Nice location in the center of the city. Looks like a little bit old (old-fashioned hotel), which did not have rennovations for quite a while. At the same time, everything is quite standard, the room is big and it is an ideal place for a business visit.
Clean, quiet room. Nice breakfast buffet. Slow check-in but it was at a peak time.
Hotel staff not very helpful with the exception of one lady with glasses. I think it was because she had very good english. The hotel needs to be refurbished, very dated. Musty smell in room when we arrived.
Very spacious room, with a sofa in the corner which was cozy for reading (I came to Kassel to work in the archives). Good location for central Kassel. There was a lot of noise from the kitchen 2 nights in a row, although I got out of bed the one night to ask the man to be quiet. As they only serve breakfast, it was a puzzle to me why there needed to be much fuss in the kitchen, anyway, but in any case they should keep the noise down. You can hear the trams, too, though this didn't disturb me so much.
The rooms are spacious and very clean. The bar area is not very comfortable and the range of drinks available not very good.
The hotel is a star of 50's architecture, and contains a wonderful japanese lacquer style artwork, but makes a somewhat impression of ' glory lost'. Alas the rooms are converted away from that, and make a budget- class style impression, very sorry to see that Breakfast very expensive for what you get, eur 12,50 for a eur 7,00 value. coffee milk was off, so no coffee for me, although this must be an incident only
Pleasant, helpful staff. Excellent location for visiting Documenta.
