Nice location at the coast, just steps from the beach.
The hotel was close to beach, centre of town and church. Reception staff were most accommodating and friendly. I couldn't eat the salty fish at lunch once.
good location and views. beds not very good.
The public parts of the Hotel were 1st class The room we had was tiny and poorly presented. The guests of the major tour operators got far superior rooms at the same price we paid
Second stay, just as good as before. Room with breakfast great value. Good buffet breakfast, and dinner if required. Nothing negative. Clientele this trip mostly German or Spanish, older, quiet and pleasant: busy but not crowded in early October. Not sure I would want to stay in midsummer, when it is likely to be crowded with families. Location on the beach but out of town, so car really required. Some good restaurants half a mile or so towards the town, and of course in the town itself, but parking more difficult there.
Friendly and efficent staff
The Hotel Playa de la Luz is a beautiful hotel. The location is great for those that love the beach. They do a great job in making guests feel comfortable. The hotel is a great choice for international guests that want to be pampered. There was nothing I didn't like about the Playa de la Luz.
The sea and beaches and nice surroundings (mostly due to the golf courses). After the classy atmosphere and excellent service of the Barcelo in Malaga, this hotel was somewhat of a dissapointment. It looked cheap, the service was very slow or non-existent (e.g. waiting more than 30 min for a simple sandwich) while it was the most expensive booking of our entire trip. Restaurant only has buffet menu.
Almost nothing The hotel is built of 5 different buildings, far from each other, especialy in very rainy day as we had. We came to enjoy the spa, it was 500m away and it was so full of local people that we couldn´t entre. They shouldn't define the hotel as spa hotel but as an hotel who exidently has a near by spa which you have to reserve your entrance weeks earlier.
Golf location, quiet place, very good training and golf facilities.Stayed there two years ago and hope to return. No
Location-at the Golf course
the food and golf course
Good price/quality relationship People should have place to park the car as the parking (although exists) is not working. With the current process to manage this problem, guests are forced to carry the luggage for a few hundred feets to reach the hotel... Unnecessary as there is a underground space that could be used.
The hotel was very nice and the staff were very helpful. Especialy when I found, what looked like a baby silverfish in the bed. The staff had the bed chnged immediately. The buffet breakfast was a plus also as there are no resturants readily available in the local area. Also during the winter season, they did not chatge for parking.
Staff, facilities very good, could not be faulted. Nothing
We didn't know that we had to make a reservation to get into the spa.
restaurant food was of a high standard the practice of dogs left alone in rooms as a dog owner I know they get lonely they then start to bark as they are in unfamiliar surroundings better to leave them at home
was "pretty" handy for access to old town. Lots of walking involved
Staff were helpful Breakfast poor. There are no balconies and you advertise that all rooms have balconies
Rooms need upgrading but are very comfortable. Location is excellent for the old town. Approx 10 mins walk or bus if necessary. Several good restaurants about 10 mins walk down by the beach. More suitable for city break or business than resort hotel.
The location was good for the historic town It was a bit tired and in need of room makeovers
The hotel looks and feels great The Front Desk lady was not welcoming, she kept asking for the people that was staying in the room's ID, even after I paid for the room she didn't want to give me the WiFi pass word until I gave her the ID of people staying in the room. Also she wanted me to pay 11€ for parking when I parked outside by the door w/o a problem and no charge. Everytime I saw her she will remind me of the ID. I work in a 5 star hotel as a manager and the way she treat me wasn't hospitable at all.
Large, clean room. All facilities of a good standard. English-speaking staff. The hotel is very good but I would reccommend more for business than leisure
Very clean. Nice room. Decent location halfway between tourist city and nightlife. Better for families than solo travellers.
Hotel staff very friendly. Hotel located across the street from the beach. Hotel had limited information about things to do in the area.
Only one night, very good, breakfast staff excellent
Central, comfortable , and staff helpful.Even cleaned car windscreen whilst garaged overnight. No
I think that the price for this hotel (room) was very good, the staff was nice.. Breakfast is too expensive...
