The hotel has a very nicely decorated interior and decent-sized rooms, especially for the location. Arrived at 3:30 pm and was told that my room was not ready. Had to walk around town for a while until I received their call that my room was ready, which I got at around 5:45 pm. I was only staying one night and I feel slightly ripped off as I was not able to relax and shower before an event I had at 6:30 pm.
Fitness center was nice and the room was clean. No rooms available at 3:00 check in. The desk clerk said he would call when a room is ready but he never called. The maid was the nicest hotel employee. The staff said they have self parking but that is not true, it is just side door valet parking.
Location A little dated and the front desk is a little all over place
Fully recommend this hotel
Fitness facility is great. Some rooms are in need of a little tlc.
Clean, friendly Expensive, not as many amenities as other hotels up the street
Luxurious rooms, great location, right next to Rittenhouse Square. Parc restaurant around the corner is amazing. Hotel was late getting my room ready. Tried to check in at 3, was told a room would be ready in half an hour. They never called to say it was ready, but when I went back to the desk at 5, they had plenty of rooms. Also, asked about complimentary airport shuttle and was told there was one every 30 minutes. Shuttle was on time, but the driver insisted it was not complimentary, charging me $10 when I got to the airport. Didn't have time to argue, but front desk should have been clear when I asked about a "complimentary" shuttle.
The location is great, and overall the hotel Is attractive and well maintained. Most of the staff are excellent, from the front desk to the cleaning staff. They were helpful and courteous. Relative to similar hotels in the area, it's a great value. This stay (our 4th, but first since it's no longer a radisson) we encountered a MAJOR problem at 4am, and with two young children to be displayed in the middle of the night without our belongings was awful. The night staff and cleaning staff were great but the manager on duty was unbelievably awful, as if we inconvenienced her when her shift started at 8 -- 4 hours after we started dealing with the issue. Instead of commiserating with awful circumstances and asking how we could be helped to be comforble, she mostly left us to or own devices to figure out clothing, food, and basics for two little children who'd been up all night, and had to be pressured to provide basic information about a plan for us to be able to leave. Unreal.
Racist white staff.
King sized bed. Way over priced, took forever to get water sent up to our room, parking is expensive too...
Very convenient location. Clean room. Good fitness center. Several other parking options less than a block away for less $ than hotel parking. The front desk staff were not very helpful upon check in and volunteered no information at all. Hotel has no in house lobby bar.
Huge room, comfortable bed This hotel is unsusuccessfully trying to be a luxury hotel, which it does look like. Looks aren't everything though. The way you're treated by the staff is most important in a luxury hotel. This where the Warwick falls flat on its face. The "doormen" never acknowledged us going in or out. When the bellman showed us to our room, we asked where the ice machine was, instead of filling our ice bucket, he showed us where we could get our own ice--pretty classy guy. Now for the maid service: When we showered the first morning, there ware only two hand towels, one of which we had to use as a bath mat. My husband asked one of the maids on our floor for a couple more hand towels. Her reply was that she had none! We had to call housekeeping to ask for extra hand towels and a bath mat. When our room was done that morning, we got a bath mat, but no hand towels. They also failed to replace our coffe, coffee cups and drinking glasses. We were givien an hour extension for check out, but our maid knocked on our door three times to ask when we were checking out. All three times she knocked on the door were before noon! If Radison wants to run this hotel as a high-end hotel, they need to actually train there entire staff how to serve their guests.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia Center City is a class act! From the efficient, friendly check in to check out, we were treated as special guests. The staff actually cared that we had a pleasant, comfortable stay. We asked the staff for recommendations on moderately priced restaurants close-by and were pleased with our choice from their list. Our room was comfortable, quiet, pleasantly decorated and well stocked with adequate amenities. This is our third year staying at the Double Tree for the annual Philadelphia Flower Show and we have never been disappointed.
AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Location was great and rooms were overall quite clean. A little beaten up, but otherwise quaint. Lobby bar and front desk staff were very nice. Someone trying to get into our room in the middle of the night and the cleaning staff thinking 830 am is an okay time to come clean the room.
Parking was easy, front desk staff was polite and helpful - but housekeeping was loud and crass outside of our room in the early hours. Be careful if you are located in room 1602 - the housekeeping staff 'breakroom' is right outside your door. Directions for ice would have been nice - rather than the scavenger hunt I ended up going on.
