We loved the decorations and furnishings in the hotel and how close it was to the tube station. Location was very convenient for getting around London and staying in Notting Hill made us feel like locals. There really wasnt't anything we didn't like.
It was very comfortable, particularly for the price we paid. Nothing, really, except the heater was somewhat noisy (but that's what you get in an old building, even when it's been nicely updated).
I have serious problems with overcharging. I stayed there from November the 15th to the 29th. I first booked through booking.com for a week (November the 15th to the 22nd) so the Notting Hill Suites charged the first week of booking. I asked to stay another week and the receptionist said it wasn't paid and charged me two weeks instead of the other one I was asking for. After I realised that the first week was already paid and asked for a refund. The receptionist said ok and pretended he did the refund but it wasn't so.Then I asked again and he finally did the refund. The problem is that they charged me again for another two weeks. So if you are going to stay there, be very careful about what you pay, double check if they are not overcharging you.
The staff were amasing and very helpful. I stayed three nights and then returned for an additional night at the end of my trip because the place was perfect in location, comfort and staff. Very impressed. I came from Australia and intend to use this as a base for business in the future.
Staff was polite, location is great. Cleaning is at good standard. Value for money is well disproportioned, will not visit again. Terrible draft coming from the window next to the bed. Heating was not working so they fit a portable eating in the room. Shower facility very bad design, it gets overloaded and is not sufficient light on the bathroom.
the house and the room are beautiful, a great location near the underground, portobello road and its nice market. The fully furnished the kitchen is appreciable too for quick meals The shower was difficult to use,too hot!!! The internet was not working in the room or worked by 5 min periods and nobody to help. A light did not work and the coffee maker was out of order.
Clean, excellent accessability, comfortable
Nothing. No hot water supply and no one came to fix it at all. Poor service and management
When I found the accomodation the room was very modern well equiped and very clean.
Location Room cleaned once a week and not sufficient
Good location close to 2 tube lines. Close to Paddington. Great staff. Nice rooms although small. The designer did a nice job of using a small space. Definitely recently updated. Nice breakfast selection
The room has a really nice, modern design. Great location. Really good value for money for a triple room in this area in London. We will defenitely come back here again. They are renovating the breakfast room,so now they have a tiny little room for the breakfast, which is really crowdy at the weekend.
Very trendy hotel, very helpful staff, great shower. Convenient to Paddington Station for transfer to Heathrow, Room was slightly smallish and hence a wee bit claustrophobic. As a solo traveler it was no problem but might be if there were two of us.
The room was very elegant and the ensuite was immaculate. We were upgraded on arrival to a four poster room - everything was very clean and nicely presented. There wasnt much left in the way of breakfast when we went down but it was nice enough. The room we were given was right next to the reception, so anytime anyone came or went we could hear it all, which wasn't good at 3.30am! Didn't get any sleep at all that night. Asked the receptionist if we could be moved to another room becasue of those reasons and he said that it would be quiet from then on. Was very annoyed by this. And lift was very slow!
The staff on reception, particularly the lady when I arrived, were extremely helpful and welcoming. The room I was given was excellent. I wasn't huge, but it had a great cosy feel to it and the decor gave it a slightly luxurious feel, which was pleasantly unexpected. I was also pleasantly surprised how close the hotel was to Paddington Staton for the Heathrow Express (an easy 15-20 minute walk). All in all it was a great place to stay and I would definitely use it again. The cleanliness of the bathroom was acceptable, but could have done with a deeper clean. However I would still stay at this hotel again as overall it really was a great experience.
The rooms were charming and the space well-organised. The decor was modern and attractive. Breakfast was good and stocks of food replenished frequently.
the bedroom and bathroom were amazing! could have been offered real milk for bedroom for tea tray
early check-out time!
the shower was red hot couldn't turn it down bathroom cold. bulbs had blown in room asked for them to be replaced still waiting !!!
Cleanliness, the location - silent and central. The room is stylish and modern. The toilet - difficult to flush and the bathroom is too small, however, clean and beautiful.
Good location. the staff is not particularly friendly or helpful; the bed in my room was very uncomfortable; the hotel is currently being renovated and there is ongoing construction work; the telephones did not work in any of the rooms; no internet access.
The rooms were clean The rooms where very small! Had to climb over husband to use restroom. Also felt that it was very expensive, no breakfast included, no bar/lounge. Had to make 1 collect call and the hotel charged us $45.00 for it.
