Pool Paper thin walls, constant slamming of doors in the hallway!
This was a very charming hotel. The location was wonderful - only a few blocks from an Underground station and Hyde Park. The staff was great - very helpful and friendly. The concierge helped with getting tickets to museums and other attractions as well as trains, which saved a great deal of time not waiting in long lines. We took advantage of the breakfast service. The food was good with lots of options. The waitstaff was very attentive. We did not have to wait long for assistance. The maid staff was fine as well and also very friendly. On several occasions, we had to call the front desk to request additional towels and they arrived within minutes. The Rembrandt is an older hotel with some of the issues associated with that. For example, the "switch" that controlled power to the room would "break" if the bathroom door was closed to hard in our room or a neighboring room. This could be easily fixed by tapping on the control panel. The room had a small table and desk, so there was no room for a wardrobe. It was a little difficult living out of a suitcase for two weeks. It would have been smarter to remove the desk and substitute some drawers for clothing.
its central position to Kingsbridge and shopping Water in bath and shower not hot enough at any time
Very friendly, helpful staff, comfortable room, well positioned for C London.
Well designed room; very complete; lots of nice touches. Heated towel rack; jacuzzie tub; upscale furnishings; even has a couple of 110/115 outlets. Location cannot be beat; just down from Harrods and up from South Kensington Underground station two stops away from Victoria Station and 4 stops away from Westminster Station. The BigBus "hop on hop off" number 36 is just out front and the narrated tour the bus provides last right at 3.5 hours with city traffic and goes to every single place of interest. Tour bus pricing varies based on package deal but around $30 per person. The staff of the hotel always exceeds expectation; Neal, the head concierge; is full of insights for the area; found us a large private van to Heathrow for $65. We had 4 big bags from a twoo week Cruise, so the large Mercedes was excellent. The hotel and its ammenities are moderately pricied if not leaning a little toward expensive, as in breakfast; but in tota,l worth the money especially if on vacation. A superior experience; will stay here again when visiting London for sure.
The Rembrandt is in a great location not far from the many sights of London. We had a wonderful room with a balcony and a spa bath! It was excelent.
The location of the hotel - central, being within walking distance of Knightsbridge tube station, yet quiet enough to get an undisturbed nights sleep! Vey clean hotel, providing a very good breakfast.
room was quite spacious and location quite central food was not very good byt fair for England
The very good location of the hotel and helpful staff, also good heating. The toilet in the bathroom didn't work too well and no extractor for the steam in bathroom.
Our room was on the small side.
Service was outstanding. They provided extra towels and outlet adapter when asked. Rooms are spacious and clean. Great place to use for our home base for our anniversary getaway to London. Centrally located downtown. Close to the tube. Full English breakfast was included in our reservation but I was informed that not every reservation qualified for the "full" breakfast and instead they received a continental breakfast. Limited menu in hotel restaurant.
The Hotel staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and very very helpful. They always remember me from my previous stay. The disabled facilties are not upto dda standards. The ramp to the reception is unsafe, too steep and not legal!! You must get the electric wheelchair lift repaired and make sure that it can operated by the wheelchair user from the pavement. either that place a bell outside so that the attention of the reception staff can be alerted. I would recommend this hotel to able bodied persons, but not to wheelchair users.
The communication of the hotel staff was excellent, they were all very proffessional. My compliments to all of them.
The basement room and the reception the broken shower that was only partly repaired
Great location for museums and shopping. Comfortable but small room.
Decor and ambience - a very Victorian feel. There was nothing we deidn't like.
Very hospitable staff. Room very cosy. Breakfast room very clean and breakfast very good value. None
Staff friendliness Location Rooms too small
hotel was quaint...nicely decorated, good location, staff helpful and friendly, location (when staying in room on the front of the hotel) was very noisy, room was very hot....temperature not adjustable..
The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. It is located in an excellent position, especially if you are visiting London to see the sights. No.
the vacum cleanin of the carpet was very bad
It was pretty close to most tourist attractions. Staff at times can be uncoperative.