Very nice room and location. Breakfast was a very nice spread. Pool bar was good and nicely priced Bad smell in bathroom. Also, water in shower went from very cold to scalding hot frequently while I was bathing without adjusting the temperature control
Easy walking distance to the town, the beach. No air conditioning and no air flow in the room, it was pretty hot. The shower kept going from ice cold to burning hot in seconds.
The location is wonderful, the view was amazing, the food and wine and excellent. The entire staff was always helpful and understanding. The parking spaces are very small for more than a compact car
The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for walking around Rota. The beach is cleaned each morning and the sand is soft. Although my visit in Rota was business related, I felt on a semi-vacation. The food at the hotel is also very good.
The location is fabulous! We were on the water and walking distance to the main walking/shopping/dining street. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel itself is beautifully appointed.
Great location! Fantastic breakfast included in rates. The staff could if been more helpful in sight seeing questions.
Location and room size
fantastic location, superb a la carte restaurand, fabulous breakfast and good service Nothing
The location was nice and parking convienent even if it was not free. The price was more expensive than I think it deserved. I guess that is the price for staying by the beach.
The location. The staff is trying very hard to give you a good experience, still, no one can be that good so you forget about the old hotel. Very old and in bad condition, not refurbished for around 20 years. Airconditioning in first room not working at all during the day, so we got a new one when we came back after dinner. Then we find out that the AC is switched off in the whole hotel its switched off at 11.30 pm means you will have a very warm sleep. There are much much nicer hotels for this price in Cadiz. Very surprised to see this rund down place being marketed as a Parador. Very very disapointed.
The view of the rooms was excellent. The hotel is very well located, very clean... rooms has everything u can need during a vacation. Hotel has great pool by seaside, and one very nice thing... they had a live piano player every night at the restaurants area.. very romantic!!! Definitely i would go there again! The rooms were kinda old... definitely they need some refurbishment... still they were extremely clean and comfortable.
Very convenient location. Spacious and well appointed hotel room. Good sea views from balcony. Airy public rooms.
Excellent possibility to combine "city activities" (fascinating history, culture, flamenco, gasttronomy etc) and "beach activities"
Location Friends who were with us had a very poor room which needed modernisation, very disappointing for a Parador.
The very good accessibility to all the sights which you need to see in Cadiz couldn't have been happier with the location. The restaurant.
Good location and great view parking available The pool was not in use
Rooms spacious and clean No beach access
The excellent situation, and the view from the terrace. The courteous and helpful staff. very good breakfast. Easy walk to the od town with all its attractions. If you want the beach there is an excellent one just 2 mins turning right from the hotel. Always something to see in the bay, we were pleased we took the binoculars. There were problems with the pool while we were there, but I assume this was only temporary.
it is very closed to the old city of Cadiz...the view on the Altantico is fantastic...The swimming pool is very nice as well. the room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend it.
Good value for money.
Very nice view to the see, comfortable room. Restaurant only served some menu for dinner; there was no a la cart choice to have dinner.
Place is good, near to beach, K for visiting Cadiz. Free car park
Staff were very friendly and location was brilliant Aircon was not v cold but it was ok
maybe because of the disco next door one had to endure a lot of noise during the night front office was not able to charge my Amex card (on purpose?)
It´s layed practically at the beach, close to the busy souvenir and bars/restaurants (during season!) street, nice big pool and garden, parking lot (plenty of space off season), dont know about season time though! Very friendly, lovely people, good food. Getting there through the town.... despite navigator! Stick to the bigger streets and dont let your navi get you through the lovely but mostly one way streets in the city center... you´ll find yourself circling a lot (nothing to do with hotel though). Hotel itself was busy even in off season. We liked it.
The location and view were outystanding, there was a very warm welcome all our requests were met on the spot. It was all we expected
the staff were very friendly and helpful and the sea view was fantastic
it is a 4 star hotel at the beach quite empty late in october. The beach is very clean and save even for little kids. Only 5 km from the center of Puerto Santa Maria and about 20 km from Jerez (20€ by taxi really worth to visit with its huge farmers markets !!!) swimming pool was closed like in all other hotels in October;-((
cracking locatio on the beach close to restuarants and cheringuitos. nice pool and breakfast comprehensive not so easy to get to by road adn expensive parking
Ideally situated for both the beach and for exploring the old town of Cadiz.
