the location is excellent but the personal and the service attitude is outstanding we loved being there. it would be ideal to have more space in bedrooms.
I taught the location was perfect, staff where very friendly, room was nice, breakfast was lovely. over priced
We loved the room The Mosquitos in the room at night
Convenience next to the San Angelo vaporetto station. Literally 10 steps! Large bed room. Good breakfast choices. Friendly staff (although some with a chip on their shoulder). Unacceptable pillows (for the money), shower activation requires above average mechanical skill, not all lights were working. Warped carpeting on stairs, broken flooring in the garden breakfast area.
The Hotel was close to the main attractions of San Marco and was located right on the Grand Canal which was lovely. The price vs the room quality really did not compare. I would expect a lot better for the amount I paid for the room. I'm glad I was there only for one night. However, the staff were very friendly and very helpful.
We arrived at 5.30am and the hotel was so simply to find. We got off at San Angelo and just walked a few steps to the right and there was the hotel. Our flight was diverted and we spent the night travelling by train so it was nice not to have to look for the hotel when we got to Venice Drinks from the bar were expensive
Polite, helpful and friendly and perfectly located for exploring the sites of Venice.
The hotel had a fabulous location -- right on the Grand Canal, not far from the Rialto bridge and directly at a Vapparetto stop. We checked in very early and not only was our room ready for us, but they upgraded us to a delux room with a canal view and a large balcony. The room was a decent size, well maintained, and all in working order. The breakfast room is a bit small when weather doesn't permit the use of the outside terrace for breakfast, so you may have to wait a few minutes for a table at breakfast.
Fabulous location as No1 Vaporetto stops on the doorstep, deal for older people and so close to all sights. Views from balconies junior suites are spectacular, ideal for first time visitors to Venice. Rooms are simple as can be expected in most Italian cities, take a portable kettle if you like a cuppa in the morning..no tea-making facilities in Italian hotels.Don't expect to sit on the junior suite balconies they are only tiny and purely decorative. Absolutely loved this hotel much more personal than the other big hotels, classical music piped through the hotel. Very quiet. Breakfast of scrambled egg, sausage and bacon along with other choices. Staff friendly and helpful. No Wi-Fi yet or internet use. Stairway carpets are a bit loose and could be dangerous to older people, also bedroom rugs are a hazard as they slip on the marble, we asked to have ours removed which the staff were more than happy to do. Bed pillows are a bit hard, we asked for extra which were delivered within the hour on the whole the hotel fixed any complaints quickly and always with a smile
Location/View - Right on the Grand Canal in Venice next to a Vaporetta stop. Amazing..... I expected a balcony large enough to sit on but was surprised that it was standing room only. The plus was that the windows provided a great view without having to be on the balcony.
A little bit of luxury!! The interior design was beautiful, the bar/restaurant and bedrooms all were beautifully kept with lovely little details, particularly liked the complimentary drinks and amazing nibbles on arrival! The bed was very comfortable and liked the luxury linen sheets to! Overall a fantastic small boutique hotel.
I liked the style of the hotel; it so modern. I also liked the cleanliness of the hotel. The room was so small and narrow, and the food although was expensive but was not so good.
The staff make this hotel exceptional. They are friendly, knowledgable, and focused on making your stay enjoyable. The breakfast buffet and evening happy hour were exceptional. You may think being a distance from Piazza San Marco is a negative. Just the opposite. The location is perfect. Away from the very crowded center yet close enough to easily (for Venice) get to all the must-see areas. Highly recommend this hotel. There was nothing we did not like.
Attentive and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Room next to lift and some noise when in use. General room lighting a bit low.
Staff very helpfull, room large and clean, design and confortable, very quiet, ideal location, pleased by the welcome ( bottle of Chamapagne!)
beatiful art deco style with spa bath and very convenient to water vaporettos -not cheap but very luxurious
Reception staff very helpful. The breakfasts were very good and having breakfast al fresco was very pleasant. The hotel has been open for 7 years and is at an age when some of the fittings and decorations need renewal or attention. The air conditioning in our room was a little noisy, one of the bathroom lights did not work, and the much-vaunted 'sunrise alarm clock' did not illuminate. There was a 'funny' with the lift doors which meant that sometimes it got stuck on one of the floors, resulting in some long waits. On one day the chambermaid did not leave spare toilet paper.
