5 minute walk to Puerto Del Sol (Kilometer 0) and Plaza Mayor in Madrid. Many shops and restaurants nearby. Staff very helpful. A little tough to get to if you are driving your own car. As is often the case in Madrid, it is off a side, side, side street so more conducive to walking than driving in an out. Would have preferred a second bed in the room vs. a rollaway for our adult son, although it worked out okay.
Staff was very helpful (and most spoke english), quick response to requests (towels, room service), very good location near Callao metro stop Bathroom was cramped, you could smell cigarette smoke when running the ac
I like its location ,near to metro stations (Callao and Sol) and well deserved . Also, breakfast buffet tasteful and good service . The room was confortable and space of its bathroom nicely shaped . This hotel is quite silence . Staff working at the Front Desk (ridiculous space !) lack of professional skills. Indeed , a no smart people . Also, at the first day of my stay (6 nights) , and in spite of my previous on line booking, they gve me a room without windows in the 1st floor .Smaller and noisy which standart can be compared with a one star in Eurpean hotel.
The location is superb! In the city centre, next to the shopping streets, the city discos and with a choice of 3 metro stations. Good value for money too! The breakfast room on the 6th floor has one of the best views of the city. Our room saw the inner court since we had to chose between a double bed or a nice view....but that was ok actually, quiet and neat. The one and only elevator is sometimes too slow but the hotel is a restaured old building with a long history. Absolutely worth the experience!
Their elevator is so unique! Very clean, amazing location for the money. Staff was really nice and helpful
Location and access to points of interest.
The central location of the hotel near Pl.Mayor, Puerta del Sol
Well-located hotel. We had a top floor room that had a balcony that overlooke a monestery with its beautiful ancient tile roofs. No place to set up one, much less two, suitcases.
The location was perfect, the Jr. Suite offered plenty of room, the balcony was quite nice. The majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean. 1 room the A/C and the hair dryer weren't working properly and that was never resolved. The parking was very expensive. Need to vacuum under the beds.
Beautiful hotel, facing nice old square. Check-in took 30 sec. Comfortable and charming: old-fashioned elevator, bell epoque decor... Bathroom big, new and clean. my room on second floor had a vague smoking smell, I had to open a window while out for a dinner
Breakfast too expensive
We stayed at the hotel 4 days and what we liked most was it centric location, within walking distance to everything in old Madrid, and close to bus an metro stops. Plaza San Martin is at the very heart of the city and very close (5 minutes walking) to such city highlights as Plaza mayor, La Opera, Palacio Real, Gran Via, etc. Corte Ingles (the department store) is just around the corner, and also there is parking available (although pricey, $28 euros per 24 hours) just outside the hotel (parking belongs to Corte Ingles). If you have a car, do not park on the city streets as they are "residents only" parking. Breakfast is not included, and if you chose to eat at the hotel, it is pricey. Just walk to any of the coffee shops close to the hotel and have a good continental breakfast at very low price (2-5 euros).
Overpriced - offering poor value for money. I wouldn't stay here again. I also booked a Double/Twin room and received a single room.
Great location, helpful staff, clean and fresh rooms, brilliant bathroom, free mini-bar, welcoming chocolates and cava and Madrid is a brilliant city. Can we move in for good?
The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. they really made our trip a pleasure. Small things like extra chocs in the room (unexpected) also made a real difference. Excellent location.
Everything. The hotel was in immaculate condition. Its very central and loved the shutters to keep the city noise out.
The staff was very pleasant and accomodated our need for a triple based on a simple e-mail. Although the room had no ash trays, it had cleary been smoked in. The wood floors help with reduction of smoke but the pillows and mattresses retain the odor.
I researched hotels for days to get the perfect hotel and the Preciados was perfect. The rooms are small but that is true of most hotels in Europe. The staff were great, the room clean, beds comfortable, the minibar was a great value. It's Proximity to the center was perfect for everything. I read the review "the rooms weren't as nice as they looked in the picture", that review made me nervous, but the rooms were nicer than the picture in my opinion. It was quite. I would deinitely stay there again. We went with my 2 older teenagers and my younger daughter. It was perfect... nothing
Great location. Large, clean rooms. Daniel, our waiter and new friend, was outstanding in the sidewalk café and bar. Incredibly friendly and entertaining. The rest of the world needs to take a lesson on how to pour a drink. Not much. We did have to pull up on the "sidewalk" road, in front of the hotel, to have them take the car to park. However, this is quite common when staying in the larger cities in Spain.
