Overall this hotel provides top-notch service and is conveniently located in the beautiful Dupont Circle/Embassy Row area. The rooms are upscale, comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom design lacks privacy (frosted glass walls) and the window treatments (plantation shutters) are not room-darkening enough for anyone wishing to sleep in beyond sunrise.
Love the location, decor, bar and fantastic rooms. N/A
Location A faulty hairdrier
The clean, modern design of the facilities and the room. The room was really hot at night and we couldn't open the windows.
The Quite and the comfort and access to shops No, It was very pleasure to stau in Dupont hotel and I will come back
was a new, clean, modern hotel in an excellent location - easily accessible by car, public transport and walking distance from many great restaurants and breakfast cafes. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Although we had read the terms and conditions in advance and notified of our requirement for an extra bed for a child, this was not arranged for and required some negotiating with the staff before this was taken care of. We ended up in a room that was spacious, but quite loud as the hotel's air conditioning was right next to our room. Some of the cost information on the Booking.com website did not correspond to reality, e.g. parking or cost for extra bed.
Good value for money, close to Georgetown and metro Noisy aircon
Big beds, room actually turned out to be what was pictured, free internet, door/parking staff and maids all very courteous, no loud or rowdy guests or noise, plenty of space in the room, big tile shower, big flat tv, allowed us to check into room and park super early without question or fee, great location on DuPont circle for walking to destinations, restaurants and people watching. The toilet is basically beside the bed behind a glass door and there is no fan, pick any corner of the room you are in right now then imagine your romantic partner going to the bathroom right in front of you in that corner for a better idea of this mutually embarrassing set up, the shower 'door' is a two foot wide sheet of glass beside the toilet, everything gets soaked when you shower, the a/c is either cold or hot, heat is very musty smelling, we ran a/c entire time to avoid musty heat smell, it never turns off, wi-fi went out first day had to use 3 ft cord for remainder of stay, a small fridge or microwave would have been nice, you can't keep food/drinks cold or reheat leftovers, makes me sick to eat out every meal.
fabulous concierge. Terrific and easy location
A wonderful hotel with really nice rooms. Absolutely close to the metro stop. Very friendly and helpful staff.
I received a complimentary upgrade which was fabulous.
Great location, very trendy, rooftop pool and bar excellent! Parking a little pricey, small but clean (and cute) rooms
Ideal location. Some issues with the AC. It was ok, just not ideal.
Nothing Small room and very noisy
Very cool rooftop pool and bar geared towards adults with excellent live DJ. Gay-friendly atmosphere. Clean and modern furnishings. Fun, young vibe. Service could have been more professional. Hotel seemed understaffed. Pool area needs more lounge chairs as seating was very limited. Rooftop bar offerings were limited and bartender skill was somewhat below expectations for such a cool space.
Embassy Row is a gorgeous area to stay. The interior design aesthetic was fun and well done! It was easy to relax and feel comfortable. The "Adult Rec Room" was a fun detail as well. Never did I see the staff without a smile. They were eager to help with everything from handling wet umbrellas to dining recommendations . Very close to the Metro, so navigating was a breeze. The A/C is loud inside the rooms. (But only a problem if you're a light sleeper.)
It was a beautiful hotel, and the staff was very friendly. There were no ice machines, the wifi never worked the whole time we were there and they charged you for it. We had to call maintenance 4 times because AC would not turn off.
The Embassy Row is a trendy well-decorated hotel in a modern style, recently renovated. Excellent location, nice rooftop with small pool. Good food on rooftop... they have a limited selection but only $10 for each item at the grill. The staff seemed confused at every turn whenever we asked a question, particularly about pool access. They were friendly but unclear. The hotel charged us an extra $10 per day for amenities without fully explaining this ahead of time. When we asked about this upon check-out, front desk staff said it is for wi-fi, rooftop, fitness center, etc. Why is that not just included in the nightly rate? Also, parking is very expensive ($45/night).
