I was so blessed by Xiamen air this trip. I was going to crash overnight in the Xiamen airport on an 11 hour layover :groan: While I was looking for a comfortable looking spot of floor, I was informed that Xiamen provides a free room in their business hotel for guests who are on layover. The only thing I had to pay for was the 28 kuai (read:super cheap) taxi to the hotel. Amazing!
I liked the A300 used is was in very nice condition and the leg room was reasonable. The cabin crew was above average. The pilots were smooth on take off and landing.
The departure gate announcements in English were hard to understand. The landing jetway was used to disembark, but then we had to use stairs to the tarmac and board a bus to get from the domestic terminal (we were an international flight) to the international terminal. Because of this many passengers, especially the elderly, were unprepared for this situation and their carry on luggage.
The KLM staff that were assigned to this flight were incompetent. After telling them I was flying with Etihad and I had a 30kg limit the told me to unpack my bag to reduce them to 23kg. I did this 3 times, and then at final weighing they figured out I was right and that I could board with 30kg. Morons!
My seat..... No row in front of it.
Crew were excellent. Friendly and professional
Had a TVs show I've been wanting to see, Blackish, which we don't get in the Uk
Choice of films. I've seen a lot of them and the rest were awful
Why do flights always serve chocolate biscuits, chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake? Strawberries, carrots and humous, grapes, olives, would make a nice alternative for example.
Hot food boring, tasteless
I found the crowded squashed seating very uncomfortable, , the 380 from Dubai to UK was wonderful, the relaxed atmosphere was great, more leg room, and the staff were extremely pleasant, not sure I want to fly in a 777 again terribly claustrophobic .
The legroom was the worst I've seen in a long time. I'm 6' tall and my knees hit the seat in front of me. Seats would also not recline. Crew was not particularly friendly or welcoming. Food was pretty mediocre. Both my partner and I had to ask for replacement headphones as the initial sets given were not working. My partner was on crutches and, though told she could get priority boarding, this was not followed up on by the crew and she had to deal with the normal jostling.
Good legroom, flight not full so room to spread out
We were forced to sit in the aircraft for 2 hours before takeoff without explanation. This is now standard airline/airport strategy to get people out of the way and out of the boarding areas when they are running behind. Unacceptable and should be resisted.
Food was simply awful; which is a shame for a national airline of a country known for its great cuisine.
Some members of the crew were really nice, but we had one on each leg of the flight that were so rude to passengers. On the KUL-BKK leg, one male crew member was really loud and obnoxious, and on the BKK-KUL leg, one female crew member was yelling at some older passengers who were a little slow in boarding.
food is good, and boarding might also be ok. that is it :/
services in board the plane was very bad. This includes: (seats, bad smell and not function bathroom, crew service is bad when flight is off the ground, broken sealing). in general the airplane is very old as usual.
The company that Kayak use for my ticket (Yayama) had some random passport number on my reservation. The ticket agent told me that I had to call to travel agent to get it changed. I tried to call three times (from China) and all three time I was put on hold to 10 to 15 minutes then disconnected. I finally got someone at the service desk to call the airline and get the passport number correct. This added over an hour to my check in process. Luckily, I arrive early and was able to make the flight, no help from Yayama. Terrible!!!!
Some payment fees are estimated. Not all providers support all payment methods.