Beach front location is excellent, though I did have to pay extra for beachfont rooms. lift from rooms to beach without going through lobby great facility. Lobby of the hotel is grubby especially the large sofa which needs cleaning. the whole hotel could do with a makeover. if it were not for the location the hotel would not rate highly and even with its good location I think it is overpriced
great location right beside a beautiful beach not all balconies get the sun
The view from of the beach was nice once we paid the 22 euros of extra. The welcome desk was rude. The initial room( without the extra 22 euros of a full front), was poor, we had a perfect view on a gray facade of a decrepit building. The hotel did not reply to our initial questions at provided on the booking website!
Cleaning of room daily was abit hit and miss eg: we had to reuse dirty glasses, toiletry products not replaced daily.
The location right on the soft sand beach and beautiful design of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would have preferred one double bed instead of two twin beds, but there were none available in non-smoking rooms.
The view from the room
Close to beach, helpful when I left bag behind, view, Charges for parking and wifi
Nice location, comfortable rooms. bunch of crazy gipsy drunk men singing on the beach at 4:am!!!
The best thing about this hotel is the spa. The location is also terrific as it's close to the train station and central for shopping and sightseeing. Also, make sure that you go up to the roof as the view is terrific (and then you won't need to make the climb to the top of any of the towers in town!). The decor of the hotel was not what I would consider to be a 4-star standard; the description says that it's a "brand new hotel" but I don't see how this is possible - everything looked very worn-out. Also, you have to pay extra to use the spa, which was worth it, but then they also have a bunch of other charges on top of the extra charge - such as, you have to wear flip flops in the spa and if you don't have any, you have to buy some from them. They also charge extra for towels in the spa, which seems a bit petty - we used the ones from our rooms rather than pay an extra 1.50 euros each, but then had no dry towels to use in our room.
SPA is excellent... breakfast was not included to the price, strange... ( 117 eur )
the situation, and the brasserie style cafe
Nice and central but no real buzz in the surrounding area as with our hotel in Seville. instructions on how to find it. Totally incomprehensible. Took nearly 45 minutes to find it. When rung hotel staff no real help. Access to hotel garage diabolical
Location, reception areas English translation of menu
the position of the hotel in relation to the attractions of the city we booked no smoking rooms and were put into smoking rooms one of which could best be described as an ashtray! Staff showed little interest in solving the problem.
The staff at the breakfast was unpleasant, not helpful or nice. No parking
Excellent location right next to port and in the old town. Foyer earea etc excellent. Rooms don't have views though. Very helpful staff . Room clean and comfortable with all usual facilites, including tea and coffee making facilites. Room service good and value for money
comfortable the cleaning woman didn't change used glasses of our room so we had to wash them to use by ourselves.
We were treated extremely well by the staff and when they realised we were visiting from NZ showed additional positive interest in our well being.
wonderful location, close to bus station and rental car agency as well as the heart of the old city
Cleanliness, Golf course and breakfast
The room was reasonably large and had a balcony overlooking the pool. The services were terrible. The waiters and waitresses could care less about you. The food was dull, boring, and repetitive. Parking was problematic. Maid service was minimal and the room was not cleaned. I had to go asking for towels 2 times. The room key would not work. There were cats climbing on the resturant tables in the morning!
I did not like anything. The room was dirty. It was a junior suite with a huge balcony but very unsecure (as the balcony was connected to the corridor by one side). The hotel was very noisy and the food awful. It has no direct access to the beach as other hotels. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.Even 2 stars hotels are better than this one.
We liked the room (comfortable and clean). There was lots of light and a nice view. The lobby area was nicely done. The bar at night did not serve any food.
location good staff very helpful and food ok long queues experienced for breakfast and dinner during weekend.
My room was spacious and really enjoyed the balcony. The Spa was wonderful. Parking was a nightmare. Staff was very unfriendly. Had many issues with room key not working properly. Layout of hotel was not user friendly at all.
The breakfast was excellent ! The buffet in the evening good ! They forgot to clean our room from one day to the other ! We paid a little more to have a Junior Suite, but that was waste of money. The room was also foolishly furnished.
