If you need a place to take a deep breath and relax, Simpson House Inn is it. From our personal greeting when we arrived until we said good-bye, the friendly staff catered to our every need. Hedges surround the secluded Victorian home making it a true get-away. The room was beautifully decorated with antiques, meticulously clean, and very comfortable. The pillows and bedding were first-class and made for an excellent night’s sleep. The complimentary Kiehl’s bath and body products made getting clean delightful. At our romantic table for two on the veranda we were served amazing vegetarian breakfasts (banana pancakes were my favorite) on cherished family china. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a few too many of the fresh-baked cookies. The evening Hors d’oeuvres were truly delectable. We like good food – and we were not disappointed! In-between eating, we spent time sitting in the beautiful garden, listening to the soothing fountain, and admiring the sprawling Oak Tree. We strolled downtown, walked through nearby parks, visited a museum, and drove to Solvang. Our stay was a trip back in time, yet with all of the modern comforts – including Wi-Fi, television and a mini-fridge. Thank you Simpson House for the perfect vacation.
The service was impeccable. Like staying with family... The included breakfast and snacks were thoughtful and delicious. The perfect romantic getaway. Highest recommendations! Having to leave.
Eagle Inn is an attractive, clean, and well-maintained property, and is close to Santa Barbara's happening spots. We were in room 102, right off the lobby, and adjacent to the breakfast room. At 7am every morning, there commenced from above and all sides such a clamor as to make sleeping past that hour impossible. Perhaps an upstairs room, away from the lobby would be better.
A beautiful hotel with really nice comfortable rooms. In a great location only minutes away from the beach and a 10 minute walk from the main nightlife.
Very nice hotel with a friendly staff and in a great location. I will definitely stay again
A quiete hotel located in walking distance to a number of good restaurants in the beach area.
Great location, great staff, great hotel
helpful suggestions and cooperation with scheduling two blocks from the beach
homeliness and location.
Local to event Very rude staff
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 days 2 nights as a getaway trip from work and we loved our little cottage! We booked the Santa Cruz Cantina and it was perfect for us! We loved the separate rooms and facilities within our own private little house. The only problem we had with our room was that the drains in the bathroom sink and bath tub didn't drain properly. The plug seemed to be stuck and had to be lifted/taken out by hand in order for water to drain.
Our family of four had a great time at the Eagle Inn. Lovely rooms & super bathrooms. Breakfast was prepared and served individually. They even had cruiser bikes available that we used to explore Santa Barbara, which, given the super location, was easy to do. We liked the place so much, so didn't mind that there was only one queen bed per room. Rooms are too small for two beds, but fine with one bed. We also had one person who couldn't have taken the stairs, and were lucky to have downstairs room. Not sure if there was an elevator, so visitors should check for availability of downstairs rooms.
Good location for the beach area, quiet aeea but close to action.Reception staff very helpful. Queen room quiet small.Breakfast very poor did complain about the variety and lack of key products.Expensive stay and it lacked value for money.
The bedroom was amazing, perfect for lovers. The staff to the lobby was not really warmful
Excellent location, very helpful friendly staff, good value for money. Would definitely recommend. No coffee/tea making facilities in room.
We liked the cleanliness and 'retro' look of the windows. The bed was very comfortable and there were reading lights on each side of the bed. The light over the sink was strong enough to see what one was doing, rather than just cast shadows. minor: I like a flat pillow and they were all fluffy.
location. distance from the beach was great. not enough reserved parking. there was no carpet in the hotel room, which made the room much colder. the bedside lamp didn't work properly, and there were cracks in the tiles on the bathroom/shower walls. the lighting in the room was insufficient.
Location near marina. Dog Friendly. Staff were great. MINOR improvement: Parking stalls were snug fit. Glad there was enclosed parking; wish the stalls were larger.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Location. My room was in the front of the property which was loud at times with cars and pedestrians. The parking lot can be dark and desolate.
Clean and easy access to room...accepted pets. super skimpy breakfast for a place that bills itself as a B&B or Inn
Hotel is clean, great location, well kept, staff is friendly and helpful. None. I would definitely stay here again.
Location and good bed There was no reserved parking and not enough spaces for guests.
Within walking distance to the beach and excellent restaurants. Room was clean and comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Basic, no-frills beachside rooms, very close to the waterfront and a local beach. Cute in an old-school California beach-town way. Weak continental breakfast for a place that has 'bed and breakfast' in its name.
The homemade breakfasts were delicious, and the room was very large and comfortable. The decor was a bit cheesy, but typical of a traditional bed and breakfast.
The hostess was very helpful and welcoming. Easy parking. Decor needs updating. Third floor not worth the price. Bathroom fair.
I loved everything about The Bath Street Inn! They make you feel like family! It's a cozy place with the best staff. It is such a great alternative to staying in the traditional coorporate environment. Loved it!!
Staff TV in room was inadequate
This charming B&B offers lots of quiet spots to get away from it all --- and that quiet time is a little bit sweeter when you are enjoying a homemade treat or two. Breakfast, too, is a lovely, and hearty, affair. We stayed in the Partridge Room, which has the additional charm of offering a private entrance and a small balcony --- making it a favorite among many guests. I would, however, suggest that it is not the best choice for the less agile since enjoying your balcony requires you to climb out your bathroom window. But, there are lots or other less challenging rooms to choose from. The inn is peaceful and immaculate while being located just a few blocks from the heart of Santa Barbara. P.S: If you are looking for a full length mirror, something almost impossible to find in most B&Bs, climb to the third floor. There's also a video library up there.
I stay here almost every time I go to Santa Barbara because I love the atmosphere and peacefulness of the grounds. The rooms are quaint and quite comfortable and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only criticism I might make is that some of the bathrooms are very small - you can barely turn around in them.
The people who own and run the Cheshire Cat inn are wonderful. Attentive and willing to go the extra mile. We didn't appreciate the noise level of the streets on two sides of our cottage.
It's walking distance to the State st. which was nice. They don't have hot breakfast before 9 a.m. which was disappointing (we needed to be at a meeting by 9 a.m., so they provide a cold breakfast). Location
Overall facility was quaint, size was spacious. Neighborhood it was in was residential but quiet. Typical beach B&B. The bath and parlor room smelled very strong of urine or foul smell. Told manager, who became offensive to us instead of finding a resolution. We requested another room which they did not have, or the option of a refund which was flatly refused
