Impeccable service Immaculate rooms Excellent location between Times Square and Bryant Park Can't complain about anything.
The Knockerbocker was a very nice hotel with a great location. My only complaint was the day that we left, we stored our bags for a few hours. When we came back to pick them up, it took 20 minutes or so to get them. I had to catch a flight. The front desk was unapologetic about it. They just stood at the desk, while customers waited and were dissatisfied. They need to make sure they are staffed properly at a busy time, and if not, other staff should pitch in. It should be a group effort, because it makes the hotel better as a whole.
Great place to stay. Very sheik and hip. Roof Top Bar is out of this world!!!
Once you get past the unprepossessing lobby, the hotel is really excellent. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was large, comfortable and well-appointed. It was bitterly cold so we ate in the hotel, choosing the bar's little plate menu over the Vlentine's Day special menu; each choice was delicious. Large, contemporary bar and restaurant (maybe showing a little wear on the cushions) and excellent service. Location, right on the corner of Times Square, can't be beat if you want to be in the middle of it all. Not cheap, but we weren't on a penny pinching trip. Worth every penny. Special mention to the concierge for fulfilling a couple special requests. As noted, the lobby is decidedly underwhelming although the staff was friendly and helpful. Otherwise, no complaints!
Clean spacious rooms, good service, not great wi-fi
2 queen beds made this hotel perfect for our family of four. Located right on Times Square, the hotel held our bags after checkout while we went across the street to see a Broadway show.
We came for the birth of my first grandchild.the hotel is very modern and sleek. Our room was large and well appointed with all of the modern technological conveniences. The mattress was very comfortable with high thread count linens. The bathroom was large and had more bath accessories than I have ever seen. I.e. Cuff links, tooth brush, paste, etc. I loved the large soaking tub. We never heard any outside noise even though this hotel is located in Times Square From the front desk to the doorman, the service was incredible. Leilani, one of the managers even gave us a gift for the new baby. I would highly recommend this hotel!
The renovation last year really upgraded this NYC classic. Now the interiors are just as lux as the classic facade. Great location in Times Square but quiet and tranquil retreat inside. Great service and really friendly staff. We enjoyed our girls weekend immensely. Avoid if you don't like fighting through crowds at Times Square.
Beautiful space with clean rooms and very good service. We only stayed one night but we look forward to returning.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful.
Everything was perfect
My husband and I were traveling with our 2 adult children and their traveling companions, so we booked 3 rooms. All rooms were spacious and comfortable. Decor was trendy, with high end amenities. We loved the rooftop bar and had a great meal at the attached restaurant. Location was perfect. Overall, a great stay. Some of the furniture in the room was showing some wear. And the desk chair was the only chair in the room. Also, the closet was very small. Not enough space to hang our clothes and coats.
The staff was very helpful and very friendly!
Check in and out the staff were pleasant. Comfortable beds. Too focused on being trendy. Was advertised as a 4-5 star. More like a 3-4 star No coffee makers in room.
Staff was very pleasant and it was simple to extend an additional night. Cost of marketplace!! Noise was easily heard in hallway.
I did like the location and the fast check in. Room service was nice and fast! I did not like that I got a $30 per day upgrade and the room was still real small. Got a view of the side of another. Also, no shuttle to airport. Housekeeping didn't give extra towels at checkin as requested online. Wish I hadn't upgraded!
We were on the 36th floor and most of the elevators were broken during our stay. Was difficult getting to and from our room. We had to use the service elevator many times.
Location was excellent. Lack of options in the neighbourhood for affordable food, unless you wish to tempt fate and eat from a cart of death on the street. Gave us some credit for our hot room. Room was hot, hot, hot. Ac could not keep up. Went down to front desk to ask for assistance. They tried to find a fan but could not( 2:30 am don't blame them). The next day we had to get maintenance up the next day and they found us a fan.
Location Cleanliness Restaurant organization Front desk layout
Very good ambiance in lobby and also bedroom. Very nice experience during entire stay. Closer access to all main attractions & restaurants in NewYork. Value for money in major city. No hotel valet parking so need to find other valet parking nearby.
Great access to grand central station, i.e. don't even have to go outside. Beautiful modern lobby, with dedicated elevators, so short wait times. Nice rooms, modern. Black mildew inside shower curtain. Did not swap out all towels after first evening so had to have face cloths and hand towels delivered. Maids talking in hallway while cleaning rooms early in the morning (my biggest pet peave).
