Perfect location, small luxury hotel. Ideal for romantic short stay.
Nice design, good concept that try to present art and culture of old shanghai by renovate the old building. well trained staff ! they all can speak english well and helpful. So plain breakfast and less choices. Just like continental breakfast that is not the concept of the hotel. they can do better than this by serving gourmet breakfast as the price for room is not low. By the way, the toilet in the room could not be flushed on the last day. One last thing is the payment. I did book with booking.com with USD but the hotel would charge in RMB. this amount converted to my currency in thai baht will have about 10-15% different even I paid by credit card. the hotel could do nothing and insisted that they could charge the card only in RMB currency ( that the amount is higher than USD ).
.Nothing I thougt the hotel was style over substance, the staff not particularly helpful, it took 4 attempts to get the air conditioning working. The hotel manager does not speak to guests. The breakfast was a disgrace. I will not be rebooking
The staff is so gentle and professional .the environment is comfortable and suitable...I spent I great time..
The decor and artwork of the rooms was very stylish and comfortable, and quite avant garde Noise from traffic
Design of the rooms is very nice.
great rooms large size with plenty of art deco character No satellite tv channels in English terrible breakfast and even though i changed rooms twice I could not find a room with both the internet and outside phone line working
Hotel was wonderful, but they had no confirmation of our booking through Booking.com. Fortunately they were not busy so accomodated us.
We spent 4 nights in this amazing boutique hotel. We were given very special attention and the staff was so kind that we just felt like we were home. The very personalized service we received was an absolute highlight. The rooms were great as well, very spacious, all different (we got the chance to visit them), nicely decorated and very "design". The Molton Brown amenities were a plus. I would recommend this hotel to everyone - my friends, familiy, and colleagues.
Great location in the French Concession; very close to a metro stop, so it was very convenient getting around. Also, the room was enormous and redolent of Old Shanghai. The breakfast, while ample, was a bit so-so.
This hotel was great in terms of cleanliness and helpful staff. The rooms were very nice (although the single is just that, a small room), and cable TV was a plus (although for English-speakers, your choices are CNN International, HBO, and CCTV 9). The staff was also very helpful, although their English is somewhat limited (but better than average I thought). There is also 24-hour security and room service, although I never tried it. Of course, with the price that travel website offered, this hotel is an excellent pick, except for one thing: location. The location of this hotel is in Xuhui District, Shanghai, which is not bad. But it is at least a 20-minute walk to the nearest subway station (either Damuqiao Rd or Luban Rd Stations) each way, and at night when it is freezing (in the winter) or when you are lugging your luggage, or when trying to catch a train (by subway, it is at least 40 minutes to Shanghai Main Railroad Station, and around 30 to Shanghai South), it is not necessaril...
The room is too small. This is not a 4-star standard hotel The bed is only 90 cm wide, and is short. The equipment is old. The window is a little dirty This room can not match its price in any sense. The pic of the hotel is not real, not in the same level with other hotel in China. The most important thing, the attitude of the staff we met for check-in is. terrible. You can made little adjustment after you check in Hoping other visitor check the hotel before you go.
good location but room was too small do not feel confortable with security.
The hotel is in a really nice central area, close to the subway station and shopping mall. The room have hair-dryers, fridge and internet (although internet is not free). Very good price-quality.
During my stay, I feel very comforatable. I can walk out to the nearby restaurants to eat what I want. There is a gym for table tennis across the hotel which is very handy for me . Nearby the Gym there is a large local supermarket store, pretty much you can buy any food or necessity there. From Pudong airport, take #3 airport bus costs 20RMB to get there. The bus stop is just across the street,a walking distance. Also from this stop, you can take the same bus to go to Xu Jia Hui big shopping mall. only one bus stop away. Next time I go to Shanghai, I would consider staying at the same hotel.
