In the Quarter. 3 blocks away from the party over at Bourbon. Comfortable beds. No windows in rooms, so very dark. and the sink was clogged everyday. no hotel life. no bar.
It is close to everything in French Quarter. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Parking was nonexistent. Had to park blocks away for $20 per day. Loading and unloading was hassle since no parking and street was narrow.
In the French Quarter, but far enough away from Bourbon Street so that you could get some sleep Beautiful courtyards Bed was very comfortable Bathroom was recently renovated and was a good size. Staff was very helpful Nothing really.
I met my best friend in New Orleans for a long weekend, and staying at the Cornstalk was perfect. The room was gorgeous, the staff helpful, the courtyard a perfect oasis to sit and eat take-out lunch, the beds super comfy. It is in the thick of everything, without being right on Bourbon Street, which would have been way too crazy. Royal Street is extraordinary, with tons of gorgeous antique shops and good restaurants. Most importantly - there was a coffee shop just down the block from Cornstalk, and the Verdi Marte is only about four blocks away, where you'll get the best sandwiches in New Orleans. This place was utterly delightful. They don't make it clear on the website that there is no elevator, and that even to get to the ground floor, there is a huge staircase - and this is the only access. The day we were checking out, an elder couple was attempting to check in, but the wife - who used a walker - couldn't begin to make it up the stairs to the ground floor, let alone the 2nd floor room they'd booked. This was a Saturday night, and I imagine they had a terrible time finding another room - and they'd obviously flown in from somewhere far away. This is something that should be made crystal clear to anyone who books a room.
The hotel is quaint and historic but updated with all the modern amenities. It's the best of both world's. Also, I don't think I've ever met a friendlier staff. Folks in NOLA are typically very friendly (and genuinely so), but everyone at the Pontchartrain, from the front desk to the bar to the housekeeping staff, seemed delighted to have us there. The Garden district is a little removed from the CBD/Quarter area. Prepare to spend $$$ on taxis/Uber if you want to live it up.
Lobby. Room. Tin Roof Bar Difficult to adjust air to cool. Shower removable spray comes off when water turned on and sprays in face and sprayed wife in hair outside when she used wetting entire room.. Over priced and overrated.
Location, Restaurants, Bar Uncomfortable Beds, no extra pillows
Great location in the Quarter! Close to everything! Quiet, clean rooms. Easy in and out. Beds were very comfortable. Loved the hot tub. Room was a bit dark.
It was cozy and a good location to the bars I wanted to be around. The staff was very friendly and had my room ready hours ahead of time. It was perfect so I was able to start my weekend vacation earlier than expected. The A/C unit was leaking water slowly throughout the night making a little noise, but wasn't a huge problem.
