The location is excellent, just opposite to the train station. Room is very small but has been designed to include all the necessary facilities. Plenty of power sockets for laptop, mobile, etc. Wifi was free, reliable and of reasonable speed. Ample provision of tea and coffee in the room. Friendly staff and a good system for luggage storage in the hotel lobby. Noise insulation isn't that good as I could hear people speaking in the other room, etc. The stool for the work desk was not suitable for me to do much work as it was tiring without a back support. Occasionally, housekeeping wasn't to the standard required as I found the same pillowcases with my hair on it, carpet was not hoovered, etc.
The rooms were so comfortable which was great after spending a long time travelling. And the location was perfect.
Distance to terminal 3
Slow checkin. Cost of car park seemed excessive charge. Comfort.
Excellent facilities. Good, interested and helpful staff Good quality meals at reasonable cost
Had a very nice meal
Quietness even though close to airport. Spacious, comfortable room and good food available.
A great place to stay if you're flying in late in the evening or flying out early in the morning. Only a few hundred metres away from the terminals and the railway station. The service was a bit impersonal. Then again, I guess you shouldn't expect much if you're only staying for one short night.
location unsatisfactory bed factory eating set up
staff R OK it is not clear about when parking is on or off site
I disliked paying for the parking
Clean quiet beautiful room. Friendly efficient staff .. Best night of sleep in my entire journey
This was the perfect place to stay the night before my flight. Comfortable, clean hotel with perfect airport location.
The service was excellent. We were aided a number of times by Dean, part of your staff. It seemed to need a fresh look. Floors and carpets looked used and old.
The location to the train station The steam room was broken
Hotel is just a few minutes away by foot from terminal 1 and the railway startion via a covered walkway Irritating that the batteries on the TV remote control were flat and the TV itself was perched on top of the wardrobe, no programme guide available.
location room was a bit tired
Arrived by train straight into hotel, stayed overnight and then straight into airport for flight. So easy, comfortable and convenient. Nothing
Convenience to the airport terminals and the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Car parking was awkward and the prices in the restaurant and bar were very high. We arrived late and there was nothing reasonably priced to eat.
Restaurant excellent Check-out slow
Liked the style of the hotel. Would love to stay there again Money permitting
no hot water in shower
Great service, stylish, interesting history
Staff were exceptional, service excellent. Standard of toiletries in a five star hotel was not as good as I expected.Shower was not great.
The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was first class.
Clean, comfortable and convenient
We were made very welcome during our stay and nothing was too much trouble. -
Modern "boutique" feel to decor & rooms. Central location. Decent leisure facilities. Buffet breakfast was a bit old-fashioned and not in keeping with quality of hotel.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was fantastic with everything we needed
The staff were extremly polite and courteous, not always the case in such hotels, unfortunatly.
the hotel was lovely and the room very comfortable with lovely facilities we were on room only as that was the special rate we got but we didn't have breakfast as it was far too expensive
cleanliness, attentiveness of staff when required, decor, closeness for requirements of city shops and arena for concert pool change area is small, there was a hen party there for the day getting treatments in the spa and there were no lockers available so we had to take everything into the pool area! Lifts were a problem- a number of us (guests) had encoutered room cards that didn't work in lifts- my mother who I was travelling with hates lifts and we got stuck!
The room was very impressive and comfortable. Also, there was a lot on offer for breakfast.
The staff were quietly efficient and helpful. Found traffic noise a little overbearing. Booking my meal on line proved not to be value for money as our meal was less that that stated on line, but we still had to pay original price.
the building and public areas and the function i attended at the hotel 2 days before my stay i received a call from the hotel cancelling my reservation for myself and my 6 guests due to overbooking. after a lot of difficult conversations my reservation was reinstated the next day. This is completely unnaceptable and caused a lot of concern
Luxurious room, furnishings and curtains etc.
the fact west ham won at old trafford ! jokes apart the service and freindly approach of all the staff no
The bar/restuarant Being woke at 3am due to rail works directly outside my bedroom window
This is a stunning building where most of the original features have been retained. The bar and restaurant is funky and modern yet in the most incongruous Victorian environment. Room was very high ceilinged and immaculately furnished and comedy and clean. Downsides were no air con a bit cold and the place is a rabbit warren (though they do give you a map)
Room lovely and spacious. Nice products. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful building. Delicious breakfast.
