This hotel has free, super easy street parking all around it. We had to move the car because of night regulation but there was a ton of spots. So nice after paying $20 a night to park in a different city on our road trip. Super awesome location for transit, you can easily go to Manhattan - 20 minutes with a nice quick walk over a bridge and a second inner Brooklyn train less than a 10 minute walk away. We went to the Bronx zoo and even that was only about 45 minutes on transit. Seriously great, quiet location. There's a TON of 24 hour delis, the nearest about a second away from the hotel. Nice bars on every block within a 15 minute radius - we went bar hopping two of the four nights we stayed and loved every bar. The hotel itself was SO SO SO amazing. Seriously, beautiful inside. We all loved it - the decor is super cool for a hotel room. It didn't even really feel like a hotel room. The gym and sauna were so convenient, especially the sauna after a long day of waking around. The bed was super comfy, it was very clean and had an awesome shower with aromatherapy soap and shampoo. Fast wifi, two flat screens with every channel imaginable. Really nice and helpful staff. This was an awesome experience. We're definitely staying here next time we're in New York.
Enjoyed our stay and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Very clean and loved the decor.
The decor, the staff and the room were all way more than we expected. Car service was perfect for traveling around the area and the staff suggested some great places to check out while in a Brooklyn. We wouldn't adjust the AC, but opening the window to get fresh air and turning on the ceiling fan fixed our issue.
(1) Large clean space/rooms, great bed. (2) Great friendly staff. (3) Shuttle. (4) Free water and fruit in lobby. (5) Great TV including premium networks (6) Very useful maps and other hand-outs at desk..(7) Internet.(8) Restaurants and subway within walking distance but nothing immediately near hotel. Weaknesses: (1) They filled most of refrigerator with over- priced drinks. Annoying though some would find it a plus. Would rather see this stuff and more sold out of the way in the lobby.(2) Sold only junk food-nothing substantial for the microwave. An essentially a foodless hotel. Strangely no breakfast at all - most hotels provide something. (3) Complex difficult to use clock alarm. (4) no paper towels.
The staff was kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. The rooms were clean and incredibly spacious.
Unique hotel, very comfortable, friendly and helpful staff (( (Especially Darren and Nigel!) They have a car service and happily picked me up at the subway stop when I got in and the next day drove me to my daughter 's apartment when it was snowing and I was loaded down with holiday presents. Unbelievable! Being an old building, there's not a lot of insulation between floors and I could hear the guests who stayed above me.
I picked the YMCA because it was a cheap option that wasn't quite a youth hostel and was very close to an event I was attending at the Brooklyn Expo Center. Not much in the way of amenities, but I got a decent-sized room that was simple but clean. The staff were all helpful. Basically what I expected for my money. Shared bathrooms and no mirrors in the rooms are slight (but expected) downsides, though the ladies' room was clean and the showers worked well. Right after I arrived an employee made her way through the halls spraying air freshener will-nilly, so the place reeked of fake flowers for a while, but luckily that faded.
The staff was extremely kind The smells, the random people who seemed to be living in some of the rooms, the dodgy showers.