The location was great. Near the Bayswater Tube and walking distance to the Portabella market. The room was decorated beautifully and on the first floor overlooking the park. Very quiet. The staff was very accomidating and friendly. The bed was not the most comfortable and the cost of breakfast was high. We went elsewhere.
The location was perfect! When we checked in we were told we were given an upgrade. Not sure what that really meant, we were on the basement floor so we had no light, and it was actually quite sunny during our stay in London. Our bed was uncomfortable and we both would roll towards the middle. Non stop noise all night, either from the air conditioner, or the lift or other guest it was a very noisy stay. The staff was very friendly, and I understand they want to improve, my suggestion is never tell a gust that they are being given an upgrade and then put them in the basement.
facility is goood
Nice little hotel in a great, quiet location. There is NO Fitness Centre and I was told I had to pay for Breakfast when it was included. It costs 15 GBP (If you pre-bopok and pay in cash) for breakfast and it was not worth the price. Very small dinning room.
rooms were really nice together with in-room facilities. Very quiet and comfortable. No bar or restaurant was surprising considering the cost. Communal areas were spartan and not very welcoming. TV reception was terrible which wasn't too big an issue as it meant I didn't have to endure the X factor!!!!
- location - the fact that we had to pay at check in...don't they trust their guests ?
the design was excellent some of the staff couldn't answer to any of my questions about the hotel, my room was next to the elevator and I could hear if someone used it, the towels I've got wasn't washed (it was brand new, but not washed)
The room was sparkling. I had the best nights' sleep I have ever had in a hotel - the temperature could be controlled from the room, and the woindow left open if desired as the room looked out onto a very quiet square. It was lovely to have a view of greenery in central London. The staff were very polite, greeting us at the door at all hours of the night, which made us feel safe and looked after. No
The hotel was clean and the staff were polite
Single rooms were decent size and very clean, good location, good tvs and wifi signal, courteous staff
Exceptional location in Notting Hill and courtesy of the staff. The hotel needs a renovation.
Clean room, bath tub and large beds. If price is lower, it is much better.
I was surprised given the excellent reviews received by the hotel to find a slightly ran down establishmentin need of some serious updating. Perhaps my views were coloured by my bad exerience with my stay but perhaps not. The first room I was given was quite adequate, if small. I was then moved to a different room because of a fault with the lighting (easily fixable it turned out). The "new" room had to be the worst one in the hotel! Low lighting, no work surface, desk or table, very hot, and no shower, just a hand held spray. I left the hotel a day early. On the positive side the breakfast was wxcellent.
Cozy and friendliness of the staff. Would be nice if the cover of the furnitures and carpets got an upgrade.
bath with hydro massage - the bathroom in general night receptionist was particularly unhelpful and rude
the hotel have good place in londno too closde to undergraund and hayd park . that hotael is good for 2 night only
the hotel staff and attitude
just 2 mins walk from Notting Hill tube station. Light and clean room, well equipped.
Good all round service offering and attention to detail
The staff were very helpful. I liked the easy 24-hour access. The room was comfortable, if rather small, and its facilities were as expected. The breakfast was good and offered the option of a cooked breakfast. The price was rather high, but it is in London and quite central, so perhaps that was not a surprise.
Nice reception area No tea and coffee in the room, one pillow, no plug in wash basin, show was blocked, room was not en suite, poor breakfast, plastic culterly, some plastic cups in dining room, toast was very slow coming from kitchen, left luggage was in view of all guests in the reception area.
central, well maintained in general Although it was good value for money, the room was really small and the flush was not working properly. Also there was no tray containing kettle, cups, etc... that you usually find in other hotels.
Nothing hill area - very safe place in London, we didn´t see anything strange on the road, we felt safe outside and inside, enough possibilites to eat outside, even some shops are open at late evenings to get some food or newspaper, underground station Nothing Hill gate very close. Hotel just normal, enough for short stay in London, we come again. Good price. We had to go to Stansted airport very early - 3 a.m. Hotel organized the taxi for us for the price 75 pounds which was good, driver came on time, we got safely and quickly to the airport. Smell from smoking in our room, we asked for non smoking room. We opened the window, sprayed the room but it didn´t help. It looks that people were smoking in this room before for longer time. Otherwise OK. Bit cold in the room.
The central location. We found it noisy at night. Our upstairs neighbors clamboured around until very late and kept us awake.