I liked the location, it was perfect. Near to all the main attractions of New York. For a four star hotel, it has no complimentary water or coffee in the room which most hotels got. Not much value for money.
Location Room smelled, they tried to not offer our booked room type. Even after calling and confirming the day of.
This location is awesome!!! Can not beat it! Room was too hot and would not cool Elevators were SLOW - seemed liked only one was working
proximity to train station, snack bar in lobby, restaurant just up from the lobby dirty bathroom floor, poor unkeep in bathroom--sloppy caulking around shower door, built-up crud around shower area, couldn't get into shower without walking directly under shower head. Worst problem was the "modern" touch light switches---couldn't leave a light on in the bathroom to see your way there in the middle of the night. Difficult to use all lights. Dark décor--depressing and dark wallpaper installed poorly--all you noticed were the seams in the wallpaper
The Chatwal fires on all cylinders. Every need is attended to. Expensive, but worthwhile. The bathroom was amazing, but using the shower at full pressure actually caused a bit of a flood. The climate and lighting control is handled by a single touch-screen unit, but its operation is a little complicated. Light-switches shouldn't be confusing.
The decor and availability of room service as well as the location The hotel is very small and cramped. The floor we stayed on had a horrible fried food odor that was overwhelming every day of our stay. I did not feel that the overall quality was representative of a 5-star hotel.
19th Fl room was clean and very quiet, bedding was high-quality. Near (but not too near) Penn Station. Small bedroom, but big bathroom. No closet, just a small cabinet that could not accommodate a business suit, much less an overcoat. Elevators extremely slow.
Great service and nice rooms Nothing
Bed was very comfortable and staff was very courteous. The room had a modern updated bathroom. The room was very small.
The location is PERFECT! Its close to everything yet away from noise and traffic! 5th ave is half a bloch away and time square is a bloch and a half. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. the staff is extreamly warm and accomodating. It is the hotel to stay on if your looking for luxury yet the comfort and warth of your home!
The location was perfect for theatre and shopping and catching the subway. The room was a little small. We had two twin beds and really not much of a view. Concierge (one of 3) was not particularly helpful. Very minimal Christmas decorations in lobby, other hotels much more festive.
This was our first trip to nyc and chose Sofitel by recommendation as well as location and reputation. It was within walking distance to many attractions as well as excellent places to eat. We felt safe yet away from the main hustle and bustle. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom was top class. Thankyou!
The room was large for new york and very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding!! It includes juice, coffee and a basket of bread and pastries. The best pancakes are at Sofitel. It is a short walk to the theatre. No complaints, I will definitely go back to Sofitel
Great location, excellent staff combined with a good restaurant and good decor Wifi Should be free
The room was overall inviting and the bed and pillows especially comfortable. Having to pay an extra fee for internet access, it should be a part of the cost of the room.
The location Not the standart I expected, room to small, air conditioning to noise.
The staff excellent, location perfect comfort first class. Tea & coffee making facilities should be available in the room.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Comfortable bed and nice room. Check-in process was a nightmare. It took more than one hour until my reservation was finally found and confirmed.
Location and cleaniness the other guests where a bit rude
Great location, clean room, staff was very accomodating
Good Location room too small
staff is very kind it is for sure no 5 star hotel. Spa area is nice but 5 chairs at the pool are by far too less for such hotel. Dinner and breakfast was also not 5 star.
Location is good, staff very helpfull. Small size of bedrom and view hotel in construcion.
Location was fantastic. Close to the action but extremely quiet once you get inside. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel lacked a few of the services you typically expect, such as room service, on-site gym and laundry service (although dry cleaning service is available), but this is not a major problem and is justified by the lower room rates compared to the bigger hotels in this area. Would definitely stay here again!
The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. Perfect location and very clean and nice rooms...
The staff is extremely friendly, helpful. They always have a smile – a real, genuine one - on their face. Especially Eric who is concierge of the cassa goes out of his way to make sure you have anything you may need. The beds are extremely comfortable and rooms are nice and quiet – surprising for midtown Manhattan. No need to search anather otel in Times square.
Beautiful property, well thought out rooms, great amenities and attention to detail. They need to iron out a lot of issues - the hotel is super new so they likely will. Room service is expensive, not very good & delivered in cheap take out containers. Very slow internet - borderline unusable if you're a business traveler. Staff nice and polite but very impersonal,
Decor was great, rooms were clean and mini bar was stocked with great snacks at reasonable prices ($2 per soda). Rooms were small but this isn't unheard of for Manhattan.
