The staff was awesome and we used the regency club for the first time. Glad we upgraded for it because we loved it! Overall a great stay! For the price that you pay, the gym should should have a more equipment.

The location couldn't be more convenient, just steps away from the Embarcadero BART station, and very close to everything off of Market and the Embarcadero. The hotel itself is large and strangely appointed in some ways in the lobby (huge sculptures, dated music, pods of work or social spaces set out in the midst of an overwhelming visual scale reminiscent of Soviet architecture). That said, the staff was so welcoming and pleasant, and the rooms are clean, new, and quite comfortable. I did not try room service, but everything I experienced was worth the very affordable rate. I'll be back.

The lobby area inside us very beautiful, yet it's not that unique anymore compare to some of the newer hotels. Location is very good, right access from ferry building and many good restaurants. Room needs renovation. Restroom is small, couldn't find light switch when we get in the room. Booked king bed room and was given a double bed room, staff told us nothing they could do. They did give us some credit but only end up buying some water, because there is none in the room.
Downtown you're close to everything and the hotel view was amazing. You're still downtown, so you walk out and it's a lot of homeless and the streets smell of urine, bad. The hotel staff is in no hurry for anything. Toom service took 1.5-2 hours and we even had a package delivered and they never bothered to bring it up. After three hours we told them forget it we'll get it ourselves. Cleaning staff is super nice. They were doing construction there so don't bother trying to nap during the day, because they were jack hammering the lobby. For the money I think there's better.
Excellent location with great facilities in this hotel. It's really easy to travel to other famous sightseeings and restaurants in this area are really good. A little bit noise whether stay in high floor or in low floor, and the bathroom is too small for a 4 star hotel.

The hotel atrium remains spectacular. Great location in financial district, overlooking the bay, a walking distance from Fisherman's Wharf, but be aware that many restaurants and coffee shops in the immediate vicinity of the hotel are closed on Sunday. Bathrooms are small and outdated. Overnight parking is $34.00.

Great location for a "staycation." We live in SF, and spent the night downtown. First dinner, then movie (at Embarcadero Cinema), then a stroll to the Ferry Building. All this within about three blocks. When we arrived, we were given a free upgrade to a slightly larger room (maybe it was a slow Friday night, but they didn't have to have done this). The room and bed were comfortable, although the TV was a bit on the small size (not tiny, just not huge). The room had plenty of room for the two of us, and the queen bed fit our two larger frames nicely. The "Living Room" on the lobby level was quite comfortable, with free espresso drinks and computers available. Free wifi throughout the hotel. We didn't try the restaurant, but there is a Starbucks on the corner (two doors down) that opens quite early, so we had a nice breakfast and coffee there. We enjoyed our stay, and thought the price was great for a downtown SF hotel room. Our only complaint was that the window was dirty. It looked like some cleaning had gone on above us, and the soap/water had streaked our window.

I liked the automated quick check-in process. The room key must also be swiped in the elevator for extra security. The hotel has wired and wireless internet access, flat panel tv/monitor, refrigerator and microwave. At 3:00 a.m. on the first night of my stay, the fire alarm sounded and the entire hotel was forced to evacuate. It was caused by one hotel guest who burnt some bacon in the microwave. I also would have liked a bathtub instead of just a shower.

Because we booked through the AMEX Fine Hotels program, we were upgraded to room with a truly fantastic view of North Beach, the bay, and the Bay Bridge; we were comp'ed breakfasts; and we got 5 nights for the price of 4. The hotel is in the financial district, which is very quiet on weekends.

Very nice hotel, probably standard for this class, the Omni was well situated for easy access to Chinatown, the financial district and not too far from shopping and the waterfront. Staff were often helpful and politely friendly. I appreciated the advice from the doorman and concierge. I don't much care for being charged for in room wif and a better front desk experience would improve my rating.
Hotel was clean and staff was super friendly. They all were super helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The rooms were very quiet and the restaurant in the hotel was very delicious!
Accommodating staff, comfortable bed and great location. A short walk to the ferry terminal and Montgomery BART station. Windows are thin - the clang of the trolley bell was clearly audible despite the fact the our window faced Montgomery, not California Street (where the trolley runs).
We were in town for the marathon and it was a fantastic base for our adventures. They allowed us to check in early when we arrived in town. They let us check out late so we could shower after the race! The staff were kind, friendly, and very accommodating. It was within walking distance of everything we needed and easy access to public transit. Don't forget to sign up for the loyalty program!