The bathroom looked like it had just been redone. I was traveling with my boyfriend, suster, and father. This was a trip for her birthday and we wanted to make the best of it. We werent expecting much from the pictures, but the hotel felt like it was falling apart. I know those buildings are a couple hundred years old, but it seems like very little upkeep had been put into this one. It says it's a 3 star hotel, more like 1 star and maybe motel better describes this place. The rooms were extremely tiny, it had more of a hostel feel rather than hotel. There were bunk beds and one full for 4 people. The furniture looked like it was from the 18th century and was very skeptical about whether it would last the night. The blankets were disgusting, they looked like they had never washed them ever and that they were at least 20 years old. The television looked more like a 1980s computer monitor and it did not function. I get that most homes don't have AC, but this is a hotel, that's kind of necessary. Our form of AC was an open window. Luckily we were there during cooler times, but for us Florida answer, it was a little too cool at night. We tried to close the window, but the thing almost fell off completely. Forget about making a complaint though, the staff were rude. They never looked up to greet you and when you walked up to the desk, they still wouldn't look up until you said hello first. What kind of hospitality is that? They made you feel like you were a pestering nuisance. I'm sorry I'm asking you to do your job??? We chose this place so that we could all room together, but I much would've rathered stayed in a more expensive place and have 2 rooms had I known this was a disaster of a "hotel".
friendly, helpful staff
Hotel very shabby & run down ,filthy carpets in room ,poor selection of food at breakfast & rude unhelpful person on reception.
The location, the bed was comfortable, the room was not as is usual for London stuffy and over-heated, a decent set olf lifts for a 4-storey hotel, the price remains good for accommodation with breakfast. The room was too small and the bathroom (if possible) even smaller, and the corner washbasin the smallest I have ever seen. It was not possible to get any part of one's anatomy over it - hence a rather wet floor. Television reception was awful - it must have been the only TV in London with just 3 channels. Breakfast is okay but something of a competitive sport - to try to catch the toast before it disappears.
location is good , maybe the romantic garden view is good. thats all our soap was finished we call reservation desk for that and thet said that come here and bring your soap, we paid 553 pound for 7 nights to this hotel but service is very bad breakfast time is the same bad service, breads came very late , eggs were finished...bla bla
Location was convenient. Staying as a young, not visibly wealthy couple, we felt utterly unwelcome in the hotel, even though we had paid fully for the service. Both reception staff did not seem to know what they were doing, and kept us waiting for a long time to check in because they didn't know how their payment authorisation system worked. The room was small but acceptable, but the bathroom was practically a cupboard , with 2 measly bars of soap and one wet towel, and nothing else.
The rooms were dirty, small and uncomfortable. Breakfast was a joke - just tea, juice boiled eggs, cereal and toast. Our room had a broken shower door which was hanging off its hinges and dangerous, but when told the staff said we would have to put up with it as there were no other rooms available and if we wanted a shower we would have to use another room. We asked them to contact the manager as we didnt want to pay for this, but they refused. Apparently the manager only starts work at about 11am and does a couple of hours and then goes so good luck if you encounter any problems.
It was a bed after a trans-atlantic flight. The shower was 10/10. We arrived before check in after all night flight from USA hoping to sit off till room was ready but told to come back. Came back and carried cases upto 2nd floor to find 2 single beds instead of a double. Given a room in basement. Tiny. Nowhere to hang clothes. Climbing over cases to get to bathroom where there was nowhere to hang a towel or put toothpaste, razors, foam etc. As for the breakfast, well read the other reviews on here, terrible. dining hall slightly bigger than our room.
Well I don't know where should I start... For everyone who complained: Yes - this hotel maybe is not the best in the town but you always have Ritz or Sofitel charging at least £600 per night. Yes rooms have signs of wear and tear but you have to understand that changing interior for such a small hotel is much more problematic and pricey than for big chains such Accor or Premiere Inn. It's old, huge (and beautiful) Victorian house converted into hotel.Rooms are big, beds comfy, bathroom maybe small but you would be able to have shower - unless you'd like to have sex on the floor - for this purpose I agree: it's a bit too small. Location is more than convenient walking distance (15 min.) to Paddington Station and 3 stations to Oxford street. look above. I hardly found anything bad. Yes - they might invest in new carpets but at the and of the day I usually sleep on bed not on the carpet - If you prefer carpet then your choice.:)
Convenient for Central London. Good bus and tube links. Very poor maintainance in rooms, ie: plugs in basin missing, door handles loose, broken sanitary wear. Despite having room changed still faults in second room. Breakfast choice very limited and breakfast room like a waiting room.
