Central location Filthy, no one cleaned our room for 9 days! Most disgusting place ever.
The staff was very friendly and helpful The room was poorly cleaned. My room was also without windows.
The price. That's about it. Yes. The rooms were very unclean. Two towels with no floor towel for the bathroom is way too few. No washclothes. Ice machines didn't work. Shower had not been scrubbed in a very, very long time. Fire alarm was pulled twice one night.
nothing no heat in room, very unclean, smelly, smoke alarm disconnected, bad paint job
The price I have often stayed at poor budget hotels, but this was the absolute worst. Do not stay here, unless sleeping on the stree is your only other option.
The staff was so nice. I would recomend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay near New Orleans on a budget.
the location availability of towels, parking, the lack of clean sheets on the bed
Location Area of town wasn't the best. No towels in the bathroom, but a great little dive bar across the street.
Dirty, room wasn't ready when we arrived at check in. Not a good part of town, half mile walk to anything. Did not apologize for any of their wrongdoings and we are still fighting them for a refund.
I enjoyed that it was setup like a hostel. Community shower and restroom with a community kitchen. Also, I enjoyed that they offer ear plugs right at the front desk. So in case that you don't want to hear your neighbors then you can use them to get some beauty rest. The air conditioning in there was not cooling very well and it was slightly I unclmfortingto have to wait to go to the restroom. Make sure you get up early to use it.
I really enjoyed the house itself, all the historic detail that has been preserved over the years. The room and bathroom were a good size. The bed was terrible, the mattress was very old and lumpy, had a squeaky bed frame and pillows were not comfortable at all. Also, the lack of a ceiling fan made the room stuffy.
You would not know it by the sort of average photos that I saw on-line, but Site 61 was better in many ways than I expected. I hadn't stayed in a hostel for many years, so was not sure what I would find for such a (compared to hotels) low price. What I found was a well-run hostel operated by a kind and personable staff, a half dozen immaculate (and seemingly brand new) bathrooms (clean toilets, showers with great water pressure and warm water) and rooms that were also clean. i also enjoyed chatting with the staff in the mornings before I headed out for my day. Love this place ! I don't love bunk beds, but who does? Just one of the things one must deal with when staying in a hostel. But as far as bunk beds go, mine was comfortable!