Loved the location, the staff, the overall comfort of the hotel. It was perfect. Highly recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to be in the south kensington area.
very nice design hotel, comfy lobby & rooms showergel / shampoo weren't filled up after user
Ultra quiet room. Good bar. Good location Used Kayak to request an early check-in (1 hr) to make a confidential business call. Automessage from hotel "could not commit" to this. Arrived 90 mins early to plead my case, but didn't get access till 10 mins prior to 3pm check-in. In other words, they placed zero priority on this simple ask despite having 4 hrs between departure and check-in. Also requested a room with a desk and accessible outlets, but got a room with no desk at all - and only accessible outlets were under the television, across the room at the head of the bed. Lighting in room was terrible. Very slow service in the restaurant
very nice hotel in a great area. the reception staff is fantastic a bit less the service employees. all in all good place
Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and accomodated an early check in.Especially like to mention Andrea Doyle who showed a great deal of empathy and was agreat ambassador for the hotel. Room was small, you could hardly get past the bed, staircase still not finished which detracted from otherwise luxurious feel to the hotel. Not sure you could desribe it as a superior double !
The location for sightseeing, the facilities and the staff of the hotel were excellent. The costs to stay were also very reasonable. I reccomend this hotel to stay.
This hotel is so beautiful, amalgam of charming English style with some bold fashion details Hotel rooms are gorgeous, all are renovated, free WiFi, complimentary coffee and tea in the room, good size closet and 24 h room service! Location is tremendous few minutes walk to a shopping area including Harrods mall, there are many restaurants and cafes near by as well, from fancy 5 star French to little local bars, all are great! If you are about explore the city, right on the corner from the hotel there are few museums, Hyde Park and Kensington palace! Safe, clean neighborhood, 3min walk to the South Ken Tube Station, just perfect! I am very happy with the hotel, staff is so friendly and very helpful
The spaciousness of the lobby. Not stuffy! The problem was they had no booking from us,checked everything! They solved it and gave us a room for the price agreed.
Great location, staff was excellent. A bit old, but so is most of London, - minor compared to the benefits, it was in good condition given how old building was.
- turndown service - chocolates on pillows - let me check-in early - helped me secure a taxi for wherever I was going - friendly attentive staff
clean room, facilities good, breakfast v.good if little expensive .service quick efficient good location room small bit cramped
V nice hotel, attentive staff. Room too small, had to ask several times to have safe fixed, extra blanket provided and light bulb replaced. Reception desk not v well- manned (often empty).
Everything was state of the art. Staff were very helpful. Location is great with the underground close by and a bus stop out front. Prime location in an outstanding area of London
The location is perfect being steps from the South Kensington tube station and close to museums, shops, food, etc but not right next to the major tourist stops so you don't feel you are surrounded only by tourists. Plus, free drinks in the mini fridge The rooms were on the small side but what would be expected in London.
Everything...gorgeous facility, interesting decorations, lovely staff, fabulous location...just shy of perfection!Q Rooms are not huge, but still loved loved loved the hotel
Location and layout. Hotel is located right beside tube station and within a lot of great amenities and attractions.
I like location and the interior design very much. And the staff is great. Bit limited on spaces (room and public place)
I first stay at the Pelham in 1993. Based on this stay it is as good or better than ever. A civilized haven in the best corner of London.
Due to airline delays, our exhausted family of three arrived at the Pelham after midnight and was met with a warm welcome and beautifully appointed room (with a comfortable extra bed set up as requested for our son). Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The Pelham could not have been lovelier, and the location is a perfect home base for exploring London.
The hotel itself is beautifully designed, and the location is impossible to beat. The service was impeccable. Each time I needed assitance from the front desk, I was given all that I needed and more. The concierge team -- Mercy, Jessica and Ahmed - were amazing. They simply went out of their way to make everyting go as smoothly as possible. The breakfast is very good. And the public hang-out spaces are beautifully designed. The only possible downside of this terrific hotel is the size of the single, small room, which is very small. But it's well designed, and has a great energy. I find this deal hard to beat. Would stay there again in a heartbeat, and would return with my family as well.