Clean hotel and great price , good location . Staff was friendly and room was very nice PArking is $28 for one night
Great location, fair pricing, nice rooms for a city hotel. No gift shop, though it is in the middle of a city so you could find things for sale elsewhere.
I think the front desk staff were amazing- it was the quickest chec-in and check-out I've ever experienced. The cookies upon check-in were literally a warm touch. The room was a decent size- with a great view of the city from the eighth floor. The pool hours were until 11pm- which was great because I got in on the late side. There was also a decent gym and a sauna with lockers that you could put a code in and use. The decor in the room was somewhat dated and showing its age. The bathroom was small and it took maneuvering to close the door. If you need absolute quite to sleep it may be a problem because you can hear the traffic from the 8th floor and any hallway activity as well. The cleaning people knocked at 8am to clean- when I was checking out anyway, so I could of done without the disruption.
The hotel was located near many of the downtown attractions and the staff was very friendly. We had a small issue with toilet (didn't flush well - may have been blocked). The people staying next door were load and let their door slam at 2:15 am.
We enjoyed out stay and had a nice room toward the back side of the hotel where street noise was less than rooms facing the front. There was some loud guests at 2am that were not quieting down even when security were engaged.
Right in the heart of downtown Philly. The hotel was centrally located to many attractions and shopping. Also really close to public transit. I was on the 16th floor and I could still hear the traffic noise in my room.
We booked the best suite on the 26th floor for our wedding night. The hotel gave two sets of our room key out so when we went up to sleep at 2am after our wedding, there was someone else's items in our room. They downgraded us to the open room on the 8th floor. I was not given a refund as the manager said it was an equivalent room... It wasn't. :(
The staff was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable of the city. We had a great experience! They must have given our room away before we checked in. Our group of 3 friends got one king bed so we had to use a roll-away cot, which wasn't the most comfortable thing.
The manager took great care of us after she was told about our disappointments. She was wonderful and made our second night much better than the first. Most of the other staff were very friendly and accommodating. The facility is extremely old along with the heating/air conditioning units. Our sheets had a hole in them. Had disappointment with 2 staff members who were a bit rude. Felt the crowd that hung out in the hotel bar and/or were staying at the hotel were a bit trashy. For the price per night, we could stay at the Sofitel or Four Seasons and get better accommodations.
Awesome building champagne at checkin have had many enjoyable and memorable stays. Understaffed, poor service sub par to other Ritz hotels. We were provided with wrong room on arrival. Room was somewhat dated and curtains had large weird stains on them. Carpet in room was also stained making it feel dirty. Restaurant service was horrible / waited 40 mins for a table then waited another 15 mins to get acknowledged by staff. Used express checkout, left some negative comments and asked for emailed updated portfolio via email - never received. I've had better service and value for money in other not so "refined" hotels.
The hotel and staff were extraordinary. i was always greeted upon leaving and entering the hotel. Oftentimes the bellman or concierge would ask if I needed anything. I must have looked a bit lost!!! The situation detailed below needs to be addressed because other than that, the room was most comfortable with a lovely view of City Hall northward Amanda in housekeeping was excellent in refreshing my room and being extra certain there was no detail that was omitted There wasn't anything "I didn't like!" However, The only "hiccup" I experienced was a slight odor of tobacco in. my room at the end of each day. When I notified the front desk they were quick to put a plan in place to remedy the problem. Unfortunately, the odor continued and was probably a function of the odor of the carpet, drapery and bedding.
Staff professionalism King size bed. Clean room. People in the room next door were talking loudly until 2 am! The first night I got absolutely no sleep. It required a cab ride to get to my conference at the Conference Center.
Everything. Service, quality . Towels could be upgraded.
Everything, happy staff, welcoming, clean rooms, awesome views, definitely would recommend this hotel.
Beautiful hotel. Great staff. Poor sound control between rooms. I could easily hear conversations next door.
One of the Best hotels in the city. Beautiful architecture and very nice rooms. High ceilings beautiful city views. Everything u need is right there. Great gym!
Great small hotel! The location is superb. Close to Philadelphia's sites, restaurants, and shopping; but a very quiet side street in the heart of the city. The staff was very helpful, considerate, but not overbearing. The white wine reception was a very nice touch. The only problem was that the room air conditioner was loud.