beautifull building, restaurant and reception very beautifull, good location bad aisles, labyrinth to reach the room, room old fashion
The staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. As we were going to the theatre the location was great. The building itself is amazing - what a beautiful old building...! Breakfast was good and our room was massive. I look forward to staying there again
Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Old fashioned tv. Very few luxuries in the bedroom/bathroom.No shower cap or hair conditioner for my wife. A little disapointed with the breakfast set up in the morning. We normally have one person waiting table but that didnt happen, just people wandering around.
most comfortable bed i have ever slept in! successful fusion of old an new styles.. the sink was blocked and i forgot to tell them - room 203
The lobby had one working lift and looked more like a backstage area. Only one lift worked which took an age to arrive. Annoyingly I was on eighth floor. Air conditioning was also broken in my room. Hotel ignored feeeback email. Wouldn't recommend
Great Restaurant No dislikes
Location and room quality The Bathroom smelt of raw sewage. I have already been in contact with Macdonalds Customer Service about it.
The staff couldn't be more helpful or available. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. And the bedroom was huge with the most amazing bathroom
The hotel was excellent. Great room, great facilities and great staff. The only very small niggle was the slow lift.
The staff were very helpful and the room was excellent. We had to queue for breakfast due to lack of tables ready
The room was big with a large bathroom it was clean.Location was good too short distance o town centre.
Large bedroom and bathroom Bedroom could do with more drawer space
The friendless and helpfulness of the staff and attention to detail. The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing. I particularly like the IPod docking station and the fact that there is a speaker in the bathroom to ensure a relaxing bath! It was easy to travel to men Arena and I can't wait to stay with you again! Thank you The only small thing was that there were a lack of toiletries in the bathroom - 1 small bottle of shampoo and the flanel and my personal flanel was taken from the room on the morning of day 2 and not replaced
Great location, good value for money and I will always return for my Manchester trips Lifts are very temperamental, should be more efficient
We stayed only for one night, specifically to go shopping and have a night in Manchester, so unfortunately we didn't get to use the spa facilities. However, I use my local McDonald hotel for spa and gym purposes, so I know that it would have been good.
The room was comfortable and clean. The Parking was extortionate in price, not that there was any space to park which was ridiculous! Got to the hotel and found out there was a £20 charge for using the spa facilities which were 4 tiny rooms which were not appropriate in terms of temperature as you would expect a steam room or a sauna to be! There was no pool or other spa facilities apart from these 4 rooms for which the price was ridiculous! The lady at the spa reception didnt charge us thankfully as less than 10 mins into the quite dim, squashed and awfully miniature "spa" me and my husband were out of there very disappointed in having paid extortionate prices for the stay and then the parking issue and then on top of that the sadly tarnished expectations of the spa! We left the hotel the same night we checked in without staying at the hotel just flavergasted with the lack of explanation in regards to the facities and staff demeanour and attitude.
A superb building. The room had lovely furniture. We really enjoyed our stay.
the room was amazing the price of swimming costumes was too expensive
I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The Hotel itself is in a wonderful location for shopping.
Friendly professional staff and very comfortable beds.
Beautiful building, with a very grand reception area, good customer service in the bar and bedrooms very clean and comfortable. In the hallways there are pictures/collages of interesting facts about the hotel history. Not very personal (boutique style) more corporate style of hotel.
the receptionist Kirsty was excellent.
ther was noise from the next room after midnight and it took two phone calls to reception before the noise was stopped.
Completely comfoprtable and centrally located. Large room. Prices in Britain are high -- that is a fact of life -- and the Midland is expensive -- but I really am not complaining. It was proably the most comfortable hotel we stayed at in a 3 week visit to the UK.
I have stayed here several times, excellent location, top class facilities. only minor fault is prices in bar, but I guess this has to be expected given the location / hotel
Central location and beautiful christmas decorations Being unable to open a window for health and safety reasons. Air conditioning is noisy, un green and not as good as fresh air at night.
Great location, beautifully renovated old building great Q hotels standard and very welcoming, highly trained staff that gave you service with a smile nothing was too much trouble we certainly were very well looked after during our stay Thankyou hotel did not accept our booking for dinner at £25 rate as advertised by yourselves but after staying there we realised this was probably due to the hotel being very busy that weekend with private functions other than this we had no complaints at all
Clean rooms and courteous staff
The convenience to the station and MEN which is why we chose to stay there, its cleanliness was spot on and the bed and pillows were fantastic
The location of the hotel for concerts in the MEN is excellent. Nice to be able to eat in the hotel late in the evening. Limited menu but what e had was good,
Loved the rooms and the tasty breakfast
Bed and bedding comfortable. Perfect location for a visit to the MEM Arena The catering staff's inability to understand basic english, very difficult to communicate.