I'm not one to write travel reviews but I had such an incredible experience here I felt the need to share! Came here for a staycation (roommates, amirite?) slash birthday celebration and our choice could't have been more perfect. In a word, this spot is snazzy. The decor, fixtures and furnishings are reminiscent of the Prohibition/speakeasy era with a modern, chic twist. Just by standing in the lobby you instantly feel a little more immersed in something cool and vibrant. There is a palpable sense of imminent adventure and intrigue here, definitely a boon to kick off your New York City escapade. Inspiration is abundant here! The rooms are immaculately clean, chic and quiet. Bed is ridiculously comfortable and also features hidden storage drawers, so be sure to check under the huge fluffy down comforters they're topped with! There truly aren't enough adjectives to describe just how accommodating and incredible the staff here is. So friendly! Everyone here is a paragon of guest services for competing establishments to emulate. If you're looking for a stylish, urbane backdrop with ubercool yet welcoming vibe to your Gotham City foray, book with confidence at Archer, it is truly a stay to remember! Check out is at 11, not 12. Only downside to this hotel, otherwise it is magnificent.
Staff was courteous and friendly. Room and bath were clean. Goodies were on the nightstand every evening when the bed was turned down. We walked and took the subway to where we wanted to go. All directions were precise. Subway was 2 blocks We would stay here again.
The staff at the front desk was very friendly.
The staff was very friendly and professional. The even remembered us the next day. Evan was wonderful, positive and up beat. Everyone was very helpful, even moved us when our AC was malfunctioning. Rooms were kind of small but then we were in the a limited amount of space as far as the city was concerned.
Clean, elegant rooms, comfortable bed, great shower. Hallway noise came through the door easily.
Simplicity Small room, but it's ok
Although an old hotel, everything was very clean. Poor window isolations, you have to keep the air conditioning on all the time to avoid street noizes. As everything about NYC accomodations, the prices are ridiculously high.
the closeness to Grand central and the faclities of central New York could not be better bathrooms could do with an upgrade but a relatively minor problem
Very close to Grand Central Station and the Metro and also a good location for walking to many of the major attractions.
plenty of room the road works but that's New York
Excellent Location for city break. View from room window.
Large suite but basic and near Grand Central and perfectly adequate for a city trip. Hotel needs a makeover. No double glazing so rooms at front has lots of traffic noise. No blankets in room or spare pillows. Old and tired! We asked concierge about travel detais on the subway and he simply shrugged his shoulders and left us to find out ourselves.
There was hot water and that's literally about the only thing I can think of that I liked about this hotel. If you've stayed at any other Curio hotel and are thinking this will be a similar experience, I've got bad news for you: this is an awful hotel. 1. The room layout is horrible, most of the rooms face the brick wall of an adjacent building (and you can hear their external AC window units running); 2. the AC is tiny and cannot properly cool the rooms (which are VERY tiny by NYC standards); 3. The elevators are slow, bumpy, and small causing you to wait 15 minutes to catch one not full of people and luggage; 4. The room service is not up to any normal standards. They have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in the shower which are empty and surrounded by mold and mildew -- a health nightmare; 5. NOISE: expect to hear anyone cough, sneeze, turn on a lamp, or zip up a bag from an adjacent room or any room on your floor; and 6. Poor bathroom layout -- there is NO room to put anything on the counter in the bathroom. Don't expect to get ready very easily in this hotel as there is no full-length mirror either! This should NEVER received the Curio brand from Hilton. The hotel is by far the biggest disappointment I've ever seen as a Diamond member.
Staff very prompt, room was not as booked but problem was dealt with very quickly. Even though we were on the 16 floor it was still very noisy
Location Bad functioning TV, old TV models. Poor internet wi-fi.
Location beside central station, suite was big and had fridge and coffee maker which is essistial when u have been out shopping all day Could have drinks machine in lobby (bottle water etc)
Friendly clean and fantastic location
The location was great. Walking distance to Grand Central Station. The bathroom was clean and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were friendly and the concierge was somewhat helpful. The first thing I noticed is that the staff were not dressed very neatly. As I struggled with my bags and getting into the lobby the doorman didn't help at all. Then when I got up to my floor I smelled a strange odor, almost like a skunk, and then in my room it smelled like mildew the entire time I was there. I had to spray my cologne all over the room so I wouldn't smell it when I was trying to fall asleep. The blanket on the bed looked dirty like it was covered in dog hair so I didn't even touch that and also everything felt sticky in the room. I also didn't receive a courtesy call to assure everything was ok with the room.