Classy apartment with full kitchen, dishwasher and clothes washer dryer in the room. Great service and very clean. We had a drawing room/ dinning room perfect for inviting friends. A few blocks away from V&A Museum, Royal Albert Hall and South Kensington tube station. Many great restaurants and classy shopping. It comes with a price.
I will not book a room in this hotel again because, having paid 200 pounds per night: - It took me half an hour to have a mediocre shower since the fresh water hardly run through the pipes (despite the washroom being recently refurbished). - The room was very noisy (street cars and doors slapping all night). - The complimentary breakfast (I paid for) was ridiculous. No salty/warm food, only some fresh fruit (which was good) and industrial pastries (along with the standard drinks, of course). R. Arranz (14/11/14)
Good location. This quasi-boutique hotel does not have the intimacy of a boutique hotel and not the broad facilities of a big hotel. It is caught in between. My room (single) was ridiculously small and bathroom even smaller. At the price quoted I would not recommend this hotel. Prices seem to be based mostly on their location in Chelsea. Breakfast buffet was almost finished and replenished with one roll at a time. Again very meager given the price.
Excellent ambiance. Bar opened 24/24 for guests. Very good cookies left each day in my room. Excellent cleaning service.
Friendly staff Room not ready on arrival. Staff did their best to make up for it.
Room was spacious and very comfortable The hotel bar being closed between 6-8:30pm when we had planned pre dinner drinks at the hotel was frustrating and seems inappropriate when we've booked the hotel room and expect usual facilities.
Peaceful location, good continental breakfast, excellent staff. Bathroom a little "jaded", fittings lose.
Quiet location within walking distance of 2 famous museums, Brompton and Marsden hospitals and also Kings Road. Excellent friendly and helpful staff.
location - v good
Clean, convenient I paid the Kayak rate that included breakfast, but was billed for breakfasts. Wi fi failed after first day (of 5), never restored; never informed of progress, or of any alternative arrangement. No wardrobe in room, and no chest of drawers.
Proximity to Chelsea flower show
Friendliness of staff. Good room service food. Air conditioning almost too effective! Nice decor and quiet, comfortable room (Superior grade room.) Room could have been cleaner - the odd stray hair in bathroom, bedroom and particularly on counterpane.
Receptionist was excellent Nothing
Friendly small town house feel to it. Felt like it was your London pad. Rooms clean and comfortable albeit not particularly large.
Standard room a bit small - good though!
Attractive modern refurbishment of a small row house in a quiet area. Bit cramped !
Courteous Hotel staff & bedroom furnishings Somewhat noisy with other patrons at times
Staff are very helpful, rooms very clean and location excellent. I always get a quiet night at Sydney House. Only improvement would be coffee making in the room.
Location, cleanliness of the rooms, the look and feel, the cosy feeling of boutique small hotels instead of large business ones Rooms would benefit from an Iron and ironing board
Very enjoyable and comfortable. I was made very welcome from my arrival to my departure. I lost my gate access control at the hotel, which your staff discovered and made immediate contact and arrangements to return. I would stay again. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room. No trouser press in the room.
lovely modern room, clean and fresh, felt like living in a friend's very swish townhouse, diecreet. peaceful and elegant bath tub drain slow
Great location, rooms extremely clean and new, good big beds, staff very nice and helpful. Breakfast quite reasonably priced.
I liked the location and as we stayed at the weekend there were plenty of parking outside the hotel and around the area. Fulham road and South Ken are within walking distance although King's Road was a bit further up the road. The staff were friendly and called us on our mobile to say we can have an early check in. We got a favourable rate from booking.com which made it good value for money.
Ideal situation Hotel was undergoing alterations
Good location, spacious room with good facilities
Location, services and value for money Poor breakfast
Room was tidy and spacious. Kitchenette would be great to use on longer stays. Soundproofing was non-existent, woke up to floorboards creaking which came from room above followed by sneezing that was easily heard through the wall from next door. TV was outdated.