The hotel was in a walking distance to most major touristy locations. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it is an old hotel, and rooms are somewhat small, latest renovations in rooms are impressive. Breakfast was not included, which allowed us to eat in a nice place across the street. It saved us from overeating and overspending:)) but if you don't mind 17 euro for breakfast - food selection there is great. Many Cab drivers in Madrid are not honest. Hotel staff got us an amazing reliable driver, who we used throughout our stay. (Her name is Beatriz. She only speaks Spanish. But she is punctual and honest and very pleasant - ph.662-272-407) . Keep in mind the temperature cannot be controlled from your room (at least in our room we couldn't). Simple call to the front desk, and it was adjusted to our comfort level. Only 2 small suggestions- I wish a gym in the hotel had water and towels. And I wish the hotel used different type of air freshener - automatic sprays, or diffusers. The one they use, that plugs into electric outlet, is doing more harm than good - it produced very unpleasant (for me and my family) smell.
Staff service I feel that the breakfast buffet was good but understaffed. You would the folks there running around and quarreling with each other due to amount of work and alignment.
The room was a nice size, the bed was comfortable and the free wet bar came in handy. Beautiful decor and loved the double window/terraces...made the room feel romantic, bright and quaint.
Free Wireless connection, free minibar, clean and well equipped room. Quite location of the room
Steps from mercado San Miguel, plaza mayor, night life, Puerta del Sol, museums, the location could not have been better! The staff was extremely friendly, the breakfast had a great variety, and for the cost could not be beat! The shower was awesome, remodeled! We will be returning there at the end of our trip because we enjoyed the hotel and location so much! Rooms were small
Modern hotel in the heart of Madrid. Friendly staff. Walking distance to everything. Great breakfast buffet.
Location, location, location & fancy bathroom Heavily stained carpet
location was very centric they advertise that they have parking and they do not. Staff was friendly but did not go above and beyond compared to other hotels during this trip.
We stayed at this hotel for the fourth time, which speaks for itself. We recommended this hotel to our friends and again they were absolutely satisfied. Would we stay at the Petit Palace Mayor Plaza again? Surely!
location...laptop in the room & the free internet.
the best was the location of the hotel the horrible smell in the bathroom, real problem of drains in the hotel made the stay in the room not confortable
petit palace is a great location for cental madrid , great shops and restaurants within minutes walk , awful smell of drains in room 8 , needs better windows , can hear people and traffic outside window
The hotel was very clean we had a huge balcony with a great view. The location is amazing it is located in the center of Madrid . There is a delicious market located directly across from the hotel . The staff was extremely helpful . If I come back to Madrid I would definitely stay here again !!!
The staff at the hotel is fantastic. The location is wonderful and everything was very clean The room is very small but when your out it doesn't matter
Excellent location. Modern hotel.
Location was the only strength of this hotel. The carpets were dirty. There were just enough room for 4 adults. We stayed in a Petit Palace in Barcelona and the room were really spacious and decided to book with the same chain. But this one was way below expectations.
location, design, new Lack internet connection (?)
This was a really well situated Hotel in the middle of Madrid and next to Metro Station Callao. Very nice rooms. At the moment, no English TV chanels.
friendly, helpful staff. very clean and well furnished room. great location for all interests. relaxed athmosphere.
the breakfast was very good in fact i would say it was excellent no it was very central
the cleaning staff are polite & work well- the bar service is outstanding, the receptionist was sweet but no sense of direction, I didnt like the fact that the lighting for the room and the bathroom were together on one switch- so going to the bathroom at night is either in the dark or waking your partner up when the lights go on...then something tiny- the stairs from to the sidewalk are slippery & the double doors for the entrance are slow...
Good location Nothing
great location, near the metro and puerto del sol. At least one of the staff can speak english
good position near the metro and the most interesting place. the only bad thing was the water coming out from the bath and shower.
Clean and great part of the city Food was not offered later at night
I loved the central location of the hotel and yet it was very quiet and peaceful.