It was very frustrating for me that they couldn't speak english and clearly they were not understanding what were my needs. When I checked in, they put me in a 'second' building which is for extended stays. It was not the most luxurious room but it was clean and had what you need. Very small though. Anyways, I thought I could deal with it until I found out that there was no internet conection. I called them and explained what was the situation and NO ACTION was taken. I asked to talk to the manager and after 5 different call transfers, I got to the manager. The manager did not speak english very well and in his broken english he said they were going to send an 'engineer.' After 5 calls and the last one was not very polite, the engineer came and they found out that there was no service at all. They gave me another room in their 'main' building which seemed to be more a hotel room. I can't complain about this as it was a nice hotel room.It is clean, it is very close to the expo , it...
We completed the trip to Shanghai in November 2010. Location of hotel is convenient but its appeal is not impressive at all. The neighborhood is full of over-spill sewage smell like most other Shanghai neighborhoods except Pudong New Area. We booked a room in the main building on the 30th floor. The room was clean but with two major discrepancies. Even when we set the aircon to cool #40not heat#41 only warm air came out and the room temperature kept going up beyond 28 degree C. The shower was cheaply renovated in early 2010 with no shower tub only two pieces of placey-glass glued to the floor. Water leaked out under the door into the bath room the small tiles covering the shower floor kept coming lose and the shower door handle was seriously rusted. Luckily Shanghai was my wifes birthplace and we speak both Mandarin and Shanghaiese so communicating with staff was not a problem. After 5 days we checked out around 9 am and the maid showed up within 10 minutes insisted that we ha...
the room was very small and the bed as hard as a rock but for the price and convenient location it was ok.
The location because it was near the shanghai stadium where i had business in. Staff were not very friendly. I must point out that the facilities were a bit old already. I understand that it's a bit of an old hotel already but facilities should be kept well maintained. For instance, it was such a disappointment that the shower drainage in our bathroom was clugged. and the towels were not changed even if we had placed them in the tub already. Housekeeping just folded the same towels and placed them back on the towel rack. Service didn't meet our standards.
The only complaint I have about this hotel is that their internet service only is available for PC-users (Windows) but not to Mac-users (OS).
I had some routine wishes staff dealt with this properly, also all staff spoke adeate english
Excellent room service and cleaning Staffs english could have been better. Receiving messages was a problem.
Veiw ,room space, bufe, recriation area, guest mix, communication. No fruits in room,no change of bed sheets daily,no up grade incentive when long stay if occupancy is low
The 24hour Deli, location to Metro and very helpful staff.
Convenience of location
Excellent Hotel staff. This is the first time that I see staff on the reception asking politely rude Chinese customers to wait their turn. As you know in China there is a habit to immediately shout your question to the staff, even if they are busy with other customers. China has still a long way to go to educate their citizens to wait their turn, no matter how important they think they are.
Central location and overall physical ambiance inside the hotel. Easy excess from Airport The front desk staff was extremely rude. I stayed in this hotel when it was managed by Sheraton group and the staff was excellent. Jin Jiang is a large hotelier group and should look into the matter seriously
Great for getting around Shanghai, less than 100m from the undergound station
Value for money, good hotel. 5-10 min by taxi to all main points of interest, metro station is also close to.
Excellent, easy access to every where by next door metro station, high class neighborhood, 7 min shopping center (area) by walking.
. the hotel located right in front of the metro line 7 exit 4 . the metro staytion name is the same as the address of the hotel road , safe place and 15 minutes walk to shopping area. Room and baht room are clean and spacious. over all is good hotel ..... none
The room was very spacious and clean. No noise. Free internet access. Metro right next door which operates during the day. Alternatively, the next nearest metro is just 10 minute walk up the road. Ideal for the business executive, or tourist who does not want to be in the main tourist area. I would definitely stay in the hotel again. Airconditioner does not self regulate in the room. So temperature was too hot. But was able to switch it off and open the window.Bit of a smell in the bathroom. But this seems to be quite normal in China.
Very clean rooms and the maids are constantly on their toes to keep it so. Staff keen to help out guests with any request, even if they might not always understand what you are saying. Construction of the new subway outside can be a nuisance, get a room facing south if possible.