Location, and the quietness through the night
Friendly staff, clean hotel, nice room, lovely food.
It was very central for the MEN and for shopping and the leisure facilities were brilliant
Central location and local transport links. Only 2 minutes walk to main shopping area. Breakfast was a bit disorganised. They regularly ran out of items such as bread, butter, marmalade, juices, cereals etc.
Chosen only due to its relative comfort and city position. No redeeming features. Lack of breakfast - given the inflated city room price.
Excellant modern hotel. Friendly staff 1 person dealing with checking out on a sunday morning after a full hotel the night before due to a big concert
Excellent breakfast, nicely designed rooms Rooms weren't as clean as they should have been, Bar staff were very unprofessional
We paid extra to get a hotel with a window, only to turn up and be out in a tiny twin room with no window. The air con in the room had the control panel hanging off the wall and it was unbearably hot. We asked to be moved to a different twin room with a window, which the staff originally told me they wouldn't do. After some complaining at the reception they eventually moved us but the room was now a double instead of a twin which they'd told us it would be at reception. This room had mould on the wall underneath the window and on the ceiling. For the price of the room I expected much better.
The price, location for city centre and railway station Room noisy due to occupant on floor above and thin and creaky bedroom ceiling. Asking for consideration didn't solve problem. Breakfast poor quallity - no muesli or devent fruit lots of fatty bacon, poor coffee - perhaps it just matched discounted room price bracket so dont pay for breakfast and go and eat somewhere else
Excellent location and very originally nice hotel architecture. Gorgeous stairs The hotel overall full scope maintenance is very poor, looking then at Britannia as a big missed opportunity. Ideal target for "Hotel Impossible" next episode
Room was very nice and spacious. Breakfast also very good
Nothing Poor customer service
Polite staff, room was comfortable and clean. Could do with better quality breakfast items. Hotel needs a refurbish. We wanted cocktails but barmaid we couldn't have any
The staff were good people trying to hold it together It's just old and unkept. The owners need to reinvest in the property.
Worst hotel I've ever stayed at
The hotel is well located and the exterior and central staircase are impressive. Staff were helpful though there was a long queue at check in. Room was functional, but clean and everything worked. Wifi in room is limited to 20 minutes unless you pay for the premium wifi. Furniture and décor is a bit dated.
The location The dated feel to the hotel, the lack of light in my room (457) The room smelt fusty, the carpets and walls were stained, the breakfast was of very poor quality. The lifts are not very practical.
The size of the room was excellent and the quiet bar for a drink late on. The bathrooms could do with modernising
Good room facilities, excellent bathroom, good location for shopping Conference facilities pleasant When checked in I was not told where to park in the car park so I ended up paying ncp parking charges Car park a bit lonely and passages to room very quiet and lonely for lone female
The location is excellent for the MEN Arena, Arndale shopping etc.The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Good secure car park. Procedure for collecting car park pass is difficult especially if arriving alone and having to park on double yellow lines. Sleep was disturbed from 4:00 - 5:30 in the morning; initially thought this was guests leaving; however it seemed to be staff talking too loudly with alot of door banging.
Didn't get to stay there as the event we were attending was cancelled very belatedly.
comfort of the rooms and been handy for the shops
a black tie ball was held which we attended for the price we paid breakfast wes not included
Staff friendly. Radio in room was very poor.
It was clean and comfy ,breakfast was very good plenty of choice ,and very handy being right in the centre of Manchester
Hotel site convenience. Pleasant staff. Breakfast.
Ideal location for men and a little shopping, double beds were great.
helpful, friendly staff, lovely rooms, attention to detail in providing extras such as real hairdryer (not the wall type), ironing board/iron in room, iMac integrated entertainment system/pc
Good location, quiet, internet access, rooms had windows (a lot of neighbouring hotels don't!!!!). Staff were efficient and friendly. Room was clean. Nice soaps, etc. Recycled loo paper (I think). Would certainly stay here again- much better than the 2 hotels nearby that I have used before. No bottle-opener in the room, but bottles in the mini-bar mostly had caps! So you lost a sale there. A few signs at street level would have made it easier to find on foot in the dark- I walked round 2 sides of the building before identifying the entrance.
it was close to all amenities in manchester resturant
Very good breakfast if a little expensive Persistance of housekeeping and poor grasp of the english language of same. They kept knocking to service the room when I had said it was fine.
