I arrived early morning and was so glad to be checked in and didn't have to wait until mid afternoon. The cleanliness of the hotel was great. The staff was most accommodating. The on site restaurants were very good.
Close to the El; convenient
Located right in the Loop of Chicago, this hotel is only 2 blocks from the Blue Line train from the airport. Free WiFi if you are a Kimpton Rewards member (or if you sign up during your stay). Free wine social hour every night from 5-6pm. You also get a minibar credit if you are a rewards member before you check in. The front entrance was a little odd - the lobby is up on the floor above and not well marked. The view out the window in my room was a brick wall.
The room was perfectly sized and extremely comfortable. Not a single thing.
The staff was rude and disrespectful. The staff.
no free coffee
Everything was great!
Some may not like the smaller rooms (especially baths) but this is a very nice boutique hotel. They have done an excellent job of refurbishing a grand old building and the ambience captures the imagination. We loved it and would stay again for the good rate we got through booking.com No coffee machines and no coffee in lobby, but a coffee shop on the corner that was open at 5am.
location (1) the fact we provided them a different credit card to charge my bill and they said they were good and then I get my statement and they charged the original card after they said it wouldn't be charged. (2) the lines to check out were long and it took us over 20 minutes to just check out. (3) we were not made aware of the wine hour when everyone else we spoke to was. Overall experience was not the best and the purpose of our visit was to find location venues for an upcominng tradeshow - I think if we would have made them aware we would have been treated much better.
Very modern hotel. No pool
The 5:00 PM wine hour and the interesting decor. Most of the furniture in the lobby was cool looking but not comfortable to sit on.
Location in the heart of Chicago downtown. Lack of concern for the interests of customers. I was a Marriot Gold Elite member and after this recent stay I felt like I should quit the reward program for good.
The rooms are nice size, it's in a great location, the fitness center is nice and the bar is popular. The rooms have an eclectic look. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is quiet. The staff was attentive and curtious. The price was very good for the location. We ordered food at the bar and they checked on it twice but it never came. Everything else was great
Pleasant people. Fast elevator. No cover for the House of Blues. $69/night parking.
Location is perfect you can literally walk to 5 STAR restaurants and catching a cab or uber no problem. The staff was great, my room was a little small with no view and when I asked to switch rooms they gave me a much bigger room with water/bridge view of the city on the 11th floor. The staff are very friendly and they made me feel at home. I'm from California and its always nice to feel welcome and greeted with a smile. The bathroom shower head is amazing you will want to stay as long as you can in the shower. The set up of the room is beautiful and modern. The view and large space in room is amazing, but the walls are thin and I can hear the elevator going up and down day and night and people talking in the hallways. I'm really big with bathrooms and I didn't like how the bathroom floor felt on my feet.
Great customer service! The staff was very helpful and informative. The Manager spent about 20 minutes with us outlining key points on a map he provided of places to go and things to see as well as the walking distance from the hotel. The whole staff was very friendly. The ambiance of the hotel decor & design was outstanding, not to mention the perfect view from our room. The location is superb & right in the center of Chicago's nightlife. The only thing that I didn't like about the place is that they shut down the pool area earlier than most hotels. But overall would rate this hotel a perfect 10. Great experience and would definitely recommend!
No available movies to watch in room.
Everything about our stay was fantastic. The room was ready when we arrived and they upgraded us on the house which was very nice. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful they were so nice and friendly that made our stay that much better. I will definitely be stay there next time I visit Chicago.
Location Rate Small room and bathroom Hotel could have been cleaner. Room temperature hard to regulate Very dated
Beautiful clean hotel! Very welcoming and gracious staff. Very comfortable beds.
Overall hotel is good...good location, nice athmosphere, etc Bugs in the bed! ... Woman hair in the bed! ... Air conditioner not working properly....
Parking cost of 69$ a night!
The hotel was very clean, staff went out of their way to accommodate my needs, very centrally located and convenient. Got a great deal on the price too! Outside of their control, the pipes froze around 10pm and there was no heat. I requested an extra blanket but it never arrived at least not by the time I fell asleep.
room service was excelent. staff were very polite and helping.
The location is good, slightly away from the bustle of Michigan Avenue, but not too far. Everything is within walking distance and in a nice area. Nice, friendly staff. It would have been great to have a mini refrigerator in the room and the room temperature was a bit colder than my comfort level.
location was ok, although there are so many hotels downtown its not like you dont have choice way to expensive for what you get, i wouldnt stay here again for $220 night, i'm sure there is something better. rooms are typical 1994, boring patched up, siliconed but clean. if it was $120 a night then i might be ok. food at the restaurant was average but trying to be fancy, picture costco chicken parmesan all dressed up with wait staff in black trying to hard to be mod.
nothing special The way staff treat people and no concierge and no body to help
good location the cleanness of rooms, old hotel, expensice not included self-parking
Clean room, quick check in/out. It was a little difficult to navigate building because front desk is on an upper floor.