Staff was awesome and very accomodative Free Raid-The-Mini-Bar Card Rooms were tiny (even by NY standards) Hotel felt a bit claustrophobic in general
Location Good deals always have windows against next building with no view
Great Staff, very good location for us. Were always cheerful from the front desk to front door and especially the service people. Would recommend outright with the exception of noise. Had very noisy neighbors next to us. Sound traveled easily through the walls. Traffic noise was also pretty apparent.
Rooms were large (for New York) and comfortable. Bathroom was large. Staff was friendly. Very close to Grand Central Terminal. Quiet at night. Food prices at Silverleaf were not posted and VERY high!
The staff was so nice and went above and beyond to be as helpful as they could. Mario was a wonderful door man that was able to compensate the trouble we had with our door. Chris and Danny helped my mom and I get metro cards so we could use the subway to travel around the city. Danny physically walked us to the train station to show us where to buy the metro cards. We had issues with the door to our room the entire stay, the key card wouldn't work after ten minutes of being programmed.
The staff was excellent. Small bathrooms. Phone system not working properly.
The location is great for anyone coming from Long Island. I really like knowing that Kimpton always welcomes pets. Fire alarm battery needed to be replaced. I ended up taking it out to make the beeping stop. I told the front desk, but they didn't seem bothered. The thermostat was held to the wall with tape. It came loose and the batteries did as well. I don't know if I received awards points or not, but I'm not sure I care. Kimpton wouldn't honor the lower price I found on hotels.com; so, I didn't book the room through them.
Easy to get to fom Laguardia. Room nice, clean , quiet, temperature control worked well, staff efficient and nice. Twenty min walk to Harold Squire, MSG, Penn Station, 5 min to Grand Central. Good value hotel.
The location and friendly staff
Enjoyed comfortable beds, coffe shop and evening wine that was complimentary. Stayed there with wife and two teenage children - bathroom was too small!
Clean, quiet, friendly, accessible to subways and attractions.
On line it said bathrobes but there are none.
Deluxe digs for modest dimes
Fantastic staff that went above and beyond to meet our needs. Turn town service was nice (cookies in the room!). The room was very small, but functional. There was a party going on down the hall that was very loud due to the thin walls. Took 2 hours from the first threat to kick the people out at 3am.
Great room. Great location. Clean and comfortable. No water the next morning with no credits or discounts offered.
Only 1 window in room and it opened to a brick wall. Unable to see daylight. Room was like staying in. Large closet.
When I arrived, I was given a free upgrade to a queen size room. I was prepared, given the other reviews, for a pretty small room, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was more than enough room for just myself, and the bathroom was spacious as well. I also really liked the toiletries (they smelled so good!) and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Turning the shower to "high pressure" resulted in a very wet bathroom floor. I hadn't expected the lip between the shower and the bathroom to be so low! Additionally, I left my bag at the front desk the day I checked out, and I guess someone else's bag leaked something on mine? Or it's stored in the same space as they keep extra toiletries. The stain it left smelled a lot like the toiletries they give out. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it until I got home.
Staff very friendly. good location. Bed was very uncomfortable
Large comfortable room quiet great bathroom and shower great shutters
It was fine... Nothing I would say it was a 4 star. Staff was very friendly and courteous. The cookie at night was good! Room was TINY! Barely enough room for the bed.... And it was only a full bed. Everything was old. Wallpaper was dis colored and peeling, bathroom tile had the corners that looked dirty but were just so old the tiles were worn. The bed was more of a futon than a real mattress.
Super helpful staff Rooms not really set for business -- few plugs, no coffeemaker
Conveniently located,comfortable,pleasant stuff.
staff was outstanding comfortable room, if small great location older building with slow elevators :) small room (but it is Manhattan!)
Accomodations and staff were wonderful. Location is convenient and in an extremely staff area.
The staff was absolutely amazing. Especially Rocky and Jenny. They were friendly and helpful and always with a smile. The rooms are kept well and are comfortable. The hotel is centrally located so most activities are in walking distance. I will stay there again when I go back in a few months. Everything was great!
It was clean and comfortable, beautifully decorated, quiet, friendly and helpful staff, excellent service - from doorman to housekeeping to room service,, conveniently located, cozy lobby and library - in short - a gem of a hotel. Will definitely return!! Absolutely no complaints!