The double tree is a nice hotel at first glance. I found the staff at the front desk were not the most welcoming but that wasn't the biggest problem. The room was comfortable for the most part and me and my companion were looking foward to a nice stay. The shower had two choices, freeze or burn. It was nearly impossible to get the shower at a normal temperature which was a huge issue. But we were only there for 2 nights so decided it would be better to give it another try than moving rooms. On our second night which was a Saturday we were awoken at 4 am by a group of drunk girls that were screaming down the hallway. I felt like I was transported to the worst spring break all inclusive. I called the reception 3 times and in all fairness they came up every time to get those stupid girls to shut up. Then their guy friends came from the party minutes later and started retaliating to help their skanky girlfriends. They were standing outside of our door yelling obscenities. I called again and eventually the noise stopped but at that point I had one more hour before having to get on a train to the airport so my entire night was ruined. While they were definitely responsive to the times I called they should have kicked these people out. What kind of reputation do you want to have? I know that on my next visit to Manchester staying at the double tree and staying at the hatters is pretty much the same. If you want to maintain an upscale reputation then be more selective about who you let stay in you hotel or at the very least have your front staff make the rules clear when these drunken idiots tumble in through the door of your hotel.
Bright, spacious; close to train station and city centre.
Close to train station shops bars staff very good.Bar area very pleansent and I would say not over priced Stayed for 3 nights but on the Sunday morning room did not get made up but saying this soon as it was pointed out room service was called and room made up
closeness to station and city centre, standard of room generally had to ask for more loo roll and no ashtray even though it was a smoking room
Close to the trains. Clean. Excellent staff. Rooms are tiny. Bathroom is like a cruise ship's.
The check-in staff are always friending and the breakfast is quick. The carpets in the room are progressivly getting dirtier with stains, not good! Please have them cleaned, makes me question how clean everything else is.
Apple iMac in room. Free WiFi connection. Booking staff flexible. Breakfast good quality but (see below). Bright modern city centre hotel. Rather characterless. Paying extra for breakfast and even more if you require anything cooked then portions very small. Asked for mushrooms and received a single mushroom.
Friendly reception staff and great location. Food and service in the Dining Room (called City Cafe) is very poor and quite expensive. I booked a late check out for 5 pm and paid £30 for it, from 12 noon housekeeping tried to get into the room 5 times and eventually got security to come up to us. Very stressful and disappointing, it was so much hassle that I left the room early and forgot some of my stuff. I go to Manchester several times a year I will not be booking into this hotel again ( I stayed in this City Inn three times since Mar 2010 the last time in November 2010).
The penthouse appartment was amazing value.
Location, Loverly rooms, everything you need, great secure car park.
The holiday feel from having a room that overlooked the atrium with its palm trees. It was so quiet.
we took our in-laws with us they are in there 70s and the fact they where made up with there en-suite room made the weekend special for us we will definately be staying at the Place again.
Friendly staff and good service, clean rooms, central location
breakfast was good.convenient for the shops/shows/meals etc our room was in need of a re-vamp.it smelt fusty especiall in the lounge, this may have been the suite?. There was no dish cloth or washing up liquid. The breakfast room was too warm. I Ieft a phone charger there and rang to see if had been found but no one returned my call!.
Good location, right next to Picadilly Train Station. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was lovely,
lovely Decor in rooms bathroom was very claustophobic and not very clean
The rooms were very spacious and clean, and the apartment was close to all of the main shops and bar areas.
The convenience of the location and the spaciousness of the apartment
The Cloud Lounge I was rather cold in the room, and we could hear the lift going up and down during the night.
The location is good for city centre bars and restaurants but it is easy to access from the motorway and parking is easy nearby I paid 249 pounds for one night in what I thought would be a luxury, exclusive hotel and it isn't. The room service breakfast was an insult.
The views were spectacular. We could have spent the whole stay in the Cloud 23 bar. And every member of staff that we met were wonderful.
locatio and comfort my partner found on returning home , that some braceletts and bangles were missing from her bag . we did not complain as they were not of a great monetary value , but my [partner found this upsetting !!!! .
It was such a refreshing change to stay at a hotel where the attitude of the staff enhanced the stay. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful which is unfortunately not the case in most hotels.
very good hotel with perfect location specially if you have conference in Manchester Central there is no extending for the check out time
The room we were given was a room for the disabled, guessing that's why the room rate was better than the Hilton's web site price.
