We stayed here for a night splurge to end our trip in Vietnam and it was well worth it. Not cheap (certainly by Vietnamese standards) but very, very comfortable. Everything you'd expect from a high-end hotel.
Luxury rooms, pleasant bar and swimming pool, good fitness centre and spa, attentive staff, helpful staff
it takes you back in time - luxurious. they charge $5 USD to use the internet and $1USD to photocopy a page - for a hotel of this standard these should be free.
The hotel decor is attractive; even the new wing feels very traditional. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly.
The service was wonderful, our room (in the old wing) was very romantic and comfortable. Food was lovely and the hotel has an excellent location in the French Quarter. Hanoi is small and it's only a 10 minute walk to the Old Quarter as well. The only thing that was a very small disappointment was that they took our towels away for laundry even though they instruct us to hang them up (which we did) to save on washing for environmental reasons.
Fabulous hotel, I would say the best I have ever stayed in. And though it's expensive for Hanoi, you would pay an awful lot more for a hotel of this quality in another country
The stalfs are very helpfull and the room is really clean Lobby too small and is very noisy when there is lots of people in the lobby
The concept of two hotels in one was wonderful and it was a pleasure to see the ladies in their beautiful Ao Dai traditional dresses. Concierge services were very effecient and the hotel arranged all kinds of transport- rickshaw rides, taxis etc were easily arranged. On my last morning I stopped to eat breakfast at one of the restaurants and ordered pancakes ...and was quite taken aback to see both the poor quality and presentation of a basic breakfast item. The other thing i would like to point out is that a steward named Toh near the pool offered to arrange a car for us to a trip to the nearby villages- he said the hotel was Ok with him doing this service. The driver who drove us to the villages was constantly talking on the cell phone and driving single handedly which made us very uncomfortable. He also didnt know the roads. He was supposed to drop us to the airport the next morning and he didnt show up! I would recommend the hotel discourage their staff from offering such services.
Truely excellent colonial hotel. Service and facilities are superb.
The bed was very comfy The hotel never received my booking via booking.com and this caused me many problems. The staff helped and contacted yourselves but they had no record of my booking despite me having confirmation from your site. Also the shower continually leaked and this was an issue.
Feeling of french colonialism.
The hotel is advertised as being the oldest and fanciest hotel in Hanoi. We splurged and booked a room for one night with a small child. When we arrived, we were told that we would not have a room in the original hotel but would be given a room in the new addition. We needed to pay an extra 60 dollars to stay in the original section. They should make this policy clear to potential guests. We also requested a rollaway bed and they stuck it in the very tight living room, which was about 5 ft wide. The staff at the pool restaurant got our orders wrong--forgot my sons drink, and brought my husband the wrong beer
The hotel has a central location within walking distance of the shopping areas and major attractions. The pool area was nice and the breakfast buffet was the best we had during our trip to Vietnam. Our booking turned out not to include breakfast so when we checked in we had to upgrade to an executive room to get breakfast. It was nice though that the executive room included afternoon tea, snacks, free internet service etc.
Nice rooms, friendly staff End price about 25 percent higher than booking.com offered.
Room was great and the breakfast buffet was wonderful.
Rooms, comfort, serivce and location were all great.
Location was good and only a short walk to various sights of interest.
location is fantastic TV in the room is out of date
Situated very central in walking distance to old town and to the lake. Very organised hotel with a beautiful garden with restaurant next to the opera. Good place to relax after sightseeing.
Large, comfortable room Indifferent staff
The service was mediocre for a 5-star hotel. Almost all 3/4 star hotel that I've been in Asia would beat it hands down... Overpriced for Vietnam.
The hotel stuff are friendly but have some language problem. The rooms have to be fully renovatiaded. They are quite old and bath rooms are not good enough.
Food was really good in all restaurants. Facilities are old
I stayed in a Suite, just fantastic Maybe the room service menu card could be more elaborate
The comfort, relaxed ambience and the friendly helpful staff. The food was good too, and lots of choice for breakfast Liked the mixture of Vietnamese and Western style food. No.
Location. It's in the business centre and within walking distances to shops and sites. Service. Staff were more interested in their chitchatting and reading fashion magzines. It's not only myself have the bad experience, other people have said about the same.
I loved the fitness centre and the spa centre. The breakfast was also good The bathroom was small and not very attractive
Bedroom en breakfest very good.