Friendliness of staff, room and facilities No
great location - near the main attractions but quiet rooms very dark although very comfortable.
A stylish and comfortable hotel well located but away from the crowds - helpful staff - good breakfasts Nothing!
very conveniently located. helpful, efficient staff. big room, very nicely appointed. the price--our frinds stayed at anotherhotel in the sme area that was very nice but much less expensive
The hotel staff could not be more helpful with any questions I had about Venice. The location is excellent for access to the shopping areas and St Marks square just over the Accademia bridge. The rooms did not have tea making facilities but this did not detract from our stay.
The location is wonderful. Heating system and air conditioning are not interchangable. Seriously uncomfortable.
Excellent staff, very helpful Very good value for Venice hotel
Very friendly and efficient staff There was a problem with the heating in our original room but we were moved to another room without any fuss - which is actually a good point!
Very nice and competent staff. Superb location. It is not really a four star hotel. Minimal room size. No available computer to use internet.
The bedroom in our junior suite was enormous and beautifully presented in the traditional style of a Venetian Palazza. Our bathroom on the other hand was pokey and had no full sized bath. For a junior suite I would have expected more.
Since we arrived to the hotel and were asked for our passports, they found out it was the day of my husband's and my birthday. They immediately sent a bottle of champagne and hors d'erves to our room. the young lady at the reception helped us with all of our reservations and was extremely nice. We had such a hard time finding the hotel, it doesn't even have a sign with the hotel name at all, but believe me....now that we know where it is, we will definetly go back to the same place, we loved it!!
the location and staff were great. it was a challenge to get there because the water was high so had to walk with suitcases over several bridges with steps from the grand canal. good referrals for dining nearby. good breakfasts. room was small but clean
For people who like to discover Venice for some days, this hotel is perfectly located. Nearby a Vaporetto station with even a line which brings you directly to the airport. Within some minutes you can easily walk to Rialto bridge or Marcus square. And if you are hungry a great place to eat is just 50 meters away located at campo d'angelo - try restaurant 'acqua pazza'. The hotel is very charming and our room was just great. Fantastic to stay in this 'palazzo-room', especially the beautiful big Murano-lustre was just unbelievable! We loved to stay at this hotel with only less beds. The breakfast buffet was not refilled during the morning. Guests which arrive later in the morning don't have the same choice as guests which are enjoying the breakfast starting at 7 am. There is no computer available to check emails (for those who don't bring a laptop with you nor have a blackberry). Even the hotel is very 'small' the atmosphere is very impersonal, something which could be improved.
This is a gorgeous renovation of a historic palazzo done with great taste and design. The staff is outstanding, kind, helpful, efficient and go above and beyond. The food is way above the average, bountiful, available from 7-10:30. It is on a quiet canal in a peaceful square quickly accessible to direct service to the airport. Yet, within 5 minutes of all the major sites. The only bad points had nothing to do with the hotel or staff but with the Italian hotel industry bureaucracy. The hotel had just opened and the internet clearance had not come through. The staff went out of their way to make their computers available.
Excellent location. Very close to a pier with ferry stops, an easy walk to the San Marco area as well as Rialto Bridge. Our room was a junior suite, which slept 4 and was quite large. Marble floor, upholstered walls, artwork on the walls, it was very nice. Front door of the hotel is right on a canal, which meant the private boat we took to the airport was able to pull right up to the front door and pick us up, like a limo ride on water. Plenty of good restaurants in the area where the locals eat. Staff were a mixed bag. Soome were inattentive, but there was one dark-haired woman who was just fabulous. So nice, full of information and suggestions. I wish I had gotten her name. She worked the day shift. Breakfast was standard italian fare. no real complaints. Possibly their not having a printer to print out boarding passes on. Had to go look for an internet cafe.
Staff were efficient and helpful although there was a problem with our room initially. yes , the hotel should have a clear sign outside as the hotel is difficult to find and the hotel road? number should be lit.
location right on the Grand Canal by vaporetto stop and traghetto crossing the price of the room was very high for its size and outlook
Everything. The room was exceptional in every way. The hotel itself was truly amazing and in a fabulous location. You werent too close to the tourist areas in that you had the peace and quiet, but in easy walking distance to the tourist areas - I truly had the best of both worlds. The staff were brilliant also.