Good location, friendly staff. Up three flights of stairs with small kids and luggage, and I don't recall reading on the website that there was no lift. Breakfast was a bit thin. We asked hotel to recommend a car for hire to get to Gatwick Airport South Terminal, which the hotel staff booked for us; we were quoted one price but on the day of the driver told us that it was an extra 5 pounds because we were going to Gatwick South. I'm not sure if that was legitimate or if the hotel needs to be more careful about recommending a car service. Also, I was unprepared to pay in advance (typically in Canada you pay at check-out, leaving a credit card on file), so I arrived without enough cash to pay the bill and had to put it on my credit card, resulting in the extra charge to use a credit card.
It is not specified during the booking that if you pay by card (debit or credit), there is an extra 4% charge. My room didn't have a window and was incredibly hot.
This was probably one of the best hotels, that I ever have lived in. Friendly staff, good service und spacy rooms - one can't wish for much more. The "Continental" breakfast could include some "Continental" cheese and/or sausages as well - not everybody likes jam, or a big "English" breakfast.
Great location! Good value considering the prices in London. Helpful and Courteous Staff! Everything worked as expected and as required. Tiny breakfast room - sometimes couldn't get a seat and knocking elbows with other patrons. Tiny room but adequate and everything worked.
Staff was friendly. Small room (n°5) in the basement. Unreliable internet connection. Noisy in the basement.
Vicki was very nice at Check in. Convenient to Tube stops and Hyde Park. Cleaned each day. Breakfast was good. As all rooms in the U.K., the room was a bit cramped. Shower was excellent, but in a small bathroom. No lift, but we enjoy the European staircases.
London and BBC!!! Maybe a window which didn't shut down.
Good location, rather cheap, every day cleaning No soap and shampoo
cleaness underground railway noise
The locations is great. Good transport links. No curfew. Room was a good size and clean. Breakfast available until 9:30am Sound of underground train throughout the entire building - not good if you are a light sleeper. No complimentary toiletries in the bathroom so had to go and purchase our own. Insufficient space to cater for more than a few people during breakfast. Extremely noisy plumbing coming through from the neighbouring room - a problem when your neighbours are up at 5:30am.
The location. Awefull - Just prior to arrival (being 2.5 hours after the soonest available time for book in to our room), we were just yards away from teh hotel when the manager (Manoj) called from his mobile and very bluntly said "Mr Robindon? Due to maintenance your room is unavailable and you'll need to find another hotel to book into". Obviously this was out of order, not just for being so late in the day but the managers attitude. We decided to continue to the hotel to confront the manager face to face. After around 30 minutes of arguing that he was out of order and teh service was not acceptable we were provided a key and direction to our booked double room - which was a twin. 2 more hours later we had the room we booked though in poor condition
nothing breakfast, room very run down although clean if anything, staff sleep behind counter and can't assist with queastions asked.
the hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. The location is great
The room was ok, and so was the breakfast (not much choice, but pleasant). The worst thing was that noise due to the underground lines passing underneath. The machine to make tea wasn´t working.
The room was spacious and clean and great value for money
Good location, friendly staff Bed uncomfortable, room too warm, toilet seat broken
Clean, good value Very basic
None No toilets or bathrooms in any of the rooms in floor 3, 4, and only one in floor 2. This was shared by all in the floors. This hotel was very dirty, and the staffs were very rude. I could not sleep at all.
Good location Poor breakfast
The location of the hotel was quite good, close to tube station and in Zone1 The room stinks, stairs were shaking
Location No stairs Very very very small space Very dirty and dusty
Nothing Its a pathetic place! Broken locks on door, noises from the street coming thru the windows the whole night. For the money that they are charging, the hotel is a really rundown place. The rooms are nowhere like those in the pictures at the website.
Close to tube station Very small, outdated and very tired looking cupboard
Value for money, friendly staff, good location. Basic room, no homely touches E.g lamp in the room.
It's cheaper comparing to the other hotels in the area It doesn't have a bathrrom in the room
Very helpful and friendly staff; the hotel is very clean. None.
Location good, safe, close to everything. Staff very nice, especially blond tall lady. Fine for sleeping purpose, value for money ok.
nothing breakfast, the room was to warm,no mirrow in the bathroom
only the location no evevator, not tasty breakfasta at all, terrible furniture and equiptment
I liked that it was not far from Baysmater and the parks. And close to pubs and shopping. And not expensive The breakfast
Nothing Virtually no hot water, No workspace in room as advertised on internet.