The renovation & new decor is pretty much complete! The hotel looks beautiful! The facility is great, comfy, and has a lot to offer. Our stay was okay and went smoothly. The young man who checked us out on Sunday was super friendly and very nice! (wish we would've had him at check in) Check in at 1am was a bit rough and staff was not very friendly. Being giving some information or offer of any help or to answer questions would have been nice. Knowing about the breakfast foods in the AM would have made things a little nicer also.
The beds were very comfortable. I wish there was a mini fridge in the room and the room need better lighting.
This hotel has just been totally renovated, it is literally steps away from a metro station (key in DC). I stayed here at the last minute recently and will be back.
The beds were very comfortable, the decor is very stylish and the staff couldn't have been more welcome and helpful. The perfect place to stay in DC near great restaurants, the metro, cool neighborhood. Will stay again!
Beautiful and clean We were given a handicapped room and the bathroom facilities made it difficult to shower and relax. We were also told there was no charge on parking when booking and then charged.
I liked the quality presentation of authentic art deco style. N/A
location near the Metro and good neighborhood. This was our second stay at the Carlyle and would go back again.
Art in the lobby was DC-centric and kind of cool kitchenette room is not worth the money, plus the coffee maker had stale nasty water in it!
We heard a dog barking and were immediately moved to a lovely room. The concierge helped us try to get a taxi under very difficult circumstances.
The decor was pleasing and the rooms were comfortable
Quiet and nice
very helpful staff parking --too few spaces
We were close to all attractions and the staff was great!!!
Nice room, great location, enjoyable breakfast priced right
Rooms are clean ; relatively quiet, nice staff Under construction Quinoa oatmeal everytime in breakfast buffet
The convenience, staff and rooms were all outstanding. Clean, spacious.
Location was great for business, dining and nightlife. Current renovations took away, but it's something that has to be done. Besides the construction the place was nice, quiet and was within walking distance to many businesses, restaurants and nightlife as well as tourist attractions.
Not a bad location from the White House. Cleanly, friendly staff, and have a bag check-in. Room felt "stuffy." You can hear some traffic and sounds from the nearby college.
the renovations are finished the location is good the price was still right the walls are thick and I've never heard my neighbors free breakfast isn't included anymore will the price start to rise as people discover this place?
Very clean, comfortable, and modern. It is currently under construction in the hotel lobby, but it was never bothersome to us. We could not hear it even from the elevator! Great place to stay
The location was great. Close to Georgetown, Dupont Circle and a reasonable distance to the mall. The restaurant served a good breakfast. Large comfortable room. We arrived near midnight. The valet parking at that hour is handled by a rather rude and indifferent man in a security guard uniform. Check in was rather slow. WiFi is extra.
Was hair in my ice tray but it was a peaceful stay.
Perfect location for us, near Dupont Circle. Large room, clean, kitchenette, very comfortable bed, L'Occitane toiletries. Good Happy Hour menu in bar, Nice stay.
The location was great. In the center of the DC business district with food and shops everywhere. Close to the national mall. It's a hike but a doable walk. Not as advertised. The suite was nowhere near as luxurious as advertised. There was constitution within the hotel that I was not notified about. Room prices should not have been $200 per night plus parking with the construction. Room had an outdated feel. I would love to stay again in a few years when they gut and renovate the entire hotel.
The lobby was beautiful and inviting.
Whenever I'm in DC, (once or twice a year) I always stay at the St. Gregory. It's centrally located in the Hub of DC action with convenient public transportation to anywhere within walking distance from the front door. Love the food, drink, and freindly smiles and banter of the doormen. The computer equipment in the business center can use some updating though.
Have stayed here frequently for conferences and vacations. It is an older hotel which is constantly updated. But the rooms are not cookie cutter. Some have wonderful nooks and crannies and walkin closets. There is valet parking. The staff are ver accommodating and friendly. Location is fabulous. Not far from a metro station. Restaurant and bar in the hotel.