Hotel is near the city center. 15 minute by walk. Hotel's stuff was old. Hall of breakfast so airless and dark. Hotel staff is not polite. Once we wanted change money, she has check the money many times.
Mansion Hotel is a very charming place with an unique interior. Especially the entrance hall where you can sit for a nice cup of tea or drink is a reflection of the "good old days" of the 1930's of Shanghai. Even better is the terasse on the 5th floor with a magnificent view over the French Consession.
The restaurant is not living up to the general level of the hotel. The ambience of the hotel is fantastic.
The ambience, the decorations in the hotel are great. The location is ideal, in a quiet neighbourhood which is what I'd wanted. There seems to be a lack of personnel who has a good knowledge of fine restaurants suggestions and visiting pionts in shanghai. Some of the staff need to improve their English and communication skills.
Big beds. Big rooms. Great bath and showers. Effective cleaning of room. Fair rate for room inclusions. TV did not get cable in english - VERY limiting to international non-Chinese people. It would be a reason we would not book again.... Also access to internet without needing your own laptop, onsite.
the hotel is beautiful and historic certain details are not attended to. Water drainage problem at the shower.
Loved the Architecture and design echoing the original 1930s.The feeling of luxury and comfort in the rooms, though some what wasted on a single traveler as my wife was back in Sydney. The location is terrific with good shopping and restaurants. TV reception could be improved, but only channel surfed for five minutes....
A memorable stay. An great choice if you are looking for a change from the typical 5 stars room from the typical chain hotels.
The staff were outstanding!
Fantastic atmosphere of old house. Too small room comparing high price. Poor and expensive breakfast.
the temperature of the room was fixed at high level,so it was too hot
I always come back to this hotel when I am in Shanghai. It is situated in a very nice area. Rooms and food is good - and a very friendly staff. Internet could work better. Earlier it worked better than now...
Good location . Service is good & professional. Room is great. Breakfast is too expensive & not too much choice
The staff - from reception to conceirge to housekeeping were all very attentive & prompt in responding to my needs. Beyond expectation & far superior to any hotels I've stayed in China. Price was a little steep as it does not have other amenities like spa or sauna.
awesome~~i was surprised they also upgraed the room.
The gym and swimming pool were good. Breakfast good, rooms practical and clean. The rooms were rather cold and the hotel was quite far away from the city and shopping streets still.
Excellent room. Enjoyed staying there. Would like to have stayed longer. I was only given one breakfast voucher even though there were two of us staying. This was resolved after I complained but what is the idea of giving one breakfast for two guests - crazy!
Very good location and staff services. I got low level which was no city view and too much noise from the street, especilly in the morning.
Booking was easy and great location for family holiday. It's actually on a residential area. The hotel itself was too old. I've stayed in most sommersets and Ascotts but this was just not up to standard in terms of the condition of the property itself. Even the cleaning eas disappointing
Ease of check in and out. Convenient location. The cafeteria menu prices did not include tax, so on my last day in China I was just a few RMB short of cash to pay for a snack. Why not put the price you must pay on your menus?
Because my office is right across the road, that's why I decided to stay in this hotel. Internet charge is quite expensive compared to other hotels within the vicinity.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, though a bit on the small side. The indoor swimming pool was very nice with excellent changing and showering facilities. The breakfast (excluded in the room rate) was not the best value for money. And we asked for a non-smoking room but people in the rooms around ours were constantly smoking so the whole floor smelled of smoke.
