We went to Madison for a house concert and to visit a friend who is attending UW Madison. The hotel was within 6 miles of both places so the location was great for us. The free breakfast in the morning was a bonus (eggs, sausage, waffles, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, oatmeal, fruits, juices etc). The place was clean, we forgot out suits so we didn't use the pool. The staff were all super helpful and friendly. Will for sure stay here again.
The staff was fantastic. I think the pricing was a little high, but there was a big event in Madison that weekend.
Very comfortable and quiet. Hotel staff was apologetic for not having my reservation in the system and made good on it. The hotel did not have my reservation--not clear where the ball was dropped. I had my printed reservation with me, they had an open room and they honored the price, so everything worked out. But it could have been a big problem if they were full. Please review your process.
The hotel is very conveniently located, very close to the highway but in a quiet place and I couldn't hear any noise at all in my room. It was just 15 min in car from the Alliant Energy Center which was the purpose of my trip and just 3 min in car or 10 min on foot from West Town Mall. A lot of restaurants with reasonble prices near this hotel. I wouldn't mind to have to have a refrigerator in the room. And it would be great to have a bigger variety of dishes at breakfast.
Basic, clean and friendly. Nice little breakfast buffet and great coffee.
I liked the friendly staff and the relaxing atmosphere. Upon entering the motel I felt I had just entered another world, a world of pampering and relaxation. Loved it. The room was comfortable but quite small and crowded.
Rooms are spacious and the extras such as wine at 5 and free breakfast make this our favorite hotel in Madison
Great value, easy checkin and checkout, very helpful staff. I left briefcase in room in error. Contacted by phone, case found, easy pickup later in day. Room clean & comfortable. Convenient, tasty breakfast. Nothing
Excellent price, fresh cookies, comfortable bed, nice and quiet room Got locked out of room, but that was my fault
Staff was very friendly and eager to please. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so they upgraded at no charge. Beautiful building. Cannot recommend highly enough.
location is perfect it would be nice if they offered free breakfast paying extra for parking
The location to entertainment and attractions. Food was excellent.
Wonderful and welcoming staff. Great location right on the square..
Location and proximity to the event I was attending. The Wisconsin Ironman was held at the Menona Terrace and this was a short five minute walk to the event. Service and accommodations were top notch. Underground Parking was sparse and tight given I drive a full size vehicle. Managed to find parking but if there are any drawbacks on this hotel, this is all I could find.
Mostly clean room. Great location. Walk to Capitol, restaurants, and shops. Parking was easy. Attached to a Starbucks. Loud parties on the same floor. Loud security breaking up parties. Hallways smelled like marijuana. Pillows and mattress were overly soft. Didn't get a restful night's sleep. View was of one side of the Capitol and a gravel rooftop.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Nice exercise room. Good location for walking into Madison for shops and restaurants. Nice to have the shuttle to and from the airport.
We left an item in the room, called within hours but they were not helpful in retrieving the item. Very disappointed that they could not have made a little more effort in returning the item (it was not valuable, but was sentimental).
Great Lake view
Great location, room, friendly staff and really appreciated hotel shuttle.
Clean room, great location and views, conscientious staff. Limited cable options, unnecessary housekeeping occurred/disturbed when not requested.
Funny how the other negative review I read came true. We had a reservation for a lake view and when we checked in we had to walk to another building only to find a view not of the lake but of a parking area and garbage bins. It took them 30 minutes to gets a room with a view of the lake as printed on our reservation. Make sure it is all set when you check in. Bed was uncomfortable and linens were not luxury linens. Once we got the kind of room promised on our reservation, we discovered the main ventillation system was located on the lake side of the building (really?!) and even though we were five stories above it, we couldn't open our window without hearing it. Also, room air conditioning blew right towards the bed. I love sleeping in a colder room, but constant moving cold air isn't pleasant. This hotel needs some management and property attention. Too bad because Madison is a nice town and deserves better.
Friendly staff. Clean. Gorgeous view. Delicious breakfast overlooking the water. Sheridan has more comfortable beds for less than half the price.