We arrived early and our room was ready. We were able to check into our room early which was very much appreciated after traveling all night on the red eye. The staff was friendly, attentive and the hotel was charming and very clean. Great location to everything. We really enjoyed the Lantern's Keep downstairs.
Our stay at the Iroquois New York was absolutely fabulous. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent service from all the staff. The room was very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect. Vanessa, the concierge, was absolutely amazing; not only did she provide excellent recommendations for restaurants and attractions, but she went the extra mile in assisting us with obtaining a metro card for the subway. We will certainly recommend the Iroquois to our friends and plan to stay here again for our next visit to New York!
Convenient mid town location. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Wifi service. Pleasant and helpful staff. Tiny room with small window looking directly into a brick wall 6 feet away! The room temp was 76 degrees and COULD NOT BE REGULATED. The maintenance engineer came to the room and confirmed the high temp but said there was no way to reduce the high dry heat.
Cosy and comfortable The ventilation in the toilet is noisy.
Location, Location, Location! Great mid-town location, steps away from shops, theaters and landmarks. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable room although very small bathroom. Great restaurant! Small bathroom.
Delightful. Very kind staff, lovely room. Very good value at just over $200 Room seemed a bit humid
Location was excellent. I thought my room was way too small. I was in one of the 02 rooms and it was tiny. never stay in any of the rooms that end with 02. There was a gentleman in the library when I was there speaking on the cell phone complaining that his closet at home was bigger than his room. I asked to change out of my room and they said they were sold out. I will never stay at this hotel again unless I am shown the size of the room first. Otherwise, it was clean, good location and good staff.

It had a large bathtub and separate shower. Ice was not easily accessible
Location and staff No refrigerator or microwave.
Roof Top Bar, location Expensive, small room, mattress made loud noises getting in and out of bed. No room service, no food except after 6PM.
Great location for all city shopping and attractions, staff friendly and helpful. Nice clean room and comfy bed.
The restaurant was nice. The location is good. The room had a nice view over the Empire States but it had too much noise from the street. The complimentary kits of the bathroom was too poor.
the friendly and helpful staff and a very central location we liked it all
The staff were wonderful. Our room was quite nice and more spacious than we expected. Apparently the room had just completed renovation and was approved for occupancy the day before we checked in. The rooftop bar is very attractive, with a fabulous view of the Empire State Building. The renovations that are in progress are a real nuisance. The restaurant and the fitness center are closed for renovations. During the day, and sometimes in the evening, only one of the two elevators is available for guest use. That was very frustrating. More than once we took the stairs, both from and to our 8th floor room, because of the miserable wait for the elevator to arrive.
The proffesional service, the location, the nice bed and the breakfast that was included.
Given the price of hotels in NYC, this is an extremely excellent hotel for the price. Most hotels I have stayed in while in NYC for this price or a little less were nothing more than a room with just enough room for the bed. Not the case here. The room was very large compared to other rooms and very well kept. I will be coming back.
So pleased with this hotel. Great, helpful staff. Great location. Awesome rooftop bar. Bistro bar was comfortable a d food was great. Absolutely no complaints.
Brilliant location. Value given breakfast was included into price. Very friendly and efficient service. Clean and modern rooms. iPod charger in the room. The air conditioning was a little bit noisy. The rooms were a bit warm at night.
The location is not bad--on 37th st between 5th and 6th. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The wifi was good. They had free coffee in the morning. I can not recommend this hotel. There are so many issues. The room was unbelievably tiny with no space for a table, i.e. no place to make or drinnk coffee. The only way to use a computer is to put it on your lap and sit on the bed. There is construction going on everywhere, with noise and dust, and one of the two elevators is out of use for hotel guests. I had a room in the back. It was quiet but had a depressing view of rundown buildings and garbage.
You can ear a lot of noise fron the streat
The strand is in a really great location if you're a first timer to NYC and want to be able to get to a lot of things quickly. Times Square, Empire State, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and the library are all super close, and the subway is right there to get you the rest of the way. Chelsea and the Highline also in walking distance. The room is fine, had everything we needed, was clean, and had a cool-looking shower, though we didn't end up with a view of the empire state building. Whenever the people in the room next door arrived or left, we could hear them like they were inside our room or opening our door. thin walls, I guess. Not a huge deal, just a little startling.