Nothing Paid for standard room and was told that's a sleeper couch in a room that is really the living room for a suite. Room also smelled like cat urine, couldn't stay there, booked a room at Hotel Intercontinental on Michigan Ave and was treated to a nice room and free breakfast.
downtown, friendly, clean, ammenities coupon for breakfast not adequate for two people. No Valet Parking. Not easy access from parking area. Too much walking to get to hotel lobby.
Great location, nice river view, clean room, available shop for the light breakfast on the first floor of the building, should provide more powerful hair dryer.
The staff was very hepful.
I did like the room, it was very comfortable The parking fees
The room was very clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and professional. Easy check in and check out. I would stay here again!
If you're staying here....river view is an absolute must! Would definitely stay again.
comfortable nice room good staff except front desk They did not have my Kayak reservation. They did honor the reservation however; it was done with attitude " how di d you get this rate for this weekend?"
Hotel location was excellent close to shopping at Magnificent Mile and with several good restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Concierge was not on top form but everyone can have an off time so not a problem and all other staff extremely helpful
i had no booking when i arrived, yours or their system had stuffed up. I have paid the hotel directly, please ensure you do not charge me
The hotel was clean and very nice. All staff I encountered were very nice. The best part in my book was the location. It was right on the river (although because of a brick wall that creates a little courtyard outside the lobby/restaurant you can't see the river from the main floor entrance way, but you could see it from above and below this location). It was comfortable. It smelled nice (they push their "signature scent" out in the lobby which is fresh and pleasant). There are MANY restaurants within walking distance, including one of my favorites, Frontera (upscale Mexican). There's also a restaurant right outside the lower level doors (take the two escalators down) that's right on the river. You're within walking distance of Michigan Avenue (if you like to walk) or you could always take a cab to that area if walking too much isn't appealing. The location really can't be beat. Really the only thing I didn't like was how very DARK it was in the lobby of this hotel. They need to add some attractive lighting (chandeliers, lamps) so it feels more cheerful. I understand that this used to be a Niko Hotel and was done in the Japanese style (which is still evident). If they're not going to add lighting, then adding some fountains for pleasant ambient noise would be good. I would also suggest that they add more "windows" in their brick wall in the courtyard outside the lobby/restaurant. I know there's a sidewalk out there that they likely wanted to "protect" the hotel from, but their present set-up misses the view of the river and downtown.
The chase lounge chair next to the window. I enjoyed the view of the city and the river. I liked watching the tour boats coming and going. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice and the room was quiet. I felt that the staff were courteous and helpful. Nothing that I can think of.
The staff was excellent. Everyone was very friendly & helpful, from the front desk to the breakfast staff. Nice room. Nice view of city. Great location to downtown attractions, restaurant, etc. I would stay there again. Minor complaints only. We were staying 4 nights and the room only had 2 tiny drawers for clothes & a small closet. Not a huge deal, but we had to leave a lot of clothes in our suitcases. As I said, the breakfast staff was fabulous, the food, however, was just okay. Weekdays seemed to have more variety, weekend days the choices were extremely limited. They ran out of half & half cream for the coffee after the first day & it was not restocked throughout the rest of our stay.
We are a young family and this hotel was a great fit for us. Chicago is a very welcoming to families and the staff here was no exception. From the doormen, to the front desk staff, to the dining room manager, everyone doted over our daughter and did everything they could to make sure our stay effortless and enjoyable. The location was great too. Not far from the magnificant mile and adjacent to many restaurants.
everything was pretty clean, great service. Better than what I expected highly recommended
Great stay except for that we were expecting a hot breakfast but instead got a bag delivered with a sandwich and fruit.

Helpful staff, good location and the breakfast staff was awesome.
Great location, nice room, good breakfast and gym
I loved the Breakfast, room size, location, EVERYTHING. We attended a concert at the house of blues and this hotel was perfect in location!

Helpful staff Confusing parking ramp
The lobby construction was disappointing. Would have expected better for the price
Parking at the hotel. Free wifi. Free breakfast. Awesome staff.
The location is great. Some stuff at the reception are mostly very impolite, not trying to offering helpful suggestions, acting as if the customers are just willing to cause problems, which is definitely not matching to the level.
Room, the Bell men and the Valets and the Door man. expected a breakfast buffet and because of the construction they gave a bagged breakfast that they left at the door. The construction noise was loud The lines to use the elevators were also long because they were working either on the elevators or in front
Very mosey staff not nice also I wood nevertheless stany there agan
Everything !!! None
Close to Navy Pier and Red line station. South side of building faces main fire station. Sirens and air horns going off all night.
Good size room. Stayed in dual queen suite with corner sofa sleeper. Enjoyed text alert when room was ready. Prime location. Friendly staff. Solid breakfast. Huge rec center on lower level (basement). Room wasn't cleanest. Stain on comforter up by my neck. Sink was clogged from prior guests. Parking was extra and expensive. Used SpotHero to get lower rate and closer location. Grand Plaza was 1 block.
The Breakfast Buffet included with the room rate was very good.
The staff was friendly. The construction noise was terrible. Construction was happening at 7 am on Saturday morning directly outside our window. The breakfast was terrible. I understand it was free, but at least provide decent food. There was only one working elevator.
The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are very spacious. Everything was great!