Cordial, helpful staff. Prime location right on the lake. Beautiful rooms with great amenities. Pricey - you're paying a premium price, though you do get what you pay for!!!
Dining choices and the university are within easy walking distance. The staff is very accommodating. I wish they had told me before we made the reservation that parking costs $18.00 per day. Hot water after running faucet for a full five minutes on upper floors.
Beautiful view!!!! Amazing location Convenient restaurant on site with overall delicious food Room humid, even with A/C on Weak water pressure in shower
Accommodations met our needs. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Our sausage at breakfast was cold, but otherwise it was good. If there had been a microwave I would have just heated them up. The eggs were hot
Clean & comfortable room. Un-cleaned parking lot. Main entrance parking was blocked by hotel cars and there was no place to stop and unload luggage on a snowy day. Had to park far from the lobby entrance and drag bags in over 6 inch snow covered road and walkways.
Clean, comfortable room. Breakfast was good.
Nice big room. Good breakfast. Second floor was awkward. You had to take elevator up and it was slow. I often simply walked out the back door and walked around to the front of the building simply to get to the lobby or the pool.
The location was convenient and the room was clean. Everything was satisfactory. Enjoyed the hot tub and pool. I was surprised by the smaller size bed and pillows. I regret not having brought my own pillow. The bedding was not comfortable.Thin blanket. I prefer having a sink separate from the tub/toilet area. It makes it easier for more than one person to get ready at a time. The TV was directly across from one bed if that matters to whoever is in the other bed. Only shampoo not cream rinse in the bathroom. Every place I stay has both. Usually I bring my own but forgot this time. That was a bummer. There was nothing major to complain about but would try another place before staying again.
It was clean and seemed to have amenities that would be nice if I was there longer than one night. I selected this hotel for the free airport shuttle. When I checked in and asked about the shuttle they told me they needed a 24 hour notice. All they could offer was to call a taxi for me. I said I could do that myself. Not happy. Also the bed was not very comfortable.
Definitely recommend this hotel. Great location, very clean and comfortable.
Nice quiet stay o Room smelled like someone had previously smoked in it though it was non smoking room also room seemed damp no matter how we adjusted the air conditioner
Good breakfast and location. Bedding was old and worn. .areas of the hotel had unpleasant smell
Convenient to highway for a weekend visit. The room was very comfortable, great pool and hot tub area, and a really nice breakfast. Easy access to Capitol area.
Good location - on road trip, was nicest place we stayed.
The hotel was clean and the service was fine. Free Starbuck's coffee in the morning. The decor in the hallways was dark and dreary. They are planning to update rooms. I thought it just gave off a feeling of being faded. My stay was actually fine.
There was an issue with our room's air quality, and they quickly changed it. The new room was great, and the pool was wonderful. We would stay there again.
The hotel location made it easy to get downtown quickly. The room seemed very dated. There weren't any plugs that were easy to access either. Most unfortunate was the fact that I discovered dried blood on the comforter.
location Rooms were less than impressive for a large name hotel. Ice machine on floor did not work. There was no microwave or refrigerator in room. Thought I was getting room with both. TV did not work. Extension cord was running across the floor under the rolling chair. Rolling desk chair was ripped on the arms. Tub/toilet room is so small you barely have room to turn around. Light switch under bed lamp did not work. Toilet did not flush well and handle felt like it might break off. No free breakfast offered.
I liked the driver Henry, the entrance, location, amenities such as the free Starbucks coffee and fruit, and the Starbucks packets in the rooms. Our receptionist upon departure was very helpful and kind when we left (young black woman with longer dread type looking hair). I didn't like that for two people, we were provided one towel in our room. The rooms are definitely outdated compared to the rest of the hotel. Also, I didn't like that we reserved a king bed room and were put into a two bed full type of room. Our receptionist upon arrival wasn't very kind. She was sort of short with us.
I liked the room a lot. I also liked the shuttle they had to take you to downtown Nothing
No coffee machine No microwave No frig No complimentary breakfast.