Breakfasts were fantastic, both selection and the time of availability. The staff were attentive and polite and kept everything well stocked. The location is great for downtown The front desk/lobby could help a bit more with directions, or perhaps a walking map of downtown could be made available for those who don't have cars.
Staff. Horrific city parking garage. Construction going on all day vibrating entire hotel.
Room was very clean. Comfortable bed. Staff was friendly and attentive via phone to front desk. Thin walls. Reception desk was slow as molasses. Possibly understaffed. Check-in on the computer took way too long especially having already provided all my details online. Dried creamer packets for the coffee in room is disgusting.
Close to downtown restaurants and shops. convenient
It was very close to all the historical sites.
Staff were all personable and helpful. Room was appointed nicely. The sound insulation between rooms that share a door is poor.
great location, very clean, friendly staff everything was great-- no complaints!
The woman who coordinated the breakfast area each morning was wonderful. She was always friendly and efficient. (I stayed three nights) The bedding didn't come up far enough --I had to scrunch to the bottom of the bed to get the blanket to my neck. The window was a bit drafty
Great breakfast. Staff was excellent Parking arrangements
Great value and location. Hotel is in good shape. Staff was accomodating and friendly. Breakfast was very decent. They also have a parking garage if you are bringing a car. Rooms need some updating- which they are in the process of doing and they have the new designs displayed on an easel in the lobby- which I thought was a very nice idea.
We were on the 17th foor and the city view was fantastic. Excellent breakfast buffet also.
Convenient location. Comfortable, clean room. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. We will stay here again whenever we return to Philadelphia.
Two things: the manager on duty was way beyond-the-call-of-duty in being helpful with advice about restaurants, etc. The in-room breakfast was good, nice selection. The walls are pretty thin; I listened to some revelry that went on in the next room until after midnight. I know I could have complained, but didn't want to. The instant oatmeal is probably expendable, so we avoided it after the first morning?
Very nice room, great location, easy access to & from room, inexpensive nearby parking, breakfast delivered to room, wine & cheese in evenings. Couple minor things - small shower stall, few things need minor repairs, adjustments - but these did not adversely affect our stay.
entourage, wine and cheese in the evening
The ventilation system was extremely loud. Breakfast included only coffee, bagels and cereals.
Excellent reception staff, who were incredibly helpful when I needed to take a train to an unfamiliar area. Parts of the room could have been a little cleaner, but nothing that wouldn't make me want to stay there again.
Staff very nice and helpful
My wife and I were very favorably impressed with the Independent Hotel. The building itself has historic charm. The setup is a bit eclectic, with a small entryway to the elevator up to the lobby. The rooms are quite spacious and well appointed. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and enthusiastic. In addition, the hotel is near some very fine restaurants and attractions. We walked everywhere. Our visit was terrific. We look forward to coming again and we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.
Every single member of the staff was incredibly solicitous, courteous, and helpful. It overlooks one of Philly's legendary Sistine-like murals and is steps from the main Market St in one direction, and the wonderful antiques / jewelry / historic-homes-on-mews district in the other. One can't open the windows, which is apparently common in many hotels in Philadelphia after an incident with a child falling out, but in New York we have child window guards and I recommend them. It's better for the planet and more pleasant for the customer to have fresh air. What's more, it would save this and other hotels so much money if they didn't have to run the AC all the time! Just sayin'.
Historic city centre, helpful staff, comfortable room and complimentary drinks Noisy fridge
Continental breakfast served in the room at time I choose Great location for walking to restaurants and activities
Erick constantly had a smike on his face our whole experience- He was our bell hop, concierge, breakfast delivery man, and entertainment. He deserves a raise. Our room was beautifully decorated and i felt like i was in my bedroom. Lovely staff and quiet enviornment. The temperature in our room was a bit bi polar- even with our thermostate on 65 it felt like 75. We had cathedral cielings which i am sure caused this- The vents were still blowing cold air.
The room was fantastic, the hotel staff were lovely and there were nice added extras like a complementary wine and cheese evening.
Hotel was clean and well staffed. Room comfortable and hotel a close walk to south street, liberty bell, indepenndence hall and other landmarks Very small hall ways, elevators, and small rooms. Also they only give you a parking discount so you will definitely pay to use the parking garage across the street. The discount is 15 off, but if you park over night its 33 so there is this extra $18 for an overnight stay.