The staff was excellent! They ran out of white wine at the hotel bar!
central location and efficient rectification of fault with bath / shower, also 24hr reception did not get 4.15am wake up call requested on day of departure
The location is really convinient, a few mins walk to the Palace, Plaza de la Sol, Gran Via and Plaza Mayor. The room is really small, some staffs are not too good in English.
View from bedroom window down into Plaza san Isabel & across to Opera. ~Two minutes from main metro. Good choice of restaruants nearby. Central Shower instead of bath. Little room in bedroom. Inadequate bedside table (no drawer to put small things in. Slippery, dangerous shower cubicle.Shower kept slipping sideways on wall.
Good location for major attractions and very friendly and helpful staff.
cleanliness the club outside the window and the noise it generated in the early hours of the morning1
We were staying in Opera hotel for 12 days! The location is very central, Excellent staff, friendly and helpful. room was well equipped and clean. Good beds.Great hotel, We enjoyed every single minute in Madrid. Very modern hotel . The ideal spot to discover Madrid. We like the style of the hotel from insideGood central location, Excellent staff, managed humanly by the professional and kindly Jefe de Recepcion, Mr. Daniel Carus von der Ehe. best regards from ema and shmuel.
Friendly reception staff. Rooms warm and welcoming Pillows could have been better quality
A totally pleasing experience.
Bitte schreiben Sie mindestens 15 Wörter Absolutely no parking, not even for quick check-in and baggage drop off.
Location was excellent - a two minute walk to the Palace and Cathedral and a few more minutes to Plaza de Espana and Gran Via. I would absolutely stay here again when I'm back in Madrid. Staff was very nice and helpful. Oh, free wifi and a large safe in the room were nice to have. Only complaint was that the room was dusty in certain areas.
I liked the location of Hotel Opera most of all! It was great, almost next to the royal palace!
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. The sliding door on the bathroom didn't leave much room for privacy.
I liked the quaint retro feel and the ease of access to so many great spots in Madrid!
Location was the only good thing. Undergoing refurbishment which is badly required. No internet, no bar, lift does not cover all floors, no tea, coffee making facilities in room.
Excellent value for a very good room.
Location, friendliness of staff, 24 hour reception. It was a two star hotel so I didn't expect the earth. It was fine for what I paid, no real complaints - just minor things like lack of English language TV channels or complimentary shampoo.
Great location and staff, and a pretty good breakfast. The hotel is really cute.
The location The fact that on internet there are beautiful renovated rooms and then the offer is always for the shitty rooms they have left... so it´s a shame.
central situation room was very old.did not seem to be clean.waiting for renovation,as other rooms were done already
The location is excellent! Right near the heart of Madrid. The staff are rude, abnoxious, self centered and about as helpful as an ash tray on a Ducati....
Helpful people at the reseption, God location. Bad smel i my room. The price was to high comparet with the standard of the hotel.
The location was excellent. It's right next to the opera which gives you a landmark to find it easily. I don't speak Spanish well so that was very helpful. The staff is Was able to book all my tours and was able to help me with all my questions . My room had two twin beds. It really is too small for two people. They should make it just a single. I ended up using the other bed is a desk. Also it was a little dusty but overall clean. I also asked them to refill the refrigerator but they forgot to which in the end worked out. There's a supermarket right across the street. I was able to buy water and juice there and stored in the refrigerator. I thought they had a gym. But actually it's in their sister hotel around the corner which isn't too far since it's a short walk over, but the machines were not that great.
great location, and liked the funky style of hotel it was a tad noisy, but bearable.
Conveniently situated. Small size. Quality rather superficial. Breakfast quite poor, hot food not very hot, ran out of certain items. Graffiti on bedroom walls not properly cleaned off. Little things like poor lighting, toiletries impossible to open, no room service.
nothing in particular shower blocked
Cleanliness Very small cramped room for two people
very friendly staff at the reception contrary to that mentioned on its website, our room was far from soundproof.
The hotel is very convenientlyu located in the heart of the city. The Hotel has a very nice environment. Hotel was no able to help with an extra bed despite of requesting in on my reservation from and subsequent mails to the reservation department. Staff just did the minimum required to serve customers
Fantastic location close to lots of city sights, comfortable, good value for money. Thin walls as you could hear the people in reception but overall great hotel.