Everything - Terrace on the Grand Canal
The most elegant hotel we ever stayed at. Authentic renovation, beautiful decoration, attention to detail, exquisite breakfast. Truly a 5 star establishment. N/a
Beautiful building in a very good location. Fairly quiet, but reasonably close to centre. Very friendly and helpful staff, and a well designed triple room which afforded more privacy than many.
Perfect access to Ca Rezzonico vaparetto stop- about 25 metres from hotel door. Elegant beautifully presented rooms in a well refurbished Palazzo. where everything was new and well appointed. The internet acces was out of order for 3 days during stay. The rooms had very high-tec features and no instructions provided, e,g, jacuzzi in bath and room temperature control.
Absolut extraordinary hotel . It is a must if you se Venice . Great Location, and the building is in great condition . 10+ for this hotel . I would recommned this to any one . Great Experience
,staff, adjacent vaporetto stop, location, style. poor lighting inroom
The position of the hotel beside the grand canal. The decoration of the entrance hall. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was rather small for the price of the room and windows looked out on very narrow canal. Prices are expensive in Italy but we felt that the hotel we stayed in in Bologna was much better value for money.
A beautiful, luxury villa in a perfect location in Venice. The upgraded room was such a treat and the morning concierge was so helpful. Unfortunately, we didn't realize the drain in the jaccuzi tub didn't work and by the time they fixed it, it was too late to use
The location on the Grand Canal was very nice. They had a beautiful patio there. There was also a waterbus stop just at the hotel. The room for which I paid over $400 per night was a small cell with a very high window which was useless. Told me this was their "standard room." For 50 Euro more they found me a "superior room". It had a window, but looked over a flat rooftop into a wall. Find out about the room before booking.
Convenient location, helpful staff, clean updated room, no complaints pricey for the room decor, but so were many of the hotels in Venice
This hotel is close to the water bus stop which makes it an easy access location.
The location close to the rain station the value of the Rome so reasonable not far from the milan center The breakfast need to improve
It was very convenient to all the major sites. It was a lovely quiet area overlooking main canal. Just the price of drinks in their bar did not intice you to stay and drink there.
Immaculate hotel in superb location with very helpful and friendly staff at all times
The location. The friendly staff. Rooms were beautifully decorated. Loved that the water taxi would let you off at the entrance. Very convenient location to the water bus as well.
great hotel, great location and a great buffet breakfast
Lovely , well functional room Desk staff a little too aloof, but general staff very helpful and pleasant
Great location and the staff were very helpful.
Staff very accommodating when we wanted to add a night to our stay. Breakfast buffet very good with lots of fresh fruit, cereals, breads, cafe, eggs and bacon. Location is excellent, accessible to everything mini bar prices 7.50 euro for a coke!
The hotel is very luxurious. We stayed in a junior suite which was fantastic, superbly designed and had great views of the canal. The hotel staff were very attentive yet very discreet. We would highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable, luxurious stay in Venice. You would need to get a water taxi to the hotel (expensive) as trying to get there by foot is extremely difficult and has no signs directing you to hotel which is down little alleyways.
Fantastic location and excellent staff.
This hotel was very close to st marks square and right by the ferry bus stop. This d'hôtel room was quite small and expensive for what was offered.
the staff was nice but not really aware of what was happening in Venise whereas we went there for the Biennale and the Mostra... They did not have any programme or map...
The situation is very beautiful, and the table in the bar on the balcony is a wonderful place to drink in the afternoon. The breakfast is lovely. The room was very dusty, like it hadn't been dusted for weeks. There's no internet access in the room of any kind even though this is promised. "Most of our customers don't want it," I was told. Nonetheless it was promised & I wanted it. We had no hot water for showers: when I enquired about this I was told, "there is a fault," but no alternative was offered. One of the staff members I spoke to (not all, I hasten to add) was very rude and dismissive. He said that as I was only staying for one night these things shouldn't matter; also that as I had spent three nights at another hotel before moving to this hotel for the (what was supposed to me a much better) last night, that I should have stayed where I was. He was so right!
Very intimate and unique.