The staff were all super friendly and eager to help. The rooms are small but plenty big enough to sleep and have some walking space. EXCELLENT location. Wonderful restaurants and nightlife steps from the door but not overly noisy. Historic areas were within walking distance. Old City was walkable, but a bit farther than some may be comfortable walking however Uber is available within moments of request. The rooms have had a makeover, not the best quality contractor as some things are coming off the wall but overall the appearance is nice for a budget friendly hotel. No fans and no room air conditioner. The AC/heater is controlled from each hallway. Our room was stifling hot so we walked the two blocks to the Target and picked up a $20 box fan. The front desk girl turned the AC down even more which helped the temperature greatly and our fan kept the air circulation going and dried our hand washed laundry.
The nearness to the center of the city 1. The girl at the reception was not kind, she was always on her personal phone. 2. the elevator was out of order and we were at the third floor. 3. The room was not clean, the light near the bed was out of order as the hairdrier too. 4. They had not cleaned our room the second day even if they came in our room to leave the soap. 5. The breakfast was very poor and the people in the hotel was very very strange (I think they were homeless). 6. The hotel parking was in a public parking but it was full...
Popular attractions are literally only a 15 minute walk away. We went to the observatory, reading terminal market, the constitution center, the ice skating rink at Dilworth park City Hall, and saw the Liberty Bell. All without our car. Parking at the garage across the street is $15 a night, a definite steal. Don't forget to get your voucher stamped by the front desk! The staff was very friendly and eager to make our stay enjoyable. One gentleman at the front desk was kind enough to provide us with free passes to many attractions. The room was clean and comfortable, keurig and water bottles are made available as well. I will definitely be back next time I am in Philadelphia. The one complaint I had about the hotel was that it was often times a bit chilly in the rooms. Our stay was for two nights and each night we had to ask the front desk to raise the heat (which they happily obliged).
Very convenient location and helpful staff. My room had a window without a view; therefore the room did receive direct sunlight. As I didn't visit the city during vacation, this was not a big drawback.
The staff was great. Always very helpful and willing to answer any questions. I didn't know that my room didn't have a bathroom en suite until I checked in and found out my bathroom was in the hall. The bathroom was tiny as was the room. One step from the door to the bed and the desk chair was touching the bed on the far side. Luckily I didn't spend too much time in the room. Also the tv had 2 lines running down the entire screen vertically. There was a bright green line running right down the middle of the screen!
The staff was very friendly! I am not familiar with the area so they were very helpful with directions & suggestions. 1 even flagges down a cab for me since im from a suburban area & not used to the whole public transit thing. The hotel is also directly across from the parking garage which was convenient & the hotel is surrounded by many shops, bars, restaurants, etc. Also not to many blocks from maim attractions like liberty bell & love park. Our room was absolutely freezing & there is no way to control the temperature. The 2nd night we told the front desk who said they can control it from outside the rooms & she would take care of it but our room was still freezing so since it was summer we kept the windows up while we were there in hopes of letting the cool air out & some warm air in. Also when we booked the room it was cheaper then others cuz it said exterior bathroom. We didnt know exactly what it meant so went ahead. Turns out it literally means our hotel room had no bathroom & we had to exit our room & walk a few steps then round a corner to get to a bathroom in view of the whole hallway with other rooms which only our room key opens. It wasnt to bad expect the bathroom is tiny, really only room inside to take 1 step & u have to make sure no1s in the hall & dash back to your room if your in a towel or dont want to be seen for any reaaon. So I do not recommend for the ellderly or children but since my friend & I were not planning to be in the hotel much during our stay it was fine for the price
I liked the fact that it was centrally located to downtown Philly, within walking distance of all the sights The elevator was broken and we had to walk up to the third floor to our room
Hotel was great. Everything we needed at a great price. Location is perfect. Would definitely return. All was well.
The location is excellent and the rooms are comfortable. The service was absolutely horrendous. The people at the front desk made absolutely no effort to greet me.
The check out! When I checked in the front desk clerk said I'd requested a room with a separate bath. I had no ide that was an option . I was checked into a room where I had to leave and use a toilet and shower ateound the corner. I felt as if I was in a closet. I was glad it was a one night stay only. The fight between the two front desk clerks was not entertaining and then to top it off the fire alarm went off.
The front desk staff was very courteous. They answered any questions I had and helped out alot. The price was very affordable. The location was perfect.