A quiet hotel that is very centrally located. I plan to return. The Internet did not work well.
The Hostal is very clean, very near to downtown and everything there is almost new! Just the noise... But that area is a little bit noisy.
staff went out of their way to help me.
The Hotel is installed around the Plaza del Sol. Front of to Opera Metro Station. Very good localization ! Too much noise in rooms.
Nice position, very clean
Nice and comfortable hostal with very friendly staff A bit too loud in the rooms
i like the location. no english speaking assistant
The location is more convenient than expected. Though the room and the bath booth are really small, but they are very clean and tidy in gerenal. It´s a good choice if u dun wanna spend much on the hotel, but still want privacy and a private bathroom (need something more than a youth hostel). But there should be more english speaking staff, at least a receptionist. location and cleaniness
Excellent location, very clean and well priced. Lack of English by hotel staff, apart from one cleaner they spoke no English.
Staff is very friendly and helpfull Two separate beds instead of one...
The Location of the hotel was fantastic Tea & coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice especially as it had a kitchen but there was no use for it. Also a hotel bar would have been handy as we couldn't go out much due to Ryan Air loosing our luggage.
The weather forecast on the bed. The reasonily priced minibar. The nice toileteries. The very tasty breakfast buffet till noon. The excellent location.
very central but noisy no bar facilities i.e.lounge bar to meet other guests and although the continental breakfast was lovely would have been nice to have something cooked as an aoption
Staff were helpful and a green apple a day was a nice touch. Staff accidentally asked to sign out for the wrong room but it was sorted out after several days.
Personnel very helpful; 24 hrs. Breakfast food excelllent & area well decorated. Room & shower a bit small; considering my husband is 6f 3 and 250 pds
Excellent location, friendly staff, tasty breakfast
excellent staff, nicely appointed room, outstanding breakfast, great location outside noise
staff, location, design Our room was on the highest floor and we didn't have a normal window, only roof one. That was not comfortable for me. Also the room was rather small, but as far as I understood from the floor plan it was the smallest one on the floor.. So maybe you'll be more lucky with the room ;)
Very central,.very modern, relaxed atmosphere ,& breakfast included We were given an upgrade to a duplex which had the bedroom upstairs the stairs were very steep & as we are in our 60its it was unsutable we exchanged with no problems The kitchen had no eqipment at all but again we were provided with basic utensils on request
the central location and cleanliness of room. the ensuite was very small.
Very good location and cleaning. internet free. good design. Small bathroom.
Design. Very small room, cleaning.
The hotel is in the middle of the center. We didn't stay in JC Rooms Puerta Del Sol because the toilet was broken. We staid in the other JC Rooms in town. It was a really good option. The internet was broken.
The location is great in the very center of Madrid. The room is too small. The window is so small that it's like there wasn't any.The bathroom is even smaller.
good location very little space
This hotel was fabulous. It would have to go down as the best hotel we stayed at in Europe. The decor was funky and modern, it was ultra comfortable, the rooms were comfortable, funky and quiet, the hotel's location was excellent...I can't rave on enough about Room Mate Mario!
Desk staff were exceptionally helpful - for example in obtaining opera tickets which were not generally available, and made helpful and accurate restaurant recommendations. Decore was interesting, provision of breakfast generous. Corridors were noisy at times.
contemporary design, lovely breakfast with lots of choice, free internet access I would highly recommend this hotel but be careful of pick pockets in the centre of Madrid - warnings in many of the city centre restaurants.
Location, facilities, ambiance My wife was ill for three days. The staff treated her like family, nothing was too much trouble, and always with a smile. Excellent!!!!!
Very nice design, very central location... ... but they forgot one fundamental: soundproofing! I was literally in my neighbour's shower at 1am, I could hear him brush his teeth, and also go to the toilets (and you definitely don't want to hear your neighbour go to the toilets at 1am...) This is really insufficient - they should have spent a little less on the design and a bit more to improve the thickness of the walls.
Location, stylish design and breakfast area Nothing
Great service and very friendly staff. The rooms, although a bit small, were quite special and clean. The breakfast buffet is great. Very good value for your money!
good size rooms with original design, very good location!!!!