Beautiful location, friendly staff. Poor bar service, slightly overpriced, but to be expected from the location. Only slight disappointment was dusty rooms with no air conditioning and very hot/stuffy. Apparently the air con is only switched on in summer.
Wonderful Hotel. Arrived hot and bothered but room was ready and nice and cool (thank god for a/c). Helpful friendly staff, very nice breakfast. We booked the Barbarigo for our anniversary and wanted somewhere classy and certainly found it here. Everything is clean and new looking, nice view from the second floor breakfast/bar area, there is even a table and chairs on the balcony for a more intermite meal! Get the Vaparetto to the S. Toma stop and head right, when you reach the little square with some glass shops and the rear enterance is tucked away on the right or alternativly get a private taxi to the front door!
the bathrooms in luxury rooms fantastic . staff were so friendly and very helpful
Tha barman Marco was excellent! Breakfast was basic and room was a bit too dark
Magnificent setting, luxurious room. Service was perfect, attentive without being oppressive. The best hotel we have stayed at in Venice.
Excellent staff and location, nice and quiet. Short walk to major attractions. Lovely garden and courtyards, with its own boat docking, (excellent for taxis). Views of canal from room. Beautiful dining room and lounge, very Venetian. check out time of 12 which is nice. will use again. no lift, so stairs only, but porter carries your luggage
location Room was too cluttered with furniture. Hotel wants to sell everyting (eg wifi access)
The facility was very clean and confortable. Great location near major tourist attractions (15 min walk from Piazza San Marco) The staff was very friendly and helpful with any queries we had. They booked a baroque concert for one night and informed us about discounts in a couple local restaurant/bar. The breakfasts were very good with a variety of options for everyone's taste... and excellent price considering that it was right during the Carnival and for Valentine's day weekend. We had a lovely stay and will definitely recommend this hotel.
Beautiful location, good staff, very nice hotel Very poor hair-drier
The room was beautiful, breakfast great, location fantastico! Climbing three flights of stairs
The staff was very friendly and informative. They quickly tell you about the facilities of the hotel as soon as you check in, and give you a map of the city identifying the key lamdmarks and places to visit. The ambience of the hotel was excellent! Directions to the hotel from the nearest drop-off point, which is the Accademia.
We loved everything about this aristocratic hotel. It was so photogenic, quiet, and beautiful. We found our room to be comfortable and lovely. The breakfast was in a elegant room full of antiques, The food was very good with great coffee, juices, fruits, breads, eggs, etc. The location was away from the mobs of tourists but easy to get to,and it was easy to walk or take the vaporetto to other parts of Venice. We arrived by the Alilaguna at the Zattere stop. It was then a very easy walk of about five minutes to the hotel. We departed by water taxi from the front courtyard. The Accademia area around this hotel is interesting and there is so much to explore. It is scenic and much quieter than the St. Mark's area. We loved everything!!!
Friendly and professional staff, quiet and comfortable room, very clean, hearty breakfast. This hotel is located in Dorsoduro, which is quieter and less crowded than the San Marcos or Rialto areas, where most of the attractions are. However, an able bodied person can easily walk to these areas and can even walk to the train station if needed. Plus, there are many good restaurants nearby. This hotel appears to be well managed as evidenced by its well disciplined staff and orderly facilities. Very glad I stayed here. Nothing.
Pensione Accademia meet all my expectations. The smallish single that I had was comfortable, well appointed and had everything that I needed after the willing staff made some requested furnishing changes. The staff went out of their way to please and make me comfortable. The pensione is located nicely on a smaller canal just before it runs into the Grand Canal. There was some disturbing early morning horn blowing from barges passing by my window turning into the Grand Canal from this smaller canal. Otherwise my room was mostly quiet except for some room to room sound. The wall separating my room from the next could be better sound proofed.
I liked the location on the Zattere very much and the traditional atmosphere of a small elegant Venetian hotel. There was nothing I disliked during my week-long stay.
The location was just what we wanted - close to all the sights but in a peaceful part of Venice. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was average. Like all hotels in Venice, Al Sole was overpriced for the offering. Our room was large but basic and not welcoming, the bed was hard but at least a good size.
It is a convenient and perfect location with easy access to everything and travel. It an enjoyable stay. Staff very helpful and breakfast was also good. Being Irish, we would have liked a bar/lounge service in afternoon or late at night, rather than go to your room, but realise this is not available throughout Europe.