Very comfortable with efficient staff. Breakfast was good with adequate space and food options.
nice clean hotel staff was not very friendly or helpful and nothing special about this hotel
Helpful and friendly staff.
tennis courts over priced
0 1- I REACH HOTEL AT 9.00 PM AND THEY ASK TO WAIT FOR ONE HOUR TO MAKE ROOM REDAY. 2- DURING MY WAITING I GOT COFFE AND GREEN TEA AT THE RESTAURANT COST ME 180RM. 3- ROOM NOT CLEAN AT ALL. 4- NO MENY BAR AND WHEN I AM DOING CHECKOUT ASK ME WHAT DID YOU USE FROM THE MENY BAR. 5- RE USING THE PERSONAL STUFF AGAING ( SAMPOO AND SHOWER GEL ) IT WAS HAFE. AND MORE MORE MORE
Every person that worked there learned my name over 6 days and the staff was very friendly. The room was very quit. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Clean, quit, and great staff.
nice hotel clean and comfortable
Nice clean and well equipped. On the business floor/ executive rooms, next to my room a party! Took a lot of complaining and till 01.45 hours before it stopped. The next morning I received 3 apples to say the management was sorry....
The Fitness Centre was very welcome and have good selection of latest equipments. The bed was very comfortable The see through shower and toilet next to the door can be rather inconvenient.
The location is great-near a tube station and surrounded of nice international restaurants
Excellent location, 5 star service and feeling, for china a very good breakfast buffet, staff speaks excellent english and is helpful. Once fixed the internet at the room television worked great - nice feature! I arrived early (7am) but there was no flexibility on early check-in, the breakfast is too expensive if you do not have it included in the room price (150rmb = 24usd) The cheap room is very small, you have to like the feeling of train travel (2.2m wide)
quality fittings, & two good size beds in twin room young children charged half price for breakfast. breakfast is good, but expensive - better to take the breakfast inclusive deal.
They don't turn on the air conditioning at nights. Stuffy and couldn't sleep. No it good for a business hotel as a result.
Great hotel, great location, just off the beaten track
Good position in Shanghai. Excellent staff, breakfast and room quality
even though not right in the centre of Shanghai it was close to the subway and near an area that is fast upcoming and trendy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The spartan breakfast was filling though some westeners might complaint that it was too Asian. The hotel was clean and quiet I thought a good deal for the price
The staff was friendly. Service is good. Tucked away behind some buildings could be hard to find but besides that there is no street noise which is a plus. Not the easiest place to get to if on foot, you will have to walk around to get to big streets.
clean Staff don't speak english enough do help you for anything
Staffs are very friendly and close to the train station. Water was not hot enough for the shower, so bit disappointed every time i had a shower. Breakfast was pretty simple .
Before I travel to Shanghai, I expected that I shouldn't expect too much for hotel because there was general reputation which I got on the internet about Shanghai hotels. But this hotel, it was much more than I thought. People are trying to help us, kind. Room was simple , clean. Breakfast was ok. I enjyoed chinese style porrige. Hotel locates bit far from station , 10 mins walk, but hotel and Metro are in the same main street , easy to find.
everything was just fine, included the "western" breakfast
Good value for the a good location with clean and spacious rooms. No noise in a very noisy city. It's not right in the middle of the center, but still very workable.
At Asset Hotel I found the staff to be helpfull with directions and efficient .The location has plenty of local restaurants I found small local boutiques with nice clothes at reasonable prices.Found nearby a coffee and pastry shop . Will stay again. I would like to see more variety in the breakfast room.
Very cheap but with all expected amenities: bed, bathroom, air conditioning, tv, clean towels, a safe. Internet available in the lobby, but they make you stand while you use it (presumably to cut down on usage time). Very quiet as it is nestled between tall residential apartment buildings, off the street. Staff offered to get taxis if needed. Metro station (Shanghai Stadium) a 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk. Overall a great deal for USD30 bucks a night. Small rooms, but not by Chinese standards. Window did not have dark curtain, only a light, transparent one. Had to ask room service to clean room the first time, but after that they were on it every day.
I stay at the Jianguo the last fouur years most of the times I am in Shanghai. All in this hotel are good including the location and the flexibility to move everywhere in Shanghai. My only compaint during my stay is that they have considerably limited the smoking area in the lobby restaurant and bar and this is real uncomfortable. This time the room was a little noisy due to the lift being three rooms away. All the others excellent as usual.