Very polite staff
Friendliest staff ever... They go way beyond their responsibilities to help... the room was next to the elevator and it is beeping constantly... it is not a complaint; i will know which room to book next time.
Great staff, clean rooms, very nice
Room was very clean. My room does not have a bathtub. Breakfast was a little bit poor.
The staff at the front desk, concierge and at breakfast. It does not have a swimming pool. It would be wonderful if this place had a swimmin pool and a hot tub.
room service staff and cleaning staff , the do every thing to make confortable spicaly afternoon bed arrange is good with flower i expected welcome fruit basket as usually most hotel at hanoi , the breakfast is very very bad even the staff no good service speacialy when they start arrange the tabel even before breakfast time is over , and they talk together shouting ( high voice mean ) even I take dinner once but open buffet is very very poor
Luxurious feel Room felt a little humid/damp.
Arrived late and was very tired. Was given a room they knew had non-functioning air conditioner.Vietnam in summer is not place to be without AC. They pretended they didn't know, but the room had evidence of being rejected by other guests. Finally got different room next day. Inexcusable behavior on part of hotel.
Shop. Visit crafts villages. Filled about 6Gig of memory cards with pictures Although friendly, the staff was somewhat unstrained.
Very good hotel indeed, everything is perfect. Location is excellent, the executive room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Staff are very helpful and polite. Breakfast is also excellent. nothing that i can mention
The proximity to the old quarter and the beautiful lake
brilliant location, superb quality, elegant room and staff!
Excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. delicious food and ideal location in old quarter.
The friendliness of the staff, the room (Suite style) was amazingly large for the rate we paid. The free use of laptop in the room was a bonus as we had no cell phone use in Vietnam. The breakfast was superb for both local and western dishes. Its location is in a great part of Hanoi once you get used to the outside noise, and all areas are within walking distance of the hotel. Only i would not book a suite as these are located at the front of the hotel overlooking the street, and the traffic noise takes awhile to get used to, as does the indoor pool but again very handy to have with Hanois hot and humid climate.
Friendly and helpful staff. Size of room - very comfortable. Position of hotel - in heart of old town. Very firm beds took time to get used to.
The position in the middle of everything The electrics on the lamps were a bit dodgy, as was the "balcony" overlooking the swimming pool, unneccesary - I wouldn't let the kids on it
Kindness of people; clean, large and quiet room; central position in Old Quarter
great basic hotel, clean, friendly, good location
The staff is excellent. The hotel's room is very good. I would give more than 3 stars for it. I was in other hotels that have 3 stars and I think that this one is the best one and should get 4 stars compared to them.
Very friendly and helpful staff!!! Price-quality is also very good. Consider it to be one of the few hotel that meet up with all expectations. It was great and the staff made it perfect none
very helpfull staff
I like the location and staff so friendly Nothing
great in middle of old quarter refreshing pool, but unless you need a pool not worth the extra cost
Conifer is very centrally located - literally around the corner from the Hanoi Opera house. My room, although street facing, was reasonably quiet. It was modern and comfortable, a good enough copy of a 5-star hotel room. Service was pleasant and helpful. Overall the hotel is well worth the money.
Located on a quiet street, this brand new hotel is less than 8 mins walk from lake, "old" and "French quarters, with Opera round the corner. The rooms have balcony for having your G&T, and there is a nice outdoor service area by the street. Choose this hotel if you don't need a swimming pool (there is so much to see in Hanoi you probably will not find time to use it anyway). I probably would pick this hotel again - cost is 1/2 of nearby Hilton. Travellers from the US would likely find the rooms too small but not an issue for Europeans. absolutely not
Front desk was great, facility and food was not, to me it's below Hilton Standard, most people stay there are business traveler. The first night we arrived the bed sheet and pillow wasn't change, we could still smell the person that slept there before. if you plan to stay 1 or 2 nights I guess it's OK Everything, except front desk ladies staff, they were very helpful.
Great little hotel with superb and attentive service. Nicely decorated rooms, comfortable beds, small attention such as daily fresh fruits or or pasteries delivered to the rooms. Good selection of breakfast items. Laptop computer in the room with free internet access. LocatED near the old quarters of Hanoi. 15 minutes walk to Hoan Kiem Lake. Night bazar Friday's to Sundays in 5 minutes walking distance. Excellent restaurant with decent prices and tasty food just 300 meters from the Hotel. Ask reception for h4 (Highway 4) as it does not figure on the hotels recommendation list. Nothing of importance, except no English news channel on the tv.