Spacious rooms, very friendly staff, excellent location, comfortable bed. One elevator (of two) didn't work; the coffee was bad.
Great location. Great customer service.
Great location and accommodation . Personable staff. If I had to find a weakness it would be too very small elevators
the front desk staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was wonderful.
The location and comfort. The hotel had wi fi problems and did not communicate this fact. At the check in I was given the incorrect wi fi address. it could have been corrected. Also, I have stayed at the Churchill multiple times. Someone on the staff could have said hello. Finally, the printer in the lobby did not work.
Got no parking and they charge 46 $ for car over night To much
Art, shower Free coffee in lobby needed!
Friendly, helpful staff; great location, spacious room, well appointed and comfy. Overall good pic! Room too hot, useless thermostat, too much light at night. Bring a sleep mask
Very warm and welcoming front desk staff. Great location. Well appointed rooms and spacious Nothing comes to mind.
Spacious room located across the street from our conference The heat in the room was stuck on and the thermostat didn't do anything. Had to leave the windows open to be bearable in the room.
I loved the room and the cleanliness...the comfort of the bed..overall great... the fact that there was no tub mat in the bathroom. Tub very slippery. as a business traveler my flight was late and when I got to the hotel there was no restaurant or room service.. on my floor there were not even vending machines to purchase soft drinks..
Beautiful and spacious room with a wonderful view (although admittedly I was on the top floor on the right side of the building). Excellent location and some great restaurants nearby. The room key magnetization system didn't work well and the staff were not spectacularly efficient.
Great location. Comfortable and stylish accommodations.
The Fairfax is a very nice hotel; terrific, terrific location close to many great restaurants and the Metro, extremely comfortable room, very accommodating staff. A completely positive experience (as always--I have stayed here before).
This hotel was close to everything and the staff was awesome! Highly recommend staying here! I will be back!
The Fairfax at Embassy Row exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were well-trained, courteous and extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom had a great shower, and two morning newspapers were provided. The concierge recommended a monthly event at the nearby Phillips Collection, which happened to coincide with our stay. The hotel has a great location, near the Metro and scores of restaurants and shopping. We were very impressed with the hotel and would definitely return.
The staff at the reception were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I think they deserve a thumbs up :)
Location on Embassy row is amazing. It's right around the Australian Embassy, India Embassy, Trinidad & Tobago Embassy and several others. It's also within walking distance to several eateries and DuPont circle. The drain in the bath tub would clog when I took a shower. The cable TV selection was spotty and I had to go down to the bar to watch Monday night football. Some of the wall paper is old and coming off of the wall. but other then that, no major complaints.
Very warmly welcomed. The air conditioner was very noisey
Location to the metrorail system. no
The hotel is ideally located in that it is walking distance to the White House and the Washington Monument. The room was also nicely appointed and clean. The staff was very nice and responsive. Service was on par with a 5 star experience. We booked the premier room through Kayak. The room we were give. Was TINY - e.g. distance between dresser and the bed was probably less than 2 feet. If I were a solo traveler, this would not have been a problem. However, with a toddler, this became an immediate safety concern. We upgraded to a deluxe room.
The location at 21st and M is great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cookies at check in were delicious! The property seemed to be under some type of renovation. So, from the outside, parts of the hitem seemed to be out of commission. The room was fine. But the hallway was almost exclusively grey and dated.
The room was tiny and a dump. It was dusty, I was sick all night. The hotel is in need of a major renovation.
We arrived in town earlier than expected and we were allowed to check in very early with no trouble.
A satisfying choice-well appointed, good sized rooms. Comfy bed. Good location to Foggy Bottom and Georgetown
good friendly service
Walking distance to Mall and Georgetown Nothing
Nice early check in. Clean and comfy beds. Expensive. Lack of free wifi is annoying
To get to the included internet was very confusing without asking. Al the other options had an extra cost.