Location. Size, - seemed intimate and friendly after the Pudong Shangri-La. Food.
its the mixing between western and east guests/food. Then there is the room rate and the very good location of this fine hotel. I always stay in it, if iam coming to Shanghai. I dont like to stay elsewere
very convenient location
Nothing in particular. Your in room internet service is dishonest and will prevent me from staying there again.
Very nice 4 star hotel, english speaking stuff, great connection with the Metro, air conditioning (late June). no :)
The service of the staff was excellent
Good buffet meals good room service and housekeeping helpfull doormen with taxi and directions and translation
Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast and the fact that breakfast stars from 6.00 a.m. N.A.
We found the staff to be in cahoots with the taxis service at their door to rip off guests. We tried using the red taxis at their door at first but found the drivers smoked while driving us. Decided not to use their service but flag down passing cabs a block away during the rest of our stay. on the last day, we booked a cab from a company recommended by a friend living in Shanghai to pick us up to go to Pudong Airport at a specific time. We came down to the lobby a few minutes early to wait for the cab. We overheard the front desk trying to send our taxi away claiming that they have no guest with our name staying at the hotel. Fortunately, we speak Chinese and was able to foil their attempt to strand us. We were told by our driver that the hotel demands a kick back from taxis picking guest up at the hotel. The front desk and bellhops were generally rude and unhelpful. Stay away from this hotel !
We stayed here for three nights. Superior deluxe room, something like that. Two bedrooms, balcony. The pool is great. There is also a Sauna as well. Took full advantage of the Chinese massage in the basement for 138 yuan, came to about 37 dollars I think. Was very impressed with the quality of the hotel and the professionalism of the staff. I even made friends with the guy in the Lobby, really nice. Say hi to him for me if you stay here. Also, my friend really wanted to eat McDonalds, so he asked them to order McDonalds and they did, they brought it up for us. Really impressed with the quality of this place as far as the price was. I will definitely stay here again. Actually I'm going to Shanghai again soon, so yeah, if the price stays the same, I'll be there.
I've stayed here before on extended business so I was happy to stay here again on this trip. Hotel is very clean and in a good neighborhood with lots to see and do. Staff is friendly and try their best to be helpful. The apartment suites are great.
I was very disappointed with this hotel, first, 2.5 star most, no kitchen as said, very dirty on the floor, customer service is worse, I was waiting for Airline deliver my luggage, very tired can't sleep, keep calling bell service about the deliver status, no one answer the phone for 2 hours, I called the oprater for front desk, she said front desk is not handle luggage questions, until after 12:15 AM, I have to sleep, bagged the operator to let me talk to front desk since I can't hold bell desk, the front desk found the bell person asked about my luggage, and my luggage was there long time ago with no one call up to my room to me know, I will never ever stay this hotel again!
Good Hotel i love hotel Thanx for best sevcices
The staff is good, They only give one towel and one pillow per room. If you want more, you need to request for it. The shower is clean, for a low price hotel in China which is a pleasent supprise.
Overall the hotel is pretty good. But rooms are really small. Hardly any space left to put your luggage. Staff is friendly & helpful but speak very little or almost no English. Breakfast at the coffee shop is a big no-no but their lunch & dinner a la carte menus are ok. What I like about this place is they have a massage palour until 2am daily:-)! Cheap & good. \n\nOne more thing: many taxi drivers have not heard of the hotel so make sure you have the hotel's business cards in hand. You need to give the street name and its cross street.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom and we found just that. Two bedrooms with a 6 foot hall connecting them and a bathroom at the end of the hall. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if we had kids. The funny thing is we called to make sure it was what it said it was, we just assumed that there would be a couch or some sort of sitting room. The bathroom stunks of urine so bad, I cringed when I had to use it, we definately kept the door shut. It still stunk even after the cleaners came. I don't think they used any chemical to clean. I am not a super picky person, but I do like clean and I like it when things don't stink of urine. I did my homework and read all of the reviews and they all say how clean this place is. Maybe I need to go and stay in a cheaper hotel. I would definately upgrade next time and stay at a nicer place. I would only recommend this place to someone on business who will only sleep here, because the price is not bad. Hope this helped.