It is close to the beach. Hotel staff was extremely poor. Everything is pay extra. Parking is terrible. Hotel food was plain and excessively expensive. This should be rated a 3-star at best, not 4-star. Choose somewhere else!
Price/Quality ratio is perfect. Cousine is perfect. Spa facilities very good, the Ocean is the best. Strongly recommended.
We were made welcome, given a very comfortable room with fantastic views over the beach. Breakfast was very good but the dining room seemed a bit canteen like.
The location and facilities were very good. I also very much appreciated the bottle of wine and dessert being placed in my room on my birthday - my thanks to the management and staff Perhaps some of the staff could work on their friendliness - perhaps it is just the cultural diffrence (New Zealand and Spain) - very few of the staff ever smiled when being greeted or greeting us.
Wonderful location opposite beach with night street market in front of the hotel and choice of great restauants. Easy to get about with buses.
Parking facilities. Convinient for beach, resturants and city centre
Very good location and friendly staff. You need to cross the street in order to get to the beach.
the people , the comfort , the location , the view all is perfect dining room and terrace facilities needs to be updated .
The location of the hotel, it is on the most beautiful beach. We visit the hotel regularly. N/A
Reception staff were excellent on the day. Rooms looked tired and in need of refurbishment.
The location is great, right on the beach.
The convenience of the beach and eating establishments. Rooms are clean and bathroom is first class. Pillows could be more plump.
Good location, clean tidy and quiet room, close to amenities, hassle free stay. No tea/coffee making facility in room
Good location. Smelly smokey rooms & lights in the corridors are very inadequate - it's to dark!
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Good location. Room 411 unpleasant view from window of peoples washing hanging from the balconies of their flats.
The room was a good size and the beds were very comfortable. The design of the foyer was odd. Instead of opening out into the hotel, it seemed to get smaller.
Beach nearby, easy access to everywhere, very helpful staff, good view from our room Never managed to connect to the internet, we didnt have a double bed but two beds pushed together
the staff were super friendly
It was about a 7 minute walk to the beach. Very nice rooms, though a little small for 3 adults and a baby. Everything was new and clean. The hotel staff was very helpful. Great breakfast! The hotel is not close to the "touristy" parts of Cadiz. Not a whole lot of restaurants really close by. The hotel rooms are only meant for 2 people.
Convenient for the beach. Bathroom doors were made of tinted glass. You could see through them.
room was very clean and cool, confortable bed and amazing shower when we arrived we were given a set of keys that didnt work, i asked for another set of keys that also didnt work, the third ones were ok but we were asked to leave them at reception every time. also on the last night the window kept opening all night due to the wind, apart from this i couldnt really fault this hotel
value for money, breakfast, rooms far from historical center
Position. Rooms were good - ours faced the Cathedral. Staff very pleasant. Breakfast could have had more choices, but adequate.
The staff were very helpful and the location was perfect for visiting the city. Initially there appeared to be some cleanliness issues but these were addressed promptly
The staff. Both the front desk and restaurant personnel was very welcoming, friendly. The front desk personnel went the extra mile to accommodate all our needs. No parking
View from the bedroom. Very comfortable bed. The fact the swimming pool was out of use (& had been for a long while). Staff not as good as they could have been.
noisey! rooms were not very sound proof and very noisey.
The receptionists at the Hotel Caribe are the very best. They are always very pleasant and extremely helpful. It is always a joy to stay at the Hotel Caribe. I noticed that the bar/cafeteria were closed more often than in the past.
Access to Cadiz was good via the ferry The hotel garage is really only suitable for small cars. We scratched out rental BMW318 triing to negotiate the entrance.
All the staff were very helpfull and friendly
Location, price, cleanliness, and friendly staff.
Very conveniently located; comfortable rooms; staff very friendly and supportive
The great staff..best resturant/lounge in town..and the location in relation to the beach. like all/most hotels in the area..no washcloths in the restroom.
I liked the fact the staff were fluent in english. One small issue was that there was no way adjust room temperature, as one night was a little cold and the room temperature could not be increased.
