Kontra: "Business class seats not very long if you are tall. Western meal option is not really very western. Crew is a little too efficient- got woken up 90 minutes before landing to clear the mattresses. Lots of announcements- a bit too much. On time, and quick to respond to requests. Sake was good as was the ramen."

However, when the meal was being served, there was only a chicken or pork option and my vegetarian meal had either not been properly booked or had been forgotten. When I informed the staff, I was asked to show proof that I ordered a veggie meal. I could not pull up my email confirmation as we were flying and there was no internet access. I had to lug my bag out of the overhead and search for a print out confirmation. I had not come prepared with the "evidence" the stewardess wanted. While the staff tried to be polite, I also found them to be quite rude, demanding that I produce evidence. Could they not have simply given me an extra salad without all the fuss? I felt I was being treated as a criminal for requesting a veggie meal that had, unfortunately, not been recorded in their system."

Pro: "From the April 12 Sydney to Seoul flight, the landing at Seoul was so smooth, so professionally done I hardly knew we had touched ground. That Captain has much to teach all pilots wanting a higher standard to their skills and the recognition of these standards. That caption is worth his/her weight in gold, giving Koran Air a gold standard. To compare, the landing at Osaka April 12, late at night, was done by an apprentice who has much to learn from your gold star captain.."
Kontra: "The same Sydney to Seoul flight, crossed the Qld Great Barrier Reef around 11am April 12. Having a window seat, so much detail of the Reef was visible which greatly surprised me. Beautiful colours galore. Having my face glued to the window at this time, I was unaware of cabin happenings. A male steward tapped me on the shoulder and said "Close your window blind". The beautiful scene outside my window was a first and being 76 old, likely not to happen again for me. Naturally, I ask the male steward "Why", He repeated 4 more times, "Close your window blind". Each time my reply was the same, "Why". On his last request, his voice raised, so in turn, my reply was raised. Sadly, he walked away silently, hands waving in disgust. Only then did I realise the cabin was completely black, no light seen. If at 11am, traditionally, this is a custom, a service to passengers on that particular flight, the male steward didn't say. He clearly expected to be obeyed and didn't expect a challenge. But also felt I didn't deserve a reason for his, what clearly was a demand. Would he have treated a male passenger differently. I flew economy because that is what my budget demands. Flying is not common for me but certainly a thrill that demands a window seat. I give much praise to all other staff, especially the captain landing that very craft at Seoul. At my age, years of experience allows me to be aware and notice. A beautifully presented mature female stewardess in economy, served me. When I requested a beer with the main meal, she said I will give you my favourite. I knew this was double talk for having only one brand beer left, that was a weak American beer. I watched this lovely lady many times being distracted by other staff with questions and 2 other passengers near me, asking for changes. She never blew it. And she passed me in the Sydney terminal, end of the day for her and believe it or not, she remembered me. She was not in such a hurry to get to her destination, that she gave time by turning her body, giving me a wide smile with eyes saying, Yes, I served you. You see, she's never off the job of customer service. I learned much, flying with Korean Air. Many thanks, Sally"

Kontra: "As I was about to board, I was denied carrying on my backpack with the few items I would need for the flight, so I was forced to put them into my carry-on suitcase which was loaded elsewhere, out of reach.. The insanity of it all - so glad the woman can count to two - is that I was forced by this angry person to carry my laptop and tablet onto the airplane in my hand, as she absolutely would not allow me to put them into my empty backpack, claiming this would constitute a third item. Of course, no one else was forced to take their computers out of their protective cases, only myself, because it was a backpack. I am 66 years old, travelling alone, and frankly am not the only international traveler who experiences unbelievable rudeness when in US airports."

Kontra: "I don't like the fact that KE charges the 3rd baggage (excess baggage) US$200 for only up to 23kgs. Anything beyond that is additional $100 for only up to 32kgs. another $100 beyond 32kgs. I will state for a fact that Cathay Pacific only charges US$150 for the 3rd baggage and is already up to 32kgs. Perhaps this is something KE would like to look into. In spite of Cathay Pacific's excess baggage rates, they have a smaller leg room in the economy class."

I asked a flight attendant to relocate me to a window seat, which she kindly did, however this seat was quite uncomfortable as I was seated next to a large gentleman who probably should have been required to purchase two seats. Overall, there were two issues with Qatar Airways during this trip: they did not give me the seat I had requested and paid for, and then lied when I asked if my new seat was a window."

Pro: "Service is great, planes were on time or only minimal delay. Wifi access, food is pretty descent, blanket and pillow plus small package with toothbrush. Stewardess very friendly and helpful!"