Location was very good. Shower has two temperatures, freezing and burning. In the basement Apartment the street can be a bit noisy
Nice people. THe place is undergoing refurbishment so difficult to comment on the room decor as it was old and not up to standard (hence the low rate). The 1 bed apartment was spacious and just right as I had brought my parents along with me. Hope they keep to the same format when they refurbish the rooms. Door to balcony did not open
location, apts ideal for familys very noisy room overlooking cromwell rd,plumbing abysmal
Exceellent spacious and well appointed apartment in a covenient location No maid / cleaning service on Sundays / Bank Holidays meant that for 2 0f our 3 days there we did not have the sort of service you would expect fro a 3 / 4 * hotel
friendly staff, clean rooms, ambiente, the bar, breakfast was small but enough!
Cheap wifi and excellent signal strength Water wasn't very hot for morning shower
The room was very comfortable and of a good size There was no food served in the hotel at all - this was very inconvenient for a sole traveller on business.
They serve an excellent cappuccino. Hotel staff is very kind.
Close to the center of London where the shops and good restaurants are. The rooms are fine. Not really
Room was clean and modern. Location excellent.Having a balcony was a huge asset, as the complimentary mineral water. Bar and breakfast excellent. Shower wonderful and worked perfectly, as did hairdryer! The stairs and firedoors made accessing the room difficult. We are returning in September and would love to have Room 20 again. Front of house staff varied. Car booked for airport quoted at 45 pounds cost 75 pounds - inexcusable! papers arrived some days, not others. Service should be much sharper.
the sice of the roome and the location. the bed was very poor.
The staff is welcoming and the location is convenient, to visit London and do some shopping.
Staff very friendly and helpful, good location and very good value for money.
The amazing staff and beautiful room. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Location was also fab. It was all brilliant
Room was not large but very well decorated and had everything we needed eg comfy bed(queen size),tea/coffee making.air con(which we needed), a quiet room per my request and a full roomy bathroom. Very adequate.
I chose it because it was central and it was lovely to be able to get to shops and galleries/museums so quickly. Also wonderful decor in the public rooms. The desk lamp was not working; it seemed that for the price we paid it would have been usual to expect all the facilities to be in working order. It was mentioned to the desk but as we were only there for one night it was not possible to fix it in time.
I really enjoyed my breakfast. I chose the cooked breakfast and thought that the food was very good and the service was good. The dining room was very elegant with a relaxing atmosphere. Although I did think my bed was very comfortable which is unusual for me in hotels I was disappointed with my room which was a de-luxe twin. The beds took up too much room and it was difficult to get into the hanging area as the door couldn't open properly because of the one bedside cabinet. Also our clothes felt damp and cold in the morning.
Breakfast facilities were good. Was not re-assure when fire alarm was triggered three times during the night
The hotel was beautiful, and the room was very elegant and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, although they were busy
We stayed at The Gallery- it was changed because we read a review that the Gainsborough had a problem with noise from nightclub next door Our room was very dusty and the double bed was a small queen size bed which was too small for two of us to share comfortably- it had a very old mattras which was very uncomfortable- otherwise the room was quite attractive
Friendly staff. Location. Tiny old room. No heating in the bathroom.
Location and comfort
Nothing about the hotel apart from its location. The hotel is shabby, run down and dirty. My room was totally inadequate and the smallest room I have ever stayed in. It was impossible to open the bathroom door and get in without clambering over the bed! The noise of the neighbouring rooms shower at 5am was like a jet plane coming through the room. I could go on but am trying to forget the Gainsborough experience. I will be consulting trip advisor.
Friendly staff, complimentary soft drink on arrival
The bathtub was nice and the mattress put us to sleep. Decor was interesting and the tv was large. It is very close to the tube and attractions making it useful to walk to many attractions in South Kensington and Westminister. The room was small (drawers could not be opened without adjusting other furniture). The ambiance was not pleasant, borderline spooky. The staff fumbled with almost everything and were unclear about important details.
Perfect location for the museums - very quiet street and good sized room. Staff were helpful and attentive.