The location, the breakfast included, the concept of thr hotel Everything was great
We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel location is fantastic right in the middle of the city. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Clean and cosy. The size of the room was very small, but if your are looking only for a place to sleep and have a shower, the hotel is perfect.
The location was amazing The room was very small
Excellent location, at the very heart of Madrid! Cleanliness and comfort for a rather affordable price. Friendly staff, decent rooms, great restaurants nearby. I can't stress enough how well-situated this hotel is, the location is practically ideal for anyone willing to make the best of a city-break in Madrid!
Avoid rooms near reception - a lot of nise in the night
the room was lovely and big and extremely comfortable. We asked for a room away from reception and with a window and we got this! very friendly staff and a fantastice location. Extremely clean with good security.
the staff was friendly, i needed to extend my stay after a few days and there were no more single rooms available but at the last minute somone cancelled after i had already moved to a double room and they moved me back and kept checking on me to make sure everything was ok. For some reason I couldn't connect to their wifi. My macbook could connect to their router but for some reason I was never able to get on the net. the did however have really new PCs.
Cosy atmosphere, location, cleanliness.
Owner of the hostel was very very rude!!!
Very central location. Easy to reach from airport by metro. Very clean. Small rooms
The overall impression - very good! After I had made the reservation, I wrote an email to hostal with a couple of questions and was surprised that I got an answer almost straight away, even though it was close to midnight. When I arrived, I had quite a heavy luggage, so I was happy the hostal was really close to the Metro station Opera and it had an elevator. The receptionist was very friendly - even though I arrived around 02:00 at night, she had been expecting me, was very helpful, guided me to my room. I was very thirsty and asked if there was something to drink in my room, since it was late and the shops were closed too, and I got a couple of bottles of water from her. I felt very welcome! The room was quite small, could have been a bit bigger, but otherwise was really OK.
Facilities and location (with the exception of no self catering facility) The staff did not speak a word of english when we arrived and were very unclear on payment meaning I misunderstoon what I was paying for and ended up with an overdrawn bank account as the staff did not understand we wanted to pay the final amount in cash. Following on from this were very unapologetic and unhelpful when finally and english speaking member of staff realised what had happened. The money was put back into my account but I felt very uneasy and this cost me alot of money in bank charges and exchange rate differences.
A very centrally located hotel. Easy to find. Nice clean rooms. Friendly staff. Cheap price.
The price is definitely right. The location is fantastic, extremely central right next to the Plaza Mayor. Standards of cleanliness are satisfactory. Everything is extremely spartan. Your room has a bed, some small mirrors, a small night desk, and an ancient television (we didn't try it out), as well as a small fan. That's it. Facilities have showers but no towels (not even paper ones for drying your hands). Despite satisfactory cleanliness overall, there is a small family of cockroaches that share the rooms with you. The walls are relatively thin and all floors are wooden, so things can get pretty noisy at night, depending on your luck with regards to your neighbours. Take care using cash machines in the area! My bank account got cleared out by a fraudulent device in one of the machines :(
Easy access to tourist sites and restaurants. Friendly staff, Very clean, particularly in shared bathroom facilities. Allowed us to leave suitcase after check out. A clean low budget, absolutely no frills hotel for active tourists who need a comfortable bed and nothing more. .
The location was excellent, the rooms were large and the bathrooms were clean, and the beds were really comfortable! No negatives.
The location is perfect, just 2 minutes walking distance to Plaza Mayor. All the other main atractions are also really close. The hostel hace nice simple rooms with new furniture wich are very clean.
All what this hotel has is that it is near the center, but anything else is just not worth staying. It is in front of a market and all night long garbage trucks are moving big trach cans full of empty glass bottles and you can imagine the noise it makes, and that stayed all night long. in teh room the tv is not working even if you have the remote control which does not really serve for something. It was freezing the night we were there and the heater is not even existing !! Ugly night and left very early the next morning No
the service and the personnel are indeed very nice and friendly, bathrooms always clean, location in the very centre of Madrid :) too noisy - "paper walls"; I would recomend to use for future kind of information/note in the corridor i.e. "Please note, that someone can be sleeping behind this door. Please, try to move silently in the corridor and bathrooms" :)
price and excelent location, repeat: excelent location room very little, no air conditioned, the hostal was under reparations, so many tool inside
