the main street
Staff friendliness, breakfasts
The hotel lived up to the description and photos in every way. Its situation in the middle of the medina was perfect if you like looking around old places. The inhabitants are incredibly friendly and helpful. Altogether a super holiday with wall to wall sunshine.
location inside the medina, dirty outside better signs for location for the first timers.
The postion was excellent and the views were stunning. The staff were very friendly and gave excellent service. After 5 days the breakfasts became a bit boring. We had to ask for clean towels twice. There was only 1 hairdryer for 23 rooms and it was broken for 2 days.
The sea breeze fish restaurants port lack of hassle from locals
The Riad was very central, fabulously comfortable and the staff excellent. Jean Gabrielle was very accomodating. Cant recommend this enough. Great library too! Nothing to dislike!
It was the most friendly, helpful place we stayed at and we will go back. We were upgraded to a better room. A cosy intimate dining room with good food for a night in. An artists paradise. A real gem of a place. We liked everything
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Beautiful and big rooms.Homely atmosphere. Meals delicious! You will probably not find a better place in Essaouira! Thanks a lot to the host Jean Gabriel.
great service, great rooms, great food, great location!
The staff and owner were really welcoming and helpful and we loved the design of the riad and the decor of the rooms. Breakfast on the terrace was great and one night we ate dinner in the riad which was lovely. Nothing
It's without any doubt one of the best places we have ever been. It's the unique combination of the nice Ryad located in a former school, the spacious, well designed and nicely decorated rooms, the roof terrace for breakfast and relaxing, but overall the very kind and helpfull staff. These people really understand how to run a hotel with a completely natural friendliness. Truly exceptional.
Jean Gabriel, the owner spent an entire afternoon with me doing an art tour of the old Medina. Wow, what an amazing service! Lovely Riad.
The hotel was well presented, basic and very clean. The breakfast was good - standard Moroccan fare. It is a little too far out - 15mins walking but there is nothing around it so to do anything we needed to walk to the medina. On that basis we stayed only one night. We also managed to get a beautiful hotel in town for very little difference in price so we felt as though we paid too much in the end.
The location of the hotel could not be faulted. I feel the place could do with an upgrade: it is living off its former glory. Breakfast on the terrace was spoilt by flies and wasps. The staff were (politely) in your face about booking restaurants (every time we saw them). The hotel was overpriced for its quality compared to a cheaper better riad we stayed in in Marrakech.
Impressive location with extensive views over coast. Hotel was peaceful and attractively decorated and furnished. Staff were discreet and friendly. Special mention for manager Crystelle who was excellent - she was charming and always ready to advise and help.
The room had nice decor, and the roof terrace had a good view. There were extensive building works at the entrance, and audible most of the day. The room was very expensive for what it was. The hotel itself had a sterile feel to it.
Everyone was very nice and helpful. It was like staying in someones own home. I am allergic to cats and they are roaming everwhere. Unfortunately, it is not just this hotel. It is the whole country. I should have known that.
Management and Staff were excellent and the views from the roof Terrace amazing. Building work going on especially when communal staircase used. Rubble etc in the alley way.
We had a gorgeous, gorgeous time here over three nights. We stayed in the Pasha, on the terrace, and every morning opened the shutters directly to the sky and the sea. The ginormous bathtub was a real treat, too. Breakfast served on the terrace was a delight -- we had a hard time tearing ourselves away to go explore the medina. Christine and her team are warm and welcoming, were always on hand to give directions and make restaurant reservations, and I'm sure if we had more demands they would have done their best to help. As it was, we were so blissed out we couldn't ask for more!
The only thing I didn't like was that the room (Ilham) didn't smell very well, which made it a bit uncomfortable.
Perfect location to enjoy Essaouira plus great views from the roof terrace, comfortable, clean and quiet rooms, and helpful, welcoming people.
Was not a cheap hotel, the bath room was poor.
the breakfasts were excellent, the decor was nice and the staff were friendly. lack of air con as the temputure was high at night however the weather untypically hot.
Good atmosphere, nice feel. Well decorated, good breakfasts, friendly staff
Lovely decor, friendly and attentive staff, great atmosphere, good value, thoroughly recommended.
The staff was very nice and accomodating, whiling to recommend activities or restaurants. The riad itself was fabulous, confortable and coosy. Everything you would expect from this type of establishment.
Location is very convenient, within walking distance of all the main sights, beach and excellent restaurants (M'Riste Jouhar right next door & Sirocco around the corner to name but two great restaurants). The rooftop terrace with seaviews is a lovely spot for breakfast or relaxation.
We liked our stay in riad Al Zahia a lot. The stuff was very friendly, our room was really great, the location of the riad is perfect.
Location within the Medina excellent, close to the beach and restaurants. Rooms are very noisy, yet with no external windows. The Yasmina room wasn't nice so we switched although had to pay for it so it turned out quite expensive.
lovely house and very friendly owners
Quiet and nice pool (with turtles!)
very good overall. swimming pool with turtles, nice breakfast and dinner with a bar. very close to sea
Swimming Pool and location of the hotel The room was dense and the bed was extremely hard
The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The facitlities were great and the breakfasts and evening meals were excellent.
Well located for kitesurfing!
We found the staff and owners of this Riad to be most helpfull, friendly and welcoming. The facillities were good and the location close to the beach and within easy walk of the old town excellent. This small family run hotel offers a calm and relaxing experience. The only area of comment would be we found the beds to be "firmer" as in hard, when compared with those found in European hotels, but probably this reflects the very "local" nature of the hotel.
The staff were extremely friendly, and we went with our 20 month old child and couldn't have picked a better place for that. Very child friendly. Also very relaxed atmosphere, especially in the evening when enjoying a nice meal and lovely Moroccan wine. These are very minor points compared with the overal excellence. Breakfast was good but a bit carb based, and the pool was colder than ideal.
A very nice Riad with a beautifully laid out reception area. Central staircase, plants, paintings etc. Very large rooms that were clean & well kept. The pool was a decent size & all the more interesting because of the resident two turtles & eight or so tortoises that patrolled the surrounding area. Adequate breakfasts (continental) although slightly heavy on the bread side! The riad is about a 15-20 minute stroll along the sea front to the medina. Very pleasant as this allows your dinner to settle on the return plus you have a quiet night. A lovely place to stay! The water supply to the shower was patchy in late afternoon but having said that new water tanks were installed while we were there. The approach road/alley to the Riad leaves something to be desired but then again that's Morocco for you!
Stayed in Riad Zahra for a week last week! Couldnt fault this place at all! Was amazing! Welcomed by friedndly staff members, who were extremely helpful and also spoke good english! Riad was at the end of the beach, about a 20 minute walk from the medina, which we found very nice in the evening to walk off diner and a nice break from being in the busy medina! Room was very comfy, breakfast in the morning was good, continental - bread, pain au chocolate, fresh orange and coffee!! Swimming pool was much appreciated a nice break from the midday sun! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting!! No!