The location and the comfort of the beds were great. There were a few things that could be improved upon: 1. There were union protesters outside of the hotel before 7 AM each day with megaphones, and each day, it took over an hour for the police to come by to put a stop to the noise-making. The hotel could at the very least have provided earplugs. 2. The rooms, while clean, look a bit dated and dark. 3. There were not enough reception staff to handle the flow of guests, leading to long wait times.

We came from the Embarcadero BART/Muni Station on Market Street which was a very comfortable walk. Arrived about an hour before check-in time and received a room right away. Front desk was backed with a line for awhile. Had a high floor on first stay and liked it much better than the lower floor this time. Room and features are good. Large screen TV nice! Restaurant on the third floor is very good. Arthur is a great waiter; ask him where is from. BATH ROOM DOOR IS A JOKE!. It is very heavy and slides open like an old barn door. It is impossible to use the facilities in the middle of the night without making noise that awakens spouse. Bed was firm but comfortable. Would prefer a top sheet instead of just the covered comforter. Towels were nothing to shout about.

The beds were extremely comfortable and the location was nice. On November 20th, my girlfriend and I decided to take a weekend trip to San Francisco and stayed at Le Meridien. Upon arrival, the parking situation threw us for a loop as we drove into their structure that apparently is no longer in service. Frustrating, but we eventually figured it out. The hotel itself was nice and the first night sleep was great! Nice views of the all buildings, super comfy bed and overall very spacious. The second night however...very different story. We came back to our room(2103) around midnight from a great night out. We could hear the people next to us in the Sydney Cove Suite(2104) who had a few guests over. They were a little noisy but it didn't bother us at the time. Around 230AM, I was woken up to "extra curricular activities"....(Wink wink cough cough). Okay...just a couple enjoying their night together like any other couple would...we all do it, no big deal. But this wasn't normal (we very quickly realized there were more than 2 people still in that room...) and it happened again and again and again...and again.Precisely that many times until 530AM!! Not only were they blasting their music still, but the walls were so thin, we could hear EVERYTHING. Very disturbing and very disgusting. After the first hour and a half trying to block out the sounds (which was impossible) we called the front desk who initially was less than helpful. The first call we asked to have someone come up to ask them to please be quiet. No one ever came. We called back again about 20 minutes later and asked if anyone was coming. The man at the front desk said they had sent security who heard nothing from any room, which we did not believe. Our neighbors hadn't stopped since the first call downstairs and was still happening WHILE we were on the phone during the 2nd call! At that point we were very direct about what was going on/what we were hearing in that room and they immediately called the guests. Finally around 530--sweet silence. We notified the woman at the front desk when checking out who was very apologetic about the situation. It really is a shame that we had such a disturbing second night. The hotel really is nice and very comfortable hence the 3 "stars", but the walls make it seem like you are in the same room with your neighbors. I'm not sure that we would come back after the night we had.

The staff here made the San Francisco dream of an 80 year old birthday girl come true! A foreign friend had a dream to spend her 80th birthday in San Fran with the view of the Bay. The hotel staff took care of every detail including some bubbly, little cupcakes and a gorgeous hand written birthday card! Tears of joy were flowing when she got to the room and she hasn't stopped talking about it yet! Huge kudos to the hotel for making such a difference to the lives of visitors to our city!

The back of the hotel faces the Embarcadero and view of the Oakland Bay Bridge that lights up at night. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Complimentary coffee and tea in the morning an d water always available in the lobby. Constant whirring noise all around the hotel didn't allow a good night sleep. One of the two elevators is under construction. Concierge must help with luggage since there are only stairs at both the front and back entrances.