We stayed 7 nights. The first 4 nights were upgraded to a 2-bedroom suite, like a fully equiped apt with kitchen, wash machine, a study, dining table and a large sitting room with two belconies. They didn't charge extra. But you need to borrow the kitchen equipments, dishes, utensils and pots are not provided. The last 3 nights, we got what we paid for, 2-bedroom with queen size beds, 2 extra closets and a bathroom. The rooms are tight but sufficient. As you enter the room, the bedrooms are a couple steps away with a small hallway. It's on a good and convenient location, with different types of stores nearby. The better restaurants are a couple of blocks away. It's definitely worh the money considering how expensive other hotels are in Shanghai. It has a restaurant but we didn't eat there. It also has message facility in the lower level, inexpensive and provides good service.
I had stay in this hotel for more than 2 weeks and is a really enjoyable experience. The staffs are helpful and friendly. Housekeeping will call everyday at about 4pm if they had not made the room. (I had left a do not disturb sign at my door) Very good service standard. \n\nRoom is very new and pleasant. \n\nI really enjoy my stay in this hotel and will be back to stay again if I am in Shanghai.
The front desk was very friendly and helpful - not everyone was fluent in English, but there was always someone available to interpert for us if we needed additional help. I found the rooms a little on the small side, yet very clean, and the beds were very firm. It seems like the Chinese like their matteress hard and for me that was good, but if you like your bed soft, this could be a problem. The shower had good power and was roomy - although it drained very slow and did become clog. When we reported the clog it was fixed the same day as it was reported. The bathroom also had a washing machine (no dryer) we did not do our own laundry while we were there but we did send laundry out to be done and was pleased with the results - everything was clean and nothing had shrunk... We had pre-paid for our stay and I was surprised that we were required to put a deposit down based on how many days we were staying; yet, whenever we ate meals a tab was kept as well as the cost for our laundry servi...
Facility - Pictures shown on the internet do not reflect current condition of hotel, but hotel is generally very clean. Seems to me 3-star at best. Rooms are really small. Bedroom wall had obvious signs of water damage, and the beds are very hard (I found out that is the norm in China). We got a ''superior'' 2-bedroom suite, which was really just the 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The beds basically took up the entire bedrooms, so you have nowhere to sit but on the bed. Shower stall was small and not sealed properly, so you cannot take a real shower without flooding the bathroom area. Water temperature constantly flipped between cold and very hot during your shower. The sole sink was in the bathroom, so if someone is in the shower, another cannot brush teeth while waiting. Amenities - Restaurant was not impressive. On-site spa and indoor pool operational, though we did not use them. Staff - Friendly and helpful. Not very proficient in English, so I am not sure how the service would be if I d...
Great location away from the downtown madness, beautiful old building, easy to get around cause the metro station is around the corner. You are in Shanghai, but away from Shanghai at the same time. Unlike the booking.com website says, they do accept MasterCard and the wired internet is free.
quiet street, allowed me to check in early at 8 AM, very close to subway, and close to a Starbucks
the comfortable environment. wide tv programme selection. the night staff was not very friendly in explaining my questions.
Very good location near metros and Shanghai Nan station. Quite neigbourhood in French Concession where the atmosphere of Old Shanghai is still very present. My 4th stay at Anting Villa, will certainly stay there again.
I have stayed at Fenyang GBH several times. The main reason is the excellent location (I really like this area, but others might prefer the Bund or bars on Hengshan Road). The garden surrounds are pleasant. The internet is getting better at this hotel, but is still unstable. Food at the hotel is not for me, but there are many options close by. The mattress is too firm for me. Being a state owned enterprise, customer service is not a strong point, though various staff will provide reasonable service when asked.
