But the room was fair enough, clean and plenty of space. Personnel in the other hand were always very nice and helpful in all their possibilities (not very much, to be honest). The hotel is very old, with poor facilities and all stuff in not very good condition. Internet connection was very bad all the time and breakfast wasn't as good as expected.
Travel agent in-house was spectacularly helpful. Best hotel in KTM in my opinion. Breakfast was a little heavily weighted toward Indian food for my taste, but fine.
Food was excellent - bedroom wonderful so comfortable and clean Garden area and a entire if spa gym etc all great I'm going back again soon as my number one hotel stay in Nepal
We were treated, top to bottom, with extraordinary service, kindness and hospitality.
Ambience was good. .Was also built as per the ancient Hindu temple structure so liked that. .The plush green joggers park and Tennis courts were one of the best features of the Hotel.. Food was tailor made to Westerners. .US Indians had very little options given the fact that Nepal culture is very much influenced by Hindu Indian culture....The entire set up was pro West with Indian culture taking a back seat..In room Menu was poor with limited options..Lack of Co - irritation among Hotel staff...A lady just walked into my room for house keeping while I was still in the room which got escalated to a high level. ...However the entire episode was hushed up by not charging us for that night and the next to follow. .
The front desk staff arranged last minute flights for us to Pokhara without an additional charge. Room service was excellent. Staff provided me with cold medication when I was suffering from allergies. Attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Dated furnishings, the interior and rooms need upgrading. Luggage assistance wasn't offered when I first arrived, one of the restaurants and the casino was closed during our stay.
Very nice hotel, staff was friendly and the golf course beautiful. Charging for Internet was a bit disappointing given the price of the hotel. Also my wife received a facial treatment in which she thought it did not meet her expectations.
Staff was very friendly. Accomodations and the services were very good. Hotel pool and spa area have been neglected. This was really the only less than satisfactory aspect to our stay
A beautiful, relaxing place to stay. a great place to come back to every day after the noise and hassle of Kathmandu. Quiet and relaxing and lovely, friendly staff.A Real oasis. The only thing we can say is that the food is not quite up to standard in terms of variety. Service and quality of food is excellent, but after a week we were looking for greater variety. Also the air con in our room wasn't working and it took five days to fix, but they did offer a room change.
Gokarna Forest Resort was a bit outside the city which I actually enjoyed, it was a great escape after the hustle of the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were gorgeous. I loved it!
The hotel is located outside of the city and for me personally that was its biggest advantage. we spent 4 days in kathmandu and its surrounding cities and being all day in polluted, and crowded city, Gokarna offers serenity and peace, comfort and clean, fresh air! i would definately recommend it! the choice for breakfast buffee was poor and certainly not one for a five star resort.
The hotel is in a great central location in Thamel. My room faced the street, but even then I did not find it very noisy. The room and all of the hotel was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The shower had plenty of hot water, day and night with good water pressure. I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, so I can't provide and commentary on the quality. I will be returning to Kathmandu for a night and have already booked my accommodation at Avataar.
I stayed here for 3 days with Gate 1 travel. Tour guide recommended me to have dinner in Shambala restaurant. Since I had been having breakfast in the hotel so I thought it will be safe to eat there. I ordered Smothered steak. After my dinner I felt sick. I had stomach ache, nausea, and vomiting. I believed that I got food poisoning. It's very disappointing and they ruined my vacation. Next day I found out from our group that there's another few people also got sick from having dinner there the same night. I was happy and healthy for my whole trip till I had the dinner in Shambala hotel and got sick. I posted my comment on Shambala's facebook and their management came back and accused me that I was sick on the trip to begin with and my illness wasn't by their food. I found them very irresponsible for their comment. For my experience with this hotel, I will give them a zero star if I could. I hated it especially after their irresponsible comments.
the ambience, the staff, and the local. It is a beautiful designed hotel which made me feel a part of Kathmandu. Several of the staff made my stay exceptional and because of them I would return in a heartbeat!
The hotel was very nicely constructed in the traditional Nepalese style and the staff was extremely attentive. For the price this place can't be beat. The location was good in that it was only a block and a half from the good part of town. Unfortunately that block and a half is a very dark, unpaved(muddy), seedy and somewhat scary alley by a strip joint. The rooms though very nice are dark. The whole place could use some better lighting.
Great friendly staff and the room was different from your standard hotel room so was a a nice surprise
The hotel staff were wonderful. My nights at the Kantipur Temple House made my stay in Kathmandu an excellent experience. The rooms had character and the hotel was exceptionally clean. I like the fact that even though it is so centrally located - it was quiet (a haven) from the noise of the area around. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!
location; helpfulness of staff
The friendliness and unfussy approach, the eco awareness, the naturalness of the staff, the lovely quiet garden no