We had an excelent stay at Marriot.... We enjoyed But...... 5 minutes after we leave the room, my wife left an expensive blouse in the room... I personally hanged out the blouse in the closet...so I went back to pick it up.... sadly I couldn't find it..... the staff came to the room..... But nothing of blouse was there.... that evening in our family meeting my wife didnt know what to wear.... So sad.... No time to shopping that day. So, Next time you leave you room in this Hotel.... you know what to do before close the door ....
staff was very friendly room was very musty smelling hotel seemed a little worn and rundown
The staff was great, chipper and friendly and always responsive to any requests. Great location for exploring DC. Loved that breakfast vouchers could be swapped for cocktail vouchers. Also enjoyed evening happy hour with wine in the lobby (and pets welcome) as a nice get-together. Breakfast buffet was good, but same-y without much variety. Room was quite small.
Localization Staff do not always react for your requests.
Front desk staff were all very profesionnal and provided great service with smile ! Nice room, bathroom a little bit small. Perfect location. Nice rooftop bar. Poor breakfast. Wifi should be complimentary.
I was able to check in early. There was no hair conditioner or body lotion. Staff repeatedly told me that they would look into a problem and didn't follow up.
Very nice room, clean & well equipped, decent location
The location, the friendly staff, the price, size of the room. It's an affordable hotel in the heart of the city, it is what is advertised... nothing negative to say
Honestly, I was in the hotel just to sleep for one night and Sid not use any facilities or services. Check-in/check-out was a breeze, from desk staff very friendly and efficient, housekeeping staff friendly and accommodating. No gym on premises.
Great food and location! wheather was bad but hotel's location is so good and restaurants are good around there. A little dirt below the bed.
The excellent restaurant with good cuisine and fair prizes The parking lot was full all weekend. The signs in front of the hotel weren't clear to us (foreigners): we thought there were no parking restrictions but we got a ticket
Location Room has a smell, and did not feel clean.
The front desk staff was very friendly, and rooms are beautiful! I liked the walk ability of the area, with a little stretch to walk to Georgetown or the mall before returning to a luxe lobby and beautiful room.
Service was excellent. Nice bed. Room was large. Very tiny bathrooms! Very noisy at times. Congested lobby.
The hotel was fine, staff was very nice. The bed was just really awful.
- Spacious room with nice modern design. Friendly staff. - Wonderful food from room service, provided by the restaurant next door Firefly. - Tiny tinny bathroom. We expected small bathroom after reading the reviews but didn't expect that you could hardly close the bathroom door if someone is sitting on the toilet. - Weak Wi-Fi signals in my room and it's not free. The hotel did graciously refund the Wi-Fi charges after our complaint. - Lower floor rooms facing the street could get noisy at night due to foot traffic and restaurant activities.
Clean, modern, nice staff. Good location. Very walkable. A bit far from the metro but not too much
Staff was very friendly. Beautiful atmosphere. Comfortable beds. Balcony door was broken, and no one came to see it despite my attempts to have it fixed. Very unsafe and unprofessional.
Great location! Polite and friendly staff. Wonderful restaurant!! Spacious room, and a very comfortable bed.
The Hotel Madera was perfectly located for walking as well as catching the Dupont Circle Metro stop. Lots of nearby shops and restaurants. Rooms were clean and spacious. The entire hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
-Courteous and friendly staff -Fantastic location -Well-appointed, clean, and spacious room -Ice water dispensers filled with lemons and limes by the entrance (neat feature on 90+ degree days!) -Soft sheets and comfortable bed -Cool restaurant in the lobby -Stone's throw from the Dupont metro station -Great value and will stay here again! -No complaints!!
Staff was wonderful Bathroom soap system is cheap
Friendliness of staff, location No help getting up stairs with luggage. Poor TV offerings.
Small clean room, comfortable bed. I would stay here again.
Location very convenient, Staff very professional and friendly. Hotel very clean The elevator doors difficult to use and the rooms a bit small
Not at all what was advised. Don't stay here
Nice room service Lift was very old, breakfast was not good after paying $5, don't have a bothtob. We paid $125 after tax per night for the double bed room, I don't know what we should expect for that price. We stayed for 5 nights.