Very comfortable bed Lights next to the bed did not work, one wash cloth had blood on it, poor directions to the room, when I found the room the door had been propped open bu the deadbolt which made me feel uneasy as it was unexpected. Conference facilities and staff were sub-par.
I stayed at the Sheraton this weekend for a wedding and my parents came down to stay with our four legged son, Charlie. The staff was so accommodating to my family and the concierge was wonderful, chatting with my parents and giving Charlie treats upon his request. I think the staff went over the top with accommodating both humans and pets. If we are in a bind with Charlie, in Madison ever again, I'll be staying at the Sheraton.
Clean, Close to everything for our convenience. Also the shuttle was very useful. Very uncomfortable bed and pillows. Noisy all night long couldn't sleep.
Great service, clean and very friendly staff. I didn't get a King size bed which was no big deal to me and the clerk gave me a complimentary breakfast which was phenomenal.
Spacious room. Clean. Excellent breakfast!!
Overall a very good place. I hear a lot of noises overnight from outside that wake me up despite being on a higher floor. I'm thinking about asking for a different room area.
My stay was great, the only thing I didn't like, was my exhaust fan didn't work when I took a shower.
The staff are friendly. The facility is clean and well organized. And it is in a very good location.
Staff was awesome -- friendly, helpful, engaging. The room was clean, well laid-out, functional. Super-close to the square, easy parking, good breakfast. Nothing.
Location, Breakfast, small loby bar Air conditioning unit was loud, fan was strong - blowing directly on bed. Was there for 2 nites - never did get this figured out for temp.
Clean No ice machine on the 4th
The bed was so comfyyy Just the location
You could hear the people in the room above walking around, but it wasn't unbearable.
I guess the only thing I could really say was the room was clean. I don't normally write bad reviews, but this stay was just not very enjoyable. I was disappointed because the pictures made the place look brand new, but it was far from that. The bed sheets and blankets were very thin and the pillows weren't very good. The heating controls simply didn't work, and we couldn't stop the thing from blowing air constantly, so we were cold. It was also a noisy heater. The cleaning people seemed to be up extremely early, vacuuming the next room for what seemed like hours, and banging into the wall with the vacuum constantly. So, unfortunately, overall I was not very impressed or pleased with our stay here. I asked for a comment card to let them know directly and they referred me to post on TripAdvisor. I hope they get the note, just so others can have better stays!
Good accommodations. It took nearly 30 minutes to get breakfast, which was not even very good, mediocre pancakes and dried out sausage. They advertise it as a nice hot breakfast but it really is a waste of time and money.
Musty smelly room. Had to change rooms. Headache every morning.
Very good made to order breakfast:)
Rooms were large and breakfast was included with the room. Was a continental breakfast, but offered made to order eggs or pancakes. Tucked a way a bit, but still easy to find.
The doors make such a loud slam. That was the only thing that was disturbing. Especially at 2am.
More than anything else, the staff was outstanding - kind, helpful, friendly, polite! Also the location is fantastic and the breakfast was actually delicious.
I really enjoyed staying at the Hampton downtown. It was a nice hotel that met our needs. I did not enjoy the parking. Only one car per room is allowed to park in the lot
We had a more compact room this time which was still comfortable, the only inssue was the bed was positioned opposite the air vent and would blow directly on you each time the thermostat clicked on.
Best Hampton Inn I have ever stayed at. Bar and restaurant at hotel.
Staff was great. Very accommodating and always greeted us with a friendly atmosphere.
Incredibly friendly staff, super clean rooms/halls/building, beautiful view of the city! Construction going on right in front of the building, outside of the room, made it impossible to sleep. Would have like to have known ahead of time but not the hotels fault.
The hotel is configured with parking floors the lobby and guest rooms, making it easier for those with luggage The breakfast arrangement as excellent, as was the food. The rooms are unusually comfortable and well-equipped. Our room was not ready when we arrived, even though it was 4PM.