Close to bus line...decent places to eat/buy food within short distance...very nice staff, good English, helpful...very nice pool. Rooms need some renovating, especially showers, which are still way too SMALL!...but still a great value for what I paid (46 e, includes adequate breakfast).
Value for the area. Fast in room internet. Nice balcony in room. Free parking is rare in Spain. Overall this is a good place to stay. Shower water temperature can change up or down quickly.
Staff helpful & friendly. Location, close to beautiful beach & was walking distance to where i needed to be everyday (Swimming Pool). Cost (expensive), especially when compared to the deals you can get these days (recession times).
Good and friendly staff, clean rooms Expensive based on room, no breakfast & location, but choosen because it was in walking distance of the swimming competition centre
Very pleasant & clean
not so expensive but comfortable and clean! excellent!!
We like all good restaurents and bars close to the hotel. Nice walk along the beachfront into old town (30 min). Our apartment have a good view over the sea. Clean and spacious. Staff were very helpful and Nice.Beach playa victoria also very good. Nice people in Cadiz overall. No.
location was perfect! The beach and restaurants are very close.
location and Privacy No pool
Great staff: super-friendly and helpful. Very quiet room. Excellent location practically on the beach. Trifle expensive for a 3 star hotel, but then it was peak season and all the hotels were full.
Comfortable room, convenient cafe on site
Macavi is a good hotel. We will recomend him for friends. Nice staff, comfortable room and very good location.
Not much! As the Spanish cannot make tea (They put hot milk in it) and as I dislike coffee I asked for a cup of hot water (I'd got instant tea with me) I was soon told, yes if you pay.
Location, 20m from the beach. Generous room size. Street parking available. Friendly although no English spoken. My room faced the street and shared a wall with the elevator. Noisy from scooters, voices from a cafe until 1am and the elevator. I paid extra for a balcony but it was very small and was on the street and too noisy to enjoy. I asked to change rooms but this was not possible. This may have been just my own unfortuate experence. Interior facing rooms were probably ok.
The cleanliness was excellent throughout the whole hotel language with night staff were excellent. food on the hotel menu was excellent both in preparation and presentation and price No
Excellent value for the money: you can see the beach and the ocean from your hotel room, it has a small balcony; nice courtyard for dining
The cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in. The best hostel in terms of not only value, but in cleanliness, location and emenities. Excellent!! Room was a bit loud during peak hours.
This place is a block from the beach, has a great restaurante and an excellent staff. The room was so clean and very nice. I would have liked to be able to get coffee in the morning before 0900. But it was not the worst things
Very kind and helpful staff. Perfectly comfortable bed! Very clean!! I was able to smell the cigarette smoke from downstairs. It wasn't terribly strong, but I didn't care for it.
The staff were top quality. It was clean and sharp. The town was awful. Don't go if you don't need to - too many ignorant Americans.
It would have been nice to be able to boil water in the room, ie if the hotel had supplied an electric kettle.
Spatious rooms. The SPA is good but could be better. The included buffet breakfast was very good Many drawbacks here. Before going you should really ask yourself if there is a real need for going far from everything else and spend all this money. The apartments are big, but very poor refined. The hotel staff (low season?) is slow (30-40 min for a checkin/checkout) and poorly trained. The swimming pool is little but if you want to take a sunbath, be sure to have your spray for flies and mosquitos. Check carefully the door handles as you could be trapped in your bath for hours...
- good standing and nice design
Very nice apartment. The heated swimming pool is fantastic.
Quiet and clean Staff was a mighty cold although helpful
The staff provided excellent service and were always willing to help. Nice weather and great beaches
enviroment, flowers, garden, pool little expensive
Location and quietness, but most staff not to co-operative except two ladies trying to assist really. service has room for improvement.no internet connection in public place.access to spa only by extra payments. sun chairs packed away in evening but not easily accessible in the morning
layout & facilities could be a little cleaner
We liked the layout of the apartment, the quietness and the area. We did not like having to pay 6 euros for the use of the indoor pool, in view of the price of the apartment. Some of the features in the apartment were old (fridge) or broken (safe) and had not been fixed/replaced.
Apartment location & accessability to the swimming pool distance from main town