Pro: "Boarding was great as well as comfort and crew. the flight was ok"
Kontra: "however there was no internet and bad entertainment. You couldnt really navigate on Oryx One and it was hard to select the autoplay or map. There was no remote unlike the B787 between MAN and DOH. Pre-download things on laptops, tablets, phones or whatever ifyou are not going to sleep on the flight. It also took 3 hours because of UAE and Qatar :("

Pro: "I got free internet on this flight: sponsored by Ooredoo. You can get 8MB for free! Breakfast was good quantity"
Kontra: "Entertainment Oryx One, lunch quantity aswell. FPML had one tray, VJML and AVML had the same packed wrap."

Pro: "At gate boarding was I inefficient and managed professionally. On board entertainment was glitchy as the movies paused and skipped the entire flight."
Kontra: "The staff were not trained well and unaware of how to conduct proper flow of customer screening."

Pro: "Overall a good service with good food."
Kontra: "When flying from New Zealand to Doha, we departed Auckland at 15h25 and due to the time zone, most passengers body clocks would have been expecting sleep within a few hours. However we were flying West and thus into daylight. Sadly the window seated passengers were not asked to close their window blinds to block out the sunlight and many were left open. This made the cabin very bright and a difficult environment in which to sleep. Too much advertising before the on board videos, but otherwise content was good."

Pro: "Excellent service from check in to disembarkation. I was surprised at the amount of leg room, as being a 6+ footer it has always previously been an issue, but not with Qatar."
Kontra: "Only downside was the lack of the free traveller pack, eye shade and ear plugs, sleep was denied as I could not block out the sound of the very talkative travellers behind me."

Pro: "I was met with a warm smile which made me feel welcome. The staff were friendly and professional. Even though it was a full flight, I did not just feel like a number, top airline. I will choice them again."

Have capacity to feed extra or not. Last minute upgrades can be both a revenue stream and another option to further satisfy some customers. Particularly older generations that can afford and would fund such a win win appealing."

Kontra: "Crew only helpful when pushed to help. My child was sick and the cabin crew tried to give me food. I said that my child had just vomited but there was no offer to help me clear it up they just continued serving food to other passengers. I had to search for someone to help me to clear up and then I felt as though I was an inconvenience. I then had to look for someone to bring food for myself and other child. My other child is 1yr and 11 months and I was told they were only allowed baby food not a child meal. Although there were a few spare seats on the plane I was squashed into a full row with a 3 yr old and one year old on my lap. I appreciate that there may not have been any bassinet seats left but would have been helpful not to be on a full row as a single adult travelling with two small children. No offers for assistance with bags."

Kontra: "The online check in system was down so we all had to line up to check in."

Pro: "Crew were helpful and not interefering in long flight"
Kontra: "Flight from Qatar to Seoul was quite old I believe. USB on my chair did not work and media in LCD screens were not new enough. seats were quite old and not convenient for 10 hours flight."

Pro: "We enjoyed the comfort, food , staff and entertainment."
Kontra: "The queuing for check-in, luggage control and plane boarding was much too long, 1 1/2 hrs +. The online check-in couldn't be used."

Pro: "Excellent crew who were warm and attentive. Wide range of entertainment options."
Kontra: "Food was disappointing. No western option despite it being a London bound flight."

Pro: "Boarding, the welcome on board, the food choice and quality were all excellent. The seat was comfortable and I got a few hours sleep. The entertainment screen was big and clear, and the choice of films was good."
Kontra: "The choice of films and tv programmes, was good, but before watching each one i chose, I had to endure a couple off minutes of an advert- the same one every time."

Pro: "Could have done without the awful sexist ads they play on in flight entertainment."

Pro: "The usual customer care, from checking in to leaving the plane, second to none. Food choice and quality excellent."
Kontra: "The new diagonal seats are good, except when trying to put my feet up. The raised foot area is very cramped, and for me sleeping wasn't possible. I left my feet on the floor."

Kontra: "I had a torn budd/hamstring muscle and an upgrade to another class would have been great because I was in constant pain. Hopefully, when I return in a few days - this could be arranged?"

Kontra: "The ground services in Melbourne airport was really bad! Chaotic arrangements for boarding and especially unpleasant staffs!"

Pro: "I paid $190 for extra legroom for an economy seat by an exit door, however the remote for the entertainment screen encroached an inch on the already VERY narrow seats - I'm six foot three and 215 pounds and both hips were in full pressing contact against the sides of the seat - TOO NARROW!"

Kontra: "Passenger immediately behind said that they couldn't watch their movie properly when I wanted to recline my seat for sleeping position. Had to wait!!"