Veronica, the receptionist on the morning I arrived, was very welcoming and helpful. Veronica was accurate in her information about an internet cafe location ( tho' I also found one at the top of Whitley's)as well as a couple of other pieces of tourist information I needed. I chose the Palace Court Hotel because of its price and proximity to Paddington Station as I arrived from Heathrow very early in the morning. As it turned out the hotel is located near the 23 Bus route which was very handy. The tube strike was on so I didn't use the close stations. I felt comfortable walking in the area at any time. I found the stairs tiring (I was on third floor)but ... maybe I should be fitter. Found the shower taps a bit tricky, need instructions.
The location of this hotel out weighs any negative comments that follow. On arrival we were met by a friendly staff who allowed us to leave our bags. Our triple room was on the top floor which did involve quite a climb (not recommended for unfit guest) The room was clean and spacious and replenished every day. Breakfast was provided, consisiting of cereal, boiled eggs, cheese and toast. Walking distance from the Central Line, District Line, Hyde Park and Notting Hill. Value for money. The water pressure in the shower was low however the water was hot.
Staff were friendly and always available if you had any queries. No Lifts and the shower was broken. Rooms were basic.
The staff were polite and friendly and the room was clean and warm. It has easy access to the tube / shops and a few nice bars. Nothing amazing but good for an over night stay. Couldn't really complain about anything.
location roomview (garbage belt), bed (really hard with springs), very small room
great reception emplyees, courtesy and patience awful breakfast services, no hot milk, often no glasses neither cups, really bad coffee, no courtesy and some of the waitress didn't speak english
It is indeed 2 min walk from the tube in a nice area and there is an elevator for 1person+ 1 luggage. I could not even think of entrying the wc, I was cold because there was only one thin blanket available and I was too tired and sleepy to go downstairs to ask for one more. There was a leak in the shower and it gave me the impression that it was raining all night long. It definitely needs a good remont. And I have never seen a poorest breakfast.
I booked 2 nights here. When I arrived I was told there was no hot water for at least 24hrs and no reduction in £75 per night. The bathroom was disgusting, the grout in shower was black. The plughole in the floor full of hair and dirt. The walls of bedroom were dirty and whole place needed decorating )es. And refused to stay 2nd night on account of no hot water and dirty.
Close to tube, good hotel staff Breakfast, very-very small room, poor TV-signal reception
The price I paid for a bed Fantastically located (super central, and next to the tube) Beyond tired... saying that the bed was comfortable and I stayed there just the time to sleep... Poor breakfast, but then you get what you pay for, and they do offer a very low tarif for a Notting Hill hotel so no big surprises...
the location is perfect. Quiet park square. Near tube, food, etc.... For London, the price works out great. If you need a room with a bed toilet and shower, then this is perfect. If you need a honeymoon suite look elsewhere and get a higher paying job. the rooms are not the cleanest and Bathrooms very small. But if the rooms were cleaner/ newer, or the bathrooms bigger, the price would be double
I was glad that I only booked it for 2 nights The rooms were not clean, they smelled really bad. Mold in the bathroom, uncomfortable bed. The price was way too expensive when you compare what you get for the money.
Very central location, the staff was relaxed about late check-out and leaving baggage. The toilet didn't work very well and the bed was a bit hard.
Not bad. Rooms were ok, the bathroom too; they cleaned our rooms every day and we had new and clean bathroom towels every day. The staff of the hotel was very nice: they were at our disposal for any informtion and they let us leave our luggage in the hotel the last day. The position is excellent: near the subway station and in front of Portobello Market, which is very nice to visit. The room carpet was very dirty and the all room smells terribly of dust. The breakfast was very very light with only toasts, jam, coffee and tea.
hotel is in easy reach to tube and attraction places in the center. If you just want to hang around in the city and be back just to sleep with playing less it may fit you. breakfast is really poor, almost nothing to eat.rooms are kind of shabby and not so clean though the bed and blankets are fine.the bathroom is really too old as built in stone ages and the fittings are not working properly.
The staff is very good, always there, know a lot about London. The location is perfect for a tourist, three minutes from the main street with two lines of underground to the central of London and many buses. The Hotel is very quiet. The furniture of the rooms is very old.