The room was clean. Cigarette smoking washing in front of the entrance from the connected bar. Would be nice if smokers smoked somewhere other than the front door to the hotel. A little expensive too.
The bar underneath the hotel was the best thing about this stay. It is also close to the circle and the metro. The keys had to be replaced at least once a day. And if you can in later than 9 there was no one at the front desk to help replace the keys.
I book hotel for my parents as it's walking distance from embassy. They said stuff was friendly Room was tiny and old. Food in restaurant wasn't delicious.
The location is very convenient to tour DC. Parking a rental car is a bit of work because they only have street parking for a few cars in front of the hotel. the restaurant in the basement has great beer and food bar food entrees. The staff are nice people. I appreciated chatting with them. Other good restaurants and Starbucks near y. Difficult car parking. A bit old. Rooms a bit small. The elevator with manual door. These inconveniences were worth it to get the price and good location.
The Baron was just right for my son and I. From the old-fashioned elevator to the comfy beds and clean room, we loved it! The rooms are small, probably wouldn't be as comfortable for a family, but it was perfect for us. Our check-in clerk was helpful and friendly on Sunday night. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay there was a different clerk and he wasn't friendly or helpful. My son and I kept wishing the other guy would be there! If you like the conveniences of a newer, chain hotel, you won't be happy. No ice machine, old elevator, small rooms.
The only positive part of my stay was leaving the morning after. The hotel is extremely outdated in style, functionality and accommodations. After driving around for 45 minutes looking for parking we finally checked in. At check in, they charged me another $15 for taxes. Taxes based off of the Booking.com charge plus their taxes. The room started at $75 and jumped to $109 after the website fees and taxes, then $125 after the hotel taxes!! After trying to squeeze through the 60 year old elevator doors (I'm not a big guy) we made our way to our room through the hallway tilting toward the stairwell. Once we got to our room is was just as cold as it was outside (25*) and it was the most pathetic looking hotel room I've ever paid for. I can't believe I spent over $40 for this. The heater tried to keep the room warm all night but it was not doing so and it was extremely loud. Our bed had to be the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on. I considered sleeping on the floor to be more comfortable. I was charged for a "Queen" room which clearly stated a queen sized bed. We definitely did not have a queen sized bet, double at most. After not sleeping at all that night, we left just as early as the sun came up. I told the employee at checkout about the bed and his response was "I'll have to tell my manager it was uncomfortable". If you are in DC, AVOID this hotel at all costs. Our second night in DC we found a 4 star hotel and paid even less! I would love my money back for our visit but I have a feeling that won't ever happen.
I loved the staff who were very friendly and helpful. I also loved how the sink was outside from the toilet and shower. That's a huge plus for me! The pillows were not that good. They only give 3 pillows for each bed and they are not the best. I would advise getting new and better pillows. The tv can also be updated. It should be bigger and a little more in the smart side.
I was giving a handicap room with a view of a brick building - no view.
The room was nice. It was good to have the sink area separate from the shower area. The staff was nice and tried very hard to be accommodating. Parking as a hotel guest is very expensive and if you forget something in your car you have to be a size 0 to fit into the area they store it. You have to pay (a lot) for any kind of meal at the hotel. It is 3+ blocks from the Metra station, far from any kind of economy dining, and far from just about anything you would want to do in D.C. Every time you turn around someone is waiting for a tip. Since we walked so much we realized that there were a number of hotels closer to all the sights. This is a nice hotel, but if/when we go again we will stay somewhere closer to Metro and/or the sights and family eateries.
Everything was great. Restaurant didn't have the. Eat options of food.
the location was perfect for us, is perfect for someone who wants to visit the Old City! the room wasn't clean at all, you need to check under the beds.
Staff and restaurant are great! On the building signage, room 417 is not listed, but it is an actual room. Just walk around a little bit and you will find it.