Picturesque area, close to both Grand Canal and parking garages. Old plumbing.
Staff helpful, nice breakfast and cleanliness. Also hotel situated in a very ideal position to train station and buses.
Beatiful location, nice garden, very good breakfast Negligent staff
Approachable staff and spotless accommodation teamed with readily accessible location from point of entry into Venice. Location in a quieter area of the city but still within easy striking distance of the principal sights. Excellent value for money with the opportunity to stay in this well-restored palazzo. Whilst understanding that pigeons are omnipresent and a perennial nuisance throughout the city, it was impossible to take advantage of an alfresco breakfast in the hotel garden without (literally!) sharing your cereal, brioche and cup of coffee with these winged menaces, unless you spent the entire time on arm-waving sentry duty.
Very nice hotel; great location-close to the train and bus stations. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again.
Helpfulness of staff and locality The coffee at breakfast was poor and could easily be improved. Breakfast did not include any hot food.
located on a canal away from the crowds but easy walking distance to main parts of Venice
Convenient location to train, station, bus station and all the sights. Rooms were clean and generously sized for European standards. Staff was friendly and helpful
The staff were very helpful and polite - they could not do enough for you. The room was clean, bright and modern and was a good size for Venice, given that many rooms in the City can be quite small for the price that you have to pay for a 3 * Hotel and above. It is well located in the Santa Croce area has a a lovely garden area but despite its central location is very quiet so perfect for a good nights sleep. If I return to Venice I will stay here again. Only problem was that on arrival there was a mix up with our room and we had to stay one night in a lower standard room than the room we had booked. However, it was quickly sorted out and we were properly compensated for the inconvenience.
The hotel is beautiful and very nice No elevator
The staff's friendliness and the location. Wireless internet would be nice. I would have liked more selection at breakfast.
The small hotel nothing
Very friendly and efficient staff. Very beautiful building. Easy walking distance to city centre. Rather too warm in the bedrooms.
room too small for two people.
There was a nice àuthententic descrete professional ` feel` about the hotel although a bit dusty. Fresh flowers everyday in the reception and just one single smile from the personal would have made a great difference. The entrance is dark and dusty with old Londoner chairs, so old you can not sit in them. The breakfast was very poor, bread that was dry (one each´) and on good days a crossaint to share, no fresch fruit, no nice new baked bread, no cheese. We chose to go to a bar afterwards to have a real breakfast. In our hotel room (very very small on top floor) we did not have pressure on the shower water two days. No desk in room so you could do a bit of work. The hotel entrance space itself could be made so nice dooing a few things like a little more lighting in ceiling, new furniture, fresch flowers. Main space at top floor was nice to look at although tapestry (fake) frescoes in cieling. Nice window to the canal - this could have been a nice place in the evenings to sit and have a chat if it was furnished in a lees monumental and more comfortable way. It was like the hotel was something once but they have fogotten to be present in a modern world.
The hotel location provided nearby access to a part of Venice with a residential feeling while still being fairly close to the vaporetto stop. Way overpriced-- even for Venice. Everything was skimpy and shabby from the breakfast to the towels to the lobby furniture. Over a 5 week trip covering 12 cities in Europe, this was the highest price we paid for a hotel and yet it was the shabbiest hotel with the fewest amenities.
Position was very good. Room was acceptable. Very rude and unfriendly staff. Dirty bathroom. Dirty reception areas. Dangerous (and dirty) steps to first floor.
Very high quality, great reception + staff Once in the hotel - which is appropriately priced, everything was too expensive. For example tea & coffee, drinks food. It simply does not represent value for money and these prices reflected the hotel's expectation that if we paid a lot for the room, we'd pay a lot for basic food & drink. Because of this, we won't return.
The hotel is in a great location – 10 min stroll to piazza San Marco and the Rialto. The roof top terrace was fantastic for relaxing in the evening. The staff were fantastically helpful – they made great recommendations for restaurants and took care of the reservations. We had difficulty finding the hotel as there is no sign.
Cleanliness, decoration of the room, mixture of old and new furnishings. Very well heated, maybe slightly too warm! Great roof terrace and a bottle of free processo per room.
