Great last-minute rental
Pros: I was able to get an excellent rate at the last minute. The customer service at pick-up and drop-off was fast and friendly. The car was clean and in great shape.
Cons: The car was Canadian so the speedometer was in kilometers instead of miles, which was a bit confusing at first.

Shares office kiosk with other rental agencies
Pros: The fuel economy of this car was excellent.
Cons: Rental kiosk was confusing as it was shared space with two other rental agencies.

Cons: The car had a bad smell in it for a little while when I first got it.

Late night drop off
Cons: When I picked up the car I notified 2 different staff members in Philadelphia of existing damages and I took pictures of same. Hoping that the documentation of damage prior to taking possession will be adequate to avoid charges for preexisting damages.
Pros: We rented it through my girlfriend's debit card, and the amount that they put a hold on was released a few days later as promised. Pickup and dropoff were smooth, the car was very clean and the representatives were friendly except for the dropoff lady.
Cons: The lady who accepted the car at the drop off at JFK wasn't the nicest as she asked us what the scratch on the right side of the car was all about in a judgmental way. It had been there all along and it was even marked on the car figure that was attached to the keychain. After a long trip I would have expected to see a nicer greeting from a Hertz employee.

Pros: long lines to drop the keys and contract. and the contract was not on the computer. We had to call the other day to inform at what time we drop the car. They put the burden of inform on us, after we already returned the car. Worst experience ever

Rental fee raised 4 times
Pros: Car types were sufficient
Cons: The rental fee showed on kayak was 80+ for two days, but I was charged for 320+ when I rent the car at Hertz in the state college airport. I was surprised but the Hertz staffs kept telling me that the fee was for tax blablabla... And I was too tired to bargain.

Cons: The car was not ready when we showed up, and the car was a smaller size than what we reserved. It was a one-way rental, and I was told at my destination that they had never seen a contract like the one I had been issued. It took 24 hours to resolve it.

Hertz is the worst?
Cons: I showed up for my reservation and they didnt have a car for me.... worse, they couldn't issue a refund at the desk. Instead, I had to call Hertz corporate, which was a nightmare.

Pros: Car was nice, ran well and got good mileage
Cons: Car was dirty, salesperson unfriendly and unhelpful, additional charges we weren't warned about were added.
Cons: Only issue was a bit of dog hair left on seat next to me which I am a little allergic to which acted up mid way through the drive.

Cons: There was something wrong with car. I think the transmission was going bad; every time I stopped in traffic and then accelerated again, the car would lurch forward. I was just happy it didn't break down completely.