A Kimpton stay is always worth savoring and the Topaz is no exception. Conveniently located on a quiet street just a block away from Du Pont Circle, its plethora of restaurants and Red Line metro stop, couldn't be better positioned. One of Kimplton's older properties in DC, its age is beginning to show but the rooms remain very comfortable with well functioning AC (important in this city) and comfy beds and linens. The people at a Kimpton are always the best, and the Topaz staff don't disappoint with helpful tips and recommendations and a willingness to pursue whatever you need. The tight lobby and now fading décor reflect the early days of Kimpton's rapid expansion in the District. The Topaz is a very intimate, boutique hotel that fits in well with the quiet residential neighborhood. Rooms are surprising spacious and physically comfortable, but well-worn and in need of an overall rehab with an attention to technology and access to electric and USB outlets, particularly around the desk (where you still need to crawl under to plug in your computer!). All said, I'd easily stay here again for its convenient location when the price is right.
the location is near where my son lives- walking distance The air conditioning (rm902) seemed un able to bring the temperature of the whole space down. The layout puts much of the room a long distance to the cooling air. The sink in the bathroom leaves little space for the toiletries.
The room was extremely spacious and the front desk staff was very accommodating. I also like the general ambience of the hotel. Front desk comped my minibar purchase because of the door issues. I was disappointed by the level of upkeep associated with my room. The entry door was clearly broken. You had to yank hard and really slam the door to get it to shut and stay locked. My housekeeper left my room door wide open after servicing the room one night so I came back to an open door. All of my belongings could have been stolen but luckily everything was there. The AC unit wasn't functioning properly so the room temp was a bit hot. The lighting in the vanity area was burned out. Could have been great but this really took away from the experience. Also no HBO
Location, staff was friendly, room was spacious and luxurious. Price was good value for the area. Wish I could have checked in before 3pm, but they did try to accommodate me.
This place was so cute. Stayed here on an extended vacation after a business trip. My boyfriend met me out here and it was such a cute little hotel. Rooms are a little smaller but if you get the delux you should be fine. Staff was A++++, very friendly, there is even a complimentary wine hour! Would stay again! Wish there was a bathtub but the bathroom was very chic so I didn't mind.
It reminds me of France, has the most comfortable beds, and offers a free wine hour every day!
Hotel stay was wonderful everything is pretty close to the hotel and everyone is very nice.
Comfy and cozy room with a spacious shower. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Parking is an issue as it is scarce and only for two hours. You WILL be ticketed if you park longer. If you are not a DC resident, brush up on your parking rules for the city!
Nice room, staff was excellent. I will definitely return.
Close walk to several restaurants, generally clean and well-maintained, good for one-night trips Breakfast cost extra, website said the hotel had parking (which would cost extra) but when it seems the parking deck was closed and I had to park on the street, the lights to half my room didn't work because of a circuit issue which should have been discovered before I checked in, no counter space or shelving in the shower
I loved the staff - great restaurant suggestions and very knowledgeable about the area. Also off the street outdoor tables and happy hour were a nice touch. The room we were in was a little warn, although it was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside!
The nicest staff. Great location. The rooms were charming and clean.
-Free wifi -pet friendly -location -bathrooms -directv -breakfast overpriced -small rooms -mattresses ok
I enjoyed the complementary coffee and water in the room. The lobby area was comfortable and they had complementary wine and cheese by the fire place from 5-6pm. These were great amenities. The espresso machine worked but was a little inconsistent.
Overall, a wonderful hotel. Nice thick walls so that noise doesn't travel. The shower was big enough for 2 people. A nice breakfast ($12. pp) which saved us from having to go out. Parking wasn't included and street parking was only for 2 hours until the evening.
Much quieter than we expected, given its location. Lobby is kinda cramped. Parking is pricey.
Super friendly staff and great breakfast experience. Super attentive staff when needed extra towels, etc. Leaky faucet in sink in kitchenette. Dual outlet only really one outlet. Had to choose CPAP over reading light.