Close to the university which was a plus since my son was getting a second look to decide if he'd like to go here in the fall. Liked that they had a shuttle, but we didn't use. Good breakfast. Nice friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Ran out of some food and especially coffee at the breakfast. We were there at 8:45/9:00. Nothing else since we only used the room to sleep and that was fine.
The room, the highland club, were very nice. The staff (Tamika) was very helpful and accommodating. Funny too. Angie the bartender was also nice. Though free, the breakfast buffet was not organized and food wasn't brought out quickly enough to keep up with the demand. Had to wait for a clean table and silverware.
Picked it for the proximity to state street because we were going to a concert at the Orpheum. Every employee was really friendly and knowledgable. Very clean. Plus two unexpected but awesome bonuses: free breakfast and free shuttle down to state street!!! I don't think I disliked anything about the entire stay!
The room was well appointed Everything except the interior of the room was under construction and they put me in a double when I needed a single king.
The staff welcomes you with a smile and a delicious fresh baked choclate chip cookie. They think ahead by supplying several tokens when parking your car, so that you can go in and out without having to ask for more tokens each time time you want to leave the parking lot. The hotel looks modern yet warm. The rooms have a sufficient size, are not noisy at all and the beds slept comfortable. It's located at a few minutes walking distance from the action at State Street. The business center of the hotel is very easy to use for printing a boarding pass for example and throughout the hotel there is free WiFi. Good value for your money!!
I was on a business trip to Madison - it was very convenient, comfortable and staff were helpful, courteous and attentive. It was fine.
The customer service is great!!!
Staff very friendly and helpfull, room absolutely clean, ideal location for business in the State Street area
The staff were very professional. The cleaning crew were very polite and accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. The location was central to all the places I had to conduct business During my week there, several times I could smell marijuana. I know that this is not the fault of the establishment, but it made me feel like I wasn't in the safest place. They did however, evict the guests that were participating in the illegal activities immediately.
Front desk manager Alan Rose is super friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the hot tub!
I liked that they had a pool and staff was nice. They have elevators. Usually I don't see elevators in any other super 8 I've been to. Floor was not as clean when I walked in.
Food was excellent I didn't have any problems
The selection of food. Sunday time for breakfast should have been until 10:30am. Ran out of items that were not replaced in a timely manner. Staff at breakfast were it helpful.
I stayed here before my marathon and they set up snacks for people getting up earlier so we didn't miss out on breakfast. The rooms were clean and spacious. It is further from downtown but it was nice to get away from all the traffic and craziness of downtown.
Pillows, comforters,, shower Old smell in hallways, old beds
Staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very clean.
Next to Mechancial room, air handler comes on and off all nite. Bed vibrates with the unit
Clean room Staff was apathetic. Room was cramped & Overpriced. Hotel was full of kids for some sports event. Everything worth going to was a 20 minutes drive away. I wouldn't stay again.
Shampoo is awsome. Room clean Good staff Hotel very LOUD!!! Rooms are not well insulated for sound and not a place for a relaxing at all. The hotel is right next to the highway and you could hear the cats all night.
The staff was warm and kind, the room was clean, the facilities were acceptable. When looking for matches, the bartender was kind enough to provide from his personal stash. So gracious. Our issue was with the other patrons of the hotel. 2 hookers walking in from the lobby. The pool was packed with adults that were loud and intoxicated. There was an actual brawl in the pool/spa area. One "bro" fell onto my 9 y/o. Another poured his beer into the hot tub. We had neighbors screaming down the hall on our L, three very loud frat boys on our R, and some sort of elephant walker stomping above us and possibly falling off the furniture. Perhaps I should have paid more for a room that would weed out these people, or paid less for an option with no pool or bar.
The Graduate was amazing - Great service Great soaps/snacks/etc Clean Comfy bed Fast hot water Water pressure in the shower was low, but otherwise great
Excellent location to visit the university. Nice lobby and Portage Pi is great. Nice vibe. Clean rooms. Would stay again. Location and nice hotel outweighs the noise at night. Room was hot so we opened the windows to sleep comfortably. However, the noise from the street was very loud until well into the early hours of the morning. So we had to be hot or have loud noise. Kept the windows open all of second day to cool down room so we could keep windows closed at night. That was better.