The front desk staff provided excellent, friendly, personal service. The nightly happy hour was very generous and relaxing. We had spectacular bay views from our room on the eighth floor, after changing from a lower floor room with less attractive views. The location was very convenient. Overall, a wonderful stay. Continental breakfast room service was included with our room. We had a little bit of a glitch with our requested timing.
Don't miss the farmers market across the street on Saturdays. Room was a little small but nice

Our bay view king room had a view of the Bay Bridge in all its LED lighted glory, which was awesome. View of the ferries, and quick walk to the Marketplace, Saturday Market, and Exploratorium for the kids. Also walked quickly to the trolley stop and a playground. Perfect location. We paid extra for a bigger room (bay view king, plus bigger sq. footage) but it was still small. We needed to set up the pack and play for our baby, and once we did that, we couldn't easily walk in our room. Also, the only real option for parking is valet, which is an additional $54/night!
I loved the staff. They were so polite and accommodating. I stayed on the 4th floor and the room was above the YMCA. So at 6am there were loud banging noises like weights being dropped. Loud enough to keep waking me up until my alarm went off at 9am!

I liked being able to purchase on the internet I did not like getting double charged for the stay because the KAYAK/AMOMA credit system was not working. I also did not like getting fraudulently charged for food I did not order nor a long distance phone call on a room phone that did not work. I will not be booking with either Hilton or Kayak in the future.
The view is the only thing we enjoyed. Horrible customer service. My fiancé and I were treated very poorly and when I talked to the manager Jeff, he was very apathetic. We asked for 2 bowls from Jeff later on and they never came. I had to go down to the front desk to grab the bowls myself. We also needed assistance with the television and no one ever came to help. If you are looking for a place where you are ignored and treated poorly for $200 plus a night then is your place. I am astounded that a place like the Hilton could hire such an awful manager as Jeff.

The location was convenient, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. For such an expensive stay, there were few amenities. Traveling with an infant, it was very inconvenient not to have a fridge or microwave in the room. We ended up ordering a bottle warmer from Amazon Now because there was no other way to warm his bottle. Also, the internet connectivity was poor. The parking fee was very high. .

Location was a bit dirty with a lot of construction and older run down buildings around. Lots of noise from the major road behind hotel came through the closed windows as if they were open. Parking was over the top! $60/day!!

It was a perfect location to see the Embarcadero and the ballgame...a good center for traveling around town. It was even a short walk to China Town, No breakfast menu...just buffet in the AM...too much food, too high of a price.
Great location, near water front, business district and tourism venues. Location was accessible via public transportation: Bart, CalTrain King At station approx mile or less away. In house Starbucks Coffee and restaurant. Utilized fitness facility, clean and mix of Dumbbells and aerobic equipment. Encountered negative experience with guests on our floor using Marijuana, hallway and elevator on or floor. It reaked of the odor during the Second day or our stay. A bit of loud partying on our floor as well. We notified the desk a few times (they offered to give us another room), but apparently they weren't able to locate the source. Disappointed that errant "Spring Breaker kids" ruined an otherwise pleasant experience. FYI we were traveling for leisure, and had our 8 he old son with us. Not the environment you'd want a child exposed to.
Good Location. Overall everything was alright. Nothing too wonderful, but nothing too critical. The lobby was fancy, but rooms werent wonderful. Not the friendliest staff. I found it strange that when I called for a bandaid, the front desk tried to sell one to me. I have been to other hotels, including Courtyard's, where they will just deliver something small like a bandaid to you if you need it. I even recall needing feminine products and they were sent to me. Considering the price of the hotel, and the parking ($59/night!), you would think a simple request like that would have been fulfilled.
Easy walk from the Bart after coming in from SFO. No uphil climb with cases like we had when we stayed in union square. The larger room allowed us to have all 3 kids in the room so no second room. The walk to union square took less than 5 minutes and easy walk to transport to get all over the city. Would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was really expensive. Kids would never have eaten $21 worth of food. There is a Starbucks in the lobby though and lots of breakfast places enroute to union square. The crepe food truck on the corner was delicious. Only other complaint would be that the shower pressure was low when other rooms were using. Why no pressure regulators Marriott?

First off, let me start by saying if it were just my husband and I the things that bothered me would not have been such a big deal. But travelling with small children changes things. The neighbors were so loud they woke my kids up multiple times. Security came and they did turn off music but continued to yell and keep on until 3am. The pool is tiny and not how it appears in pictures and because there is no one there and it is tucked out of the way from staff when another family showed up and their terror children wrecked shop there was no one there to help. Its $65 to overnight park your car, which is high even for the city. The breakfast buffet was $25 a person, even worse was the continental breakfast was $18 for bagels and coffee whichbis absurd. Just overall over priced for what you get.