We recieved a complimentary upgrade to executive class, which was fantastic as this was a Chritmas treat. Just a small quible but there were no tea making facilities in our room.
when staying at the hotel my boyfriend and i really enjoyed are selfs we went for my birthday and everyone at the hotel treated us like royalty and there nothing they didnt do for us! they made my birthday very special and memerable!! i would definatly recommed it to any one!
Superb hotel, amazing rooms No
Bedrooms gorgeous & food delicious. There was no explanation of the breakfast choices in the hotel room, would have also liked some DVDs available for the DVD player.
Stylish, & an excellent location.
Comfortable bed and pillows.
The staff were exceptionally helpful, very modern hotel with a batchelor pad feel to the rooms! Very convienent for Manchester city centre and shopping areas No Swimming pool in health resort
Very helpful staff, good location, nice room and good value
I liked the hotel room, very spacious, clean and a large bed!
the room was extremelly comfortable and clean
Breakfast was brilliant! N/A
City centre location No valet parking
decor is fantastic, all the staff we encountered were absolutely lovely. This was without doubt one of the best hotel experiences I've had.
Clean, warm and comfortable - a good base for a couple of days visiting Manchester city centre, and the MEN arena. Only concern was that although the water was hot as it came out of the tap, it rapidly cooled in the bath, so a good soak wasn't possible. The shower was excellent. It was very cold whilst we were staying there, but the room was warm enough.
The staff were very helpful, especially the Irish chap (can't recall his name) who assisted us with our bags on arrival. The room was very clean and the presentation was lovely. The side of the wardrobe was broken but other than that everything was perfect.
Good clean room, good room service at reasonable prices. Nice big comfortable bed. Standard room had no bath but was set up for disabled use. Car parking away from the hotel. Long wait at busy times for the lift.
Clean, efficient, good location Thought breakfast was a little expensive
Modern hotel in a brilliant location. Rooms were fantastic and extremely clean.
Clean(always a bonus in my opinion) and modern hotel, would recommend this hotel. Staff friendly and helpful.
We booked the Crowne Plaza on the way down to manchester on the booking.com app, was a great price and everthing was just perfect.
i really enjoyed the bedroom it was very comfartable and i liked the design of the room. it was a good price for the room. it was a little pricey for a pint 5.30 for a pint of perroni.
the rooms are at a excellent standard and compare favourably with five star n/a
The actual rooms we stayed in were luxurious, as regards decoration comfort and the bathroon was lovely as well. The food (breakfasst) was awful!
The location of the hotel was excellent as I was there for a football match at old Trafford. I was very pleased to be offered a view of the old Trafford stadium which I didn't think I would get for the price I paid There wasn't anything major that I didn't like. The shower in the bathroom was overhead however a shower cap was not provided. The bathroom had some wasted space, as I believe the shower area could have been made as a cubicle and the wall opposite could possibly have a longer towel rail. The current towel rail next to the sink is very small for the towels provided, therefore guest may not choose to keep existing towels for longer stays.
The parking facillities/costs
Room v. clean and comfortable, quiet and roomy. Breakfast excellent. Reception was busy and a little slow but staff were friendly.
friendly helpful staff, lovely rooms and very comfortable beds! very central for china town nothing
Perfect location to stroll into the city.
Very friendly reception staff and the beds were great.
Friendly Staff, good location generaly a very nice Hotel Eat Out
The modern interior to a old building. The location of the hotel was perfect, next to China Town. When we got to our room, someone else's luggage was there. However, going to reception thinking we had someone else's room, they took the bags away swiftly.
This hotel is the closest to the Town Hall/Albert Square. Getting there from the train station cannot be easier; the tram stops right in the corner, a few steps away. It is close to everything in downtown Manchester. Very comfortable beds. Very large bathroom. There were many airline employees all the time, so I guess they know it is comfortable and very convenient. Room was odd shape without good views, but it was not bad.
Reasonably good hotel in a good city centre location A little noisy at night, lacks a nice lounge or somewhere really relaxing for a seat a drink and a chat with friends.
the location was very good and within walking distance to the shops and the tram if you need to travel further, staff were helpful and the bar in the hotel was good and lively i felt our room was quite small
The location can't be beat-. Close to shipping, bars and the Christmas markets. Could not have been happier with my choice. As a major plus, the staff was amazingly helpful.
My stay was for 4 nights, Beds were super comfortable, staff was superb and rooms were spacious.