Kontra: "I checked in online, printed the boarding passes as I know japan probably isn’t ready for phone apps for checking in. When I went to the counter, despite being the one holding all the documents (and having organized the whole travel itinerary, the staff only spoke to my husband (Whi hadn’t a clue about the journey) in Japanese. They proceeded to check us in on their computer and insisted that we use their paperwork, not mine. What a farce. What a waste of paper and my time."

Pro: "Smooth and pleasant flight with no interruptions which enabled sleep on a long overnight flight. The plane was older than on the previous flight from Melbourne to Hong Kong and was noticably short on toilets for the number of passengers."

My son left his backpack behind on the first leg and the airline staff retreived it and delivered it to the lounge in less than 15 minutes. I was astounded and had almost given up on seeing the bag again, given my experience with other airlines in the past. This is going to be airline of choice for future trips!"

Pro: "We always fly with Cathay. Usually 2-3 times per year and feel the staff are professional and service is extremely good. I recently fractured my ankle and staff provided excellent assistance."
Kontra: "The breakfasts for economy passengers is shocking. This has not always been the case. However, Now it is presented in a card board box and of very poor quality."

Kontra: "Gate staff was not patient and friendly. No advanced notification before flight cancellation. Poor communication after flight cancellation. No instructions for remediation for flight cancellation only tell customer to get checked in luggage bag and go home. No initiative to handle the incident. We waited for 2 hours at the counter for explanation and information for re-arrangement for the flight. Really disappointed with this flight."

Pro: "All components of the trip were UpTo the expectations"

Pro: "Crew were pleasant and courteous throughout. Food was not bad, but not excellent either, just airline food."
Kontra: "Boarding was somewhat chaotic, with people queuing up early and no assigned groups. Seems to be the norm for Cathay unfortunately."

Pro: "Food was good and seats were comfy :) Quick boarding and timely departures which I really like coz it got me to the destination pretty on time compared to other airlines."
Kontra: "Staff seemed a bit stressed at times. Service seemed rushed but acceptable."

Kontra: "The premium economy cabin configuration - it was a full flight, I was seated at the right-hand side of the cabin, and the toilet is at the left, and it was not easy and having to step on people's feet to go to the tooilet."

Pro: "CX starts throwing out some old movies, it's nice to see some vintage from my kid age."

Kontra: "Hated all the checks at the airport - felt like a criminal. Crew didn't seem very happy to be there."

Kontra: "Another passenger request me move to a window seat from a front row with leg room seat and it was hard for a big guy to go to and from washroom. Plane was hot and sweat throughout the flight making it very uncomfortable. Ran out of food choices for breakfast really fast."

Kontra: "Entertainment touch screen did not work properly. Staff had yo reset it a few times but it still didn't recognise touch most of time which was frustrating. The screen should be chaned or repaired. It was cold on the plane Departure was delayed but we did not get explanation"

Kontra: "Same reason provided for Sydney to Hong Kong flight"

Pro: "What a difference after getting off BA! Staff wonderful, always happy to help and always a smile. PE seats on new A350 are great, although too much cheap, hard plastic on seat back. Very comfortable with great pitch. Food exceptional and beautifully presented. Dim sum for breakfast was sensational. Pier Business class lounge breathtaking, with several large rooms with different food options, served to you - the fresh made noodles a must - and a staffed, well stocked bar. Absolutely gorgeous space."
Kontra: "Surprised (and first time on Cathay I've seen this) toilet was revolting towards end of flight. Movie selection disappointing, as not many new releases and not all that many others."

Kontra: "Blankets were very thin, although clean felt reused. Headphones were poor which meant if Someone in a near seat was talking couldn't hear through my headset despite volume being turned up."

Pro: "Customer service"
Kontra: "The guy in front reclined for the whole 14 hour flight so I didn't have much leg room."

Pro: "We liked the cabin crew services, which were great and attentive. The food and beverage services were also excellent, with the food tasting delicious and visually appetizing. Entertainment system and movie choices were updated and varied."
Kontra: "The baggage allowance was atrocious at just 20kg, when all other airlines already have much greater baggage allowance. Even though the baggage allowance has been updated to a higher amount as of September, their system still tagged on the 20kg amount to the date of ticket purchase."

Pro: "The entertainment on the touch screen is pretty good. Economy seats are pretty good and have decent leg room."
Kontra: "The world is turning to vegetarianism and I think that all flights should now have a veg and non-veg option by default and it should not be a necessary special meal as such. The Ovo-lacto meal that was given to my wife and I was OK compared to the actual vegetarian option that was present on the menu. The airline should inform passengers in advance that a certain leg of the journey would have vegetarian options."