Good location, across from Embarcedero, near Ferry Building, nice restaurants close by. Staff very helpful. Recently renovated. Free Wifi. Room very small and claustrophobic because the window is totally obstructed from daylight on the outside.

Location was perfect for walking along the Embarcadero. Nice restaurant associated with the hotel. Was compensated for having to change my room from a City View to an interior room with a bottle of wine, free parking for two nights, and free breakfast for two. Staff was great. Noise from our room sounded like carts rolling down a hallway above us. Not all night, but late at night and early in the morning. Not undoable, just annoying for about an hour each time.
The staff was attentive to your needs. Our room was very tiny with the sync outside the bathroom. I guess you get what you pay for.
I was impressed by the styling and attention to detail at the Griffon. This very old building felt quite modern, and my room reminded me so much of my stays in Europe. The multinational staff was very friendly without being forced. The HVAC needs serious attention. While the flow and temperature were fine,there was an annoying mustiness throughout the building. No doubt an effect of being so close to the bay, but a thorough cleaning is in order.

Small, decent room with your own sink. Common areas and bathrooms / showers cleaned very often. If you think of it like a combination of a hostel, the cot your parents bust out when you visit for the holidays, and couch surfing you'll be good. $50 cash deposit might not be obvious if you book through third-party sites. Rooms definitely have a cleaning product smell, so not a good fit for the chemically sensitive.
The Balmoral hotel is a very basic accommodation option for anyone visiting San Francisco. It is truly central and the neighborhood is very convenient if you need to be close to the financial District/Chinatown. There is a Starbucks half a block away which opens as early as 3:30 AM but does close by 6:30 PM. There are restaurants nearby but the great majority of them close by 8 PM. If you plan to arrive late and have had no dinner do keep in mind that your food options will be limited. Subway which is a half a block away also closes like the rest of the other restaurants. There is a cash refundable deposit required of $50/room-if you happens to be without any cash, there is a HSBC ATM at the corner. In all rooms, a bath towel and hand towel is made available to the guest. They will also provide a roll of new toilet paper per room. Do keep in mind that the facility although being called a hotel, it houses short to long term guest. You will notice that at the “Check-In” process you will be presented with a four page document titled: “Rental Agreement”. The form includes a questionnaire asking if your last place of residence was less than a year-why did you leave the place. The advertised condition of shared bathroom is accurate but make notice that each floor has two toilets and 3 shower rooms per floor. I did not count the number of rooms but by my estimate the ratio is 2 toilets and 3 shower rooms to about 35 to 50 rooms per floor. The first night, there was a toilet plugged with paper and feces so the ratio drops to one toilet in that room. There are other toilets in the remaining floors. There is no toiletries provide (Shampoo and soap)-so don’t get caught without your own if staying at the property. Some rooms will have hard-wood flooring and some will be carpeted. The rooms are small and basic and equipped with a sink-no soap. Some rooms will have windows facing out to the street and some will face small inner court and other rooms. The distance front to front on windows is very close but not close to touch or jump but very close so keep in mind. The clientele is basically broken in three groups: 1) monthly or short term residents (which happen to be living there cause their economic condition won’t allow them to find a proper rental at an affordable price. 2) Some unsuspecting tourist drawn by the low price. It is truly economical when you compared other properties in this expensive destination. Some will be ok with the condition of the property but some may find it not acceptable. Do keep in mind you get what you pay for. I fall under this category and some of my experiences and opinions are based on this bias. My trip was due to a business trip and due to budgetary concerns, This is the property we stayed at. Safety wise I can’t say I felt unsafe but during my two night stay, I did overhear loud voices in the hall way of people loitering. Another night I could make out Marijuana smell-both I have no objection over but you may. I can share with you that I did not use their toilet but instead went to the Starbucks half a block away-they were cleaner! Shower after my trip was over and back at home. 3)The last group of people I could see was young professionals. Very well dressed people sporting apple watches and business casual apparel. I did not speak to any of them but I can imagine the backstory of why they were staying there. Newly college graduate looking for an interview with the financial institutions in the neighborhood who can’t afford another option for housing while in town for interviews.
The staff was helpful It's a hostel. With various junkies walking in and out all day. On my blinds was a giant wad of recently chewed gum, there were also crumbs on my bed sheets
