Pros: Big room with cute garden in back, big fridge & close to venue
Cons: Bath tub & counters in room were very slippery, most likely from shared cleaning/polish rag.
Tub was so slippery I couldn't stand & fell entering, hurt my elbow, knee, foot & head while at international sports tournament.
Manager came up (9:15pm) & after an hour told me there was nothing he could do, then offered me a different room(10:20pm), but refused to assist me in moving to other room even though injuries were too bad to do it alone since there was no bellman & he was only person on property. He informed me no one could fix it until Monday (Sat night was reservation) & to go to desk to fill out report in morning.
In morning when I stopped by desk to fill out paper work after checking into another room at Naniloa hotel next door to take shower & rest, the Pagoda front desk phone was ringing non-stop with calls about water heater not working. They were responded to with a rude "I'll get to it when I can!" in a way that showed very little concern for the guests' needs for morning showers.
I the main reason I got this room was to shower & sleep between a late night & early morning games, I was unable to do both because of pain, loud neighbors, huge bugs & lost hour to have managed do nothing.
Check in was fast
Check out was fast
Hot water is very hot.
Room was spacious.
Cons: Spotty almost non-existent Wi-Fi connection
First room we checked into had not been cleaned, we had to go back to the front to let them know they had checked us into a room that had not been cleaned.
Asked that the person who parked so close to my in-laws come down to move their car, person wasn't a registered guest, front desk did nothing, ignored us until we walked away.
Parking spaces were too small. If you are not at your hotel by 5 p.m all the parking spots will be taken by other people, even if they aren't registered at the hotel, they don't check, so you will be stuck parking on the side of the street.
Not enough outlets to plug in our phones. Other outlet in bathroom was loose and couldn't hold the cord for charge.
Pros: Was the dirtiest filthiest motel I've ever stayed in
The frogs are screaming all night the place is a mess I'll never go back
Pros: Checking in was easy and fast. The staff was friendly!
Cons: The room smelled musky. The carpet was grimy and so was the covers. It made us itch. No coffee maker.
Pros: Air condition
Cons: The service staff was unorganized took one hr to check in..
Cons: The broken toilet seat, the ants coming out of the sink, broken sliding door, hair in the bath tub and the general mold. That was just in the room. The rest of it was run down and not maintained. We should have been paid to stay there
Cons: Old, stinky, falling apart...literally. would not recommend to anyone.
Cons: Well, it is old and dirty, mold every where. I did not get what I booked for. The worst is the coqui frogs killing me. I have to cancelled my second day booking and move to next door. After moving to next door, Ninalao hotel I can really tell the different. Overall, I definitely felt I was over charged for the stay in Uncle Billy. No more there.
Pros: Was very pleased with my stay. Location is steps to Hilo Bay, next to the Queen Lili'uokalani garden right on Banyan Dr. Gregg at the desk was very pleasant and helpful. Slightly older facility, and the tree frogs do quiet down after midnight. Good value.
Pros: Close to the airport, right on the bay, nice staff (average).
Cons: Such a dirty place! Couldn't believe the condition of the bathroom - mold everywhere, nasty stains on the walls, etc. The carpet throughout was probably never shampooed once in the 30+ years this place has been in operation. Being in this hotel was like being in a time machine set for 1979. Several parts of the lounge have been shut down completely. The view from the room was a disgrace. The people who work there are nice enough, but certainly not too busy to add a coat of paint or change the lobby flower arrangements (neither of which have been given consideration for a very long time). The room was terribly overpriced, and from the photos I had expected more. I'm so glad we only booked for one night!
Pros: Beds were comfortable.
Cons: The place was outdated and dirty. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months.
We spent over a $100 for the night and the place was old and dirty. For this cost I would expect a more updated and certainly clean hotel room.
The breakfast had muffins, toast and coffee. Not really much of a breakfast.
The attached store offered few options for food as they were out of quite a few things.
The frogs are a serious concern even with ear plugs.