Very comfortable. Easy access to downtown's best. Sparerib pie for breakfast. Looking forward to returning. Heavy rain kept us from enjoying the beautiful rooftop lounge.
Very nice - updated and staff was great. Recommended a nearby Supper Club and it was superb
It was super easy and the staff was really helpful. The rooms were nice and clean.
weeknights offer socials (2 free drinks per adult/night) and fresh baked cookies - some nice perks! lots of options for breakfast! pool is very clean and the hot tub is kept very warm beds & pillows were VERY comfortable! parking got a little interesting at night time on the weekends, but we made the best of it :)
Great service! Very helpful staff. Made me feel at home. Would be great for out visitors.
Friendly staff who all went above and beyond expectations. They truly made our stay comfortable.
Size of the room was good. Location was good, close to restaurants and bars. Complimentary valet parking! Front desk staff not helpful and friendly.
Super friendly staff and really, really clean room. It was very crowded but actually it wasn't noisy in our room.
The AC unit was really loud and woke me up several times.
Great location on Capitol Square, friendly staff. Good flat panel tv and excellent channel selection. Decent bathroom amenities. Badly in need of a remodel. Carpeting smells a little like smoke, bathrooms very small. Steel entry doors make it feel like a roadside motel. Furniture very outdated.
Location was great. The sheets gave us both rashes. Also while we were there they were doing some plumbing work so the water was brown. No complimentary breakfast!
Location and staff were excellent. The hotel is undergoing a major renovation so that cuts off some rooms, but the staff accommodates well. We did get some free drink credits for the bar, so that helped smooth out the rough edges. The hotel is right on the capitol square with a beautiful capitol dome right out the front door. We didn't get any advance info that the hotel was renovating or that access to its driveway was limited, both with construction and roads being closed off for the marathon. It was a bit of a pain (had to park the car and walk to the hotel and then get instructions on how to get to the parking lot. The rooms are OK., but the room in the bathroom was a little tight.
We stayed here for a romantic weekend away. When we went to our room, not only did we have a suite but we also were given a room with an amazing view of the Capitol. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Front desk and valet staff were very accommodating and friendly. Room was large and clean. More coffee in room.
There is an additional $20.00 that was added on my bill , after I returned home and checked my account. I paid this bill up front, when I reserved the room, I ordered nothing while I was there, why the extra $20,00? The heat unit in the room sounded like a freight train every time it came on during the night. So much for a restful nights sleep. Every 15-20 minutes listening to that thing running, really great!!!! Maybe the extra $20.00 was for the constant wake up noise?
Inn on the Park is a great location for Ironman Training- walk to the lake and the run start. Added bonus is that the Farmer's Market is right across the street on Saturdays and State Street is right there too. It was nice to stay in the middle of such a great town. The staff was very helpful with directions, suggestions, etc... Very reasonably priced and slept well!
The comfort and contemporary style of the room. The price was too high for the room and there was no complimentary breakfast.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They welcomed our two dogs with open arms and treats, N/A
Bar/Restaurant staff were phenomenal. Chef was a talented, kind, and generous. These personal touches saved the day. Super comfortable bed and I really appreciate the kitchen and love the shower. Internet was not reliable (though the staff did apologize and offer a free breakfast for the inconvenience). The hotel shuttle has a very limited schedule
Staff was friendly and helpful after we checked in, especially after we left and discovered we had left items locked in the safe. They retrieved them, put them in a cab which got to the airport before our flight left. (Everything was there, including the cash!). It is very modern, which my husband wasn't fond of, but it was clean, quiet, and very roomy. The king suite with kitchette was very handy. A little pricey (for Madison), but good location to west end of campus. The lobby bar was very reasonably priced. The "free shuttle service" to the airport wasn't available when we landed (I had called ahead and told they couldn't reserve for arrivals). The staff at the counter was not helpful when we arrived by cab at the hotel, but we spoke with the manager who took care of everything (and changed my view of the hotel to a strong positive).
